Unsure of why so many bad reviews. This place is par for delicious ramen in the South Bay. Service is prompt and kind, the noodles are wavy and chewy, and the broth is thick and delicious. Wife got the tonkotsu. Asked for adding spice to level 3. Very rich broth, and plentiful toppings. The chashu was VERY thick. Standard ramen noodles in this one. I opted for the shisen black. Noodles are little different in this one, but still fantastic. It's similar to a higher quality version of Korean ramyun as far as its thickness, and was quite chewy like an egg noodle. I did wish it had meat though (only had tiny pieces of pork). The broth was very light and the noodles were good. If don't prefer a creamy broth you will probably like this. The black shisen ramen was ok, I wish the garlic taste was stronger. The red shisen ramen (level 1) was pretty good but it was spicy (I do not tolerate spice that well) do beware of that! The chasu was also pretty good, it was a little sweet. The miso tonkotsu tsukemen was ok. The noodles were a bit undercooked (in my opinion), and the broth was very rich. The rich miso ramen was (as it is called) very rich. Definitely would need to drink a lot of water if I ate the whole thing. But the broth has a good flavor. I used to love this place, but I think they have a new owner. Waiter had a language barrier and I said I wanted two bowls and instead got 1 bowl. Waited for my second bowl and they gave me thick noodle instead of regular ramen noodles!! Asked for a refund and she gave me a big deal out of it , until she called the manager. I've been coming to Ajido Ramen for about 5-7 years now, and it's disappointing to see how much the experience has declined. Prices used to be reasonable--Tenshin Fried Rice was around $8 back then--and the portions were generous. I completely understand that times change and inflation affects everyone, so higher prices are expected. But $18 for the same dish is a 250% increase, and it's crossing into unreasonable territory. Even so, nostalgia got the better of me, and I ordered it anyway. Unfortunately, the fried rice came out noticeably smaller than it used to be, and worse, the rice was undercooked to the point of having a hard core. I let the server know, and she kindly took it back. I switched to ramen, but the noodles arrived clumped together--as if they hadn't been stirred properly while cooking. The tsukemen broth was also barely warm when it should be steaming hot. What shocked me most was seeing another order of fried rice--presumably from the same undercooked batch--being served to another customer. The server mentioned the chef could "refry" the rice, but that doesn't fix undercooking. Undercooked rice needs to be properly re-steamed or remade entirely; otherwise, the texture is ruined. I'm not a professional chef, but I do know the basics: too little water in the rice cooker leads to this exact problem, and it's something that should never make it to a customer's plate. The kitchen should have caught it, and management should be ensuring quality control. I hope the owner takes a closer look at what's happening in the kitchen. Ajido used to be a reliable, enjoyable spot, but the decline in quality--combined with steep price hikes--makes it hard to recommend anymore. A little attention and care could go a long way in bringing this place back to what it once was. read more

Today we tried out Ramen Izakaya Ajido. My first impression of this restaurant situated in a strip mall is that it was not very clean. That ring said, we tried out their signature ramen, fried rice and gyoza dumplings. The dumplings could have been frozen and didn't seem like they were prepared at the restaurant. The fried rice was pretty average. Unfortunately, the pork chashu in my ramen was spoiled. It was sour and tasted like it has turned. The noodles were al dente and the soup was very average. The server was not very attentive. There are so many ramen restaurants that are so much better than this place, locally, that it's a pass for us. Avoid this place at all costs. This is by far the most disappointing ramen I've ever had. The noodles were hard, the egg was still frozen, and they even forgot to add the meat. When I asked them to fix it, they literally brought me frozen meat! I said I didn't want to eat it anymore and asked if they could at least give a small discount -- they refused and said, "We never do that. This is how we always serve it." I only tried this place once, but I wouldn't try it again. Can't speak for the inside as it was a delivery order, but the ramen broth didn't taste good, the ingredients were cold and didn't taste that fresh, and I ended up having a stomach ache after a little bit. Went here for lunch around 1pm and there was no wait at all. They updated their menu. I usually get the Red Miso Ramen, which is my absolute favorite. With the menu change, the ramen is now named the "spicy Rich miso ramen" instead of the red ramen, so I mistakenly ordered the Red Shisen Ramen, but it was cool to try something new for a change. For the Red Shisen Ramen, they had me choose the spice level. I got Level 1, which already had a good kick to it! If you're not good with spice, then this one definitely isn't for you. The flavor was alright. I honestly prefer their miso based broth. I added a flavored egg for 2.50 and I was so disappointed. Usually the egg is soft boiled, but today, the yolk was cooked well done all the way through. The egg didn't taste flavored either. I've gotten their flavored egg before and it has always been perfectly cooked and has the soft yolk, so today must have been an off day. Will definitely have to come back for the Rich miso ramen, but I'll probably skip the egg next time! read more

My family and I had what can only be described as an appalling dining experience here. The dysfunction started before we even sat down customers crowding and arguing over bar seats while a waitlist was supposedly in place. That alone should've been the first red flag. Once seated, the incompetence became even more obvious. We waited nearly 20 minutes with zero acknowledgment. No greeting. No waters. No "I'll be right with you." Nothing. We had to flag someone down just to say we were ready to order. What made it worse was that we were seated directly in front of the server's station right in front of their faces and still couldn't get a single bit of basic service. After placing our order, we were subjected to an hour-plus wait for food that, as we later found out, wasn't even being made. During this time, we watched multiple tables seated long after us receive their meals without issue. We even saw takeout orders completed while our table remained completely ignored. Not once were we offered refills or checked on. When we finally asked about the delay after 45+ minutes, the server informed us they hadn't even started making our food. The apology we received was half-hearted at best and felt more like an attempt to move past the situation than to actually take responsibility. It was clear our table simply wasn't a priority. To make matters worse, the restaurant didn't offer so much as a discount, a comped item, or any gesture acknowledging the sheer level of negligence we experienced. Instead, we were expected to pay full price for service that was nothing short of disrespectful. This was, without exaggeration, one of the most poorly managed and indifferent dining experiences we've ever had. Save yourself the frustration there are plenty of restaurants that actually value their customers' time and business. Never coming here again don't come here!!!! Food was mid at best, one piece of pork served to me lukewarm, chewy, felt like it was frozen and thawed out, noodles were good, broth was pretty decent and creamy. read more

Decent option for a weekend evening dinner, the wait to get seated was short but it took a while to place our order and get the food since there was only one employee seating and serving everyone. Food was alright, got the Red Shisen Ramen at level 3 which I'm grateful I didn't get any higher as it was quite spicy. It had good flavor though and the slice of chashu it came with was good. The employee even said if we wanted, we can ask for additional spice on the side which I forgot about because the one we got was already so spicy. Hot summer days! It certainly has been hot in LA lately but that did not stop me from checking out Ramen Izakaya Ajido. I'm a big ramen fan and so when I was in this area I decided to check this place out for lunch. I thought the place would be larger but it's actually quite small inside. There are only 3 tables and the rest is counter seating. No worries on the small interior however as they've got something big via their ramen offerings! They have lots of different offerings and I had a bit of hard time deciding which of the delicious looking items to try. I finally settled on getting their Black Shisen Ramen and my mom got their Coconut Ramen. We also got a side of chicken karaage. The chicken karaage came out first. Nice and crisp; it made for a good starter. I also liked the accompanying sauce which had a mayo like taste. For the ramens; I was really glad that we got two different ones. Both were good and tasty in their own unique way. The Coconut Ramen reminded me a bit of Thai soups. The Black Shisen had a slight spice to it. Both were very flavorful. I also liked that they gave a lot of ramen noodles. It was definitely a decent sized ramen bowl. It was a hot day when I checked this place out but I can definitely see me coming back here again on a colder or even rainy day. Went here with a group of 5 recently and really enjoyed the food, however, the place is super small so we had to get seated at the bar which made conversation difficult. I got the dip ramen. It was interesting because the broth tasted smoky to me. The noodle texture was my fave part. It tasted homemade. I'd probably get something different next time. Stopped by for the first time a few months ago, and I've been back a couple of times since. The surprise hit has been the spicy red miso ramen. It is not really hard to find solid miso ramen, but it is very easy to find bad miso ramen. Here, I thought the broth was pretty good, emphasized the miso flavor, and had good consistency. By the way, "red" and "spicy" are mutually exclusive. Red miso is not actually red, but it has a deeper flavor. You can try this rich miso flavor with or without spiciness! The price point is also agreeable. The portion sizes are decent and you can always order extra noodles. To-go orders are slow, which is good in a way because you know it is fresh. But if you are calling in an order to pick up, give yourself about 5 more minutes than they estimate. As for add-on toppings, the boiled egg wasn't great. read more

I was only able to get through half before getting full, so I took the rest home and finished the next day. I reheated it on my stove and it still tasted delicious. The soup comes out piping hot. Coconut ramen (11.95)- like tonkotsu ramen with a Thai curry flavor. It's very creamy. Chashu was average, it's like inconsistent, sometimes soft, sometimes over cooked. Red shisen ramen (12.95)- garlic flavor, the flavor is average. The level 1 (lowest level) spicy is really hot.
