First time having Kojaks, they catered our work holiday lunch at Sola. It was delicious!! The food arrived hot, the staff helped set up the catering and they provided utensils and plates. I'm glad we decided to support local and order catering from here. The food is delicious, catering also came with gravy as well. I will be back! Thank you so much for your hospitality and taking care of us!

Kojak's has been in the area since the 70s. They serve a mix of American and Mediterranean cuisine. I was first introduced to this place after I got hired from my company and got to eat lunch with the other managers and directors. It's nice cause now it's a tradition I do with our new hires after a day of orientation. I've tried a few dishes, but I gravitate toward their avocado BLT on french bread. The bread is nicely toasted and still soft inside. There's plenty of bacon and avocado. Their crinkle fries are good, but it's the seasoning they use that adds a nice touch. You can ask for extra seasoning on the side. Other people have ordered soups, the gyro plate, and something homey like meatloaf. One of my coworkers is vegetarian, so it's nice that they have a falafel sandwich and other options. Many people seem to go here for lunch in between their work day. There's enough tables and chairs and some booth seats. Sometimes they are out of a certain type of soda or the ice machine is broken, but they do keep a bucket of ice or let you pick a canned soda of what's out.

18th street bagel sandwich featuring a Brazos Bagel everything bagel and bacon

Being from the East Coast you get the need for a good bagel sometimes... today was one of those days. My friend and I ordered bagel sandwiches. I'm glad that Brazos bagel has set up shop in Kojak's. Kojak's offers sandwiches with everything from chicken to lox. (Wednesday through Sunday only). Overall the service was okay. Nothing special. The girl was more concerned with her slicing items than originally serving us. I was semi bummed that they only offered the everything or plain as choices for the sandwiches. The overall restaurant is fairly simple. They had live music even on a Sunday morning. Plenty of seating all around.

Just WOW! The freshly baked bagel by Brazos Bagels was the perfect base for the scrumptious vegetable sandwich. Can't remember the exact name of the plate but the sandwich had a delectable pesto sauce and cream cheese paired with fresh and crisp tomato, spinach, purple onion, and avocado. I will be back just for that! Went nicely with a glass of rosé. The sausage, egg, cheese, potato & biscuit gravy bowl was so delicious as well especially if you're craving a hearty southern style breakfast/brunch. The gyro sandwich was great and the fries on the side were seasoned well and crispy, exactly how you'd want fries to be. Casual down home vibes with a Heights flare and very reasonably priced!

The atmosphere is chill I came in around 4 and it wasn't to busy only 3 customers including me

This is a regular on our lunch rotation at work. Food is always fresh and delicious. We have never had a bad meal here in the 15+ years we have eaten here. Mark is always so kind and his staff always go above and beyond.

This is where you go to order your food.  They also do breakfast:  an omelette with feta, tomatoes, and/or spinach could be good.

What to do to fight cabin fever? Write a review or two on Yelp. When I visit a city I've never visited or have only visited a few times, such as H-town, I make sure to find the storied eateries, either chains or stand-alones, Italian food, Greek food, and possibly a type of cuisine the area is famous for, providing it's not spicy. As for filling the hatch with Greek food at a reasonable price, Kojak's fits the bill. It's called Kojak's Fine Foods because they appear to have items sitting on shelves the way they'd be displayed at an ethnic grocery store ... and they also cater. Neither of those two options were relevant to my needs as someone passing through town. However, their sit down cafe' was definitely relevant to me. I got myself a platter and sampled their gyro meat, hummus, and some stuffed grape leaves. It was all very good but I remember that the stuffed grape leaves really stood out. I could have eaten many more of them. At the end, I ate some baklava that was placed in a plastic clam shell. It was also good. They also have soft drinks and bottled drinks you can buy. For a quick meal during the lunch hour, you can go up to the counter and put your food on a tray. The prices were fair and, as others have said, the service was more perfunctory than friendly. I didn't care because it was obviously a busy time and they had to be efficient. I also liked the simple and open set-up of Kojak's eating area. You just help yourself to a four top, plant your food and your behind down, enjoy your meal, and take a respite from the L.A.-like hustle and bustle of H-town inside their air conditioned locale. Something about Kojak's struck me as funny. You are still inside the Inner Loop, although barely, but the area doesn't feel that much different than if it was on or near the Outer Loop. It's near a big freeway interchange on Houston's NW side. Once inside, there were a lot of suburban office park employees lunching and it was a little bit of a time warp, with some - not many - of the guys looking like they might have had a beeper and some of the gals sporting feathered hair! Regardless, the patrons seemed like a friendly, relaxed bunch. And, I couldn't finish a review without mentioning that Kojak's has free parking in front of their store in this strip mall where you might be jockeying for a space among people's trucks, muscle cars, and big SUVs down in the Republic of Texas.

The staff were very sweet and quick. The food was done quickly too. The decor was interesting and gave a diner feel. This is a very casual place and they serve family style. Good for groups and for those who want a soft introduction to fusion foods. We ordered their half wedge salad, cheeseburger fried rice, a dou milkshake but it was more of a drink, bamboo, martini, savory, scallion, waffles, and egg foo young. The wedge salad was interesting, it's like if you used eastern ingredients to re-create the same western dish. The cheeseburger fried rice was basically a deconstructed cheeseburger with rice instead of bread. The egg foo young reminds us of étouffée. Our favorite was, of course, the savory scallion waffle we really enjoyed it, but would like to have more scallions in it. The drinks were OK. I thought I ordered a milkshake, but it was more of an actual drink so that was a little confusing. The bamboo martini was interesting in a neutral way. Overall, the dishes tasted average, but the presentations were nice.

I wasn't that hungry because I had food yesterday I ordered a kids cheeseburger burger with fries, a kids meal chicken tender with fries, a farmhouse burger, and the half chicken with biscuits. I also had the his biscus lemonade. Needless to say--well actually, quite needing to say since this is a review after all--the food was pretty good. Prices were a little crazy but it's become all to normal in this day and age. As for the food, I ordered a kids cheeseburger burger with fries , a kids meal chicken tender.. don't feel like saying all this again. As for the food, the service was pretty good I guess. The girl servers were pretty smart. The boy servers were a little less smart. Every time the guys brought food, they either stood there looking around, or attempted to place the food on top of other plates or napkins that were on the tiny table. I suggest maybe a boot/concentration program for the guys so they can concentrate a lil more. Ok, it's time for me to go. I'm gonna go to sleep after all the food. I forgot to mention what I ordered. kids cheeseburger burger with fries, a kids meal chicken tender with fries, a farmhouse burger, and the half chicken with biscuits. I also had the his biscus lemonade. The half chicken was obviously what they tried the hardest in. There were 4 types of sauce with it. They were all pretty good, but I didn't eat the chicken. The chicken tasted incredible-- so much so that I finished it completely. But I don't like eating around bones, I find it primitive. I'm more of a chicken tender kinda guy if you know what I mean. Oh yeah and for the food, I had a his biscus lemonade. It was SO good. Alright. And that is the end of my review. I hope I did t forget to list my food items because I've gotten hate messages calling me weird. Anyway, I'm out chat. Thank you to my faithful followers. Millie's is a popular neighborhood seafood restaurant in Houston's Oak Forest area, known for Southern and coastal-inspired dishes, craft cocktails, and being genuinely family-friendly. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, including patios and a dedicated play area for kids, which already sets them apart. They have private parking spots out front and a large outdoor patio facing the street. We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away. They brought out a high-chair for our son immediately. Inside, the restaurant was busy, but it was a colder morning so the front patio wasn't being used much. They also have a separate backyard patio with a turfed, enclosed area where kids can safely play, which is a huge plus for families. We ordered from the brunch menu. [BRUNCH] +Lobster Roll for $38 - Maine lobster poached in butter, served in a brioche-style lobster bun with fries. My wife ordered this with fries, and I ordered the same dish with a Caesar salad. This lobster roll was excellent. They served the lobster folded into thick Texas toast and brought extra butter on the side. Easily one of the best lobster rolls I've had. It's definitely pricey, but absolutely worth it as an occasional splurge. The fries and salad were good, but the lobster roll completely stole the show. - 5/5 [KID'S MENU] +Basket of Fried Shrimp for $7 - Served with fries or fruit. My son didn't eat much of the shrimp, but I thought it was solid. He ate all the fruit. He had already eaten at home, so hunger may have been a factor. For the price, this was perfectly fine. - 4/5 Overall, Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails really impressed me. The lobster roll alone is worth returning for, and now that I've seen how seafood-forward the menu is, I'm excited to try more dishes on future visits. It is tiny and packed tight inside, but they do have patio seating as well. Parking is very limited, but you can find street parking nearby. Reservations are highly recommended but walk ins are welcome. We had a few people taking care of us that night and they were all great. I was between a few items and they were very helpful in steering me in the right direction. We started off with a few bottles of wine to get the night started. From what I understand, their wine list is one of the things they are known for. Your only other option for an adult beverage is limited options of canned or bottled beers. I didn't really have a say in the wine we shared, but what we had was delicious and paired nicely with the items we ordered. For starters, we went with the highly recommended bread service. Get this! This bread was so good. I doubt they make it as ordered, but it came out like it was fresh out of the oven. It was a nice crusty bread with a fluffy interior served on a cutting board with a huge smear of miso butter. We then went with the Crispy Cauliflower which was one of my favorite dishes of the night. It was smothered in a gochujang aioli and reminded me of a general tso chicken or something. Very good. Thai Chili Rubs was next and these were so good as well. I'm a sucker for all the Asian flavor profiles and this hit that. For my entree, I ended up with the Pork Chop w/ Chutney. This was a huge chop on a layer of apple sauce and a wonderful chutney that contrasted the sweet sauce. Every layer worked well together. I will say the pork chop was just slightly over cooked, in some parts. It also came with green beans which was cooked just right. No room for dessert as we had another party to head to. Overall, I'm glad my friends picked this spot for their birthday celebration. I am now in the know about this place and will consider coming back in the future.

D'Alba was one of my favorite dining experiences in Chattanooga…read more The outdoor seating area is thoughtfully designed for both humans and dogs. The patio is covered, lined with beautiful plants, and equipped with fans that help keep everything cool and comfortable. Even on warmer days, it feels like a relaxing place to settle in for a long meal. The food was fantastic from start to finish. We shared hummus as an appetizer, followed by grilled salmon, and somehow still found room for sorbet for dessert. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Most importantly, my humans ordered me my very own side of grilled chicken. As a professional food critic, I can confirm that it disappeared immediately. Another nice touch is the outdoor family area. There is a dedicated space for kids to play along with a large TV so parents can relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. It gives the restaurant a welcoming atmosphere without feeling chaotic. Between the excellent food, comfortable patio, and dog-friendly attitude, D'Alba is an easy recommendation for anyone dining with a pup. Dogba's verdict: Beautiful patio, outstanding food, my own grilled chicken entrée, and enough plants to make a tiny Italian Greyhound feel very sophisticated.

I wasn't in the mood for one of the specialty pizzas loaded with toppings, so I kept it simple with a pepperoni pizza, and it was excellent. The crust had a perfect char and great flavor. We also tried the burrata and oysters. The burrata was very good. The oysters were Gulf Coast oysters, and I personally prefer East Coast oysters, so I probably wouldn't order those again, but that's just personal preference. The staff was friendly across the board, and our server William was especially personable and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, really enjoyable lunch spot and I'll definitely be coming back.

Parking: Tons of parking here surprisingly, both a paved lot and a pebble lot. We had a reservation for 3 at 7PM and were promptly seated at a booth after a small line of people. Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Overall, would recommend as a relaxed date spot at a reasonable price. I paid via inKind and applied referral credit with no issues. Would come back with inKind credit, probably not at full price.
