We tried looking for an elevator but the one that went to the bottom floor was down. We then decided to just use the escalator even though it is not the safest and the escalator wasn't working as well. Mind you, this has been the case for well over a year... it was down way before our daughter was born and she is now 6 months. I don't know, maybe the Ala Moana owners has a problem with babies and wheelchairs cause why is it taking soo long for them to fix it.

Kailua Town center has been a really fun place to go to lately!…read more They sometimes throw events or have cute things going on that you'd WANT to make the drive over to Kailua! Last christmas they had a bunch of cute photo ops. I'm glad i took the time to go down because it was really cute and apparently the last christmas for my dog, Nala. I'm glad i was able to capture some memories with happier times when she was somewhat healthier. On Thursdays - they have farmers markets in the evening. Don't forget to bring cash with you (which i totally forgot). There are some food vendors that will take credit card tho. Recently they've been throwing little events around Kailua town too. The lei bus has been there in the past and we went to go do our free photo op with them in February. This past week they had the sip and shop over the weekend. You collect stamps around Kailua town (a lanyard is provided) and you can win a $500 gift card for completion. You can get a bunch of freebies with the lanyard too! There was mocktails, a lot of drinks, cotton candy, and shave ice! The Lei bus was also there again too for the cute photo op. it was really busy at this event since the farmers market was also happening that night, so parking was a little limited compared to other days.

They utilize the parking lots throughout the entire center to spread out the kiosks and it keeps the flow moving around instead of blocking any business. L & L Hawaiian Barbecue is a tried and true place for plate lunches and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh and hot - and as a former resident of Oahu, mac salad and rice is a treat. For a burger rush, we ate the Mahaloha burger - certified Angus beef and again, it was hot and delicious. Their fries were great as well. My brother-in-law asked about a malasadas and told him that it is more or less a doughnut but was brought to Hawaii by the Portuguese who came to work the fields back a hundred or so years ago. It's sold all over the islands now. When I lived here in the '70's, a food truck parked itself in a parking lot and people lined up to buy it. When they ran out, that was it until the next time and it was not everyday. Penny's malasadas was good and delicious. It was hot and sooo ono, as we say it in the islands! There's a price to pay for the delicious food though - and it's not cheap! So go try, yeah!
