I don't think I've ever wrote a review like this before but wow, this place is just awful. I ordered 2 different sushi rolls and not only was the rice improperly cooked, but the "fresh" fish on top of one of the rolls I ordered was partially frozen cold! Think frozen shrimp cocktail that you buy at Walmart and de-thaw before serving. It was like that. I couldn't even finish my food, I asked for a box and threw it away as soon as I got home. It wasn't just bad, it was nearly inedible. I'm not even a sushi snob, but I regret not looking at the reviews prior to going to this place. read more

We love this place! Although we can afford to eat here all the time we go once a month. The portions are huge and delicious, we always sit at the hibachi and order KC Strip and chicken. We share our entree just so we can order a ton of their delicious sushi! The only downfall is the service is never that great but gets better every time we go. I love this place! Simon is one of the best! Food is always tasty! Everyone is kind and personable.

Been to Kobe's 3-4 times and the Hibachi was good every time. Never ordered the sushi but have seen someone else order it and they said it was good. The SHOW gets old after a few times but that can be expected but the kids always enjoy it. The vegetables are sparse, only 3-4 kinds but this doesn't bother me much, but it bothers my wife. The grill is better than KoKoRo's. So we usually get Sushi there and hibachi here. Price is reasonable and the wait staff fast and helpful. read more

Every thing about this place was great the food the staff was great and on top of everything and the food peroration was great entertainment the price is good for the amount of food you get we had to get Togo boxes we did have to wait about 30 minutes but they do take reservations read more

Been this place many time. See ups and downs. But overall it is my favorite hibachi place in town. Food was above average and we always have a lot left to take home. Just a heads up that making a reservation helps to be seated early on the weekends, but Sunday - Thursday usually no wait. read more

My niece and I came in to order takeout, sushi and hibachi. The hostess had zero personality and social skills, made us both feel like we were more of an inconvenience. When I asked for sauce on the side and tried to describe yum-yum sauce (I have never been to a Japanese steak house that didn't have it), she had the audacity to laugh at me. I told her I wouldn't have asked for it if it wasn't the best stuff ever on shrimp and fried rice. Of course when I said "yum-yum" she said "oh yeah, lots of people ask for that, we don't have it here". It made me feel small and pissed me off. After we got our food in a bag, I asked if there were forks and chopsticks in the bag, she said "yes they are in the bag". Had to wait about 6 more minutes to get some ginger sauce, place wasn't really that busy. Got all the way back to our hotel room and of course, no flipping utensils. My niece had to go all the way back and get some. As for the food, definitely a 4 star. The sushi and hibachi were great, would have been better with the yum-yum sauce. I'm giving it a one star because of the customer service. I suppose if we were sitting at a table and they would have gotten a bigger tip, we may have been treated better and not had to interact with the stale hostess. read more

This place is great for anyone who enjoys dinner and a show. The prices are affordable and the chefs are entertaining and friendly. They are quite skilled with the cutlery, as well. The sushi is actually very well-made and at a reasonable price. Great place for a small group! read more

One of the worst experiences we've had at a restaurant in a long time. We had reservations for 7pm. When we arrived, there were several empty tables. Four groups came in after us and were seated. There were still two tables available, but we were not seated. We inquired about when we would be seated, we were told they were waiting for a family to leave an occupied table. We asked about the two empty tables, why couldn't we be seated there? The response was because we reserved that other table for you and those people are taking longer than expected. I would understand if the restaurant was full, but there were other empty tables available. Finally at 7:30 we asked one more time for one of the other tables, again we were told no, we had to wait for the occupied table. We called the other Japanese restaurant down the street, Kokoros, they had a table available, so we left and had a wonderful dinner at Kokoros. We will not be returning to Kobe. read more

The food was excellent. The chef was great; he added extra spices just how I like my food. Very pleased with my experience here.

I LOVE eating here!! The food is ALWAYS sooooooooo good and I leave happy and full! The waiter took a little bit to grab us more drinks but this happens sometimes in the restaurant industry! We had to wait around a long time before someone even approached us (at least 15 minutes) and once we were seated it was pretty slow compared to other Hibachi places I have been to. The food was decent, but some of our food (particularly our rice), was overcooked and some of it was burnt. They were pretty busy when we went there, but I do not think they were busy enough to justify waiting for so long without someone at least coming over and greeting us briefly. read more

I went to this restaurant with a bachelorette party. We had a reservation but still waited for 20-25 minutes before we decided to leave. As we were getting up someone came over and and said try didn't realize we had been waiting. The restaurant was less then half full and we had a party of 16-18. They charge 18% gratuity so they would have made good money off of our party. Very disappointed. read more

We had sushi, not hibachi. Service was incredibly fast and attentive, sushi was excellent, and it was a lot of food for the money!

Kobe is one of my favorite places to eat in Lawrence. Their food is great and the chefs have always been entertaining and friendly. I am not a Sushi person, so I can't give an accurate review there, but the steak/chicken and shrimp is awesome. read more

I went in for a takeout order here tonight. I ordered a fairly pricey meal - Sirloin Beef and Chicken combo with a side of gyoza. According to the menu, this meal should have come with a clear Japanese soup and a salad with ginger dressing. I got home and both of the items were missing. I called the restaurant, and was informed by the gentleman i spoke to that for To-Go orders, you have to tell them you want the soup and salad, or you don't get it. BUT, the price is the same. I asked if the menu says that, and he said no. He said he would make me soup and salad if I wanted to come back and get it, but I got this as a To-Go order and was already home by this point and didn't want to drive back there to get something that should have been included in the first place. In addition to this issue, the food I did get was extremely salty. I don't believe I will be going back here anytime soon. In addition to the salty food, I don't appreciate being cheated with this "you have to tell us if you want it" line. If something is on the menu as included - it should be given, with or without an additional special request to include it. read more
