I found three things I didn't know I needed within the first ten minutes. the selection is genuinely impressive across categories. fiction, nonfiction, history, art, local interest, vintage stuff you won't find anywhere else. prices are what used books should cost, nothing felt overpriced and I felt like I was getting a deal on basically everything I picked up. the R Street location is perfect, great neighborhood, easy to make it part of a longer afternoon in Sacramento. staff was friendly and clearly knows the store well. there's something about a good independent bookstore that just makes a city feel more alive and Beers Books absolutely does that for Sacramento. if you're visiting or you live there and haven't been, go on a slow afternoon and give yourself time to actually wander. you'll find something.

The store was on the smaller side, but actually bigger than I expected in looking from the outside. The had some unique books. They had a children's section in the back of the store, and it looks like they do story time events and other things. The store was also quite busy! As others have mentioned, the selection has some gaps, but I imagine you could easily order a book you want that isn't in stock. I enjoyed browsing the shelves and seeing employee recommendations. When I made it to the poetry selection, I was happy to see that it wasn't all mainstream or classic poets, and I ended up picking up a few new collections. There's an extensive children's and young adult section in the back, and the store also sells things like book-related jewelry, some cards, and a ton of cute stickers (I may have gone overboard on buying some of those). They also sell local zines, which I think is awesome. If you make a zine, you can contact them to see about selling them in the store. The front table has free bookmarks, handouts, community announcements, etc., and the person at the register let me put some of my zines on the table for people to take for free. All in all, a cute spot, and one I'd visit regularly if I lived in town.

It is only a couple of blocks from the park and is so perfect for book and book themed/related shopping. They have lots of different genres and the store is organized so you can easily find what you are looking for. They have tons of bookmarks, stickers, keychains, reading lights etc.. The shop is beautiful inside, there's a couch by the big windows where you could spend some time hanging out in the natural light, the staff were super nice and friendly, and the prices are affordable/standard but not overpriced. I love that this shop, like so many other local's businesses/bookstores, prioritizes not only supporting their community but being inclusive and welcoming to all during a time like now. Will definitely be back to browse more once I finish my current reading stack.

Glad I got to check out this beautiful Black-owned bookshop in Oak Park this past weekend. The…read moreinside is well organized, every section is labeled (fiction, nonfictions children's, religious/spiritual, cooking etc.), and they also have tons of community resources and products from local businesses. It's obvious that this shop supports progressive ideas and values community and solidarity, they are proud to uplift Black authors and speakers. The workers were really nice and it was lovely walking around and checking out all the various options they have. The location is great at 40 Acres right across the Plant Foundry and around the corner from Old Soul. If you have been in yet, definitely come check it out and support a local business.

The staff is always friendly and willing to help you whenever you need it. On this particular day I arrived, and as I entered, I was welcomed in, which I appreciated. I quickly went to look for a book (Red Rising) that I had heard was a great read, and when I couldn't find it on the shelf, I went to the front door and asked the lady how it was organized and she let me know it was by theAuthor's last name. However, on the way back to the shelf, I did find it on a table on the new and hot items list. Somehow, being in a bookstore with other book lovers, you just feel a different vibe that you don't feel when you're outside of those doors. I am not sure if it was the Older that helped me or not she was super sweet and kind and I found a book that was not priced yet which she went ahead and priced I went ahead and purchased two books that day. I'm in the middle of getting rid of a lot of things at home otherwise I would've got more I am around this area once a month so I do plan on coming back and there are a couple chairs so you could actually sit down and probably read through some of the book if you wanted to before deciding what you wanna get I am an all with this place. It is not huge, but it has a huge variety and you could spend hours in here. I can't wait to be able to come and just spend some time there kind of look around more.
