Koko Marina Center has been around for awhile. I want to say it was established when Hawaii Kai was first developed back in the 1960's. A series of buildings to include a number of dining and water sports establishments that offer access to the waterfront. They have everything from a 24 Hour Fitness to Walgreens, and Petco. They also have local, small businesses such as Hammonds Gourmet Ice Cream Shop and Boba's Crystals. Lots of eateries: Zippy's , Teddy's Bigger Burgers, Heavenly Island Lifestyle ( from where I took the photo, while I waited for my takeaway ), and Assaggio's. They have a night market on every first Saturday of the month. Craft fairs on every third and fourth Saturday. Lots of parking stalls and there is a Texaco gas station fronting Kalanianaole Highway. read more

I really like this shopping center and that the management opens it up to the community for craft fairs, health fairs, sports fairs and other events to give start up businesses an opportunity to showcase their wares. I've had my blood pressure checked. I've had a minute massage. I've bought cuts air plants to gift others. I've bought big and small labyrinths. They utilize the parking lots throughout the entire center to spread out the kiosks and it keeps the flow moving around instead of blocking any business. I used to shudder at the thought of driving from Hālawa to Koko Marina now I just make it an adventure based on the street fair of the weekend. So many fun places to eat too. read more

Went to the Koko Marina Craft Fair....held on the third Saturday of the month. Purchased manju...from the Manju Lady. Love her manju and the different types. Flaky crust and moist inside. This shopping center is one of 3 center in the Hawaii Kai area and the oldest. Although there are a few good retailers, the infrastructure of the complex is old, worn and looks just plain tired. The center was built in 1963 and it very much shows its age. There are many empty storefronts in the center. The management or ownership needs to really look at making some modern improvements or getting more tenants to bring life back into Koko Marina Center. read more

I always thought of this mall as the last stop for food and gas before the site seeing begins for haunama bay, makapu, sea life park and blow hole. I like this mall because it has a lot but not. In the past we had the theaters and the dollar store. That's a thing of the past and the mall is kind of dying needing a refresh and another anchor store. The positives are the Chinese dim sum restaurant, Walgreens, pet store, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Kona brewing, Kokonuts and a smattering of small eateries. There are a number of choices spread out but some places are more pricey than others. This is a good option prior to a site seeing trip out east or after. Koko Marina Center has some great restaurants such as Greek Marina and Harbor Village (Chinese) Cuisine. I've dined at both of these places several times with family and friends. I also go to the Koko Marina Consolidated Theater to see artsy, international, or independent movies... Such as "Parasite" - an Academy Award winner! Koko Marina is on the way to the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail. My friends and I have often gone to Zippy's after a hike or have had a dine-in meal at Morena Cafe. The Leonard's Malasadamobile is in the far corner of the parking lot if we still have space in our tummies. Many moons ago, I used to work at the Straub Clinic at Koko Marina for the Internal Medicine Department. Sometimes, I'd catch a quick lunch at Taco Bell. Ah... It allows the opportunity for local dealers to sell their items and customers to check them out at one place. The dealers setup on the sidewalk around the stores. Unfortunately the parking is a beast and extremely tight. This combined with people who are horrible at parking made it so bad that I had to park our small car and climb out through our trunk to get out. This is a nice little shopping center far from the city. Koko Marina is located in Hawaii-Kai and has an old feel to it. While it used to be more fun with some key closures, it's still a great place to stop by with some gems. They have all the key places you'd need: a Walgreens, Petco, gas station, movie theatre, and casual restaurants galore. Our favorite reason to come here is Kona Brewing Co., still one of the best restaurants around for locally sourced food and cold beer; even through the entrance looks like it's in a parking lot, the main restaurant overlooks the lake and mountains. The shopping center has plenty of free parking all around. Some areas are reserved for specific businesses, so make sure if you're staying a while. After you park it's easy to walk around to other places. At the time of this writing a number of places are still closed due to COVID19 concerns, but I'm sure it'll become a one-stop location for fun and entertainment again. read more

Used to come here all the time growing up. This was the only theater near our house so we'd see all the movies here and go to Pricebusters (RIP) to get our candy! Blockbuster was around the corner to rent the newest Mary Kate and Ashley movie, and Foodland (RIP) was next to Loco Moco! We usually get the Calamari legs appetizer which is a good serving of crispy crunchy calamari rings & legs! It is served with lemon & a tartar sauce! The Gyro salad comes with a nice Greek salad with red onions, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, feta cheese & a really light vinaigrette dressing! 4 pieces of pita bread and perfectly sliced lamb pieces. This place has been going downhill ever since foodland closed its doors. I particularly get upset when I go to Koko Marina center now because there is one (and only one) electric vehicle charger. How is that even possible?? There are no chargers in waimanalo and none in Aina hina. There is ALWAYS someone occupying this one stall and I've seen cars waiting to charge on multiple occasions. If they had more EV chargers, I'd be more willing to shop around, instead, I pick up a Starbucks and head on down the road. They have a movie theaters, food places, Starbucks, nail salon, bank, clothing stores, etc. i hardly come on this side due to living on the west side, but when i am in the area i make sure i stop here to pick up a coffee or even eat lunch at zippys. Love the 808 Craft Fair held on the 3rd Saturdays of each month 10-3 pm. The variety of items for sale are of good quality and ranges from baked goodies to collectibles. Not to mention handcrafted cards, post-it pads, lamps, jewelry (costume and real), face masks, face mask chains and clips, Children clothing, blankets, resin cutting boards, and dog leashes and collars. The booths are located outside the perimeter of the mall and socially distanced. Sellers ask buyers to create socially distanced lines whenever there is a line forming. A vendor told me that the Fair will be held each Saturday in November and December. read more

We were here today to eat at Harbor Village Cuisine, then got malasadas from the Leonard's Malasadamobile. This place is anchored by Consolidated Theatres Koko Marina. ***Pre/During COVID-19 Visit*** We really like visiting this part of the town and this center is fun to spend the day at. It's become our thing to eat at the Moena Cafe, go to Starbucks and then walk around. The boats are really cool to watch and they usually even have craft events here. There's tourists all over so just be prepared if parking is already full depending on your arrival time. Yes, the parking spaces are ridiculously tiny, but this is Hawaii, not the mainland. Day or night, this place has a wide array of restaurants. From fast food, take out, casual brewery to a high end Italian restaurant. Lots of big and little shops, services and gas station. 24 hour fitness and First Hawaiian bank, too. Pretty much parking is plentiful. Beautiful harbor views. Tuesday afternoon I travelled all the way to Koko Marina Center for the first time in a few years. I met up with my travel buddies at McCully Shopping Center before reaching the final destination at Koko Marina Center. Upon arriving at the shopping center I noticed all the different establishments. Shops to satisfy the hunger, shops for clothing, shops for pets, a Consolidated movie theater, a gas station, as well as a 24hr Fitness. My group first headed towards the Consolidated movie theaters to purchase $6.00 movie tickets for Money Monster. Movie starts at 7:50pm so we had about an hour to get some food to satisfy our hunger. One of my travel partners opted to get a poke bowl from Paina Cafe. My other travel partner and I ended up going to Teddy's Bigger Burger for grinds. There goes my burger strike for the month. Hunger satisfied and then it's off to the movies. After watching the adult humored movie it was time to wait for the bus. We killed time by browsing in the WalGreens store right next to the pet store. One of Hawaii's local entertainers walked into the store as well. Too bad I didn't ask Henry Kapono for a selfie pic with him. If and when I do travel to East Honolulu again I need to remember to make my way to Bubbie's Homemade Ice Cream shop for ice cream. I'd also like to try some of the other restaurants that are located at Koko Marina Center. Who knows maybe on my next Tuesday night off from work I'll make my way back to Koko Marina Center. 86/200 read more

Koko Marina Center has been around forever and the layout has not changed very much, even though a few of the shops have over the years. There used to be a Foodland many years ago, but is now a Walgreens and Petco. The theaters are still around. You'll find a Zippy's at the far end of the center and other local eateries like Kozo Sushi, Teddy's Bigger Burgers, Jamba Juice, and much more! Also can't forget about the 24 Hour Fitness next to the First Hawaiian Bank. Aside from shopping and dining, you'll experience excellent and fabulous views of the marina and other parts of the Hawaii Kai neighborhood. Parking is plentiful but can be tough at times and also depends on where you are visiting. read more

I wish we had some of these restaurants in the Kapolei Shopping Center! They recently closed down Foodland, which idk why. I like this shopping center. The next closest thing to civilization to Haunama Bay. It's your one stop shop before going to the Bay for a day of fun on the weekend. It's my favorite spot to hang out, since I work in Kalihi during the week and need a change of scenery. This place is a tourist trap for sure, but it beats Ala Moana and Waikiki any time, since there are alot more people and there's a tendency for homeless people to congregate there. Koko Marina is away from that and the prices at the stores are competitive anyway. I use Starbucks and 24 Hour Fitness whenever I come here, but also do Jamba Juice and the occasional movie theater when there's good things to watch. I also bank at First Hawaiian, so that banking at that location before working out can't be beat! Check it out! read more

A small waterfront shopping center that we wanted to visit on one of our driving days. We went here after checking out the small marina (no beach) across the way. It is located right before Hanauma Bay (the driver for our last jaunt there took us to the gas station to give us our snorkel equipment). A few good reasons to come here: (1) Price Busters- think if Big Lots married a Dollar store- great place for snacks, like a variety pack of Mochi for $2.49 (2) Bubbie's- the best Green Tea ice cream ever (better than Dave's). Also there are many other dining choices like: Yummy Korean BBQ (mmm), Starbucks, Blazin' Steaks (mmm), Foodland, Jamba Juice, Kokonuts Shave Ice and Ice Cream (we almost tried it but we saw Bubbies!), Zippy's (overlooking the water- but it's a covered dining area, kinda neat, we looked at the boats and the bathrooms are right there, too), Papa John's & Taco Bell (plus more that I have not mentioned). Others worth mentioning: the Movie Theater, 24 Hour Fitness gym, Local Motion, Timberland, Al Phillips dry cleaning (also does alterations), and the UPS store. Funny story: in the door of a small gift shop, the sign said "No animals" but a friendly yellow Labrador came up to the door when he saw me, wagging his tail as my husband snapped a picture of the ironic event- hahaha. I almost wanted to go in but since it was a small gift shop, seemed like it would have inflated prices (you know how it is). It was a busy weekday afternoon- lots of people, guessing more locals than tourists. It's a cute quaint little shopping center worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

Understand the challenges going on now with the Pandemic, but management needs to do a better job of maintaining the area around the shopping center. We are there pretty often to purchase meals to go and are very disappointed with the amount of rubbish blowing around. The area around the bus stop on Kalanianaole Hwy has a lot of trash despite a rubbish bin right there. Across the street there is rubbish all along the guardrail. There is a group that cleans up along the hwy at times, but since the mess comes from Koko Marina, management needs to have their groundskeepers clean it up when it gets bad....like it is now. This place is alright. The center is dingy and old. Restrooms are dirty, signs aren't replaced, and there's a lot of vandalism. Despite this, they have good tenants like Teddy's and Zippy's. These kinds of places are one of the only reasons I come here. read more

This is one of the few shopping places in Hawaii Kai side that has good restaurants and a movie theater. The ground looks like it needs to be repaved, but there are plenty of parking. This is close to Hanauma Bay, so it is convenient to get food before or after you go swimming. read more

I come allll the way from town to Hawaii Kai for crepes from this place because nowhere else have I tasted crepes this yummy. Besides I-hop. You can add on things to your crepe, like Nutella, for a few quarters more. The people who work here are pleasant. The only thing I would have taken a star away for (but I didn't!) is the fact that they have weirddddd hours. Just another shopping center. Its an outdoor place but it has what every other shopping center has BUT it also has some stores and restaurants that are fronting the water! If you go to Kona Brewing company, you can have views of all the boats and stuff out there. Also, there are food places scattered through the shopping center, Its not "centralized" like some other malls. Some very good places to eat, a cinema, some professional services and other shops make a well balanced set of offerings and a natural gathering place for this part of Hawaii Kai. I miss the old Foodland - without it Hawaii Kai's Safeway is much more crowded and some of the items are just not to be had - like F-land's poke. Anything from fast dining (Zippy's) to sit down service (Assagio) to pub (Kona Brew) to burgers (Teddy's) and pizza (Sophie's). Shave ice/bubble tea (Kokonuts) and ice cream (Bubbie's). Drug store (Walgreen). There are MANY more stores here but these are the ones I'm most at.
