Great place for omakase for the fun vibe n fish! The staff n chef were all so nice n personable n actually talks to you instead of the traditional standoff attitudes. The portions of the fish n meals were huge so you actually feel so full at the end of it versus just a taste. A must try if you love omakase or never tried before !

We were looking at sushi spots in Chicago, and Sushi Q caught my eye! They offer a variety of sashimi, nigiri, and other dishes, and they also have a chef selection or omakase, which was one of the best for the value and taste we had here in the States. The omakase had many dishes and was definitely worth the price. An appetizer, miso soup, multiple sashimi pieces, 4 pieces of nigiri, a handroll, 4 pieces of maki, and MORE were included for around $100. The tea was also unlimited, and we had many refills. The server was also friendly and checked on us quite often. There was plently of space outside and inside. Overall, Sushi Q has a great omakase at an amazing price point, and the food was fresh and delicious. Definitely try out their omakase!

Food here is always great! Fresh fish and ingredients! Service is excellent, everyone is friendly. The place has bar seating and I think 5 or 6 tables. It's a great neighborhood sushi bar. Definitely a hidden gem if you're in the area. Be forewarned, they like to have ppl do Malort shots. It's Chicago, so why not!

Cute little neighborhood spot! Pricing is mid-range. Everyone was really friendly and service was attentive but not over-bearing. We ordered the special tuna nigiri, sake nigiri, salmon maki, negi toro caviar maki, shroom maki, and spicy scallop. The fish was so fresh and seasoned well. I didn't even want to dip it in soy sauce! The special tuna nigiri was our favorite. It melted in your mouth like butter. If I lived closer, would definitely be a go-to takeout spot!

What a lovely experience! I had the omakase, and if you are willing to be adventurous about your flavors, I highly recommend it. Every bite was different and fresh and interesting--so pretty, too! The fish was delicious and fresh, but what they did with each one was superb! The crew were so knowledgeable and friendly, and the whole meal was everything I wanted. (Also, I came hungry and was pleasantly full when I left--that can't be said of omakase everywhere in the city!) Pricewise it's midrange for omakase in Chicago, and I will definitely be coming back here in other seasons to try what is upcoming!

Went to Q Sushi Bar & Omakase during my trip to Chicago. It has been bookmarked and I have been dying to go since I started to research restaurants. I made a reservation when dinner service first started at 4:30. The staff was extremely friendly and the host and the server were actually the same person. I ordered the omakase, which is a chef special set starting at $99. $99 is on the lower end of omakases but their sushi tasted like it was on the higher end. Typically, the omakases I frequent are sushi or nigiri pieces only however, Q Sushi has a different approach on how they tackle omakase. They deploy various different styles of raw fish like rolls, sashimi, miso soup, salad, and more. They also keep their hot green tea on tap so it's is easy and quick to refill. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Q Sushi and hope to visit again!

We did a la carte and it's the best sushi I've had in Chicago. The toro hand roll sums it all up. Amazing spot.

Mushroom miso soup, some very garlicky mushrooms

We sat at the bar and did the omakase for $99 per person. Two people. We have eaten sushi everywhere from Kyubey in Tokyo and Nobu to sushi go round and spots throughout the US, and of course Costco. OVERALL: Not worth the money or trip, quite a few better places in Chicago at varying price points that we'd prefer. Food review dish by dish at the end. Service was good. Filled our waters and tea quite quickly. A bit awkward trying to peak into our bowls, but generally satisfactory service. They also made it seem like the mochi ice cream at the end was "on the house" when it was clearly in our omakase. Atmosphere was not what we expected. Rap music with curse words. Shots for the workers and bar folks. Not quite the atmosphere we expected, but that's just from our experiences, it was a bit off putting. Food wise, everything was adequate. It was a decent amount of food. The quality of the fish was okay but the fish wasn't made to be the star. The rest of the review focuses on the food in more detail. The biggest overall disappointment was that the fish really never got to shine through (other than being able to eat the sashimi on its own), but it could've definitely used a bit more plain or very subtly accented nigiris. All the dishes had quite a lot of sauces and add-ons. Aside from that, the devil is in the details. Some dishes were over salty such as the shrimp with hollandaise. Some dishes had unnecessary components (black cod with caviar, didn't need the caviar). The omakase was also not quite what you'd expect from omakase, all the nigiri (and all their sauces) were side by side touching. We had the following dishes (each with our one comment review): - snow crab with wakame and cucumber salad with a broth (great starting dish, nice a fresh) - sashimi (don't remember the type of fish, was good but not particularly memorable) - black cod nigiri (one piece on rice) with caviar, could not taste the caviar but the black cod was really tasty, just felt like a waste of caviar - mushroom miso soup - really rich for miso, really enjoyable, a couple mushrooms were really garlicky which we love but be wary of that if you're not a fan - sashimi aside a wasabi sauce and an uni shooter. Sashimi was a tuna, salmon, and hamachi belly. One of our hamachi belly had a bone which was very unacceptable and we've never experienced, but we didn't complain. Fish was pretty good. Wasabi sauce was really good though really took away from the fish. Would recommend having some with and without it. Uni shooter was too strong, we ate the uni out of it to try to enjoy it for what it is. - nigiri dish. Shouldn't have had all of them right next to each other with all these sauces. One fish with ao nori very similar to nori potato chips if you're familiar. One salmon belly with a mayonnaise dish which was good but really tasted like the seared mayo salmon from Kura sushi, kind of a shame since this fish is a lot better. Shrimp/prawn nigiri we were really excited for, shrimp sushi should be fresh and sweet, but unfortunately this was just salty due to the hollandaise and the shrimp was lost. Lastly, otoro (tuna belly) was good but the garlic pickle did not add, would rather it had been on its own with the nicely seasoned rice and served on its own. - tuna on tuna, spicy tuna roll topped with tuna, very good and as expected. Good amount of spice. - hand roll - pretty good, not the open coned shape hand roll we expected but still pretty good it had maguro tataki. - lastly mochi, sweet potato, peppermint chocolate, and black sesame; adequate

Q sushi is the best neighborhood spot! I went for my birthday and did the omakase. That was like 8-10 courses of the freshest, most flavorful cuts of sushi and sashimi. Service was fast and everyone was so nice. If you give a shot of Malort to the owners, they treat you like family. Sincerely had the best time

We tried their tasting menu. We had a generous amount of food and were so full after the last course. Their appetizer were really good, sushi was fresh and the flavor is good but not amazing, hence four stars. The ambiance is a little loud but joyful because their servers and sushi chefs were taking shots with their customers. They definitely create a friendly and fun and no pretentious place for people to come and have good sushi. We would definitely come back and just have their really rolls because they were really good.

Omakase was the following: 1. Toro tartare on tatami iwashi 2. Smoked hiramasa - Yuzu dressing 3. Hokkaido scallop -dashi fish stock, ponzu jelly 4. Marinated ikura salmon roll & marinated quail egg 5. Madai - Yuzu juice, lemon zest 6. Akami - ginger 7. Chutoro - smoked garlic 8. Otoro - seared, golden beluga caviar, chive 9. Hirame - shiso, plum puree 10. Tsumu buri - chive, house wasabi 11. Tachiuo - caramelized onion, chive 12. Aji - scallion, ginger 13. Pickled faroe salmon belly - sesame chili, honey truffle 14. Shima aji - Yuzu, peppers 15. Saba - toasted sesame 16. Japanese uni - special sauce 17. Anago - dark chocolate balsamic, banana cream Solid omakase menu for the most part. Fish was great quality and properly prepared. Good combination of flavors with the fish. Toro tartare on tatami iwashi was a great starter with great, interesting flavor. Only disappointment was scallops which was straight bland. Chocolate banana anago dessert was a funny last course that oddly works but may depend on the taster. In my opinion, they should incorporate at least one cooked dish. Conversation with the chefs was great. I like their effort to extend the number of courses.

4.5 stars but I rounded up to 5 as 4 is too low. We got the omakase. The staff were friendly and outgoing, so expect lots of joking around and conversations. The place was pretty empty for a Saturday night so it gets quite intimate. Only one other couple at the bar. The chefs will drink with you and offer you drinks, so expect that as well. Maybe don't drive here. I liked the food a lot; good variation of fish, rolls, apps. Pretty affordable too, all things considered. I wouldn't consider this a great spot if you are looking to celebrate something particularly special, as it's not very private. But for a normal night out, it's great.

First of all, the staff are kind, helpful, and perfectly attentive. Thank you for a great dinning experience. Plus, the ambiance of the new location is much more open and welcoming, while also being chic and classy! Finally, prices are so reasonable considering the fresh and high quality ingredients, and the quantify of food! We also love that it is BYOD with an affordable corkage fee. We brought our own Sauvignon Blanc and it was perfect with the sushi. 10/10 would recommend! We ended up getting 4 different sushi rolls and that was perfect! We walked away full and happy as two hungry men! We also were able to get four different types of fish in the sushi rolls, and that is important to us! Delectable flavors, reasonable prices, BYOD, and an elegant dining experience: Ora truly is a fabulous date night and we highly recommend. Star of the show was the volcano roll but the other dishes were far from slouches. Tamago, although simple, was a perfect prepared egg & the sweetness factor was a nice surprise. The elements of the sauce paired well with the fish combinations. I was very impressed with the quality of the fish, as well as the pairings that they had for the rolls. The rice was not stale, and it was very moist for you to work with. We also ordered the edamame, which was simple yet paired well and it was a good taste while being fresh.
