Initially, I found out about Asian Grill as it is in the plaza at the entrance to my neighborhood. I typically order the lunch specials, specifically the General Tao's Chicken, which has never disappointed. As a graduate student, money is tight and their lunch specials are a great way to avoid paying high costs for good Asian cuisine. Additionally, I find myself unable to eat an entire portion size in one sitting. Everything I have ordered comes with ample amounts of food and can possibly even be shared depending on one's appetite. I am a frequent flyer here and have even brought my girlfriend to which she has enjoyed. Despite all the good, the ambiance is quite bleak including a never crowded inside and basic design. I never eat in, so take my review with a grain of salt if you seek an all-inclusive experience. Good news bad news. Good, an abundance, rice, and variety of food, cheap. Bad, very unfriendly place, no smiles, very abrupt. You order, pay, sit. Miso soup, horrible, served in plastic cup. I've given this place about 4 tries, but I still can't find any flavor in each of the dishes whether it's Pad Thai, fried rice, or General Tso's chicken. The ordering system is still super weird, still like Covid with tacky plastic everywhere, and the workers are rude. They have a lunch special for sushi and my husband ordered that and we got charged for 2 rolls separately which is more expensive than the lunch special. Granted their salad with the lunch special is awful and we throw it away anyway, but like it's lunch and you know you have a special. We were excited about Asian Grill opening in the West Ashley Circle area because my husband and I love Thai food, pho, and sushi. Unfortunately, Asian Grill just didn't do it for us. We walked in and placed a to-go order (the restaurant is new and doesn't have online ordering, a social media presence, or a website yet). I had the tuk tuk noodles with shrimp, and my husband had a chicken curry dish as well as the beef pho. Although my shrimp noodles were a solid portion for the price, the dish itself was bland. I felt like my husband could make a similar noodle dish at home with more taste. My husband's pho was missing an ingredient. On a positive note, the restaurant has a large plexiglass barrier up at the register to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Masks are also required. Asian Grill's menu is large and offers variety. Since it's close to home, we'll give it another shot and try the hibachi or sushi in hopes of more flavor. read more

Why doesn't Yelp have an option for zero stars? We have ordered from here twice now. First time it was "ok" but nothing to rave over. We tried it again last night on a take out order we had called in. I'm not going to elaborate too much because it would take too long. But it was absolutely disgusting. I ordered teriyaki chicken and rice - my husband, General Tso chicken, which he orders often when we crave Asian food, so we know how it's prepared! His dish was a joke. Zero sauce, with few pieces of chicken and a clump of white rice. He ate a few bites - he's not a picky eater AT ALL. It was that bad. Mine was only slightly better. If this place is going to serve takeout customers this type of blah, tasteless food, well, they should be shut down. Second time and last time. Don't waste your time or your money. Because I can't believed they served the meat that is old and have a rotten smelled. I ordered ribeye steak but it is not even ribeye steak. I can't even finish the meal and so is my husband. I am a person never waste foods but I can't even finish the food on my second attempts because of the rotten meat is so strong. My husband can't even eat the meal either. Therefore, I don't recommended this place to anyone because it is just simply wrong when any businesses serve meat that is old to anyone. I've been waiting for this place to open. It didn't disappoint. Food was bomb. Loved it. No chewy meat, no hard rice. The price was nice too! Staff was great and quick. Asian Grill is our go-to takeout place in the area. Their standard Chinese dishes are solid (my boys love their General Tso's) and their sushi is good but the real winners are the curry dishes. This is an update to a previous review. I had family in town recently and as always, for arrival day, we ordered Asian Grill. So many options at AG, it's easy to please everyone after a long car ride. We had 8 separate orders for pickup, I grabbed the bag without checking that everything was there and got home missing an order. I called and they apologized and offered to deliver the missing item, no questions asked. I live around the corner and said I could be there in a few minutes. Unlike the previous times, this time I was charged and extra dollar for my "special instructions" asking for tuna instead of salmon. It's just a dollar, so I'm not stressed about that. However, I asked for no masago in the special instructions and was still given masago. So, I was charged extra and my order was still messed up. My husband's sweet and sour chicken was bland and soggy. Really sad that we won't be back because I love the variety of options aside from a regular takeout place offers. We popped into the Asian Grill for some Togo food on the 4th of July. Our dinner plans had fallen through elsewhere but we love Asian so we tried this place for the first time. The food was very tasty and we will definitely be back! We got General Tso chicken and the braised duck curry (called pintoon or something like that) the curry was soo delicious, not spicy at all so next time I will try some of the other red curry maybe. The duck was soo delicious and fall off the bone! The general Tso chicken was also not over cooked, light and fluffy. We were very happy because sometimes, at other places, we get very chewy overdone chicken. This was not the case there. Again not a lot of spice factor in these dishes so maybe next time I will ask them which dishes have some fire to them, but plenty of flavor. This will be our new Asian spot! read more

My girlfriend and I ordered the beef pho, two rolls, and a miso soup. Everything was delicious and great until I pulled into her driveway and all h*ll broke loose. We ordered for the first time from Asian Grill the other night. Was craving Asian food, and this was the closest option. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, my son got hibachi chicken, and my wife / daughter each got sweet and sour chicken. We ordered through the Yelp app which was super convenient for pickup. Ready in about 30 minutes. The General Tso's was good. Not too spicy. Plenty of chicken in the portion. The brown rice that came with it was dry. Really dry. Like, did they add any moisture at all to the grains dry? Anyway, I didn't have any leftovers because I had an appetite. Son at all of his chicken, but passed on most of the veggies. Daughter ate all of her white rice and much of her chicken. My wife had the fried rice and really enjoyed that, and ate most of her chicken.
