I cannot sing this places praises enough. Has to be some of the best quality, affordable Asian takeout/sit down in Charleston. It's in a weird hidden location right next to a Circle K which is what I think keeps them from being more popular. I love dining in there because their space is so calming and comfy and the staff is beyond amazing. They are such a delight to interact with and I'm so willing to give them every last cent. The food is very good quality and flavorful and I crave their ramen specifically sometimes. It's never busy or packed or hard to order. Give Kocha some love!!!

Decided to do a family style dinner to celebrate multiple birthdays and early Mothers Day. This amazing little gem tucked into a convenience store building did not disappoint. It has like 6 tables inside the restaurant. The staff was amazing, the food everything we hoped for and wow they had a booming take out business. The menu is quite unique, you can get all the usual Asian take out that you can get from most any "Chinese" food places, but the Korean specialties on the back of the menu in wonderful descriptive pictures. Try these you will not be disappointed. I encouraged everyone to find the smaller hole in the wall places to eat. You get your best food at most of them. If you can go to the same restaurants in multiple places in your city or in multiple states, you are eating in the wrong places.

I remember loving the authentic Korean food here from my last visit (well before the pandemic), so I decided to make another short cruise out here (near West Ashley/Charleston) for a late lunch on my own. Again, let me mention that this is a casual restaurant located next to a gas station...yet it's comfy enough, with some surprising decorative paintings and such. The service is more or less perfunctory, but fast and attentive all the same. This time, I had to try their Galbi platter (Korean Short Ribs). Plus, I added an order of Seafood Pancake to share with the boys back at our beach home. Once again, I was impressed...with their immense generosity, for starters. The Galbi platter was tremendous! I got the dinner portion, which was just below 20 bucks...but it came with a huge portion of Galbi in a cute cow-sculpted stone platter, AND a bento box full of sides (Rice, Fried Sweet Potatoes and an array of exotic veggies! Just SO much food...and all SO GOOD!! The Seafood Pancake was super-delish as well...though at first, I thought it was a bit overcooked (burnt even?). It's truly ironic how this restaurant, located next to a gas station (no joke!), is able to deliver such power-packed, presentable dishes...more so than all the so-called nice restaurants on Edisto Island nearby, at a fraction of the price! I mean, this amazing FEAST (Galbi platter plus Seafood Pancake) totaled around $35...a STEAL! Something just does not add up. Anyhow, am so glad I decided to revisit this place. Next time, I'm bringing my boys with me!

Felt like something different and decided on Ko Cha Asian Restaurant. I'd ordered ramen from them a year or so ago, but since my wife has been addicted to subtitled Korean films lately (that's another story) we agreed to give it a go with Korean selections. The menu is diverse in cultural cuisine; they serve Korean, Chinese & some Japanese dishes. I called my order in because the small dining room is closed, and I was told 15min it would be ready. Since I'm half that time away from there, I just hopped into the car and drove. Did it take me longer than I thought to get there? not sure, but it was ready when I arrived. The outside of the restaurant looked the same as before but the inside was definitely COVID safe. There was a newly constructed wall just feet inside the entrance with plexiglass transaction windows which could be opened when needed. Hand sanitizer was on the counter and the front door sported the masks required sign. The counter staff was friendly and responsive, and they tossed in a few egg rolls with my order for good measure. My transaction went off without a hitch and I was on my way in minutes. Back at the house I discovered wonderful surprises under the lids of my containers. Superbly crispy chicken wings with shrimp fried rice, Katsu pork with sticky rice, vegetables and 2 shrimp spring rolls with sauce, and a dozen fried beef dumplings ($6.99), and of course some pickled veggies and those egg rolls I mentioned earlier. ALL of it was great, still hot when I got home, with very satisfying portions. I know, we drifted towards Japanese selections but they did a great job nonetheless! Pictures follow and you can bet I'll make this a more regular stop. Next time, Kimchi Soup & Kal-bi. If you're wondering where the 5th star is, it was lost in ambiance - perhaps no fault of the proprietors, and no matter how hard I tried I to reach for it, it eluded me.

I definitely would've looked past this place but I saw it's reviews were good and decided to give it as I'm on a hunt for good General Tso's Chicken. I ordered exactly that as the dinner meal which comes with a pork egg roll and I opted for the pork fried rice. The egg roll was one of the best I've had in a long time! Not mushy or slimy inside at all. The fried rice was yummy too. The General Tso was slightly disappointing. The chicken itself and texture was ok, but the sauce tasted more like a sweet and sour chicken sauce (it even looks like it in the picture attached). I also like it spicier. All in all, I'd eat it again and it's really close to me. The value was reasonable for the taste and quantity.

I can't believe I've never been here before today! This little restaurant had my taste buds dancing, my belly full without breaking the bank! A little under 9 bucks for their lunch special, I had the sesame chicken and lumpia rolls with lots of leftovers! Service was amazing! Fast and affordable I'll definitely be back!!

KoCha is a hidden gem--arguably the best Chinese food gas station you'll find. Don't let the gas station setting fool you; this family crafts exceptional dishes and radiates genuine warmth. Whether you opt for indoor seating or takeout, the experience is consistently delightful. We've made it a tradition to pick up their fantastic food on numerous occasions and head home. A solid 100% recommendation, especially considering their diverse menu that includes some delectable Korean cuisine. The staff is nice and efficient. The food comes out hot and fast. It has the advantage of being right next to a gas station with a big parking lot so there's plenty of parking.

    Covid safe!

We sat at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend, and from the moment we sat down it was clear we were in good hands. We were surprised right away with a complimentary amuse‑bouche--crab stick rolled with salmon--which was a thoughtful and delicious touch. To start, I ordered the seaweed salad while Justin went with the ginger salad; both were fresh, balanced, and a perfect lead‑in to the sushi. For the main event, I ordered a spicy tuna roll and eel nigiri, and this is where Zen really shined. The spicy tuna roll was exactly what sushi lovers hope for--very light on rice and heavy on fish, something that's surprisingly hard to find around Charleston. The eel nigiri was rich, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Justin ordered several pieces of sashimi and was equally impressed. We asked about albacore tuna (unfortunately unavailable), but were told the salmon was excellent--and moments later, we were unexpectedly served two additional pieces of sushi each. Completely unexpected and incredibly appreciated, especially for a birthday celebration. Between the quality of the fish, attention to detail, and warm hospitality, Zen Asian Fusion absolutely won us over. We've officially found our new sushi spot and can't wait to come back.

You definitely might need to cut it down or maybe half it for a bite but I still loved it. They brought it with a fork and knife, so it's kind of expected. I also ordered the Sambal or yellow curry with chicken. It was pretty good too. It came with a house salad. The dressing on the salad was delicious. The samba curry was really good too. I liked that everything came out hot. I also ordered the SC rainbow. It was good too. I pretty much liked everything I ordered. Id probably order all of those again. Service and ambiance was good. It seemed busier than I expected.

As a graduate student, money is tight and their lunch specials are a great way to avoid paying high costs for good Asian cuisine. Additionally, I find myself unable to eat an entire portion size in one sitting. Everything I have ordered comes with ample amounts of food and can possibly even be shared depending on one's appetite. I am a frequent flyer here and have even brought my girlfriend to which she has enjoyed. Despite all the good, the ambiance is quite bleak including a never crowded inside and basic design. I never eat in, so take my review with a grain of salt if you seek an all-inclusive experience. Overall, Asian Grill is slightly better than your typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant that is affordable and highlighted with great food.

On one side it is an "all you can eat" menu. On the other side, you order à la carte off of a regular menu. On the all-you-can-eat side, it appears you'll probably need a reservation, as it is quite popular. We did not have a reservation but didn't want all you can eat anyway, so we sat on the side with the regular menu. The menu is quite large, with a good variety of sushi and other dishes. We got there during happy hour, and they had some great deals on appetizers, certain types of sushi, and drinks. Every employee that we encountered was friendly and helpful. The presentation of the food was lovely, as you can see from the photos below, but overall, the food was just so-so. The sushi was good, but definitely not the best I've ever had. It wasn't terrible, just nothing to write home about. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer and that was not great, compared to other restaurants. It was fairly thick and heavily battered (as far as calamari goes), and tasted as if the oil hadn't been changed in a while. We also ordered regular egg rolls, which were OK. As far as ambience, for some reason many restaurants play loud music that isn't suitable for dining (have they always done this and I just never noticed?), and this is one of them. Overall, I do feel that we received good food for the price, and again, all of the employees were stellar. We will probably try this location again.
