The sashimi on the other hand is superb! But you only get 3 pieces per roll (you have to order a roll) and even then its not so satisfying; its like a teaser imo. The sushi rolls were huge and very overwhelming. Its not bad but its not good either. Absolutely amazing food!! It's an AYCE sushi restaurant for $24.99 the dinner menu. They had a wide selection of appetizers, rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and some desserts including Mochi ice cream. The fish was fresh and the food presentation was wonderful. I've been to a good amount of AYCE sushi restaurants in the Chicago area and this is hands down one of the best ones. The customer service was also one of the best I've ever had! As of right now, its a BYOB because they just opened last week so they're waiting on their liquor license. Because of this, my friend went back home real quick to grab a bottle of wine and the waitress brought us a bucket of ice for our wine the moment she walked back in through the door. This place is a hot mess but the food is so worth it. I'd highly recommend going before 6 or you'll be waiting for about an hour. Super small on the inside so not a ton of seating. I went here about a year ago and I felt it was on par with a lot of the AYCE sushi spots in Chicago. My only issue then was they added a lot of rice to their rolls and nigiri. Now the quality has taken a nose dive. The fish was cut so thin you could barely taste it. The rice tasted old and was still packed in. The inari was sour and we couldn't stomach a second bite. We were also missing parts of our order and even got items we didn't ask for. The server was apologetic but after eating half of our order we could barely finish the rest. Not because we were full but because we couldn't muster the will to swallow any more of it. The only nice part was that our order came with a fun dry ice moment. I would not go here again, sushi was okay for some reason it tasted really fishy (I know it's fish but it was not the best) I feel like the extra stuff is for show really to make the plates look pretty but I ordered the Mexican roll and the fish that was added was big chucks the cilantro was big too just the over all taste wasn't good. A lot of the rolls were kinda the same just like switched out by one ingredient or two. The service was okay too or server did forget twice about an order that was place I ended up canceling at the end just to leave because they took too long for one roll. I'm gonna go ahead and give this place five stars. The service is great- the staff is friendly and efficient and it doesn't take long for the food to come out. I like their set up- mixture of booths, private tables, bar stools. Food-wise, this place is great. I'm a huge salmon fan and their salmon is sooo good. It's so fresh and buttery. I've enjoyed all their appetizers from the mussels to the salads, the miso soup, the oysters, the seaweed. Everything is on point. The hand rolls and the regular rolls are also okay- I'm not the biggest fan of special rolls because they're a bit much for me in terms of too much ingredients and flavor stuffed into a roll. But they have a decent section and also the common rolls like alaskan, california, philadelphia roll etc. It's $25 for AYCE and it's worth it in my opinion. Oh and don't skip on the dessert. The aesthetic of this place was so cute! I went for my birthday and it was a nice setting. I got the all you can eat shrimp tempura roll which as always was so yummy. As well as the crab rangoons I recommend getting them. The only thing that I didn't really like was the sprite, it had no syrup in it which made it taste disgusting. I've come to Koi several times now and each time I receive great customer service. The staff is prompt to deliver the sushi and other food that I've selected, and in my opinion it always tastes great. As far as the restaurant itself, it looks fine and is clean, which to me is very important. The biggest draw to come here is the all the you can eat food. Around lunch time it's $23 and you're able to sample many different things off the menu. For the I ordered they brought out some type of fog releasing flower which was a nice presentation to go along with everything. Something to keep in mind is that they will charge you a fee for each piece of uneaten food -- extra important because you can very easily get a lot of food that you have no way of realistically eating. I will say that when I came in recently the meat that was in my rainbow roll was a little tough, however it was otherwise a good experience. Despite this, I recommend giving them a try if you're unsure of where to go for lunch. read more

The salmon nigiri was one of my favorites and I definitely left STUFFED. The service is where I would like for them to improve. They prepared the food pretty slow (a lot of times it would take over 20 mins to bring each round out) which made us more full just sitting there. I love Koi Sushi because it's one of the only places that I know of that offers sashimi here in Chicago. You can get 3 piece of sashimi per roll you order on one sheet. So if you order 2 rolls in the first round, you can get 6 pieces of sashimi. Make sure you do this each round because you can't combine them into one round later. Sashimi salad is an appetizer item that I like to get often as well. It's mixed fish cubes in a wasabi mayo dressing over iceberg lettuce. Pro tip: you don't have to finish the lettuce. I love anything with mango or spicy and there are plenty of signature rolls that offer those options. I'm not sure if they take reservations but would highly recommend you not coming in at 6:30 PM on Sunday for dinner because it was busy and there was quite a wait for a table even for 2 people. Came here last night with my boyfriend for the first time and had a great time. They were quite busy (which is a good sign for me on a Saturday night) and I can see why! They were able to get us sat rather quickly, the service was perfect for what we needed, and the food was delicious. They do close at 11 (on Saturday) and did last call for sushi around 10:30, so if you're planning to go later in the evening I'd recommend the latest you walk in be 9:30/10 to give yourself sufficient time to order and get your first round before they do last call. You don't want to be that person showing up (in any restaurant) half an hour before close expecting regular full service. All you can eat sushi is a fun experience, give yourself the time to enjoy it. Our server was great because he got our appetizers started while we took time to figure out what we wanted for the rest of our meal. He was also very helpful when we were deciding what Sake to drink. He was attentive and touched our table a good amount of times, even with such a busy restaurant.
