Kohls reminds me of a Mervyns that hadn't quite found it's purpose. I loved going to that store because it was cheaper, but they had clear sections and I could find what I wanted. This one was at the edge of a mall and I came in here and found some sweaters for back to school. I eventually returned them because I found something better elsewhere. But, they are not too far from my job so this is an alternative to going all of the way to Alameda. It's fine, cute, kind of newish looking, and they had what I needed. It took way to long to find a dressing room and they only had one. Not the best, but it worked. I'd never try pants on there because I wouldn't want my sock to touch the floor. The biggest surprise was seeing all of the pallets that were stacked up against what used to be the entrance to the mall. I imagine that is to detour those who are so committed to breaking into something that they would need such a barrier. I'm tall so I got a kick at looking over the top and getting a glimpse into what used to be a great mall back in the day. One I didn't go to because... They have everything from casual attire to sportswear to suit attire here. And sometimes the checkout line is long, but it usually goes pretty fast. This is also a good place to pick up Christmas gifts during the holiday season for just about anyone. I've done that a few times myself. This store has been here for many years & was the first store I did Black Friday shopping at years ago. It was also the last time I tried shopping for deals. They are moderately priced, but I haven't found anything to purchase for myself in years. I generally do returns for Amazon here when needed. There is a middle aged/older guy during the weekday that works returns and he's very unfriendly. I actually stopped going during the weekdays because of him. Some people shouldn't be in customer service & he's one. All other employees are kind and I've never had an issue. There's rarely a line, but if there happens to be one, the wait is not long. They eliminate the hassle of returns by just scanning the return QR code, no packaging needed. After spending $186.45, I'm wondering how that happened. I went to Kohl's for two reasons: to find my mother and make a payment on my account. I didn't plan on shopping, but the peaceful atmosphere and friendly cashiers led me to spend money. The store was clean and well-lit, and customer service was excellent. I suggest giving them a try. I have mainly bought toys and kids clothes here after I get a coupon when I return something from Amazon. I bring my kids here to run around. It's usually pretty slow here and they like the escalators inside. They have vehicle pick up and assigned spots for it. However, some folks use those as regular parking spots. It's def not as busy as the Target here but this place has good deals from time to time. Honestly, I come here so the kids can run around safely haha. It's always nice and clean as others have said. I hope it doesn't close down but I feel like it's inevitable. I don't see much business here and all the stores here at Bayfair mall are slowly shutting down. I hadn't been in a Kohl's for several years, and I decided to look for carry-on luggage. I was in luck--they were having a huge sale with reductions of 50% and 60%. I looked on my Consumer Report app to see ratings of the luggage they were carrying. I found a cute fushia colored carry-on by Samsonite with excellent ratings. List price:$259.99 (really?) with 60% off for $103.99. When I went to check-they found that I had let my credit line with Kohl's go years ago....so, for signing up again, I would get another 35% off on most items. So, I ended up get that cute little carry-on for $67.69 + tax. Hubba Bubba!!! I also got my first pair of Van shoes. They usually go for $69.99, and their discounted price was $64.99. With my 35% off it came to $42.24. I was told I could get 35% off the rest of the day. After going out to my car and putting on my new leopard print Van shoes, I started thinking maybe I should go back in and see if there was anything else I "needed"? There was $1,000 limit to my total purchases for the day with an extra 35% off. I did find a pair of leopard shades, a sun hat, and kitchen gadget that were already discounted, and I got an additional 35% off. Yeah, team! The only thing is you have to use their credit card. Review is for an online pickup at this store. I made an online purchase, but since the item was not available at my Alameda store, I opted for the next closest store for pickup. Located at the Bayfair Shopping Center, parking was easy in the lot. Entering the store, I was looking for a sign for the customer service/online pick-up area, but there was none to be found. Fortunately, an associate was walking by and I asked where the online pickup was located. She directed me up the escalator and to then head left to the corner. After a short wait at the counter, I showed the associate my pickup email and ID and she retrieved my order and I was on my way. Ok my main reason for visiting this location is for my Amazon returns. Super easy process. The Amazon station is now located in the men's section. You also receive a 5$ kohls cash to spend on anything in the store with your returns confirmation. First of all, they must have new management.... the store is super organized!! All the areas have their clothes nicely folded. It's way spacious and less cluttered. I appreciate cleanliness of the store as well. This review is for my first visit and experience today (11/21/20) since they re-opened. Had bought some items in March that needed to be returned but Kohl's stores were closed and not accepting returns...understood. Also, placed an order online for store pickup which was super convenient. Went straight to customer service and was told that a refund could not be done and only and exchange for the amount due to time limit. A little annoyed but "Cece" was super helpful, advised of their covid policy and provided options....so off I went to find something to exchange for my returned item...by the time I returned to Customer Service it was about 6 customer deep (ugh!) and only 1 person at the counter...fortunately, Cece was super efficient, got that line moving quick while keeping it friendly and professional ! I wouldn't usually write a review for this place but Kohl's and staff made it an amazing shopping experience while keeping it safe: * Floor clearly marked for social distancing * Counter disinfected and wiped down after each customer * Staff wearing masks, plexi at all the checkout * STAFF was wonderful! Cece in Customer Service is like that commercial "she treats you the way you want to be treated...old school customer service...and the person who checked me out was super friendly, efficient and ensured I got the better percentage off since I had a Kohl's card. The only thing I don't like about the Kohl's cash is they can only be redeemed during a certain week. On your Kohl's cash it'll have redemption dates! But that's really not that big of a deal. The shirt was returned - but no one to ask about the sizing... So, I ordered it again thinking it was just a one time tag marking mistake. Nope - the second shirt I received was the same! I ordered a 2XL and received a 4XL! The shirt was to be a Christmas gift - well, that didn't happen as the shirt received twice - was the wrong size! So, who do you ask about this issue? I talked to the shirt manufacturer customer care via email and the response is, "In the pictures you provided it looks that the retailer put the incorrect size sticker on the item." We've been returning Amazon products here at Kohl's San Leandro and they would always give you a $10 off (per one transaction) plus 35% off (if you open a card with them) and lastly a 20% off if you use the previous 35% off. So after so many returns, we finally used the validated discount (only the $10) that was given to us. Husband and I decided to pay separately since the $10 off is only per one purchase/transaction. When we were about to pay they suddenly said oh you can't use the $10 off for toys. So of course we've got somehow no choice since we are there on the spot already we decided to pay them. My concern is.. It's false advertisement and they should've printed that TOYS NOT INCLUDED on that discount paper. We wouldn't even know if its real or not about that rule so yup! The elevator was not working and so an employee called the manager to see what he can do.. the manager seemed like he didn't care to help me, I had a stroller, two toddlers and a baby. Basically his reaction was like sorry you'll have to wait for the elevator to be fixed but I had already waited about 18 minutes and I had to leave to pick up my son from school. I told the manger this but he seemed to not care. Before the manager had arrived there was an employee who offered his help and was willing to help me down the escalator, The manager however seemed like he didn't care, nor did he apologize to me for the elevator not working. I am a nice person, I'm the one who told him sorry for the inconvenience, he didn't apologize to me, basically I felt I was the inconvenience to him since I had him help me down the escalator. This Kohl's Department Store is bigger (2 levels) than the one in Alameda, and the selection of merchandise is better. Two things that both Kohl's have in common - long lines and not enough employees to assist customers. My husband and I were looking for a certain item in the homes department; namely, a Saunder HomePlus Wardrobe. I was trying to find an employee to answer a quick question whether or not they have it in the store. As we were leaving, I did see a helpful employee who answered my inquiry. Apparently, Kohl's does not carry home furnishings on site. That type of merchandise has to be ordered online through Kohls.com. There were a few nice sales items (Elle's colorful tops, Chaps purses/shoulder bags, men and women colognes). The only drawback: the lines to the cashier were long, I did not want to wait and I did not have time to buy anything. I guess it wasn't meant to be to spend money on an impulse basis...lol. I left empty-handed, but my wallet still had M-O-N-E-Y, cashola, $crilla$, greenbacks - whatever you want to call it. If I go for clothing I usually shop Macys and drive to Stoneridge mall for different clothing brands. To me dicks sports has better clothing selection than Kohl's does. I only stopped by because this was the only store open during 7pm on Sunday and not a lot of people around, also,it was hard to find an associate than can help me. The experience took longer than expected. There was only one associate at the customer service desk. It took a very long time just getting more help. The first girl that came to help retrieve my items from storage came back empty-handed. She couldn't find where the items were despite the distinct location described. I had to wait longer for a more capable associate to come back with my stuff. The entire experience took about 13 minutes or so. The store is always neat and organized. There tends to be enough staff during the non peak hours (at opening and at closing) but otherwise lines can be long. All it takes is really one needy customer and just two cashiers and one can be waiting over a half an hour to get out. I go here often for housewear items. Their women's clothing, while cute on the hanger, just never fits me well. I have found a few gems here and there amid the search but for the most part their clothing just looks either too baggy on me or there's not enough room for the bossum. However, for men's wear, they have awesome deals for my husband and the men in my family. Just know that Levis can never be used with a coupon, but other than that, most items are sale can be used with one. Today, I was hunting for new bath mats. Both Sonoma and Apt. 9 brands have great bath mats that have rubber backings to stay in place at reasonable prices. They were on sale today. I scored big in getting two sets, one for each of my bathrooms, for under 50. Considering how expensive mat has gotten over the years, I felt this was a bargain. At approximately 12:10p after getting off of work I decided to meet my mom at Kohl's at the Bayfair San Leandro location because we had seen a great deal on luggage I met my mom outside and walked in with her. We walked straight inside to the luggage department as that was our intended purchase. We stopped at nothing before. Upon looking at our intended purchase we realized it wasn't the best option for us as it was poorly made and one already had a hole in it, so we continued looking through different luggage to find our best options, this requires us to look through and inspect the luggage as we wanted to get the best for our money. During this time, my mother first noticed people walking by with walkie talkies blazing. She then noticed an employee come around the corner, stare and me, and ran away laughing; completely unprofessional. As a little time went on more and more employees started walking by, and around us and watching us. My mom started getting irritated as I tried to brush it off as I understand the retail side of things and thought something else was going down around us having nothing to do with us. So i tried to mind my own business. Then more and more people started walking and running around us again with walkie talkies blazing I started to realize it was because of us. We had about 4-5, maybe more employees stalking us and in a way I felt trying to intimidate us to leave. At that time I was irritated but I also knew I had done NOTHING wrong, I still tried to go about my business. As I seen my mother starting to get visibly upset as she said she felt like she was being attacked I just wanted to wrap up our purchase to get her out of there. Sure enough, they followed us downstairs to the checkout lane and proceeded to watch us check out. Two, in particular was a shorter African American female with glasses accompanied by a taller Hispanic female hair back in a bun. My mom was visibly uncomfortable and mad because she had never felt this before in her life and knowing we did nothing wrong but trying to make a purchase irritated us even more. The girl at checkout was actually very nice given the circumstances. I knew they were watching us so I preceded to help her open all luggage to insure them we were not the thieves they assumed we were. I even attempted to open an account handing over all my personal information if they so happened to think I was stealing I knew I had nothing to hide. Checkout was a success besides the glaring eyes all around us. We felt so uncomfortable and have never been treated as if we were in a place we weren't supposed to be. Why? All because we wanted to make a purchase like a normal customer? Or was it my uniform that they just suspected or judged? I saw 2 patriotic shirts I wanted which were 2 for $10 dollars but looking at how slow the line was moving made me think twice, put the shirts back down go elsewhere.
