Intended to buy some pastries at the Shaker Square Farmers Market, but Edwin's wasn't there. Went to the nearby shop instead and am glad I did. Such a lovely bakery and cafe, and attached to a bookshop! The pastries were top notch, too. My grandfather was a French pastry chef, and until today I had never had Danish pastries that measured up. The blueberry and cheese Danishes were outstanding - the dough was delicious! I think the croissants were some of the best I've ever had, both the flavor of the dough and the texture. This bakery is truly a treasure - kudos to the team behind it! Looking forward to another visit soon. read more

I've invited friends to breakfast here and they have told me that it has become one of their favorite breakfast places. Park right out front, very attentive service, good food, many choices, and moderate prices. It is my favorite breakfast place near Shaker Square. That it supports a good cause is a bonus. Another visit to another Edwins and another homerun for Brandon Chrostowski. I hope you know the mission of the Edwins Institute so I will not go into the details about it here... So on to the bakery/diner experience - it is absolutely great! My daughter can't stop speaking how much she loved it here. When you come in, you are greeted by the counter with the the display of all freshly baked goodies (and they all look amazing). To the left is the library with some of the seating's and to the right is the diner itself (the diner itself is pretty small but library and butcher shop next door has some additional seats). The menu itself is full of all the great breakfast/brunch spots. My daughter ordered iced white mocha coffee, which they don't have on the menu but the individual behind the counter didn't blink and made it for her (great service, very typical of Edwins experience!). We tried 3 things on the menu: Corned Beef Hash (home-made corned beef, awesome! a bit of a miss that eggs were a bit overcooked and more carrots that I prefer), Crepes with strawberry and nutella, and egg sandwich on a croissant with smoke salmon. We also ordered Pain Au Chocolat and Lemon Curd to go. Everything was outstanding. Definitely coming back! P.S. When you are here, visit the butcher shop!!! Really neat as well read more

Great option for a breakfast/brunch. I got the basic breakfast that came with eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes. It tasted really good. My only complaint was some of potatoes were undercooked, and some pieces were too hard to eat through. The flavor was on point though. Service was super attentive. I enjoyed brunch from here!! super affordable with tasty food. We had the sausage biscuits and gravy, steak and eggs, grits, and house made sausage and it was all yum!! some of the dishes definitely need an egg add on to satisfy those brunch cravings. the only complaint I have is that almost the entirety of the bakery menu was unavailable at ~11am on a Sunday. No way food should have this much grease in/on it. It is obvious the potatoes were double or triple dipped because the were still dry inside despite all the oil and not even warm. the sandwich bread was oily as well. It used to be one of my favorite spots for breakfast, not anymore. The last few times there was no consistency in the meals. Get it together. read more

Incredible breakfast at a reasonable price. This place is for real; do yourself a favor and try it!

We ate an amazingly delicious and inexpensive breakfast in the diner attached to the bakery this morning. My husband had Edwin's omelette which he loved and I had the strawberry and cream cheese crepes which were delicious and slightly crispy. Both came with lyonnaise potatoes which are addicting. My turkey sausage (made in the butcher shop next door) was the best I have ever had. I wouldn't have guessed it was turkey if I had not known. And my husband loved the smoked bacon from the butcher. We also bought a croissant, a scone, and lemon bars from the bakery for later. We will most definitely be back and bring family and friends. We have just found our favorite breakfast place!!! read more

Absolutely fantastic! The gentleman working was so kind and the pastries were PERFECTION! The raspberry danish was incredible. I tried the Pain au chocolat for the first time and if you are a fan of dark chocolate and a croissants... you need to give it a try! I can't wait to come back now that we found out that they have a breakfast menu! We also want to try some of their coffees, lattes, teas and hot chocolates! My only complaint would be that it was difficult to figure out where to park, but that definitely is not a deterrent for us. read more

Large place with bakery, deli, and some quiet study type areas in one big building. Limited hours e.g. Sunday only open from 10:30-1:30, but worth the trip. In the deli they sell all sorts of sauces, marinades, bacon, jerky, ribs, cheeses. They have a hot food menu. My pulled pork sandwich with cheese wasn't too expensive at $8. The bakery had a cretzel which is a croissant with some heterogenous pretzel dough and salt atop. It was pretty interesting and would have been great if paired with a savory sauce or even cinnamon butter. The lady working said the cookies were just out of the oven and were soft yet the chocolate chip cookie was absolutely burned on bottom and very hard to the point of tasteless crumb explosions with my attempted bites so I tossed it. The oatmeal raisin cookie was somewhat chewy in the middle but the edges were also hard and overcooked. The blueberry scone was more my style- very moist and not dry at all with a cake like texture and excellent real blueberry flavor. The cinnamon roll was the best by far. It was very soft and had genuine cinnamon roll and sweet frosting flavors. The pulled pork sandwich was fine although the pork was burned and kinda tough and lacking in sauce which would've rehydrated it. Bun was soft and lightly toasted. By far the best brunch place on the East side in Cleveland! Large portions that completely cover the plate, extremely attentive service, and delicious food. Since no one had added Edwins Bakery to Yelp yet I figured I would and at least give it a quick review. Just a quick stop to grab a couple of items, but glad to see EB open and busy. Located on Buckeye Road just East of Edwins Butcher Shop (there is actually a pass through between the shops). Edwins continues to grow and to expand its offerings providing culinary education to formerly incarcerated people as well as helping to revive the Buckeye neighborhood. The Bakery and Cafe consists of 3 rooms, a nice cafe room with a limited menu of breakfast items, the bakery itself and a library room with books and plenty of places to sit. All three rooms are nicely set up and where busy when I stopped by at about 9am on the Monday before Christmas. The Bakery has a relatively small footprint with a glass display case of pastries, a couple of sweets in the cooler, about 4-5 breads available and several items in baskets on the counter by the register. The selection looked very nice and I picked a soft pretzel ($1.50) and the Chocolate Pastry ($3). The pretzel was nice, soft but chewy with good flavor and just the right amount of salt. The Chocolate Snail was excellent with slightly sweet flaky pastry with high quality bittersweet chocolate giving delicious bursts of deep rich chocolate flavor. Both pieces were very good, the prices were reasonable for the quality that I received. Edwins Bakery is a welcome addition to the Buckeye/Shaker Square area and provides good food for the price, even better they are training people to work in bakeries and cafes so that they can get jobs which is a great mission. Give any of the Edwins facilities a try. read more

I've been wanting to check out Edwin's Bakery for some time now and today was the day! I stopped by to pick up some pastries for my team at work. I got there right as they were opening and got a variety of pastries including scones, danish, croissant and a cinnamon roll (they put that in a separate bag just for me!). Everything was fresh from the oven. The cinnamon roll was light and flakey and honestly other than homemade it was the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. I didn't get to try the other pastries but everything looked amazing and my team raved about them! The service was great too, we chatted a little about awesome growth happening for the Edwin's family of restaurants in Shaker Square. He also explained the menu/pastries and offered items right from the oven as they were coming out! I will definitely be coming back and will bring friends. Popped in to check it out on our way home from University Circle. Bought a brownie and a pain au chocolate. The brownie was probably the best one I've ever had! Thick and perfectly chewy all the way through with yummy crispy edges. We ordered 50 breakfast pastries from Edwins Bakery to deliver to front line workers. We arrived early and everything was ready, packaged in individual paper bags for us to deliver.
