The food quality is awful! My chicken potstickers tasted like they came from the freezer and not freshly made. I was overcharged for things I did not ask for. I asked for a refund and they were disoriented and wanted to act like they gave me a refund. I was never refunded for my food and will not be going back to this place. It was my first time and LAST. Visited Kanji Hibatchi and sushi grill on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. This business is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. It is both a carryout and dine-in business. There are 5 tables and 3 booths inside. It was clean and bright inside. No bar is available. I ordered the Chicken Hibachi with fried rice and vegetables. The chicken had a teriyaki sauce with sesame seeds. The rice was brown rice and seasoned just right. You get plenty of cooked vegetables and yum yum sauce. I dined inside. The food arrived quickly and was very good. You get a decent sized portion for your money. I recommend Kanji and will be back again. read more

The absolute height of food in the area and the only Chinese worth getting in WA. It's small, unassuming, and discretly tucked into a strip mall, but it is absolutely worth your time. We had a bunch of sushi rolls, a teriyaki chicken, and a Mongolian beef bowl...multiple times...multiple days...in a row. Each time was perfect and felt better than the last! I loved it so much that I got some for a flight out of Charleston as my in-flight meal. All the food is served in to-go containers, but they could serve this masterpiece in a trash can, and it would still be great. Recommended highly! read more

We just got delivery from here last night and it was exactly what we are craving. I love places that have sushi and hibachi wrapped up into one. We got the hibachi chicken and shrimp and several different rolls. I got the spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail rolls, both of which were simple and delicious. The sushi rice was particularly on point and they both had a little bit of crunch for added texture. My fiance got the Doge to the moon roll and we didn't just order it for the funny name, it was actually delicious. Silly me added 2 additional white sauces to our order because it didn't specify if it came with them, and the restaurant gave us probably 10 total containers of white sauce, which was amazing. Due to where it's located, this place doesn't look like much. How it's clean on the inside and they have good customer service. I was starving and had several questions. The lady at the front seemed to not understand English well but she was able to take our order accurately. We ordered the fried spring rolls, hibachi shrimp and the Mongolian beef. The spring rolls come in 3. The only thing I would change about the hibachi shrimp are the seeds sprinkled on top. We didn't care of that. The same seeds was sprinkled on the Mongolian beef as well. Haven't been in a while got something real quick for dinner tonight. My order wasn't right. I wish I had looked before I left but living so far away and having been here a number of times didn't think I had too. We normally do the Teriyaki Bowl the guy at the register kept saying rice bowl after exchanging that a few times I thought he got what I wanted. Jokes on me he didn't. But it's cool my husband ate it just wasn't super excited because it wasn't what we normally get. And the steak was dry and hard. first time visiting here and wow I'm impressed! I ordered togo and the staff was incredibly friendly and gave me extra sauce without having to pay because I forgot my credit card. So kind!! I ordered the two roll special, a side of hibachi chicken, and a side of a vegetables. It came with plenty of sauce and the sushi was incredibly fresh and of high-quality. The to go containers of chicken and vegetables were stuffed full. They did not skimp out on the amount of chicken and veggies. I was very shocked at what a great deal it was! To know that I can get such great service as well as food right near my house is awesome stuff. they also allow you to get reward points with each order. Those reward points build and I believe for every 100 reward points, you get $10 off. they also have indoor dining with little booths. So you can go and sit down and eat. We went for a late lunch, and it was not very crowded, but the restaurant looked clean and well-kept. The seating area was very clean and had hand sanitizer on each table. The employees were friendly and helpful. We ordered some rainbow rolls and a chicken/veggie combo plate. The sushi rolls were well prepared and tasted good. The wasabi had a good spice to it. The chicken/veggie combo had really good taste. We would eat here again. I rate Kanji and 8/10 for a quick sushi and Asian meal. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered from this restaurant. I use yelp app to order the food. I thought I was ordering it from a different Asian restaurant on Savannah Highway. Once I figured it out it was too late because I had already ordered the food and paid for it. I went in to pick up the food and was greeted by the friendly employee very quickly. I picked up my order and took it home. The food is absolutely excellent as far as the restaurant so if it's not fancy in any way. But the excellence of the food outweighs the ordinary ambience of the restaurant. I will absolutely go back to this restaurant again and order food. Maybe I'll eat in next time. We ordered the three roll special for 15 dollars and a veggie and steak noodle dish. They have a good selection of sushi rolls most in the 5-15 dollar range. The three for 15 deal is for basic rolls (think Philly, spicy salmon, tuna, veggie) and a few unique options like blue crab and a variation of a rainbow roll. The sushi was substantial and tasty. The noddle dish was tasty too. Everything was served in take out containers. Looking forward to post Covid days of eating on plates with silverware. We recently discovered Kanji Sushi and have not gone elsewhere for sushi since it set up shop in West Ashley. Every single roll we have tried has been delicious. I have this weird "ritual" that I do when I try a sushi restaurant for the first time. I ALWAYS order the spicy tuna roll, as it helps me gauge the sushi "roll" (wrapping) quality, freshness, and spice level of the restaurant. It's a simple roll that provides so much intel about the restaurant and its sushi chef. This ritual has never failed me. Here's the verdict. My favorite Kanji sushi roll is actually the spicy tuna. I always switch it up with the other classic or signature rolls, but the spicy tuna is a staple. I order it every single time. I know it's located down the street from Whole Foods and Harris Teeter in West Ashley, and a lot of people grab sushi at grocery stores for convenience, but you are truly missing out. Do not overlook this place. You get way more bang for your buck here than a roll at Whole Foods, and you most certainly get more flavor! I love this place. I'm probably here once or twice a month. But, one Saturday we were running errands and added this spot to our list. We started with Potstickers, which were delicious, and Wontons, which were just OK. For my meal, I ordered the hibachi steak, which was very, very good. The beef was not overcooked and it was very tender. This meal held up for lunch on Monday, which always thrills me. Uber Eats experience, never been directly. Ordered 5 times, didn't really venture past the tuna focused sushi options, but that's because they all hit and there's no real reason for me to want to change it up. My go to place when I want sushi but don't have enough post work energy to go out and look halfway decent to go get it. I think the price for the quality is more than fair. 1 of my 5 orders they kinda stubbed their toe (nori was chewy, few other nitpicks) but considering they smashed the other 4 I imagine it was just the driver fucking around too long. This is a place I would come back to and frequent if I lived in this area. I was heading back home from the beach and was craving sushi before I left. I have worked in sushi restaurants before so I am very picky and know what red flag to look for. This place was very clean and after peaking at the sushi fish, they looked very fresh and the appropriate color. I ordered the 2 roll combo (shrimp tempura roll and GMC roll) for $10.95 which was a really good deal. The rolls were rolled and cut really well so I can tell that the chef knows what he is doing. However I cannot give them 5 stars because the tempura elements in my dish were old and mushy. A tempura shrimp should be cooked to order and come out warm. It was cold and not crunchy. The GMC roll is supposed to have crunch as an ingredient but this crunch wasn't crunchy at all. It was a mushy disappointment. Overall it was fairly tasty minus the tempura elements. I think they could have done better and wouldn't mind trying other things on their menu. read more

I received a menu in the mail and it said delivery for orders over $15 and I'm not sure my bill at any sushi place has ever been under $15 so I thought I would try this new place. Perhaps I should have looked up the location first. I asked how long delivery would be and at first was told 15 minutes, but after she saw how I was at the opposite side of West Ashley my time quote was 1 hour. I didn't want to not support a new business, so I chose to pick up to not burden the driver and I already had my craving set to try the kanji roll. I ordered that plus the chicken udon for my son and then 2 classics, salmon avocado and tuna avocado. All are yummy and fresh. The udon was a tad spicy for his picky tastebuds but he honestly was not bothered much by the spice as he was with the wonderful plethora of vegetables he had to dodge to find the noodles. If I ordered this for him again I would perhaps request no vegetables. My interest in the kanji roll was to find a rice free protein only alternative for when I am back to eating on plan with lean and green only and no rice or grain products. There is still some sort of wrapper but not see weed, and surrounding the avocado center is something crunchy perhaps breadcrumbs or rice crisps. My search will continue but it is delish for now. The tuna avocado and salmon avocado are still classic and just like I expected. Rice is fresh and sticky. Order was ready upon arrival in the timeframe they gave. Service was prompt and polite. I passed about 3 other sushi places on my way to try this one but I will keep it in mind for future trips to this side of West Ashley. Bonus, it was basically across from Krispy Kreme if you need to bribe your kids to join you on your sushi expedition. read more

Unfortunately, for us, this place did not provide that. We ordered four rolls (they had two different combinations of two rolls for a discount) and they all tasted the same to us, even though they were very different rolls. The young lady that took our order was very difficult to understand, her english was not very good at all. When she brought us our rolls and told us what each roll was, I couldnt even understand what she was saying even though I knew what the rolls were.
