Hibachi Steak & Scallops with Fried Rice
    Judy I.

This was my first visit to Kobe Japanese Grill. I read many very good reviews about it. You order at a counter, fix your own drinks, and eat on styrofoam plates and use plastic silverware. I have no problem with any of that. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was clean but outdated. Food was plentiful! I ordered hibachi steak and scallops. Scallops were tasty even though they were on the small side. When ordering, I asked about the size of the scallops, and thought they'd be bigger by what I was told. Overall, I would rate my meal average.

I love how courteous they are once you come in. They are soo friendly even though they have many things going on at once. I love how generous they are with their portions too. I had enough for lunch and dinner. Its also a clever move to serve people on foam plate or throw away plates and foam cups. Less clean up and more cost effective. That waY they just cook and dont have to worry about doing excess dishes. It passes the savings on to the customers My husband and I both got hibachi steak and veg. But completely forgot to take pictures of it as soon as it got to the table we dug right in. If you havent visited this place you are surly missing out. They are friendly and fast, food is delicious. Very affordable$$ What more coukd you ask for. Just a great little Japaneese food place in Reidsville.

Kobe just opened in reidsville, so we had to check it out. You order at the counter and they bring your food out when it's ready. They were pretty busy when we came in so we had to wait a bit to order, no big deal. This gave me plenty of time to review the menu and make my choices! The lady at the register took our order and gathered our soups and drink cups quickly. I went with the chicken and steak combo, all rice/no veggies... because I'm picky. The steak and chicken were great. I ordered my steak medium, and it was so delicious and tender. The white sauce was okay, not the best I've had but not as good some others. The plastic forks were really small and thin, making it hard to eat with. I ended up using my soup spoon most of the meal. Overall the food was really good, and they kept up with cleaning tables off quickly after people left. They have a lot of other items on the menu that I would like to try, so we will back for more!

Habachi is very good, sushi is okay, my husband likes the sushi but I'm not a huge fan of it with how thick and chewy the rice was but I'd recommend the hibachi

Dry and flavorless today. What has happened used to be good? Probably won't eat there again. Hit or miss situation!

Kobe has some great sushi. I can't get enough of the Miso soup. I wish the restaurant was bigger.

I was happy to see this owner turn this into a great restaurant. The ingredients were fresh and not cooked in advance.

This is not a sushi restaurant. They do not serve sushi or sashimi, only rolls. Would have given this no starts if I could.

The amount of food was a lot and the price was decent. I couldn't finish my meal. There was a whole plate of steak and veggies with two scoops of rice. I also got a miso soup and side salad with my meal. The miso soup was decent. And the side salad was a small bowl of lettuce, which was what you'd expect. I enjoyed my food with all their sauces but probably liked their ginger sauce the best. The meat was cooked as requested, medium rare. Rice was "fried rice" but not like the fried rice I'm used to--just seemed like seasoned rice, but I wasn't heart broken about that. There were lots of tables and the check out was easy enough. No complaints here.

A great week night dinner spot when you don't feel like cooking and faster/more inexpensive than driving to Greensboro to have "cook in front if you" Japanese. It's also just as good IMO. Their wait staff is usually a pretty young crowd (high school/teenage kids) but we've never left feeling like the service was bad. And our food is always good. Steak and shrimp cooked perfectly with mounds of fluffy rice. They have also added an array of sushi as of late that is great in flavor and price. Definitely worth a try if you live in the area and haven't been by in a while!

My family and I ate there this week, and disappointing doesn't begin to describe out experience. Appearance is not so tidy, dark and unkept feeling. We constantly had to swat away flies from our table (which was covered in salt and NOT cleaned before our seating). Our food tasted mediocre, however I wasn't going to complain. Once I had almost finished my meal I saw a live bug crawling out of my rice. I immediately called the waitress over and showed her as well as made my family quit eating. The owner offered to recook my meal, but I felt as if I could hurl and would never order another meal there. I told the waitress I didn't want another meal after this incident and that I would be in contact with the health dept. after saying that, the owner voided our ticket. Was sick to my stomach the entire day following our visit. The bug could not fly, only crawl. The owner was smiling as if he found it amusing. Completely unacceptable!

It honestly just seems like they're using up the vegetables they didn't use in the egg roll, so it doesn't go to waste. My biggest concern is the sanitation; when I walked inside it smelt a little off and if you see below; a fellow yelper posted a picture of a fly in their food.

Most of them are wearing sweatpants and T-shirts, which is just different; however, they work, and they have employees, which is difficult nowadays. The facilities are extremely clean. They had a good sanitation rating. I cannot recall what it is. The imp important thing to know is if you do not eat all your rolls, they will charge you a dollar per piece that you do not eat, including if you leave the rice when you order sushi. Then they can contribute a portion of that money to the No Child Goes Hungry charity, which I think is pretty cool. I am actually thinking about going there again for dinner tonight, which would be two nights in a row. The total for the sushi, two beers, and a tip was right at $40, which I think is very reasonable.

They have a decent selection of appetizers, nigiri, specialty rolls, and other items, so it's fun being able to try a little bit of everything instead of committing to just a few rolls. The sushi is good for an all you can eat restaurant. I've definitely had better quality sushi elsewhere, but considering how much food you get, I really can't complain. One thing I'd recommend is ordering everything you think you'll want in your first round. There's a 90-minute time limit, and once your initial order comes out, the server doesn't check back very often. They do charge $1 for every leftover piece, but if you're with a group, it's usually not hard to finish everything. If you're just looking to satisfy a sushi craving without breaking the bank, Mr. Tokyo is definitely worth checking out!
