Cucumber salad
Amanda C.

I decided to order delivery from Osha Thai and was impressed by the quickness in how fast my food arrived. I can't speak for the service, but I've been told it's a local gem that everyone loves. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with a few seats inside if you do choose to eat in. I decided to get the tom yum soup with medium sized noodles and chicken. The soup base is a combination of spicy, sweet from the coconut milk base and salty. The noodles in medium thickness were both the right quantity and paired perfectly in the soup. The chicken pieces were tender and so good. I also tried the crab rangoons, which were big and completely filled with the crab meat. They were also nicely fried and did not feel oily at all. When eaten with the sweet dipping sauce, each bite was packed with a punch of deliciousness. Lastly, the cucumber salad added a refreshing bite to even out the heaviness of the meal. The dressing is more on the sweet side, but it tastes wonderful with the veggies. Overall, I plan to come back and enjoy more of the menu!

$13 thai samosa: fried mashed potato w/ curry powder and onion, side of fresh tangy cucumber salad

Street parking or nearby parking garage. Small location with a couple of tables. Indoor or outdoor seating. Process: - Order and pay in front with cashier - Select table and wait for food - Water station at front Order: - $20 Green curry (8/10): choices of rice (steamed, sticky, one more but i forgot) and protein (chicken, beef, pork, tofu, veggies, prawns). has eggplant, bell pepper, thai basil, and bamboo shoot. - $14 crab rangoon (9/10): wonton filled with snow crab meat, philadelphia cream cheese, water chestnut, onion, carrot, side of plum sauce. i only tasted the crab and cream cheese but was good. sauce was sweet and sour - $13 samosa (7/10): fried mashed potato with curry powder and onion served with cucumber salad Service was okay, not much interaction once food was served. Dining experience was not the best as the door wouldn't close shut so cold air kept coming in. Also there was a small roach on the wall next to where we sat. It kept staring at us. Food presentation was nice and tasted good.

I visited for lunch on a cold, rainy day. I ordered the chicken noodle soup. It was flavorful and had many chicken chunks. The staff was friendly and helpful during the ordering process. I will return to try other menu items.

Pad Thai
Tanya K.

The Pad Thai was good. When you order the dish it asks you what spice level, and I chose the second option which was "medium 3/10." The dish was definitely spicier than what I selected but it was still good. This place is very much self-service. You order via a QR code at the table. You get your own water. The staff only come by to bring you your meal when it's ready. Street parking in the area. Ambiance was nice inside restaurant.

BBQ Chicken

Stopped by Osha Thai Express today for a quick pickup and was seriously impressed. I ordered the BBQ chicken, and it did not disappoint. This was real, char-grilled BBQ--juicy, smoky, and full of flavor. Served over a bed of fluffy white rice, it hit all the right notes. What really tied the meal together was the papaya salad on the side--refreshing, crisp, and a perfect contrast to the savory chicken. Fast, flavorful, and satisfying. If you're looking for quick Thai that doesn't cut corners on quality, this spot is worth it.

Beef noodle soup

Way overpriced $24 total for beef noodle soup and if you order this make sure you ask for MEDIUM size rice noodles. They changed the noodles they use in this soup and their version of "small rice noodles" are angel hair which are paper thin, which won't hold any ingredients at all. The guy was decently nice but just know in advance. I only order this here so I know what I'm talking about. Other than that very good

I have been here many times and the food is always basic at best. Why do I keep coming back? Because it's literally in the building I live in and convenience is huge. My sister gifted me $25 when I was sick to get some soup. I forgot to get the soup so I decided to use that doordash tonight. I got the barbecue beef with rice and papaya salad. I ordered it online and like I said I live in the building, so literally 2 minutes away. When I picked it up it was cold. Why? Then when I opened the box I realized it's because the meat is paper thin. Is it meat?? Definitely doesn't look like the picture. If I had to pay $25 for this, I would be pissed, for sure. I'm grateful that my sister was the one who paid for this and I will never let her know I ordered this..we'll call it a meal. It will be our little secret, just like theirs with what they advertise and what you really get.

Spicy Basil with Fried Egg beef
Timothy N.

Came here for lunch and got the spicy basil with fried egg and beef. It was flavorful, tasty and comforting. I don't have any issues with the food, it just doesn't stand out for. It is also a bit more on the pricier side and ended up being about 22 dollars after tip. The staff were really nice and accommodating and overall I appreciated the vibes. I'll come back again to try a different dish!

I love Thai food and OSHA has been a goto for me and family. But we used to cross the bridge to San Francisco. I'm glad they opened a restaurant here in Oakland. A block an away from Grand Ave near Christ the Light Cathedral and Lake Merritt, this was a surprise and I usually ordered my beef pad thai. I haven't had pad thai in a while to this pretty satisfied my craving. The restaurant is clean. The service is great. The menu was easy to follow. Overall would come by here again. Also if you're craving for dessert Gregory's is just across the street!

Mango sticky rice

Very delicious and hit the spot. I ate about half of it before taking a photo so you'll get more than what you see here!

Trying out the new Thai place in Uptown.
Margaret H.

OSHA just opened an express branch in Uptown Oakland on 23rd Street. We ordered the pad Thai, crab fried rice, bbq pork salad and the mango sticky rice and sat outside in the lovely heated parklet area out front. All the dishes were delicious. The fried rice was light and not at all greasy. The pad Thai was excellent and it's a dish that I am familiar with - the noodles were just right and the sauce was not overly sweet. The portion of sticky rice was so generous and delicious. I mean, for me to have leftovers on yummy sticky rice means there had to be plenty of it. Our server was very attentive and accommodating of our requests for additional items. The food came out very fast and dessert came right as we finished the mains. I am excited for this new addition to the neighborhood.

Pad Thai

The food was so good. I have ordered from here before for delivery. I have never been disappointed. Check out the pictures. They look good, but the food was even better.

We all split all the specialty cocktails and I got the Khao Pad Kang Kiew (rice with eggplant and chicken topped with a fried egg). Dishes are $20-23 ish each. We were seated at the 6 person table in the back of the restaurant near the bathroom. My favorite drinks were their take on a hard thai iced tea, the lavender mojito, a take on an espresso martini. There was also this spicy drink that had thai chilis in it that is VERY spicy lol. Pros: - the rice dish was DELICIOUS and also huge haha. Came with cucumbers to cut the peppery flavor if needed. - All the cocktails were pretty different and it was fun to try all of them. They were all beautiful to look at and tasty (lots of coconut and Thai inspiration). - Service was pretty good - Has "typical" thai dishes like pad thai and pad see ew, and also more rare ones that are hard to find - Close to many bars and other establishments, so perfect if you want to eat here as a first, second, or third location of your outing haha Cons: - The air flow in the back wasn't amazing so I did feel like it got stuffy/hot - Parking can be tough in this area so I recommend BARTing Another reason to love Oakland!

Unfortunately it was too spicy for my liking and some of the white rice was burnt from the being at the bottom of the pot. There was only 8 eggplant pieces in the entire dish and surprisingly a lot more chicken. So depending on your preference this may be a good thing! I was really craving the sweet, earthy flavor of eggplant so while lots of protein was greatly appreciated I did wish there was more eggplant in the dish. Either way it was a good portion of food so they don't skimp here for sure! The service was friendly and super attentive the moment you walk in. I'd be willing to try another non spicy dish here.

But it was not full throughout the time we were at the restaurants. Experience: Food came out pretty fast and it was hot(!). Overall, service was good and they checked in on us a few times to make sure all is good. Food: - Nam Khao was fantastic. Crispy rice, the mixed minced vegetables, and the cooked sausage. Together with the lime that you can squeeze to preference, it was delicious! Haven't had Nam Khao this delicious in a while! - Pad See Ew with pork was alright. It was cooked well and a little on the sweeter side rather than savory, but missing the smoky flavor "wok hei" that would take this to the next level that I love. - Fried Sweet Fish was alright too. Fish is fried with a very thin batter but it had black pepper which my kids doesn't want as they're sensitive to anything spicy. The fish had a light fishy taste to it (fresh water fish) which would be better if they even use a little ginger to cut the fishy taste for a better taste. - Guay Tiew is very similar to Pad See Ew with the exception that it had a fried egg on the top and had seafood (shrimp and squid). - Vientiane Crispy Roll is different from regular egg rolls. Made with rice paper roll so it was crispy but also chewy, which is different and may not be what everyone is used to. Will return to try out other dishes.

I missed photos of the main entrees enjoying our time and honestly not sure what we ordered as we paid with a kiosk and didn't get a printed receipt even thought I typed in my email.. so that's frustrating with technology. If you want a receipt have it printed before you leave. My friend had a spicy eggplant dish and I had a tofu dish with rice and no fish sauce. Wish I could be more descriptive but can't say without an itemized receipt.. doesn't matter though, was all amazing flavors for both my friend (who travels and has worldly palette, and my self with a broad pallet only within the US) Flavors were amazing and service was on par. I did have an issue at first with the first server saying Pad Thai could be done with tofu and no fish sauce so I was excited, but then the next server said it was already mixed and not able to accommodate, but did find me an alternative I found flavorful with veggies, though missed having the peanuts in my dish. I had Pad See You instead without meat or fish sauce. Service overall was wonderful, attentive and didn't have to wait for anything. They did close and allowed us to stay on the patio visiting long after. Would be happy to return again.. I didn't ask about validating my parking and then they closed, so that was a bummer but my bad.. do check when you arrive and see if they can validate to help with a hefty parking cost $20 for us but hung out longer than most..

We ordered the Tom Kha, Nam Khao, Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps, Pineapple Khao Pad, and Geng Ka Ree. Everything was fabulous! Lots of great flavors and spices. The portion sizes were spot on. My favorite was the Nam Khao and the Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps. I love the bite-sized and sharing family-style. My companion and family also enjoyed it. Do you like the funk?…read more Our server explained to us the Lao version is more funky and fermented, while the Thai version is more mellow. We went with the Lao version. The Thai iced coffee was delicious and strong! As it should be. It did give me the jitters though because I'm a weak sauce. We were a party of ten and I was able to make rezzies via phone for a Friday evening at 6:30pm no problem about a week beforehand. The kiddos ordered à la carte, and five of us adults had the following: - BMV ultimate papaya platter with Lao sausage, angel wings and crispy pork. Crispy pork was legit, papaya salad definitely had that extra funk. The angel wings were crispy and meaty and my friends loved the Lao sausage. One even said "it's like tom yum soup in a sausage". It was very lemongrass forward which is not my thing, but that's my problem. I feel we could have ordered à la carte and that would have been a better deal than $75 for the platter. Some of it was fluff like the cabbage, rice and pork rinds. - Khao soy soup: Fiancé thought it would be creamy and coconut-y like the Thai version but it wasn't. I did enjoy the flat noodles but they were all stuck together. - Pia pla ka pow (fish with basil): Good one. The fish was moist and flavorful. The veggies were al dente and delicious too. - Sakoo: Unique! I enjoyed the chewy mochi exterior and the savory ground pork filling. It needed a sauce. I just used the chili sauce that was on the party platter. - Laab Gai: This fell flat for me. I'm not a huge fan of organs though. - Nam khao fried rice: One of our favorites! The crispy pieces really made this dish. Would definitely order this again. - Mango sticky rice: Served warm. Very sweet mango! - Purple rice with egg custard: Also served warm. This was ok. - Side of rice: HUGE serving! Unfortunately it was clumpy and hard, which means old. Street parking only. Get the nam khao and mango sticky rice!
