Happy that I finally got a chance to try this please It's super cute inside and they have a good variety of desserts and drinks. I will say, I came on a kind of hectic day, the whole streets internet was out and there was only 1 person working, so she kind of seemed a bit frazzled, understandably so. There also seemed to be quite a bit of missing desserts, I assume she didn't have much time to restock. Nevertheless, the worker still provided good, friendly service. We tried to coffee boba drink made with condensed milk instead of cream I believe. It was super strong and I'm glad I was sharing with a friend. I got some sort of tiramisu mousse. It was really tasty. We also tried the strawberry cake loaf, it wasn't that great. Looking forward to coming back and trying more items on a less hectic day. read more

My Fave: Taiwanese and Cantonese Banana Leaves with Sticky Rice If you're looking for an adorable little spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, this Asian bakery should be on your "to visit list." The bakery is pretty spacious, has cute pastel tables with sufficient room. Most guests take their orders to go, so you'll always find somewhere to lounge. Service is really friendly, it's usually one sweet lady at this store. Their bubble tea menu is next level -- classic milk teas, fruity refreshers, milk foam, boba teas, and coffee. But the real standout here is the Vietnamese coffee -- rich, bold, and served ice-cold with sweet condensed milk. It's the kind of drink that wakes you up and makes you happy at the same time. When I visited, they also had new featured drinks like Orange Creamsicle and Mango Pomelo Sago with Lychee Jelly. And then... the desserts. They're so cute and look like they're out of a cartoon x Think fluffy Japanese-style cheesecakes, tiny treats with cute decor, macarons, and tiny cakes. They're all so adorable and really unique. The bakery offers custom cake but I don't know how that ordering works. But wait...there's more. There is a case with really budget-friendly (only a few bucks, some dollar something) dough goods. Think little pies with various fillings and toppings like red bean, ham, or sweet cream. I often go for this case to try a few new things because I'm really an eager trier of everything new. On this visit, I treated myself to a few things. I got large Iced Vietnamese Coffee. It tastes much better than at their other location. I got Cantonese Style and Taiwanese Style sticky rice inside banana leaf. This is my all time fave, it's a very tasty sticky rice with various meats. It's a good amount of rice and such cool presentation. I learned that eating banana leaf is a no-no. There's also a vegetarian option. I also got hot dog bun for only $1.95! I have some eating to do! Parking at this location is available as street parking. It gets busy during the day. Use free garage near One Hot Pot for parking. It's multi-tiered. read more

This is a cute spot on Coventry that serves fruit teas, milk teas and pastries. There are a lot of options and if you have a certain flavor preference there are different options like smoothies, different toppings and even cheese foam (it's more like a creamy topping like a cold foam than actual cheese). I ended up ordering a passionfruit fruit tea with boba. The tea was delicious and the boba was the perfect texture for me. My friend ordered a mango drink and accidently ordered boba instead of the popping pearls they prefer, but they still enjoyed the tea. We sat at one of the table by the window and caught up for a bit and it was a perfect setting. It wasn't too loud and the staff were really nice. There is also free parking up the street, just a short walk away. Next time, I would try something new and probably order some of their baked goods, they looks delicious. read more

I mistakenly ordered pastries from this location instead of the one by Dagu Noodle and Hans. I ended up driving 13 mins to pick up the order. The main differences I saw was that you had to park on the street and pay the meter. The pastries are pretty much the same. I did notice a bad odor while viewing the pastries case against the side wall. I suspect they should be relocating the trash bin away from that area to prevent that. read more

What a cute little bakery in Cleveland! It's often hard to find Asian bakeries here in Ohio/Cleveland, but Koko Bakery hits the spot and has a decent selection of the popular Asian/chinese pastries one could want. Grabbed my favorite coconut bread and it was actually so good it! The bbq pork pastry was delightful too, as it was flaky and savory! Their egg tarts are also tasty. I introduced my friend to Chinese pastries and the staff were all very kind, helpful, and patient with her. We both had a great first experience here and will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely delicious buns and bubble tea. Not too sweet but so indulgent and rich. It's cute in here and there was plenty of room to move around with a power wheelchair. Plus the bathrooms are pretty accessible even though they're not labeled as such. It was a bit hard to get in the door with the powerchair because the mats on the outside kept slipping, it may be hard to get in on your own. Midtown's premier Taiwanese/Hong Kong bakery has finally opened up a second location, joining a plethora of other Asian themed restaurants on Coventry Rd. While the interior and exterior have gotten a facelift compared to the OG Koko, the essential menu items and displays are comfortingly familiar. The main dining area encompasses most of the new space, with much more colorful, plush, and distanced seats compared to the original location. However, they have the same self-serve baked goods cabinet, refrigerated items, and dessert cases. At the counter, you can order milk tea and other drinks, however they are not currently offering made-to-order teriyaki bowls like in Asia Town. When I went in on a weekday evening, they had already stopped baking for the day and the selection in all their baked goods sections were dwindling. If you want to guarantee fresh curry pork or ham and cheese buns, be prepared to get there early. Staples of these Chinese bakeries like the pineapple buns (so called because the tops look like pineapple skin, not because they actually have pineapple) are reliable, and this will be a good place to stock up on Japanese cheesecake and Taiwanese style mooncakes. The drinks are a little too sugary and artificial for me, however it is nice to have another option for milktea besides Kenko on the east side of Cleveland. I think students and families alike will appreciate this new location even though parking can be irritating on the street or the parking garage down the street. What a great bakery! I happened upon Koko Bakery as I was walking through the area, and I am so happy I did. Koko Bakery has a wide variety of options from sweet and savory buns, to crepe cakes, mousse, and of course, bubble tea! I got a lemon jelly bun and brown sugar milk tea, both of which were great. Additionally, the staff is friendly, and the bar is a nice, peaceful place to sit and look out the window while snacking on your treats. Coventry has been blessed to welcome Koko into the neighborhood! This Asian bakery reminds me of the ones back home in California, which is so comforting. It's worth going earlier, rather than later, since they can run of our of the more popular items. For anyone who hasn't been, they have parchment lined trays under the pastry shelves. Grab one and then one of the disposable gloves and some tongs. You choose all your goodies and put them on your tray until you're ready to check out, when you bring it to the register. They'll package each one and then check you out - I'll make sure to just bring my own container next time since I'm trying to be more conscious of packaging. They have plenty of choices, from the classics that I'd recommend (green onion, taro paste, pork buns) to some new ones that I just loved (pork puff, curry beef). I'm absolutely obsessed with the pork puffs. I would have gotten a few for myself and been satisfied. In the pastry cabinet, prices range from around $2-$5. They so have a smaller selection of savory buns that are kept fresh and warm. I really wanted to try a BBQ pork bun, since that is usually a go-to but they were out (or hadn't put them out yet since it was first thing in the morning). There is a shelf with other loaves of bread, like the taro paste one we got. There was a raspberry one I really want to get next time. They have a freezer with buns that you can take to-go to make at home. I had already grabbed a bunch of pastries so I didn't look at what else was there. When you check out, you can also select other favorites, like the mango mousse and other desserts. One thing that we were intrigued by was the cheese foam boba drink selection. I was skeptical, since the cheese foam is a blend of cream cheese, but it balanced the sweet matcha and brown sugar boba quite well - added a slight creamy and salty aspect to the drink. Just try it! They have so many treats I want to try, so I'll be back soon. They do have some in person seating (assuming this covid surge doesn't change things). The new Koko Bakery location is worth a trip to Coventry. I was first introduced to Koko Bakery when I was in college and have since been a big fan of their bakery, so I was delighted to see that their new location in Coventry actually puts them closer to the CWRU campus- which I think will be a prime location for their business. I know that I would've regularly stopped here as an undergrad when I ventured up Murray Hill. The interior to this new location is, in a word, happy. The pastel colors brighten the space and provide ample seating arrangements if you plan to dine in. If you're new to the concept of an Asian style bakery, you'll go in and be greeted by several cases full of various pastries. You take a tray and a pair of tongs and select whatever looks good to you. Don't forget to look in the hot pastry case where some of the most delicious savory pastries hide out. On the inaugural trip to the new location, I went with my mom. We selected two pastries each and shared so we could sample more. I got the hot beef curry puff and green onion bun. My mom got the beef curry donut and red bean pastry bun. All were excellent. I think the stand out has to be the beef curry donut - though the green onion bun was a close second. The juxtaposition of the savory beef curry with a sweet and fluffy bun is odd the first time you have it, but it'll make an addict out of you if you continue to the second bite. We also both ordered hot coffee which was run of the mill diner coffee - and honestly, that's what I want with my pastries. Before leaving, I decided I really ought to have a bubble tea while we strolled more around the area. I got the kumquat and lemon flavoring with regular bobas. I learned that if you want it to be milk tea style, you should request that specifically (I mistakenly assumed that's how they come standard). The flavor was delicious - and they have about 20 different flavors - so I'm eager to try more of the flavors next time I'm in. Congrats Koko Bakery on your second location! read more

Convenient location on Coventry for tasty pastries, bread, and boba. There's plenty of seating and free wifi. Although I haven't tried too many of their boba drinks, I think in Cleveland, this place is a solid choice for boba. When I arrived on a Sunday afternoon there were not as many pastries as I saw in their other location on different days, so I'm assuming you would have to arrive earlier for fresh breads. We also bought bbq pork buns in the fridge that were savory, sweet, and soft after microwaving them (wrapped in wet paper towel). Steaming them at home would maybe make them even better. I decided to visit this bakery at my daughter's suggestion since she wanted to try the new Japanese bakery in the area. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I came in here. All the selections are written in both English and Japanese. There was a hot foods section along with various baked breads and both refrigerated and non refrigerated pastries. There is also a small seating area. I was looking around to see if I could find anything for my son who is vegan and I saw on the counter vegan sesame balls!! I knew he had to have a couple of these! When I went to purchase them I asked the man behind the counter about his pastry recommendations. He suggested that I try the crispy rice flour cake. You can purchase it individually or save a few cents if you buy a 4 pack. I did the latter and took it home with me. I found the rice cake was a light airy bun covered in a not overly sweet glaze. Was different than what I was used to but hey I like to try new things. My son was thrilled about getting the vegan sesame balls since they are made with red beans. I was told that they didn't have to be heated but will let him decide what he wants to do with them. This place can be pricey especially if you are looking to purchase Japanese light cheesecake. They have interesting cakes on display as well. I'm glad I had an opportunity to visit here and will definitely try their other offerings should I find myself in this area again. read more

MY KOKO SAGA This place has no need of my praise, but I'm gonna give it anyway. We recently moved to the Cleveland area, and all I wanted to do was try Koko Bakery while we were downtown. We never got around to it, and I was pretty bummed out, thinking we'd probably never be back since we weren't living as close. Lo and behold, on one long, snowy walk, we discovered they were opening a Koko Bakery in Coventry! AH YEAH! Every time we walked by I was drooling--long before the place even opened. The wait was pure torment. As soon as they opened their doors we dove right in. The result? ZERO REGRETS! Every pastry in the case is cloud-level fluffy and insanely delicious--like consistently so. The Thai coffee is even more addictive than regular coffee. Best of all, the prices are way more reasonable than they are at a certain other cafe with a green, mythological creature on its logo. I cannot express to you how tempted I am to completely buy out Koko Bakery's pastry case every time I enter the building. EPILOGUE: We did eventually wind up downtown in the dead of winter and decided to try the Koko Bakery there. It's equally good. Bakeries like these are the main reasons you will never find me on a low carb diet. read more

I dropped by this little bakery/cafe on a Saturday afternoon for some boba and was pleasantly surprised by this location. They have an extensive drinks menu and plenty of pastries to choose from. I went later in the afternoon so there wasn't the greatest selection at the time but I'm sure this is a place worth waking up early for! I'm pretty sure it's run by a mother son duo because she scolded him in Cantonese LOL but we Stan small family businesses. The service was quick (maybe a little curt but that's ok) and there's an adorable seating area with plenty of cozy chairs to lounge on while enjoying your sweets. I think it's be a good cafe for a study session too since they provide free wifi. I got a fresh taro bubble milk tea w/cream cover which was more expensive but rich and not too sweet. I'd give it a 4/5 taste wise. My friend bought the regular milk tea and gives that a 4/5 too. The store overall is a little expensive but definitely worth a try and a relaxing way to spend an afternoon :) read more

I was so excited to see that koko bakery opened up a location in Cleveland Heights. I can now get my bubble tea fix whenever I want, which is a little dangerous for my wallet and waist line. They do a solid job with their milk teas and fruit teas, and I also have enjoyed the Hong Kong milk tea and Vietnamese coffee. As far as their pastry selection, it's pretty standard Asian bakery fare. I would recommend coming earlier in the day if you would like a wider variety: I find often when I visit in the afternoon, most of the cabinet has been cleared out. The decor inside is very cute as well, and it is a pretty decent study spot when they're not too busy. read more

I am in the mood for boba approximately every day, so on a recent visit to Cleveland, my friend took me here, and it was delicious! The staff are so friendly and the service was very quick. I ordered a regular milk tea with boba and it was sooo good! I was worried because they don't let you adjust your sweetness level like lots of boba shops, but it was perfect: a bit sweet, but not even remotely overwhelming. The boba was chewy and the tea didn't have that weird powdery taste some milk teas have. I wish I had been hungry, because they had several display cases with cakes, pastries, steam buns, breads, etc. that looked amazing! On a future visit, I hope to come here for a meal and just eat my way through the pastries. And, of course, get another boba. read more

I was attracted to this place because of all the good reviews and photos of the buns so decided to give it a shot... Although we arrived after 1, 90% of their buns were already sold out with no plans to restock. Maybe it means they're really good?! But can't comment on that since we didn't end up buying any of the ones that were left. The biggest disappointment was the quality and taste of their bubble tea. When I saw all the powders and syrups on their back counter, I should've clued in but since I was pretty desperate for caffeine, I proceeded to buy a jasmine milk green tea with pearls. While the Jasmine flavor was very strong, the tapioca pearls were NOT good. The texture of the pearls was really soft on the outside (with no "chew" factor) and the taste of the pearls was bland with a hint of green onion or garlic! So needless to say, I avoided drinking any of the pearls and barely finished my drink. Would definitely NOT recommend this place for their milk teas and pearls! read more

The rose tea was so chemically and sickly sweet I took it back to exchange it for something plain, with just tea, without whatever syrups or powders they use. I explained that I know what tapioca tea should taste like and have drank lots of it in my time. The older clerk got upset and gave me a long, half-incomprehensible lecture about how next time, my original order is my order, and not to ever change my order again and ask them to remake a drink. She continued talking in Chinese to the other girl all the while about me and my outrageous request. I almost just walked out, because I didn't want to upset the woman anymore, but while she'd been lecturing me, the other girl had made a plain green tea with boba. The new drink's boba tasted great, but the tea is watered down and the water doesn't taste well-filtered... It's like drinking swimming pool water. Be aware they use real milk in a lot of their menu drinks, and nowhere does it say in which ones. When I asked, she went down the list of about 40 flavors, naming off 20 or so that get milk. She said you can sub almond milk for no additional price, but it should really be written on the menu. read more
