This is only the second time I've had African food and jollof rice. I wasn't too hungry so I just got the Jollof rice plate with oxtail and kale. I loved the flavor of it so much, I almost licked my plate clean! It tasted different from the other time I had this dish, which had more of a tomato flavor. Kojo kojo makes their jollof rice super peppery and more on the savory side and I honestly prefer this taste over the tomato taste. The fufu is perfectly made, light and fluffy , wrapped in a beautiful leaf ( banana leaf ? I'm not sure) love that it wasn't wrapped in plastic. The egusi soup is perfect. Can have it vegan or with any meat / fish of your choice. Loved the okra stew as well. The plantains are perfect. He only uses olive oil, and everything is very mindful. Do better. Walked in and was not even greeted by the only person working there. She looked us right in her eye, and then walked right out the door past us and yelled at some man standing outside who begrudgingly came in and took our order, without saying anything to us, not even hello. I asked him how many orders of fufu we would need for 3 people and he just shrugged and said "I don't know I can't tell you that man probably a few ". He seemed stoned to the point where he could barely operate the pin pad machine. It was apparently over 65 dollars for three small orders of fufu and a couple orders of plantains. That did not look right to us and we figured we would just get the plantains elsewhere, and told him to please take them off the order. He didn't and pressed confirm order, I asked him if he removed them and he said he did, sure enough he didn't, so I had to turn the pin pad around myself, go back and manually remove them from the order . Very strange business practices, and 0 customer service. The place smelled and looked like it had not been swepped in ages. a group of friends & i have been saying how much we wanted to try fufu for over a week & i found this place on yelp & saw that there was an overall 4 star rating & assumed it would be a good choice. inside it's really small, which isn't really a problem for me. there's 2 tables that sit 4 people at each. when we got there, there was dishes on one table & the table we sat at had stains on the tablecloth as if someone had just been sitting there. i ordered okra soup with fish & fufu with a side of jollof rice & asked for it to be spicy after the server said he could make it spicy. when i got my food, i tried to eat it with my hands as they do traditionally but it was way too hot. i bit into the fish & i thought maybe he gave me a different type of meat because the texture of the fish was really tough. i didn't like the overall taste of the soup but i tried to be open minded & continue to eat it since it was something new but i ended up just putting the lid on my food & eating the fufu & it wasn't spicy. i really liked the fufu, it tasted just like a mashed potato! i had to remind him about my jollof rice & i took maybe 3 bites before closing that too. it tasted okay but i was pretty disappointed that i didn't like my main dish especially since i spent $44. the server was very nice & friendly, he gave us free water bottles. but the food wasn't great. i don't like to waste my food but i can't bring myself to eat the leftovers. i wouldn't go back & it makes me feel a bit reluctant to try fufu & soup from somewhere else. read more

My partner and I recently ordered fufu with egusi and okra soup from Kojokojo Fusion. Unfortunately, the entire experience, from the food to the service fell far below expectations. The egusi was okay... lacking a bit, we paid for oxtail but only three pieces were added in. The okra soup was very bad, it just didn't taste proper. Perhaps it went bad. The fufu was not properly prepared and didn't complement the soups at all. It was also wrapped in a leaf so it had hardened by the time we got home. Additionally, terribly small portions. What was especially discouraging was seeing the staff member microwave our food right before handing it to us, it made the meal feel rushed and inauthentic, especially at the price point (prices were not shown on the menu, we had to look online for it). We were genuinely disappointed, especially considering the price point, we left feeling like we hadn't gotten value for our money. Service also left much to be desired. We opted for takeout and chose not to leave a tip since there was no table service involved. After that, the staff member's attitude noticeably shifted, he seemed dismissive and uninterested in helping us. It left a bad impression and made us feel uncomfortable. On top of that, the restaurant environment felt neglected and poorly maintained, which didn't add confidence to the experience. We really wanted to enjoy this meal and support the business, but unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on every front. I hope the owners take feedback like this seriously and make the necessary improvements in food preparation, service, and environment. Save your money and go treat yourself somewhere else for the same price. First time trying Nigerian food and wow the food is good. It took me some time to get used to the texture of the fufu but I got it. From pulling a piece of fufu to dipping it into the soup and swallowing it whole, is such an interesting experience. Blessed to try foods from different cultures. Drove here from Palo Alto with some friends, and it totally lived up to the hype! The owner greeted us when we entered and explained that they had changed their name from Jolly Jolly, which is what I had saved on my phone before. We all tried Jollof Rice for the first time, and each chose different meats on it. The chicken, goat, and fish were all great, and the Jollof Rice was incredibly flavorful! There were other fruits and veggies mixed in, the plantains were great. It was a generous portion that I was just able to finish. FYI the water was free! The restaurant is small but has indoor and outdoor seating. While we ate, they were playing African music, which was a total vibe. I even ended up adding some songs to my Spotify! The modest store front lends itself to the authenticity of the food and ambience. Owner Jahswill is very gracious and welcoming and you really feel like your dining in A little Joint in Nigeria. Because it was so good the first time, I pnce again had the Jolof rice and goat. It was seasoned to perfection, with just the right amount of kick. The salads and fresh squeezed juices are incredible as well. The place is a bastion of flavor I tell you! This review is strictly for the service, not the tast and quality of food. I order online at 12:30 pm and it said my order would be ready at 1:09, but then at 1:09 the pickup time changes to 1:29pm. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:45 to give them some time and he was still preparing it. This was my lunch break and since the order was prepaid online I stayed till he finished at 2:20. I must say this is the absolute WORST service ever It's only one guy running the show and I respect that but he tries to accept every Uber Eats, Grub Hub order that comes in and he not staffes for this I come here 2x a year because it's never fails that you will wait a life time. The food was extremely salty, greasy, and mostly bones. Portions were tiny for the price, and we ended up throwing everything away. Wasted over $90 on food we couldn't eat. I was very curious about trying Ethiopian food and looked up restaurants in the Oakland area. Jolly-Jolly Coffee & Kitchen was the most intriguing, so my girlfriend and I decided to make a stop. We ordered the Egwusi Soup and Pounded Yam Combo and the Jollof Rice Combo to-go. The food was delicious and the flavors were something I never experienced. The fufu (pounded yam) was piping hot and balanced the flavor of the Egwusi soup and tender catfish. The Jollof Rice Combo was delicious, and had many different components that made it interesting, such as plantains, stir-fried kale, and cucumbers. I found myself always going back to the jollof rice, where every grain was packed with flavor and spices. Despite the delicious food, I was heavily disappointed by the prices. For each item, there was an additional charge based on what protein you chose. For example, the Jollof Rice Combo cost $22, plus an additional $5 for the Stewed Oxtail. I was expecting a very large portion of food; however, it was not enough for a meal.
