A doctor that actually listens and cares? Yes please! A…read moredoctor that doesn't make you wait? Double yes please! A doctor whose entire staff is friendly and caring? Sign me up. Thank you to Patriot Family Medicine for a great experience and my new go-to office for all my future medical needs

I am currently giving this practice three stars, although I plan to give the doctor and staff…read moreanother opportunity before making a final judgment. My initial experience with Sam, the nurse practitioner, and the physician assistant was very pleasant. They were warm, professional, and made me feel optimistic that I had found a family practice where I could establish long-term care. Unfortunately, my experience changed after my laboratory results became available. A receptionist named Britney called me and immediately began discussing my results without first asking whether I was in a private place or prepared to receive medical information. I was at work and had to interrupt her and ask her to wait while I moved somewhere private. I had assumed she was calling only to schedule a follow-up appointment. I believe staff members discussing medical information should always confirm that the patient is able to speak privately before sharing results. When I returned for my follow-up appointment, there also appeared to be some confusion at the front desk. Although I had confirmed my appointment the previous day, the doctor stated that he had not known I was coming and had taken another patient before me. He apologized, but the delay made me late for work. Once I was called back, the process felt rushed. I was quickly directed onto the scale and then placed in a room with a medical student. I was not asked whether I was comfortable having a student participate in my appointment. The student repeatedly described my hormonal status in a way that did not match what I had previously been told, and our discussion about vitamin D supplementation felt dismissive rather than collaborative. I was also uncomfortable with the student shifting and rocking from side to side in my peripheral vision while the doctor discussed some concerning health information. That made an already stressful conversation more difficult. Later, when the doctor returned and spoke with me privately, the interaction was much more comfortable. He was pleasant, made eye contact, explained things more clearly, and ultimately did a good job addressing my concerns. I wish the receptionist had demonstrated a better understanding of patient privacy, that I had been asked for consent before a medical student joined the appointment, and that the visit had not felt so rushed. Staffing problems, scheduling confusion, and the absence of a manager may explain why the office was having a difficult day, but patients should not have to absorb the consequences. Overall, the doctor handled the appointment well toward the end, and my first visit with the other clinical staff had been positive. I spent considerable time researching family-practice physicians because I hoped to establish ongoing care here. For that reason, I am willing to give the doctor and the office another chance before deciding whether this practice is the right fit for me.

Easy to talk to, thorough, and listens closely to what you say. His nurse practitioner or physicians assistant is young and not nearly as thorough or proactive. One thing that I disagree with is that they will close for lunch on some days. It's called urgent care and they should be available whenever they are open. There is not a lunch listed on their schedule. Dr. Kodama has been our primary care physician for 25 years also. He has been an excellent doctor for many years. Unfortunately, I think he is looking towards retirement, and the quality of the practice has gone down as he has hired some young physician assistants and nurse practitioners to see patients rather than him. Getting to see him how is hard, and when you do, I feel like he is not as thorough as he used to be. The physician assistants are very quick to grab onto one idea of what is going on and send you prescriptions, but they are more times than I would like. They also don't listen very well when you talk to them about side effects or about the medication not working at all. Overall, our family still goes to this practice, we just need to be persistent in getting the care we need if we are dealing with the nurse practitioners or physicians assistants.

They tried to pin it on me and that I didn't have the proper paperwork. I was able to conjure up the paperwork in less than 10 minutes. After I was issued my paperwork, I questioned about the medical exam certificate, which is essential for when I go to the dmv. "Oh you don't need that" I was told. I go to the DMV, and waited another hour, they asked about the certificate. I was not issued that, Carbon Health said I didn't need it. I call Carbon Health, stating that I needed the certificate, and that I will be there in 10 minutes. I asked if they would have it ready by the time I arrive. Now they inform me, "Oh, you don't have to go to the DMV". Carbon Health didn't tell me about that. Frankly, I don't trust them anymore. I came here because it was convenient, local, and thought trustworthy. Turns out they were only local. Don't come here if you need a DOT medical certification. They are not well organized, equipped, and their customer service is lacking. It would have been nice to not to have to go to the dmv provided if they told me. Something that should have taken me a couple of hours to complete start to finish is now taking me late morning to all afternoon to finish. This is the last time I will ever be coming here. This place is the Keystone Cops of healthcare. Don't know how the rest of their services are, but for DOT certification, they are terrible.

We are new to the area and decided to try Coastal Kids in Moorpark. While the pediatricians we've…read moremet have been great..kind, thorough, and attentive. The front office experience has been the complete opposite. In my interactions, the office staff has been consistently rude and dismissive over the phone & in person. It genuinely feels as though they dislike their jobs, and that attitude shows in the way they treat families. It's really disappointing, because the doctors themselves are wonderful, but the atmosphere created by the front desk is incredibly frustrating.

He basically spent an hour with us and nothing came out of it that we couldn't get from a Google search. Then, I had to call the office to inquire about whether we'd be receiving some sort of report that we could provide the school with describing his official interpretation and we got a photo copy of his inconclusive, chicken scratch notes. Also, the receptionist in the Moorpark office is totally rude and careless. She provided us with a questionnaire that the school/teacher was supposed to fill out prior to the assessment. The school said their policy is to deliver it to the doctor's office themselves. I informed the receptionist of this and confirmed that she would only schedule the assessment after receiving the school's input. But then at our appointment, Dr. Goldstein informed us they hadn't received anything from the school. The school also confirmed that they hadn't completed the questionnaire yet. I called the receptionist to inquire as to why she scheduled the assessment when she hadn't received the school's responses and she had no answer nor seemed concerned in the slightest that she wasted everyone's time. Looking for another pediatrician; I suggest you do the same.
