Friendly and kind staff! The rolls came out quickly. The decorations are cute. We came for the weekday happy hour 4:30-6:30PM which included $4 off jumbo rolls, so we tried 3 jumbo rolls. Also tried 2 pieces of their limited fish for the day. We went before a night shift so couldn't try any drinks. I liked ThugLife2 the most, light, refreshing and good crunch from the jalapeño. Riverwalk was oily feeling with the tempura crunch, so not my favorite but if you like tempura, this is good. Sin nombre had interesting complex flavor but light with the yuzu marinade. The albacore was seared so slight firmer texture. The sashimi we got came with grated ginger and soy sauce and I didn't have to dip it at all. The ambiance was really nice with cool snippets of anime on the wall without being tacky. We got the tater tots, the dragon ball roll, and the chicago spring roll. The tater tots were hot and fresh dressed in a tograshi blend, truffle mayo, parmesan cheese and cilantro. I personally didn't love this combo of flavors too much, but my mom enjoyed them! The roll presentation was absolutely stunning. I was actually blown away by the sauces, which were customized by color but also flavor, so they actually were great to dip in. I was blown away by the hot sauce they used for the dragon breath, it had a real kick to it. Unfortunately i didn't like the eel quality tho, i think the roll would have been just fine without it and i found myself having to spit out some fatty piece to the eel that wasn't melting or going anywhere. The roll itself was way more filling than it looks too. The service was good! It got slower as the restaurant got busier but our water's stayed getting refilled which was good. I also absolutely love the bathroom! I was thrilled to see the extra thought they put into having feminine products AND mouthwash! That was the perfect touch and i wish more restaurants had it. Amazing service, sushi and drinks here at Yuzu! My daughter and S.I.L. are regulars here, and I understand why. It is definitely worth a visit, especially during Happy Hour weekdays. The tuna poke appetizer was fresh, generous enough for sharing, and had just the right amount of spice to it. They were generous with the diced avocado too. The chicken katsu Bento Box I ordered was a healthy portion and full of delicious, authentic flavors. I loved the unique cucumber salad with delicately scalloped edged, thin cucumber slices and crabmeat stick. The steamed rice was rolled into small cylinder shapes with black sesame seeds on top. I was impressed by the attention to these tiny details and warm greeting from servers that made this meal so memorable. I look forward to returning and trying some of their crafted cocktails too. Booked this spot to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday. Yuzu was a great dining experience and definitely one of the better meals I've had recently. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with attention to detail. I'd def prefer the bowls over the rolls. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out at a steady, comfortable pace. The staff was knowledgeable and happy to offer recommendations, which made the experience feel a bit more personal. The atmosphere was modern and inviting, making it a great spot for both a casual dinner and a slightly nicer night out. Only downfall is the surcharge for outside food like a cake to celebrate a birthday was even if we spent over $300 dining in. But something to keep in mind of especially when I'm dining with my toddler since not all items on the menu is kid friendly. I'll have to ask about kiddo next time to be prepared for next time. It was still pretty empty, but by the time my friends came at like 12:45pm the place was basically packed and this place opens at 12pm! I got the ume bowl and it blew me away! From the freshness of the sashimi on top to the rice underneath it was just near perfection! The rice was nicely seasoned and you can taste hints of yuzu or something citrus. Super refreshing and paired really well with the sashimi on top. The yellowtail, tuna, and salmon were so fatty good! I felt full after eating half of it. I cannot wait to come back here again for the ume bowl again. I forgot which roll my friend ordered, but it was really good. We started with miso soup which was good and then ordered the Back to Basic roll and I can't recommend it enough I loved it. We also ordered the Hokkaido Winter dish and it was perfect to split both these between 2 of us. The box is dine-in only and came with yuzu seasoned rice underneath scallops, snow crab, roe, toro, and caviar. It comes with seaweed sheets so we made our own mix and match bites and it was absolutely delicious. We also used the ponzu sauce that came with our roll to dip the fish from the box since we saw someone recommended that. Our waitress was super patient with us as there was so much to decide. If I could give 6/5 stars I would! This place is right up my alley of hip hop music vibes, city murals, delicious sushi, and intimate ambiance. My friend and I got seated at a table of 2 and it was crowded for a Friday dinner. We had the miso salmon, ume bowl, mori sashimi, and the Hokkaido winter. My friend and I ordered the lavender and lychee martini and they were insanely delicious and presented beautifully. The food was the freshest sashimi selection I've had in Chicago area. My favorite entree was the Hokkaido winter with the seafood arranged over their yuzu seasoning rice. We had tried the yuzu ponzu sauce on the side and it made the food taste even more delicious. The miso salmon as an appetizer was also insanely tasty and presented as a flower. The service was attentive and friendly, we never felt rushed at all. (But maybe the small cozy vibe is part of the appeal? I'm not sure.) Overcrowdedness aside, the space itself was clean and well-organized, which I appreciated. The crowd meant we had to wait about 20-30 minutes for a table, but honestly, that wasn't too bad for a Saturday night. The appetizers were good and the sushi was fresh, but the flavors were just not there for me. I enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away. It's just good sushi with some nice art pieces on the side (made with various colored condiments and sauces). It's clear that the sushi arts were designed more for social media than for eating. Just under 10 minutes from the United Center, this is a great option for grabbing dinner before a show or sporting event. Everything I had here was delicious! For starters, I had the takoyaki (octopus fritters). They were perfect! I didn't have the avocado mango salad, probably the best salad I have had in a long time. It was fresh and well-dressed and I couldn't stop going back to the salad! I also had the monster spider small roll. The cook on the soft shell crab was perfect! My friend ordered a jumbo roll and her board came decorated in sauce in the form of an octopus! It was brilliant! I'm not a drinker so I just opted for water, but the waiter kept coming back and making sure my water was filled. There is a nice buzz and the restaurant, but it is not too loud which I appreciate. Everyone here was so incredibly friendly and attentive! Some of the best service I've had in Chicago. The sushi was 10/10 and would eat the truffle oil tuna for every meal. The mango avocado salad was also super tasty. I will say the actual robata meats were not my favorite but this could be a personal thing. Very beautiful and creative sauce art when you order the jumbo rolls. I had the Dragon Ball and the Motown Effect. Taste-wise, it was pretty standard for American-style rolls (which is by no means bad, it's just a different style than traditional Japanese sushi rolls). My husband and I have been going to Yuzu since we lived in Chicago, and when we visit from NYC it's one of the few places we will still make a trip to the city to eat at because it's been consistently good. We used to go at dinner time when we lived there, and it would be busy and lively. Now when we go, it's usually at off hours after lunch, and it's a very chill vibe with still great service. We did notice that the portions have gotten smaller, especially the avocado mango salad, but I think this is the case in most places. The flavors are still amazing and we love the freshness and quality of the food. Our favorites are the salad, the miso soup (spicy and regular), edamame (spicy and regular), vegetarian sushi, and my husband loves their teriyaki chicken plate with a side of peanut sauce and chili sauce. Plus, they've got great cocktails and there are a bunch of fun shops nearby to stop in before or after your meal. Two of us got the lychee saketini's. They were so good! Love that they give you an actual lychee with it! The third person got a sapporo beer and it was just as good as expected! We all split three jumbo rolls for our meal. My favorite part about all of them was definitely the presentation and sauce, but they were also really great rolls without considering that! The roll on the top left was the river walk. I always love a roll with jalapeños and this did not disappoint! The middle roll was the love potion no.9. It was amazing!! I loved that it was topped with seared salmon and baked sweet mayo. Definitely a unique roll that I haven't had anywhere else! The roll on the right was the breaking bad. This was for sure my favorite. I loved the fried ginger and grilled asparagus!! My friend and I visited this restaurant to celebrate her birthday, right before a comedy show. We were late for our reservation but still didn't have to wait long to be seated. Once at our table we started with some drinks (I forgot which ones ) and plenty of appetizers. We love to eat and try everything so we ordered Hamachi Crudo, Asparagus Bacon skewer, Ribeye skewer, and Tuna Truffle oil sashimi. WOW! We were not disappointed at all! Everything was amazing especially the Tuna Truffle oil sashimi. For dinner we tried the Sea Smoke and the Don't Tell My Wife sushi rolls. Although we were looking forward to the beautiful artwork on our sushi platters, we didn't quite get it. Maybe because it was a busy night. Nonetheless, the sushi rolls were absolutely delicious. Ordered once on Ubereat, my experience was great based on the dishes I had. Everything came nicely packaged and warm. Negi Hamachi: unlike the other Negi hamachi I had previously, their roll size is large and the fish is greatly seasoned. Also, it is fresh and the rice portion is not too big (a huge plus). Salmon: the grilled salmon is great seasoned, you can definitely taste a hint of sourness of the yuzu. However, it is a bit overcooked, not juicy and tender. I don't really recommend this. Nasu: the grilled eggplant is awesome and worth a try! It has a light sour and sweet taste. It is perfectly grilled. Love this one. Ume Bowl: a very interesting bowl! It comes with a variety of fishes ( tuna, salmon, yellowtail, Zuke sake, scallop, and salmon roe). It is also a great option to try all the various types of fishes. This bowl is topped with a quail egg which made the fishes extra tender. The sushi rice is seasoned with yuzu! A very interesting and creative seasoning of rice. This is definitely not a bland dish, it is an interesting and special dish. Worth a try. Ama Ebi(forgot to take a picture): the raw shrimp is sweet, fresh, and tender. FYI, the frying head comes with sushi rice and mayo (ask to make any adjustments if you have any allergies). Overall, I think Yuzu is a great place to try out various kind of creative sushi and dishes. They do offer lots of creative rolls, but not too many nigiri options. I noticed that the dine in price or online ordering through their website is cheaper than third party platforms. Since I live a bit far from the restaurant, I can only order from third party sites. Therefore, the food is kind of pricey to me. Also, there are more food options if you choose to dine in or if you can order through their website! It would be great if Yuzu can make more accommodation for customers on third party platforms (allergy friendly, food accommodations, and more food options). read more

A friend recommended this place and I was a little hesitant because personally I am not a big sushi fan but I MUST say I absolutely loved this place. My sister and I tried lychee saketini and hot sake, which were perfect. We started with chicken dumplings called Gyoza, and I also had chicken satay from the robata section--both tasted good, but I wished there was more quantity for chicken satay. We tried the veg sushi rolls, La vie en rosa, green harbor and avacado & cucumber and I must say I absolutely loved all three sushi rolls. My personal favorite was La vie en rosa. The decorations on the Green Harbor roll were beautiful. Basically, this roll comes with a cute design made with sauces. The presentation is nice. The place has a rustic feel with wooden anime designs, and it's not too loud, so it's easy to chat with friends. The service is pretty quick. Make sure to book ahead because it gets busy at night. This is not an exaggeration, but Yuzu Sushi has become my all-time favourite sushi restaurant. Some of my favorites are their vegetarian sushi dishes: La Vie En Rose which is a sweet potato, avocado, cream cheese and aioli sushi and, avocado&cucumber sushi. It is outstanding and the flavors are really wonderful. The way they make sauce presentation on the plate is quite unique and very innovative. In this visit I also tried their chicken dumplings and chicken satay which was pretty good too but portions a bit too small for these dishes. We also ordered a bunch of cocktails and hot sake which was crisp and earthy in taste. The place has a chic, casual ambiance and a friendly staff. I highly recommend and I look forward to returning. Sat in the rear and menu's are on a QR code (which is actually harder to order since my phone is not large to see. I asked for a paper printed menu as it is limited. I ordered 3 rolls which averages to $20 a roll and the robata grill sampler ($22). Food came fairly quick and the entire meal was delicious. the grilled meats was prepared well and not overly overcooked. The rolls where loosely rolled but fresh. The part that surprised me was the 20% tips added to the bill and if you use credit card to pay, there was additional tip you can charge on top of the 20%. Come on Sunday as no meter payment is needed. read more
