I've been going to the location on Crenshaw pretty regularly for the last couple of years primarily because of the convenient location and nice service. I went there today with my vegan date, who ordered the vegetable ramen with kale noodles (instead of the normal egg noodles). Her order came to the table with egg noodles. No big deal, she told the server about the mistake and sent it back to be exchanged. When the ramen with kale noodles arrived, they were clumped together in blobs that had obviously not been prepared or cooked properly. Not wanting to send her meal back for a second time (we try not to piss off someone who can piss in our soup), she ate what she could and paid for the meal. She asked the server for an email address or other method of contacting the owner and was told that was not possible. It doesn't look like the owner, Jay J, responds to his Yelp reviews, so we're submitting this review to let you know that you have lost a couple of long-term, regular customers due to our inability to give you some private, constructive criticism about quality control in your kitchen. read more

This place totally surprised me! I was not expecting the ramen to be that good. I happened to walk by as I was headed to another restaurant, and decided to look at the menu. Since it wasn't too crowded, I decided to give it a try. They're located in the Torrance Crossroads Shopping Center near IHOP. It's a small restaurant with approximately 5 tables inside and a couple of tables outside. My advice would be to get there before their busy hours so you can eat the ramen when it comes out piping hot. I ordered the Garlic Bomb ramen with miso broth for $13. I love garlic and I wasn't planning on kissing anyone soon, haha! The ramen came out in less than 10 minutes and the broth was milky white. It coated the noodles perfectly and had the most amazing flavor. The garlic was surprisingly not too garlicky, but it was well integrated with the other ingredients. The texture of the noodles were chewy and there was lots of slurping going on in that restaurant! It comes in an oversized bowl, but don't be fooled by the amount that you get. It's actually a decent size! I noticed they had a wall of "Legends" and I'm assuming the people on the wall ate way too many bowls. The service was not the most attentive. There could be room for improvement there. I would return to try some of their other ramen options, along with some of their side dishes. A DineLA ramen run brought me to their location on Hawthorne Blvd and the experience there was memorable. I have since been back there a few times - they really were good food runs! Fast forward a few years later, I found myself on this side of Torrance. I was surprised to find one located here. I have been and gone to a few spots in this general area: Home Depot, Gen KBBQ, PIck-Up Stix (waaay on the other end), etc... why I didn't notice this place is beyond me. But I'm glad of the discovery. Party of 4, we were famished from running a few errands, and the majority of the group decided on ramen, being a cold SoBay night and all. There were a couple of tables open to accommodate our party, so it was nice just getting out of the cold and getting seated immediately. The menu is comparable to the one located on Hawthorne Blvd, so I pretty much had an idea what to get. The rest of my party, however, needed a couple of minutes. To hustle things up, I put in an order for a couple of apps: pork siomai and chicken karaage. PORK SIOMAI: Yeah you only get 4 pieces, but you get 4 big pieces. Much larger than the usual ones you get from other Asian digs. We were even able to cut each of them in 4's for small bites. Prepped and served hot and fresh. Came with soft dough and very generous filling (given its size and all.) It was good, but not great - the filling was a little dry and needed a little more umph. It can be better. CHICKEN KARAAGE: Like the siomai, it was prepped to order. It came through hot, so we let it sit for a minute before taking bites. Nice crunch on the outside and seasoned soft on the inside. But like the siomai, it needed a little more umph as well. Good, but can be better. GARLIC BOMB RAMEN (with a side of soft boiled egg:) It is what it says it is: garlic BOMB! The broth was infused with garlic and great depth. The noodles were cooked a perfect chew. The chasiu had parts of slight dryness, but good overall. The one thing missing: the egg. When I asked for it, they mistakenly put it in someone else's bowl. It was fine, sure, but I still wanted it, so I simply just put in another order. Man, that egg was cooked perfect. It added to each bite I took. FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. Not very much interaction, and other than the egg gaffe, better than average. VALUE: 4. Pretty comparable to most ramen places. PARKING: Huge lot shared with others, but this place is really popular, so it could be a challenge depending on the day and time you come through. Plan accordingly. OVERALL: 4. It was a good first run! It hit all of our hunger pangs just right and we left satisfied. Needless to say, they are now in my list of good eats should I find myself around this area again. read more

One of my top 3 ramen places hands down. My favorite one is the wonton ramen, level 3 and i add a flavored egg. So delicious and the perfect amount of spice. The customer service is really good as well, everyone is friendly and you dont feel rushed. The restaurant is also decorated beautifully, very warm and inviting. read more

Docking it because they didn't really check in on us and I had to get their attention for water refills. Ambience & Parking: cozy and chill! As for the parking, there is plenty of parking. However, the lots do get full so you may need to park a bit farther. Food: Edamame: 7.5/10 the flavor was good but some of the edamames on the inside were drenched in the sauce so it took over the whole taste for me. I had to take some sauce off some of them because it was too much. Custom Ramen: 8.5/10 I did a custom ramen (salt base, no onions and added sprouts and spinach) and it was delicious !! I did add some of the chili oil and it was good. I did have to add spinach and bean sprouts and it was worth it for me. Pork was tender and good!! I would give 0 stars. the older tweeker blonde waitress made me very uncomfortable. im a three time legend at the San Pedro location. because I don't carry the photo with me for "proof" I was treated very poorly when I told them. they talked very loudly about me trying to "get free" toppings the entire time i ate until I got receipt. So, I was sad that the other chicken place that sells bone in wings was closed on a Monday and so I opted to this place considering it looked good, menu simple. But if you like Ramen, then I can't speak for that. Next time I am craving bone in chicken wings then I am going to wait for a better place to eat. I got the chicken torikara don. Very disappointed because I wanted a to go item with chicken and rice. Thought no Asian place can mess this up, I was so dead wrong. It was $12.50+ for a not so hungry person. And there were "fillers" like crunchy things with no chicken in it. Ok, so I could have gone to Panda Express and literally get something better than this?! So whatever you do, open up your food in front of the cashier and tell them their ain't any chicken in this plate or please redo the order, god forbid they would redo it in good faith! I've been to their San Pedro locations. But I work nearby and last night was a chilly windy night. I called ahead to place a to go order. They said it would take 15 mins which was fairly quick. I ordered food for my sister and my family. We ordered the pork siomai, 2 spicy chasu ramen, and 1 chasu ramen with shoyu base. We loved it! I ordered the shacho spicy miso ramen. Spice level medium has a hint of spice but might be a bit mild for those who enjoy spicy food. The soup had quite a bit of miso in it. There is only 1 piece of pork charsiu compared to other places that give a few. I personally don't really care for the pork so doesn't really bother me but something to consider. They also have a good selection of toppings and flavor bombs to enhance the soup. I personally love adding corn. The inside is casual and a bit small but plenty of seating whenever I've visited. You can get your picture on the wall if you finish the spicy ramen challenge. I haven't tried any of the spicier options but it looks like they have quite a range. I was pleasantly surprised by the sacho ramen in fact. My friend comes for the curry ramen which she absolute loves. The reason for the 3 stars is because it doesn't wow me. Open for outdoor dining; First time here and I enjoyed it!!! Mother got the grilled chx ramen and it was good. Same hearty miso broth just with chx topping I believe. I got the spicy ramen level 2. It had a slight kick with all the flavor. Added a flavored egg and bam it was sooo delicious. I could probably go up to level 3. It is spicy you can taste the habanero. I honestly was pleasantly surprised and was happy. I love spicy.. like to the point of challenges. I wouldn't do that with ramen though...that hot broth deserves to be savored. Haha. I got the Koi Ramen with spicy miso broth and it was super tasty! Had the perfect amount of spice. I added bean sprouts to the ramen for the extra crunch, which I recommend. The miso broth has a lot of flavor, and the pork slice that it came with was super tender and well marinated. We got the gyoza as an appetizer, which was yummy as well! My kids love this place and we do too. We usually get the kids ramen which is a pretty good deal and comes with a good amount of noodles. They like the shoyu based broth. I had been coming continuously to this location because their food is good but what really made me stop coming here is that the waitress decided to run after me when I was walking to my car and demand that if I don't leave a tip then I should just order takeout. Like excuse me? I am not entitled to tip you if the service is mediocre at best. The waiter I had took way too long to take my order and didn't even come to check on me during my meal. They allow dine-in now! The shacho ramen had nice flavor and a generous thick slice of pork chashu. I wish there were more veggies in it, but it was mostly just a giant bowl of noodles with a few bits of bean sprouts and some tiny bits of ground pork. Adding vinegar in the broth gave it a tangy kick. The gyoza was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. The chashu don was a bowl of rice with meat and egg on it. Definitely very filling. Service was nice. Received a reply from owner Jay. I have since removed my revenge review about the flavor [as it was the service that sucked]--altho i truly felt the origin of the soyp base was from the place i mentioned. I only referenced Wakou USA, as I worked there and we made a similar soup base--i'd consider myself to be a ramen pro when it comes to soup bases, as well as Kaizen to organize companies. Unfortunately, their ingredients don't come from Japan whatsoever.. no matter what they say as I know all ingredients they used in my head. Anyway, with the horrible service, I will keep the star, but do appreciate the owner reaching out. However, while i appreciate Jay for reaching out, I do hope its not only words, but actions to actually correct the situation and proper re-training of employees. The Latina lady waiting tables doesn't give the vibe of being apologetic, I would recommend an attitude change to stop faking being sorry and using "Sorry for the wait because of such and such"..people don't care for a generic reason. The table of Filipinos next to us was getting food late...bit by bit and I heard that same phrase n then it came to us, so I knew it wasn't real. Also if she's gonna speak to the kitchen people in the back in spanish to get their act together or tell them what to get, just go help them instead of just wait outside of kitchen--someone needed to help organize them from the order point of view. No one there get that organized so hence the mess up. I'd be glad to consult with u on proper business protocol--kaizen, 5S, 5W1H, FIFO, etc. as that is my profession. read more

My coworkers and I come here once in awhile for ramen. They have great staff here who are friendly and attenuative. The ramen is decent but it's not amazing considering the sheer number of competition in Torrance. I had the garlic bomb ramen. The garlic flavor was really great but the broth was lacking the rich pork broth that other ramen places have. The size was a little small for the price as well.
