This was my first time visiting a rotary sushi restaurant. It has been a bucket-list item for me for a while and I finally made it out to STR Sushi Taku Rotary! I have been to the Sushi Taku restaurant on Division countless times. I went with friends and did all-you-can-eat. My favorite item we had was the salmon and yellowtail carpaccio which we ordered separately off of the menu. It was flavorful and tasted fresh. It can be a little hard to remember all of what I ate since our group was grabbing plates based on how it looked instead of just the name. The Philadelphia roll tasted great. There were 1-2 tempura rolls which were okay. The sauce used on the octopus balls was amazing! I wish I could put that sauce on everything! It was so savory with some umami flavor as well. The creme brulee was okay, I wouldn't try it again. I think it could have had more flavor and-/or sweetness. The mochi as always was great. The coconut ice cream was a surprise in how great it tasted!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Such a cool concept with the rotary sushi. We came at 4:30 when they opened & tried the $37 all you can eat. What a great value. You can place an order on the iPad or grab whatever you want as it goes by on the winding rotary conveyor. We tried so many items. My favorite was the dragon roll. The tofu skin was delicious too. We ordered the raspberry gelato, strawberry mochi, green tea cheesecake to share. I loved the desserts so much. That green tea cheesecake is a must get. The service is great, servers brought out food that you ordered or an adorable robot did. Cute, clean place with modern decor. The restrooms were individual & tiny. The hand dryer didn't work & there weren't any paper towels. But, everything else was awesome here.

Great ambiance. The staff was kind. Even better food. Prices are also good. I loved the salmon carpaccio, salmon avocado sushi along with dragon sushi. Ps- I also tried the green tea mochi which was yummier than mango

Average sushi- not the best but also not terrible. It was pretty packed for a Wednesday night. There was a huge piece of fish tissue(?) in the tuna that made it hard to chew, I had to spit it out.

We love this place! All you can eat and conveyor belt sushi makes a fun combo. The sushi comes around on the belt and you can easily grab off. In addition, they have an ipad at your table which you can order apps and sushi from. For apps, we like the shumai, crab rangoon and potstickers. They have so much on their menu, even ramen! They have many booths, good for groups of 2 to 4. There is a row of booths that fit 6 people. It is always pretty busy when we are there, arrived at 12 on a weekend right when it opened and it was almost full by the time that we left.

Incredible! We had a great time and great eats! There were 5 of us and we fit perfectly at one of the large booths. The aesthetic is modern hubbub. It's popular, and there was a line out the door when we left, but we got there early enough we were seated promptly. The all-you-can-eat deal worked great for us. The sushi rotary had all the classics, ensuring everyone was able to choose their favorites, plus we ordered a few things off the tablets. Our server explained the set up, delivered our drinks and generally stopped in to make sure we were happy. Our empty plates were cleared promptly, making room for delicious additions. Nest DePaul campus; We used public transit but otherwise street parking.

I was in the neighborhood for a weeknight yoga class and dropped in for a quick meal. I love the Sushi Taku in Logan Square, and I'm a big fan of conveyor-style sushi in general, so I came in with high hopes. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit for me. Dinner was $39, which felt higher than expected, especially since the menu seemed more or less the same as the regular Sushi Taku -- or if there were differences, they weren't noticeable enough to stand out. The quality was the same too, just coming around on a conveyor belt... but at a higher price point. For me, the value just wasn't there to go out of my way for this location. I'll stick to the classic Sushi Taku experience.

Never had a dining experience like this before and I walk away with mixed feelings. I like the concept of having all decisions at your fingertips (we dined A La Carte) through selecting and ordering food at will through the tablet on our table. I missed the human aspect a bit with wanting a waiter to check in on us and see if we needed other drinks / ask how the food was. It's great if you want to be locked into a conversation with someone, as just a robot will interrupt when food is delivered. Went here with a girlfriend for a casual dinner. Expect a wait! Wasn't bad at all, but I came on a Wednesday night and we waited for about 10 minutes for a table. I liked the options of either all you can eat OR a la carte. They have something for everyone to order outside of sushi. The rolls were very tasty but frustrating at times as a few of them fell apart.

STAY STRONG and ignore the distractions like truffle fries and ramen! They're designed to lure you away from the main mission: inhaling as much sushi as humanly possible. I was stunned to see carpaccio on the menu too. It was amazing! All of the ambience, service technology and breadth of options made this experiences totally worth it. Will definitely be back! -AD

    Nigiri by the piece

I'll say this right now... this is probably my favorite AYCE sushi spot! I already love the sushi taku chain, and I was so excited to try their rotary option. The food is fresh as always, and they have so many items to choose from. Our favorite is the fried fish and any of the seared sushi pieces! It makes me so happy that you could order nigiri by the piece; it makes it so much more worth it to try and gives you the opportunity to try everything. The service was pretty good for it being very packed. They brought out the food quick, and they always refilled our waters whenever they noticed. Additionally, they removed a lot of our empty plates whenever we were finished. The ambiance is beautiful there, and it feels like you're eating at fine dining with the decor and quality of food. The neon koi fish on the wall is to die for as well!

The food here is genuinely delicious, and I'd happily recommend it on taste alone. The wait to be seated was about 30 minutes, which felt reasonable. That said, two things brought my experience down. First, the waitress was unfriendly. She acted like serving us was an inconvenience. Not ideal, but something I could have overlooked on its own. The bigger issue was my to-go order. I got the Tuna Poke and a Dragon Roll. The paper bag was stapled shut, so I had no way to check what was inside. I placed it in my shopping bag and headed home, only to notice halfway there that something was dripping out. I was confused, because I knew nothing I'd ordered was liquid. When I pulled the bag out, I realized the leak was coming from my takeout. They had included a miso soup, apparently as a complimentary gift, but no one mentioned it to me, and it wasn't listed on the receipt attached to the bag. Because it wasn't sealed or flagged, the soup spilled everywhere. It stained my favorite bag and soaked my sunglasses, AirPods, and other belongings. A free soup is a nice gesture, but it's not okay to hand a customer a stapled bag with liquid inside and give no warning. A simple heads-up would have prevented all of this. I hope the staff starts letting customers know when there's something spillable in their order

Some of my favorite sushi pieces.

Literally my favorite AYCE sushi spot in Chicago. Sushi is really good, and the staff is always cheerful and helpful.

    Melissa B.

This was my first conveyor belt sushi experience, and it was fantastic! So many great options on the belt, plus more choices available through the table's digital pad. An all you can eat menu makes it easy to have your favorites while sampling a variety of other offerings. The interior offers roomy booths and creative overhead lighting, service is friendly and prompt, and the spacious interior makes it great for families.

The food came out quickly, and during our first visit they didn't miss a single item from our order. On our second visit, they forgot our mochi dessert and a few dishes took a little longer to arrive, but nothing that significantly impacted the experience. I also appreciate that dinner AYCE includes a limited amount of sashimi per person. The fish quality was surprisingly good, especially for an AYCE restaurant. Overall, the fish tasted fresh and the quality was better than what I've come to expect from most AYCE sushi spots. The restaurant itself is clean, and service is efficient. Orders are placed through an iPad, and whenever we needed assistance, servers came by quickly after we requested them. As for the food, I'd probably skip the ramen. It was one of the weaker items we tried. The fried dishes, however, were excellent and clearly made fresh to order. The soft shell crab was one of my favorites. The vegetable tempura was also good, though I think the pieces could be cut a bit smaller to make them easier to eat and share. Overall, this is one of the better AYCE sushi options in Chicago, especially when they're running promotions. Good fish quality, solid service, and a clean dining environment.

The place was close to our hotel which was even better after exploring Chicago. When we go here we checked in and were asked to stand on the side and we will be seated. It did take awhile to get seated where other folks who didn't have reservations were getting seated before us. A hostess went to our kids menu on the table and then we waited some more. Finally a male host came and sat us. I think that was like a 15/20 wait. Our waitress was friendly and hospitable. She was cool to talk to and attentive to our needs this evening. We got the crispy rice wagyu and those were delicious. We also got the yuzo ribeye and black cod and those were really good. The kids loved the ribeye!!! I tried to get the lollipops but they sold out but I heard they are a great hit too. The noise level was very loud. It was so loud due to a party next to us who had a large gathering and were drinking heavily. Other parties left and the other side of the restaurant was still full with other folks but none around this loud group. Anyways - food wise and the waitress service was great. My two friends and I ordered the Korean fried chicken baos, two rolls of sushi (Panda Roll and Sake to Me), and Pad Thai to share. The Korean fried chicken baos were my favorite dish. The crispy chicken was glazed in a sweet and flavorful sauce, and each bao was also stuffed with fresh veggies that provided additional crunch. My favorite sushi roll was the Panda Roll because it included shrimp tempura and was drizzled with a combo of sweet and spicy sauces. The Sake to Me roll was also good, but I could have used some soy sauce to mix with the wasabi for additional flavor. The pad Thai had solid flavor, and I appreciated how it did not skimp on the protein. While I thought it would be jarring to consume such a wide variety of cuisines in a single meal, it was actually fun to share and try a little bit of everything.
