CW from top left: Chicago fire (6pcs, $9), Rainbow roll (8pcs, $12), Boston roll (6pcs, $6), spicy tuna (6pcs, $7), Alaska roll (6pcs, $6)

KATANA MAGURO These sushi samurai at Boughton & Weber Rd have never let us down. One of the first things my wife and I researched when we moved to the area was "where can I find good sushi in Bolingbrook?" As it turns out, quality nigiri was closer than we thought--only 2mi away from the house. KO is situated in a strip mall between Pearle Vision and Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Gyoza (6 for $5.50) are tasty pan fried pork dumplings with ponzu, a vinegar-soy dipping sauce. Edamame ($4.50) are standard steamed soybeans, a solid snacking appetizer. Miso soup ($2.50) is a prerequisite with our sushi order, and it's included with all lunch specials. Basic maki have been consistent across each visit, specifically the Alaska roll (salmon, avocado, cucumber; $6), Boston roll (shrimp, avocado, mayo; $6), spicy tuna roll (6pcs for $7), and Rainbow roll (assorted fish over California roll; 8pcs for $12). For the more adventurous eaters, I recommend the Snow White roll (shrimp, crab, cucumber, topped w/tuna & tempura bits; $14), the Spider roll (crab, lettuce, avocado, topped w/eel sauce & tobiko; $14), or the Chicago fire roll (deep fried spicy tuna; 6pcs for $9). They'll give you a complimentary California roll on orders of $25 or more, while spending $60 nets you half a Godzilla roll. This freebie is the only major difference between KO and Otobo, the other sushi house in the vicinity that we frequent. * TL;DR * Just as the samurai were trained with a sword & bow, the sushi chefs at KO are master manipulators of rice & nori. Although 90% of our orders have been of the takeout variety, we've yet to encounter an issue (and I'm sure I just jinxed it). Nichole S recently enjoyed a sashimi lunch for dine-in and had a great experience. Staff are friendly and the free rolls are a nice perk. When it comes to dependable sushi at a fair price, KO can hang with the best of them. Totally recommended.

Great food and ambience and the Service is terrific. I use to come here weekly when I lived in the Brook.

Squid Salad

Hidden Gem in Bolingbrook, nice place to have drinks and meet up with friends. Salmon Teriyaki dinner comes with Miso Soup and Salad. Salmon portion was a very generous size, fresh and well seasoned. Squid Salad was delicious, it was made with some attention to detail( fresh veggies on the bottom, thinly sliced hot peppers, vinaigrette sauce, light sesame oil and various spices) - Highly Recommend. Spicy Roll (Soft Shell Crab) was also good as well. Restaurant was on the smaller side but had a very good atmosphere and well decorated. Service was good and restaurant was clean. Thank you

Godzilla roll

The food is delicious, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu I feel. The godzilla rolls are some of the best sushi rolls I've had. Everything comes out nice and hot. The dumplings are delicious, and the sauce is great. We tried one of tue 2 drinks for 2 people that is rum and it was great. Not to mention only $15. The service is great, never feel rushed.

Tiger roll

I wanted to treat my wife to dinner, but as usual, we were indecisive on where to go. After some Googling, my wife found Ko Sushi, a place we had never been to. So we went. It's located in a small strip mall at Weber & Boughton. The interior was okay. It was spacious and the decor was fine, but it felt like it wasn't kept up very well. And the washroom felt dark and seedy. Interior aside, the menu was vast, pricing was reasonable, and service was friendly. We ordered a Firecracker roll, a Tiger roll, and shrimp pad thai. Both rolls were excellent, but the Tiger roll stole the show. It was perfect. The Firecracker roll was good, too, but the calamari made it rather chewy. The pad thai was also good, although my wife and son weren't huge fans. Actually, my son didn't like it at all, even though he typically likes noodles. I liked the flavor of the sweet & sour sauce, though, and once I added sriracha sauce it really kicked it up a notch. Not a bad place for Asian food.

Excellent value and quality sushi party trays. We were able to order and pickup same day.

AYCE Lunch Menu with inflated pricing
Patrick W.

I used to really enjoy this place for AYCE, but since reopening after the pandemic, their increased pricing, and curtness of the wait staff has made it less than palatable. While I want to help support Bolingbrook restaurants, I'll happily jaunt over to Sushi City in Woodridge until KO can get their act together.

Sashimi lunch combo
Nichole S.

Ko Sushi is one of my new neighborhood sushi places. During COVID, they have takeout only. They have a nice setup with a glass barrier between employees and customers. Even the card reader is behind the glass with a tiny slit for you to insert your card. My first time there was during lunch time on a weekday. I checked their menu online and decided on a sashimi lunch combo ($12). I called my order in and only waited 20 minutes before picking my lunch up. My sashimi combo was a great value for 12 pieces of sashimi, a miso soup, and a bowl of sticky rice. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, the miso soup nice and salty, and the rice looked great. I will definitely be coming here regularly from now on!

The Love Boat plus Rainbow Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll
Celeste B.

I'm so happy that they've reopened and now provide takeout. I was very pleased with my to-go order! Everything was super fresh and the quality is really good. I'm all about the fish when I eat sushi so when I ordered the Love Boat to go, I wasn't quite sure if it would transition well as if I ate it at the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised because it more than exceeded my expectations. My order came with some miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. They even threw in a free deep fried maki roll! If you want quality sushi in the Bolingbrook area, definitely give Ko Sushi a try!

The chefs signature rolls are so innovative, I've never had any rolls like them anywhere else! The flavors were surprising and delicious! With flavors like a truffle vinaigrette, garlic sauce and strawberry and mango featured in maki we were blown away with flavor! It was all so good. And it was beautifully plated. Also unique, Chef Soon has nigiri that also features unique flavor combinations an we had several that were so so tasty. I want to go back and try more! My favorite bite of the night is a tie between Chef Soon's Special Maki and the Zuke Salmon signature nigiri. The vibes of this restaurant are so hip for being in an unassuming location. We felt like we were downtown Chicago with the quality and atmosphere! We can't wait to go back!

If you're a cheesecake fan, it's a pretty sad way to end the meal. Thankfully my last sushi bite was the Zuke salmon, which is always excellent. We spent around $350, which normally isn't an issue because we've had great experiences here in the past. But this visit was frustrating. My sister-in-law has a serious allergy to seeds and peanuts, and we were crystal clear about needing no sesame. In the past, the staff has been extremely careful and accommodating. This time, two rolls came out with sesame. We were willing to let those slide and said it was fine. But then they brought out a third roll with sesame--and that's when we got agitated. At that point, it really ruined the shared meal we were hoping for. What was safe tasted great, but the repeated mistakes took the enjoyment out of the experience. We weren't in any rush, but it definitely felt like the kitchen was winding down for the night. Chef Soon also wasn't there, which was disappointing because it genuinely felt like the attention to detail wasn't the same without him. And not to sound cheap, but after that many allergy-related mistakes, there should have been some sort of acknowledgment of an apology, actions speak louder than words. In my opinion a small discount, a complimentary dessert or app, something should have been offered. Instead, nothing. Chef soon is my favorite sushi restaurant. I often tell anyone in Illinois it's the best I've been to here. Normally this is a solid five-star spot for us, but tonight was a three out of five at best. Mistakes happen, and I'll be back... but this visit was honestly pretty upsetting. I think I may be on a search for a new favorite sushi place for my sister.

Our server, Katie, was amazing. She was attentive, funny, and gave great recommendations on both food and drinks. The menu has a wide variety of options, so her guidance definitely helped. We ordered hibachi, which was delicious and a fun experience. The chef put on a great show and even gave us cues for slow motion videos, which made it extra memorable. A few people in our group ordered sushi and said it was really good as well. I had the shrimp dinner and added calamari on the side. The shrimp portion was generous, and everything tasted great. My only complaint is the noodles. They were very thin, similar to Pad Thai noodles, and I personally prefer thicker hibachi noodles. The soup was one of the best I've tasted. The ambiance was cute and spacious, with a cool fish tank and the drinks were a highlight. I had a coconut sake drink that was so good I'd honestly go back just for that. The beef was a little tough, but overall not bad. I liked that the dish was not dry at all. From the Thai dishes, I would say that the food is pretty good.
