During the visit, it became clear that Dr. Takeda was unable or unwilling to help with my medication, which ultimately made the appointment unproductive for the issue I was seeking help with due to my pcp being gone for 4 weeks. What I found frustrating was that this was not communicated before the appointment or at the beginning of the appointment. Had I known that the medication could not be addressed during the visit, I could have explored other options sooner. I was later informed that other providers within the practice may have been able to assist, but this information was not provided until after significant discussion. The office staff was courteous and professional throughout the process. My concern is with the coordination of care and communication regarding medication when a primary physician is unavailable for 4 weeks. Patients should have clear guidance about available options and continuity of care, especially when appointments are scheduled for a specific purpose and half of the providers are only working 3 days a week.

Easy to talk to, thorough, and listens closely to what you say. His nurse practitioner or physicians assistant is young and not nearly as thorough or proactive. One thing that I disagree with is that they will close for lunch on some days. It's called urgent care and they should be available whenever they are open. There is not a lunch listed on their schedule. Dr. Kodama has been our primary care physician for 25 years also. He has been an excellent doctor for many years. Unfortunately, I think he is looking towards retirement, and the quality of the practice has gone down as he has hired some young physician assistants and nurse practitioners to see patients rather than him. Getting to see him how is hard, and when you do, I feel like he is not as thorough as he used to be. The physician assistants are very quick to grab onto one idea of what is going on and send you prescriptions, but they are more times than I would like. They also don't listen very well when you talk to them about side effects or about the medication not working at all. Overall, our family still goes to this practice, we just need to be persistent in getting the care we need if we are dealing with the nurse practitioners or physicians assistants.

Our X ray technician Rob was very knowledgeable and made sure my son got the best care while we were there. He made my son feel comfortable and made sure my son understood how to properly care for his arm in between seeing the UC and Ortho. Dr Smith was very thorough in her check up on my son. She went through a mental list of questions to make sure she had a full understanding of the injury. I am thankful for this UC and the care they provided. Thank you.

The suite we were going to is located on the third floor as well as the lab. When we entered, we received a friendly greeting by the front desk clerk and she checked us in. We were quickly brought into exam and after vitals and a few questions the provider joined us. The exam room was spacious, bright and clean. There were two chairs for my Mom and I to sit. The experience was very pleasant for my Mom. She liked all the staff very much. From my POV all staff was kind and very professional. Shout out to Dr. Kulai, Jona and Juan for providing excellent healthcare to my Mom.

How wonderful it is to have one of those transparent clipboards to block the speaking hole when they chat. Pharmacy technician is the worst. Can never reach the tech by phone. Called twice and left messages to resolve a simple issue but never got a return call. Had to go into their office TWICE just to speak to the teach. Never completed what he promised to do. Left 3 messages with the Administrator, Justin for a call back. Five days now, never got a callback. Who is managing this operation?

My initial experience with Sam, the nurse practitioner, and the physician assistant was very pleasant. They were warm, professional, and made me feel optimistic that I had found a family practice where I could establish long-term care. Unfortunately, my experience changed after my laboratory results became available. A receptionist named Britney called me and immediately began discussing my results without first asking whether I was in a private place or prepared to receive medical information. I was at work and had to interrupt her and ask her to wait while I moved somewhere private. I had assumed she was calling only to schedule a follow-up appointment. I believe staff members discussing medical information should always confirm that the patient is able to speak privately before sharing results. When I returned for my follow-up appointment, there also appeared to be some confusion at the front desk. Although I had confirmed my appointment the previous day, the doctor stated that he had not known I was coming and had taken another patient before me. He apologized, but the delay made me late for work. Once I was called back, the process felt rushed. I was quickly directed onto the scale and then placed in a room with a medical student. I was not asked whether I was comfortable having a student participate in my appointment. The student repeatedly described my hormonal status in a way that did not match what I had previously been told, and our discussion about vitamin D supplementation felt dismissive rather than collaborative. I was also uncomfortable with the student shifting and rocking from side to side in my peripheral vision while the doctor discussed some concerning health information. That made an already stressful conversation more difficult. Later, when the doctor returned and spoke with me privately, the interaction was much more comfortable. He was pleasant, made eye contact, explained things more clearly, and ultimately did a good job addressing my concerns. I wish the receptionist had demonstrated a better understanding of patient privacy, that I had been asked for consent before a medical student joined the appointment, and that the visit had not felt so rushed. Staffing problems, scheduling confusion, and the absence of a manager may explain why the office was having a difficult day, but patients should not have to absorb the consequences. Overall, the doctor handled the appointment well toward the end, and my first visit with the other clinical staff had been positive. I spent considerable time researching family-practice physicians because I hoped to establish ongoing care here. For that reason, I am willing to give the doctor and the office another chance before deciding whether this practice is the right fit for me.

It really got me so I felt compelled to leave my own review. I started seeing Dr. Koe when I was 32 years old (almost 30 years ago!!), and he did a thorough examination on me and based upon some wonky blood work, he "hound-dog, deep dived" into diagnosing me and got me referred out to a specialist to manage a severely, possibly fatal, disease that I had no knowledge that I had. I am disease free because of this man. Yes he referred me out. He is an INTERNIST, a family doctor. Not a specialist. If you need specialty care, he triages and sends you to the appropriate specialist. In order to do that, he has to share information with your health plan, or the other specialist. One of the referrals i read talks about him sharing information with insurance companies. Clearly they know NOTHING about how physicians contract with health plans, in order to get paid for services, and the information they are required by law to produce. It is mandatory, not subjective per patient whim. If you use your insurance to pay for services, doctors have a legal obligation to share that information with the healthplan. Expect that. Blaming Dr. Koe for industry standards that all physicians must comply with, is extremely naive and uninformed. My entire family sees doctor Koe. My husband, my daughters since they were little. They are now married, and they have even brought their spouses to him. I refer patients to him. My ex-husband LOL. Last year, I was diagnosed with what i thought was a benign tumor on my thyroid. I poo-pooed it, but at Dr. Koe's urging, follow up, and prompt referral to both an ENT and the specialized screening group, i was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Again, Dr. Koe saved my life. I had my thyroid removed and was lucky enough that it was caught early. Again, due to the wonderful caring and management of my health by Dr. Koe. Dr. Koe is a very kind, wonderful, laid back person, without a mean bone in his body, who would never discriminate against anyone. If for some reason he suspects you have not been forthcoming with him, or he believes you are fibbing or hiding something, he will definitely give you some straight talk and maybe he isn't as laid back as someone would like to believe. This is a smallish office, with a real family vibe. It is personalized care, and time spent with the patient. If you are looking for a family doctor who will manage your level one care, and triage to specialists, and be your ground zero care stop, this is your doctor. He is a genuinely caring person, who also happens to be a super great doctor.
