I went to a return two items at the front register. Line was 20 deep, about 15-20 minutes. I get to the front of the line. Lady says returns are only upstairs in customer service. WTF? I saw someone yesterday doing an even exchange. I've waited this long for nothing? You can't do a thing!?! Maybe I should've asked someone before standing in line, but still... Hard to find associates here when you need help, and the items I returned were sub-par (including an alarm clock radio with a broken radio tuner). I can't stand going here. The last time I was here, I used a $10 off coupon to pick up a Laker championship tee, so unfortunately, it's been awhile. There's two stories - first one has men's and women's attire, jewelry and some other stuff. Second has kitchen, shoes and home decor. I've found it to be pretty clean and well organized. Big plus in my book. I wouldn't come unless there's a sale or I need some desperately (which I rarely do) - the prices are astronomical. Customer service is decent. I must say, after doing some last minute Christmas shopping at kohls my experience was great, even considering the timing. Albert was helping me in the jewelry section and his spirit and attitude were amazing. While he was helping me, there were other customers asking him questions and keep in mind, it was the same question over and over. Kohl's - Department Stores Near Me - ALHAMBRA, California

It's the closet Kohls to me, so I don't have much of a choice. It's usually packed, and half the stuff packaged up seems to be opened and left on the shelf. Because of that, you can rarely find what you're looking for, or you have to settle for an already opened box/bag which I really, really hate. And it seems like every time I go in there, the shelves are half full...do they ever restock? And there are like 20 registers but rarely more than 3-4 people working them, yet the line is usually around the corner and to the back of the store. read more

My second time coming to this kohls location on a Sunday night and the cashier named Amy was the rudest worker I ever encountered. I wanted to use my three coupons with my friend and she said "only one coupon per person". I asked "can I do three separate transactions?" And she gave me this annoyed look as if she wanted to speed things up and get rid of me and said "you are one person she is one person. Only one coupon per person" with the nastiest attitude. Ok fine, I used one coupon per person as she stated. The receipt came out weird because we had a 5$ off coupon and a 30% off discount when using kohls credit card, the total on the receipt wasn't adding up. So I asked what the total was for my item. She looked so frustrated and didn't look like she wanted to help me. She explained the numbers to me super quick and I was still a little confused. I repeated what she said to me to make sure everything is clear and she said "I can do the transaction all over again if it makes you feel better". Well that's not what I asked..I just wanted to make sure I understood the numbers on the receipt. She looked super annoyed of me and was frustrated with my question. I eventually figured it out on my own no thanks to her.. She made my shopping experience at kolhs a negative one. I will definitely shop at another location to avoid her. I was pretty shocked to see Kohl's to be packed at this location when I arrived. Most of the ones I have been too are never that packed. I guess it's the season. I went about a month ago too. Anyway, I spent a long time searching for something to buy in this store. I didn't see much that I liked. I ended up buying a flask w/ a cool slogan on it. I'm gonna use it as an Xmas gift so my guy friend better like it. Besides buying gifts, I went to the ladies sections to see what kind of clothes they have. Their clothing line was hideous. I walked through twice hoping to find something. I found nothing. Then I made my way to the kitchen appliances. I had originally come here for an ice cream maker. I couldn't find any. I walked through the aisles at least 3x and still found nothing. What a bummer. Later on, I ended up buying it from their website, which was less of an inconvenience. I got to use my ebates rewards as well as some online coupons so I got a better discount. Thanks! Finally, I was done shopping and headed to the cashier. I was never asked for my Kohls rewards and totally forgot about it. So lame. I forgot to mention, the most annoying thing about a place is no signs posted of the cost of an item. There were many items that I was interested in buying without a price listed. Did they expect their customers to just buy the appliance or to walk every item to the scanner to check the prices? It's been 8 whole years since I've written a review for this spot and my writing style and "reviewing" judgments have evolved over the years so I think this place deserves to be re-reviewed. First of all, I like this location because 1) the prices are always pretty decent, 2) on most days, they have some kind of daily coupon code that you can use the same day, if you have a smartphone and connect to their Wifi and access their website that the cashiers can scan or type right from your phone on their registers, and 3) the store itself is generally pretty organized. Plus, if you have their Kohl's Charge Card, you automatically get a certain percentage off each purchase without waiting on their snail mail or if you, by chance, happened to have forgotten to bring those coupons that they send to you by snail mail like I do on occasions. Sure, on occasions, I've come here and have noticed that the men's shirt section and pants section (both the jeans and khaki's) can be a bit untidy but so far to date, I've been satisfied with how organized this store is on an overall level, despite the fact that they appear to operate on a skeleton crew most Saturday mornings. Things to note: the Croft & Barrow brand quality can vary. It largely depends on where it's made. So far to date, I've seen shirt tags and pants tags that say "Made in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Singapore, China, Pakistan" and a handful of other countries whose names I can't pronounce but I do know that they are Middle Eastern countries. Now, I can only speak for myself, but I've found that the shirts and pants made in those Middle Eastern countries have tended to be of better quality and construction than the Asian countries. Why that's the case? I don't know. But occasionally, the shirts and pants made in Asian countries have been of better quality and construction too but not nearly as often. Again, why that's the case? i don't know. Maybe they switched suppliers. Maybe they switched factories. Maybe it's both. Any number of factors could have gone into it but I judge the clothing's quality by the "feel" of it in my hands. Is it lightweight? Is it heavy? Does it feel flimsy? Does it feel solid? Does it feel like if you just tugged hard on it, that it will rip? Here's another tip: If you plan on buying clothing here and they release a new line of clothing every season, wait until the season is over, then look in their discounted sections scattered throughout the store and find them. That's how you get the most bang for your buck. But beware! There are lots of older Asian moms and grandma's hawking the discounted section so get there early before they do because they'll likely take all the good stuff. However, if you dislike hunting for your clothes in the discounted section and just want to buy their regular, non-sales items, I would suggest waiting on their snail mail coupons, planning your shopping days out, and get the Kohl's Charge Card before coming here to buy your clothes. Otherwise, if you just came here without any of those things, the prices can often times be more than what JCPenney or other clothing retailers might charge for the equivalent item, and especially so for the name brand clothes: Haggar, Chapman, Levi's, etc. For the "store brand" clothes like Apt 9 or Croft & Barrow, you might be able to get away with a slightly cheaper price but it's much better if you have their coupons ready so you can save the most money with them on hand along with your Kohl's Charge Card. They are stackable. You can use your Kohl's Charge Card and any ONE coupon code of your choice. Sadly, but understandably, they won't let you stack multiple coupon codes. Final thing to note: Use. Their. Kiosks. Do not be afraid of their kiosks. I love their kiosks! Every time I go to this location, I run up to the second floor near the shoes section just to use their kiosks to see what other items that they may have on sale that I may have forgotten to check beforehand. I've used it to order stuff to be delivered to the store. It's a fairly straight forward, touch screen sort of interface. Just like using your smartphone, but with a much larger screen. Now, when it comes to picking up your items at their customer service desk, like the other Yelpers have mentioned already, that can be a pain. There's always a long line and for whatever reason, they are the only department that seem so utterly disorganized. So if that's a deal breaker, just pay for shipping to have it shipped to your home instead. All in all, I like this Kohl's store. But some Kohl's store will carry items that this location won't and some will have sales that are different than this store so be sure to "shop around." Now me personally? I like this store location and I like the one in the city of Walnut, right by Grand and Valley Blvd where there's a Bevmo, an In N Out, and other retailers on the same retail plaza. read more

No, I don't want to sign up for your rewards card or credit card with you, for reasons that how is it possibly that I check in over the weekend on Yelp in your store and got my 15% off advertised your business on Yelp which is valid in store between Aug 1-31(2014) in California. But now I just went in your store (4 days later) and purchased some more because 15% off on Yelp was what draw me back, but this time your male cashier won't ring it up for me without a barcode?? What the heck? I was not asked that last Fri. What is the big deal? And yes, two different cell #'s was used on two different days.... honestly only a great place to shop when they send you those free $10 gift cards in the mail and stacked along with a 20% coupon they send you in the email lol because i always manage to get something for free, if not, then a few bucks. oh and also when they had the tax relief days last week. it was loaded with people lol. other than that, prices arent really the cheapest unless it is on sale. sometimes, if you look hard enough, you may find some items cheap items on clearance though. also, it is best to scan to check the prices to make sure regardless of the price the sticker shows! sometimes they may have an additional % off, making the item cheaper than listed on the sticker. the store is pretty well organized..well except for the clearance areas lol. really messy. i think the messiest i have seen were the flip flop area and the shoes upstairs lol. customer service is alright. ive never had a problem with them. i will continue shopping here as long as i get those gift cards lol! read more

I love love love this Kohl's. My husband & I were shopping for our first new home last year and looked from Tujunga to Altadena to San Pedro to El Sereno... The proximity of this Kohl's to the El Sereno house was an actual factor in our choosing that one as our new home!! I grew up on Long Island, NY, where the Kohl's replaced Caldor in 1999.... Part of Kohl's being factored-in was definitely a) Nostalgia: being reminded of "home," b) Pragmatic: the convenience of having housewares, linens, work clothes, towels, socks... everything right down the road, offered at an amazing discount! c) Our upcoming wedding: the availability of one of our "wedding registries" close to home. With the exception of one shopping trip in particular, I have not been disappointed! (I am not going to dock a star for that trip because it was so our of the ordinary from what I have come to expect at this & all Kohl's throughout my life.) I have been shopping at Kohl's continuously for nearly 15 years and have never been disappointed. Yes, I do end up spending a lot of money here... but I always feel I get a lot FOR my money. Love the hassle-free returns; I do not always do things in the most timely manner, and with the wedding, it is nice to know we will have a place to exchange any duplicates or no-longer-needed wedding gifts for potential upcoming needs. DENISE, who usually works in customer service, is friendly, accommodating, & amazing at her job - She never ceases to educate me on the best way to shop! A while ago, she suggested it's better to do even-exchanges vs. returns, so that I do not lose the Kohl's bucks I'd proudly accumulated (since I am going to purchase something else anyhow!) Don't get me wrong, I still recommend brining in your receipt or Kohl's card so they can find your transaction.. and ensure to find an item of equal value on the website before coming into the store so you enter prepared. One other nice thing worth mentioning at THIS particular location: I have found many items listed on the website as "Online Only" (In particular the marvelous Cuddle Duds line!) here in store, which is awesome! I love to see them stocking such great brands. This had always made the shopping experience at Kohl's very enjoyable for me, as I despise dressing rooms!! So I just try it on at home! Also worth mentioning as other stand-out employees are: the super-sweet and kind assistant manager DELMY, ALEX who is often in the shoe department, who has helped me find AMAZING deals and is incredibly friendly, MELINDA in jewelry has always been very friendly & OMAR, my favorite cashier who always goes out of his ways to suggest upcoming sales and other ways to save (he even informed me about Kohl'sCares - donations which helps children in need.) Last year, I was able to give back and left the store feeling super satisfied after purchasing 2 gifts that I knew would go to children who didn't have much that year. I hope many shoppers were able to take part in this program this year and gave back to the lesser-off in our community... I did donate online instead this year & have spread the word on NextDoor, a local neighborhood site and got much feedback from neighbors who said they would head in and do the same. ANOTHER TIP: Use your Kohl's bucks to purchase socks or other smaller items, so that you do not end up getting sucked into spending more than you'd hoped. (I always leave satisfied with some good socks!! ;) Lastly, I hope this store's management reads this as I would like very much to be contacted about a recent negative experience I had at this location. I do not want to post the details publicly, but I would like management to know what is going on with one particular employee. Just went in to do a return for some amazon stuff that I bought and let me tell you... The girl Leida (i think that was her name) made it so incredibly easy. Took all the stuff back, scanned my barcode and gave me a receipt for everything. It was great, then she gave me a coupon for 25% off so I thought great and went to buy some Nike sweats and pullover thinking how could I go wrong with 25% off. Well unfortunately the coupon didn't apply to name brand and I'm the type that will drop money on anyone else but will not drop that same kind of money for myself. The girl that rang me up told me it wouldn't work for what I chose but she was so nice and didn't make me feel like a broke ass when I said I would wait on my purchase then. My whole visit and Interaction with every employee I spoke to was so awesome that I had to come and write this review immediately. Kohl's is for suckers only. and is basically a rip-off. Their clothes are usually marked down by 30-50% but that's off the "regular price". Kohls plays the same game as other stores - they inflate the regular price to make you think you're really getting a bargain. Thus the sales price is actually the regular price. Problem is, they could never sell their clothes at the regular price because then they would be more expensive than Macy's. And Macy's has better brands and better styles. It's the oldest trick in the book and one of the reasons why I never shop there. Also - don't ever give them your e-mail. I made that mistake and I was getting one e-mail a day! This Kohl's is super trash when it comes to customer service and keeping the "profiling" on the low if you will. Literally my first and only time ever in the store for some last minute items to purchase for a halloween costume. It was fairly later in the evening so I was in a hoody, basketball shorts and a ball cap, my wife was dressed down too, and we were moving fairly quickly because we were on time constraints. I'm pretty aware of my surroundings so it was pretty easy to spot a associate (female, didn't see or care to ask her name) following us the entire time in the store. Few minutes go by of browsing and trying to find a few items (no help in sight mind you) and I grab a few things and head to the fitting room to try them on. I am trying on what I grabbed, see a shadow underneath the dressing room I was in but figured it was another customer waking by to a room. Long story less long I finish up, walk out and the same female employee that had been following us in the store i caught trying to peek into my dressing room, wtf? Walked out and she didn't say I word, not a single "how'd things fit", "did you need any assistance", nothing. Needless to say i laughed upon stumbling across her trying to sneak a peek, walked to the line and PURCHASED the things I needed. I normally wouldn't have even bothered getting the things after my experience but I was in a time crunch and no other store was open. I also normally hate low reviews based on customer service but this was definitely an exception as i felt a bit uncomfortable in this situation but hey it is what it is. Do not compare Kohl's to Mervyn's. Kohl's has Vera Wang and Ralph Lauren, and other "designer" labels. Daisy Fuentes, anyone??? Kohl's wins by designer default. Plus they haven't gone bankrupt yet, so they must be doing something right. Actually, i like Kohl's. The stores are pretty much self service and there is a central checkout station. No commission driven salespeople oohing and aahing over you in hopes of getting 10%. If you are a lone shopper and hate the pushy atmosphere of some of the "those" boutiques, try Kohl's. Do not know why Customer Service is upstairs, but my friend says it keeps those who try to commit return fraud from scamming them. You have to go deep into the bowels of the store without a chance of escape, plus the Security office is right next to the return counter. Interesting??? read more
