While looking for late-night eats in SLC, Ramen Legend caught my eye. While some of the reviews were mixed, the photos looked promising. Since it was late, parking was a breeze. We parked in the lot by Barnes & Noble and walked over. The interior of the restaurant was super cute, and I loved the tall ceiling. There was plenty of seating and I liked the open kitchen. I've always enjoyed watching kitchen staff work their magic while preparing our dishes. We were greeted and seated promptly. I already had an idea of what I wanted to order, and so did my husband. We were here strictly for the ramen, but there are also rice bowls and sushi if ramen isn't your thing. I went with the mega pork ramen and added black garlic oil, while my husband went with the tan tan men. While we waited, we watched as several other parties also arrived for a late dinner. Even though there was only one server, she was quite efficient. It didn't take very long for our food to arrive, and we were eager to dig in. We asked for chili powder on the side, which our server was a little confused about, but finally understood and brought us some in a little dish. I was a little surprised they didn't have the powder at each table like at other ramen restaurants I've been to. I immediately noticed the layer of oil (not the black garlic oil, the red oil) on top of both of our ramen. It was thicker than I would have liked, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and mixed it in with the rest of the broth. The flavor of the broth was fine. It was decent if this was your first experience with ramen, but as someone who has had plenty of top tier ramen spots in the Bay Area and Sacramento, the broth wasn't memorable. Honestly, the layer of oil was also what threw the balance off. The noodles were bouncy and chewy, and the meat was tender. My favorite cut was the pulled pork chashu. The egg was yolky but not as seasoned as a proper ajitama should have been. My husband had similar remarks about his tan tan men, but at least we agreed that both of our bowls, while not spectacular, were consistent and cohesive as dishes. It was okay. We liked the flavor of the wings and fried dumplings. The spicy curry ramen was nice, the flavor was milder than I expected but decent. I really disliked the kimchi ramen. It was so sour that it almost tasted spoiled. I would not recommend the kimchi ramen. Being down here in Sugar House, it's so nice having Ramen Legend nearby -- it's walking distance for us and always hits the spot. We stopped in for a quick lunch today and, as usual, everything was perfect. I went with the wonton ramen and added pork -- rich, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. My other half had the Sunrise Roll with a side of miso soup, and we finished with hot jasmine tea. Service was friendly and fast, prices are super reasonable, and the food is consistently great every time we visit. We had been eyeing this place for a while and used our Wasatch Savings to go grab some lunch with our kids. All of the dumplings we had were amazing. I almost couldn't get a picture because we ate them so fast. The Ramen is out of this world, it is so large and my husband and I had no problem splitting it. The sheer amount of food options, people. I haven't seen such an extensive menu in a while! The bubble tea did take a while, but it was well worth the wait. They have honeydew and popping boba, my favorites. I got the curry ramen, and it was good. The noodles are homemade and certainly taste fresh, the broth is better spicy (I can't handle spice most days sadly) but the portions were very generous, with half of my table taking home leftovers! I really do not like giving low marks but this was one of the most awkward dining experiences ever. We walked in on a Thursday night at 630 to just a few tables filled so figured it would be quick dinner with our baby. We saved the qr code that took us to an app to place an order and pay. We started putting the items in and the server came over and repeated the items we ordered so I didn't send the order through the link. I wanted to add an order of edamame but my existing order was not even in there anymore so I just went and told her personally. She brought out our tea, edamame and agedashi tofu. There were a few other items she was about to place on our table but I told her we didn't order them. Later she comes back yelling at us in broken English that the tofu wasn't ours. After our apps were long gone I reminded her about the two ramen we ordered. She's comes to our table and starts slamming order tickets on our table stating that she does not see our order only the edamame was connected to our table. I go with her to the kiosk and again nothing. What doesn't make sense was she had read our order back earlier and knew to bring us the two hot teas we ordered but now all of a sudden the only thing on our ticket was the edamame. She tried talking to me in Chinese but I had to tell her I wasn't Chinese. So she then takes our order manually. I ordered the spicy curry ramen with kale noodles and my husband ordered the black garlic ramen. My ramen didn't come out with kale noodles and when I told her she said it was. I told her again it wasn't, so she started yelling at me that I should tell her before which I did! Needless to say we won't be returning. The only items that were good were the agadashi tofu and the edamame. The ramen was not spicy even though the name states that it's "spicy" the meat tasted off. I usually finish my entire bowl when I get ramen, but I couldn't even finish it this time. I understand they are short staffed during this time but when we left there were just 3 tables. Ramen was out quickly. I tried the shrimp wonton ramen and hubby had the killer vegan. I enjoyed the two shrimp but they get soggy fast in a bowl of vegetable broth. Came here for lunch with my family specifically for soup dumplings on a Friday! There was no one else in the restaurant besides us. We requested a booth, the host/waitress said she had to clean and wipe down the table. When ordering, we weren't seeing all of the options on our phone and she replied with "It shows on mine." Had to ask for chopsticks and such. As for the soup dumplings, you can clearly see which ones have actual soup and which ones don't. Waited about 15-20 minutes for them as well. I had to. On my Quest to find my favorite Tonkatsu. I ignored all reviews and just sat at the counter and jumped in! Service at the door was warm. We had a delicious meal from Ramen Legend! We went when the restaurant first opened several years ago and I didn't remember much of it. Having now gone back again, I remember why I love it! We tried several versions of the Ramen, along with the softshell crab bao buns. It was excellent. Each broth had an excellent depth of flavor. You can see the eggs are cooked perfectly, and properly marinated. The chashu was melt in the mouth. The other mix-ins, so to speak, are all well thought out and nice additions. Came here with my friend because I heard so much about the place. It is in the heart of sugar house. Very easy to find. If you do park in the garage, don't forget to get a parking pass. If you do, it will cost you. I usually park across the street at Whole Foods. Much easier and you don't need to care for a parking pass. Coming to ramen legend, I obviously needed to get ramen. So I ordered the spicy pork ramen. I did add on extra corn to mine. The ramen wasn't super impressive. It was good, but it would just be a regular bowl of ramen from anywhere. My egg was lacking flavor, and slightly more cooked than what I'm used to. The noodles themselves is my favorite because they have a chew to them. Great texture. Service was alright. It's funny watching someone who came in 15 mins after you, gets way better service than you do, and also get their food way quicker than you do...the reasoning behind it?
