Korean Detroit style pizza in Lincoln Square mall. It cost $22 after tax for 4 slices of pepperoni (whole pie). There is plenty of seating in the food court. The pepperoni toppings were very generous, which I appreciated. The pizza was very heavy/filling, because this portion was more than enough for 2 people. The crust might have been a bit overdone. The pizza flavors seem interesting and tasty but not all the flavors were available when I visited. The Pepperoni pizza was sold out and some other flavors like Corn Cheese were unavailable. There aren't that many flavors to begin with so I found this to be disappointing. If they do rotate flavors, I couldn't find any schedule of what's offered on each day. The pizzas were good but I'm not sure if it was worth the price paid. Spicy Pork tastes better than the Kimchi Bulgogi in my opinion. Located in the Lincoln Square South 2nd floor food court area. I've walked by this place since it opened and finally got the chance to try it out. I have to say... it was just okay. The menu sounds amazing but I think they may have just had an off day on execution? You can order individual slices or a whole pizza that includes 4 slices. Of course the better deal is to order the whole pizza which is individual sized. Since its somewhat thick crust, it does fill you up though. First miss was they didn't have the bulgogi kimchi pizza that sounded amazing. The worker there said that they just didn't prep the materials. Well okay, I guess I'll have to try that another time. Second miss was their crust. I could tell that it should be crispy and felt like it should be amazing, but it ended up just hard. It wasn't piping hot either which makes me think it was just sitting there for a while and they popped it in the oven to heat it up which likely added to the hard chewy crust. The win was their sauce. Wow! I could literally drink that stuff! My 1 slice came with 2 containers and I was dipping, drizzling, and yes, drinking that sauce. It's a tomato based sauce but has a slight kick to it which was added amazing flavor to everything. More of that please! The only pizza options I had was Spicy pork, pepperoni, and cheese. So I opted for the spicy pork. It was just okay. Pork wasn't very spicy and there were some inedible bits. It looked fantastic and the flavors seemed to gel well, but I didn't really get much spicy pork flavor. I feel like it could've been any meat really. Maybe 'spicy meat' would have been a better name. Overall, I feel like this is an awesome concept and that if made fresh, would have been the difference maker. I'll likely come back to try their bulgogi kim chi flavor. I'm so glad the Lincoln Square Food Hall is making a comeback post-COVID and has some new eateries to check out, including KODE Pizza. KODE Pizza is a Korean-fusion, Detroit-style pizza that's pretty tasty and is worth checking out if you're around Lincoln Square. We visited KODE Pizza on a Friday night and the place was busy as it was one of the more popular places to eat at. You can see the staff making the pizza in the open kitchen and oven. At the counter, you can order and pay on the touchscreen. Since they have a variety of flavors, there is an option to mix and match, which is what I did and recommend if you want to try different kinds. For my mix and match, I ordered the bulgogi beef, the pepperoni, the supreme and the spicy pork. The food took about 15 minutes to get, and the pizza includes two sides of tomato sauce to top or dip your pizza in. Of the four I chose, I liked the spicy pork one the best. The pork was tender and had the sweet and spicy flavor that is just like what you'd get at a Korean spot. I liked the pepperoni one the least as the pepperoni was overcooked, so had more of a jerky texture and was hard to eat. The Korean corn cheese one was sold out when I visited, but heard it's worth trying if you see it! Overall, KODE Pizza is a solid spot for Detroit-style pizza with Korean toppings. I like that you can mix the different flavors if you get a whole pizza. But a whole pizza is one you'll want to share as it's hefty. It made for great leftovers as one pizza slice was a big portion. The crust has all the classic Detroit-style qualities: thick, airy, and with perfectly crispy edges. My favorites were the Bulgogi & Kimchi Pizza and the Spicy Pork (Daeji Bulgogi). The bulgogi was perfectly seasoned, and the kimchi--some of the best I've had, and I'm Korean!--was ideally fermented, not too raw or too aged. We wanted to try the sides but didn't see an option for them when ordering on the iPad so not sure if they ran out already that day. We were both full by the end. There were tons of seating since it's located in the dining hall of Lincoln square. Very convenient to the mall. My favorite was the bulgogi and kimchi. The bulgogi was tender and not too sweet. I was surprised how many pieces of pepperoni there were for the pepperoni slice. It was crispy, like a chip but it kept falling off. My mom and I saw a sign at Bellevue Square for Kode Pizza and was thought we'd try it out for lunch on Saturday. It's located in Lincoln Hall right across the mall on the second floor. They have a small menu but it's nice that they offer familiar flavors such as cheese, pepperoni, and supreme while also offering Korean inspired flavors such as corn cheese and bulgogi kimchi. We got two slices and it came out to around $15 with tax and tip which is pretty reasonable imo. The pizza came out fairly quick and was good but salty. The bulgogi kimchi was my favorite as the sweetness from the meat balanced out the saltiness a bit better but the supreme was a salt overload especially around the crust area. firstly- great location for a bite while visiting the offices upstairs. I've been in and out of this building a few times but only recently stopped by for a slice of their pepperoni pizza. I am happy to report the slice was better than most detroit style slices i've had. Well, I came back sooner than expected since they opened for their soft opening last week. I really wanted to try their spicy pork pizza and that's what drew me back sooner. The food hall was busier than the last time I was there, and there was a line for Kode as well. I waited about 13 minutes for my two slices of pizza: corn cheese (which I liked so much that I got it again) and spicy pork. This time, I also added a side order of gochujang sauce. With the busier environment, it was louder and somewhat hard to hear when your name was called, so it's best to stay nearby. It would be nice if they also assigned a number to the order, as I feel that numbers are more unique and easier to hear than names. Once my name was called for my order, I picked it up and opened my to-go box (which was in one of the flimsy wax lined boxes rather than sturdier pizza boxes) to check content. The pizzas were indented by the marinara sauce cups and seemed a little more burnt around the crust than last time. I noticed there were two sauce cups instead of three (even though I ordered the extra gochujang sauce). I asked one of the staff at the ordering kiosk about the extra gochujang sauce, and he asked the person who put the orders together. That person said the order normally comes with one sauce but gave me two. However, he never clarified if one of them was the gochujang sauce (which costs $2 a cup). Last time, I got a marinara sauce cup for each slice when I ordered two slices, so I'm not sure how he gave me extra if I ordered an extra cup of sauce for an additional charge. Unless, they only give out one sauce cup per order? I was already running over my lunch break due to the longer wait time, so I didn't want to pursue it further and left with my order. In terms of the taste of the pizza, the spicy pork was good, but unfortunately, the crust was a bit charred for my liking, leaving a slight burnt taste that detracted from the flavor of the spicy pork. It will probably be a while before I come back for more. Hopefully, after their soft opening and a few more rounds of high customer volumes, they'll be able to handle it more smoothly in the future. And hopefully, they'll also have new toppings or side items. I was hoping to give a higher rating, but the experience from this visit didn't seem to meet my expectations. **TL;DR:** I visited Kode's in the food hall after their soft opening and found it busier than before. I waited 13 minutes for two slices of pizza--corn cheese and spicy pork--and added extra gochujang sauce. The pizzas were slightly burnt and poorly packed, and I received fewer sauce cups than expected. While the spicy pork tasted good, the charred crust affected its flavor. I was very excited to see what the new options were going to be with the expansion of the food hall in Lincoln Square, so when I saw a Korean Detroit pizza spot as one of the new occupants, I had to stop by. I stopped by around 11:30 am on a Sunday during their soft opening. I ordered two slices, which were plenty for a meal for one person. I used their self-ordering kiosk to order a Supreme slice and a Kimchi Bulgogi slice. The square slices are sitting out for you to see the toppings on each, and then once you order, they heat them up in their oven for you, which takes less than 5 minutes. I first tried their Supreme, which had a great mix of sausage, red onion, peppers, olives, and mushrooms. The sausage is very well seasoned, and has great texture due to it not being overcooked. And I actually was pleasantly surprised about how prevalent the red onion's flavor came through. The Kimchi Bulgogi was next, and I was glad that they didn't skimp on the bulgogi itself, which was extremely tender. The flavor is that of a very standard bulgogi, and then you add in the slight spicy, acidic hit from the kimchi, and it results in a great pizza. I wish the bulgogi and kimchi were more evenly dispersed, as I had a lot of bulgogi on one part of my slice, then kimchi on the other part. Both slices came with a side of their marinara, which was a pleasant acidic sweet sauce to complement the heaviness of the pizza itself. Pricing is actually pretty reasonable. It was $5.50 per slice, and you can easily feed yourself with two slices, which gives you a pretty cheap meal compared to other options in the area. Being in Lincoln Square's food hall, there's ample parking options, including at Lincoln Square itself or the mall parking lot and garage across Bellevue Way. There's tons of seating as well, so it's great if you need a quick, easy, and affordable bite by yourself or with a group. Cheese: salty. Supreme: wasn't bad but not my cup of tea. Seems like the ingredients they use and source are pretty good. I think they tried really hard with the type of cheese they used and overdid it. So unfortunate bc the location is so convenient. Service was slow but understandable since it's a soft open. Plenty of places to find seating. If you like salt, come to this place... or maybe this is why they're connected to the seltzer joint, to get more folks to drink something?
