Palm trees outdoor bar with a yummy piña colada that's perfect on a hot day! Love their outdoor bar & margaritas here too!

Well I finally got to this wonderful establishment to check it out while here beaching it at Sound View. It gives you vibes like your on the islands on vacation. It has palm trees, loungers w umbrellas, cabana rentals but alittle to pricey $200. The location is perfect on the beach. Totally right next to the Pavilion. You can purchase food and drinks of your choice. Also they have the real pineapple or coconut $15 upcjsrcd ans get any drink of your choice for put in it for the he cost of the drink. Had rhe pins colada and buffalo chicken wrap which as very delicious. Also there is a surcharge of 20% added flat your bill even just to have a drink while summing on the loungers. It's definitely worth coming down to visit the next time you're in the area for the beach. Cool little place. Love it

Today my friends and I checked out Kokomo's for the first time in Old Lyme. It's right on the beach and the vibes are amazing! We got lounge chairs looking right out to the water and had such easy access when we wanted to take a dip in the water. In addition our service was wonderful! Rosalyn, our server, was so attentive the entire time we were there. I ordered the lobster roll and fries which were amazing and also the watermelon frozen margarita, which was very yummy ! I highly recommend Kokomo's for a wonderful day at the beach and great food!

Hornets that were flying around the entire dining area

HORRIBLE. Lots of yellow jackets/hornets were flying at the tables making the atmosphere unenjoyable. Food was trash and bland. Lobster sliders literally tasted like dry rubber and bread. Pina coladas tasted bland and I questioned if they even added alcohol. Hand helds like the burger and chicken sandwich has no flavor and were dry. The fried chicken sandwich tasted like oil they fried the chicken in so did the fries. Service sucked. We were never even brought waters nor did our server attend to us other than to take order and deliver food. It's a bummer the location is awesome but the execution is abysmal. Here is a picture of all the hornets I was able to swat while trying to make the most of being at this establishment. Also can't order sides al la cart which is dumb. A side Mac and cheese 6$ but order it ala cart same size it costs 11$ In summary AVOID THIS PLACE

I cannot say enough amazing things about this restaurant!! We had a party of 6 come here for my sisters bachelorette weekend and we were so accommodated by the manager, Kelly who was so lovely. We got right in on a Saturday afternoon and sat at a fire pit seat with the ADK chairs with a beautiful view of the ocean. The vibe here is 100%. Just so on point! The manager came up to us and kindly explained how the QR menu system works and it was flawless. We ordered our drinks and food through it and it was all promptly delivered. The staff/servers are constantly walking around so if we needed something from someone we could grab anyone passing by. The tables and chairs are literally in the sand on the beach so you can order your food and drinks and while your waiting you can dip in the water! The drinks were SO good and the food was delicious! We had also asked for an off item menu and Kelly surprised us at the table with it!! She was so personable and friendly. Thank you to her and the chefs! I can't recommend this spot enough. It is WORTH IT to come here.

Beautiful spot, but food could use some help. My New England Clam Chowder was a bowl of mush. Nothing soupy about it. It was also spicy. I sent it back. Lobster Mac and cheese was pretty good, besides the spicy red pepper flakes. Not sure why they're making all of these typically non-spicy foods spicy and then especially not writing it in the menu. Husband's fish and chips was the best dish we all got. Fries were good. My son said he didn't like his hot dog, so didn't eat it. Also, they automatically add 20% to the bill. They do less than most waitresses as they don't even take your order themselves. They give you a QR code to scan and they you also pay it on your phone. Then you're made to tip 20% no matter what. Meh. Probably won't be back.

Came here last Fall, while they had the Fall Cabanas, which were so cool! I've never eaten in an igloo/cabana before. The restaurant is located on the beach down a side street. It was really quiet and aside from the 2 other couples in the cabanas the place was empty. I believe because it was an off time of year, I hear it's great in the summertime. The waitress was attentive and they had some fall festive food specials on their menu. The food was good and it was definitely an Instagramable experience (being in the igloo). I will be venturing there on a summer day!

I have struggled with whether to write this review because this has become one of our favorite…read morelocal restaurants over the last year. In fact, one of the reasons we kept coming back was because this was one of the very few local restaurants that I believed truly understood celiac disease and took gluten-free dining seriously. However, as someone with celiac disease, I feel a responsibility to share my experience because what I have encountered goes far beyond a one-time mistake. Several months ago, we ordered takeout and I tested three separate items that were represented as gluten-free: tacos, a wedge salad, and a pop tart dessert. Most was already naturally gluten free. All three tested positive for gluten. These tests are not cheap, costing approximately $12 each, so this was not something I did lightly. I contacted the restaurant and spoke directly with the head chef. She was professional, understanding, and seemed genuinely concerned. She thanked me for bringing it to her attention and even mentioned that she planned to order a test herself because she could not understand how those items would contain gluten. Because of that conversation, I chose not to leave a review. I genuinely believed the issue would be investigated and corrected, and I wanted to give the restaurant the opportunity to make things right. Unfortunately, a later visit resulted in a positive gluten test on the smoked fish appetizer. Most recently, I returned again and tested several items. The calamari tested negative, but my gluten-free tacos once again tested positive for gluten. At this point, I have simply been glutened one too many times by a restaurant that I genuinely wanted to trust. What makes this especially difficult is that this restaurant presents itself as understanding celiac disease. I was told that members of the restaurant's family, including a daughter, have celiac disease. Hearing that gave me confidence that gluten-free orders would be taken seriously and that proper precautions would be in place. That is what makes these repeated positive gluten tests so confusing and disappointing. When a restaurant claims to understand celiac disease, I expect more than simply offering gluten-free menu items. I expect systems that actually prevent gluten contamination. After multiple positive gluten tests across multiple visits and after bringing my concerns directly to management months ago, it is difficult for me to reconcile those claims with my actual experiences. During my most recent visit, the waitress was kind and helpful, and I appreciate the way she handled the situation. However, I was told that a manager would come speak with me, and no manager ever did. My tacos were removed because they tested positive for gluten, yet I was still charged for them after deciding to take them home (for my non celiac hubby) rather than have them thrown away. In the end, I received a discount, but only after spending nearly $50 on gluten tests during that visit alone. As I write this, I am sitting here sad, frustrated, and in pain, knowing exactly what the next couple of weeks are likely going to look like for me. People often do not see what happens after someone with celiac disease is exposed to gluten. We do not go into anaphylaxis in the restaurant. We go home and suffer through the consequences alone. The symptoms may not be immediately visible to others, but the physical toll is very real. Every restaurant can make a mistake. My concern is not a single mistake. My concern is a repeated pattern over multiple visits, over several months, after the issue was brought directly to the restaurant's attention. I truly wanted to continue supporting this restaurant. I truly wanted to be able to recommend it to others in the celiac community. Unfortunately, after repeated positive gluten tests, repeated gluten exposures, and no evidence that the underlying problem has been corrected, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone with celiac disease or anyone who requires a truly gluten-free meal for medical reasons.

Fortunately, we were seated quickly. Service was excellent, and the vibrant, modern atmosphere felt trendy yet comfortable. Noise levels were pretty manageable, even as the dining room filled up. I had the buttermilk fried chicken taco, which had great texture and crunch--just a touch more seasoning would've really made it shine. The pork belly taco was melt-in-your-mouth tender with rich flavor, though the celery and apple slaw on top didn't quite hold up--it looked great but lacked the apple part and was dry. Next time, I think I'd try one of the other interesting tacos instead. For my main dish, I had the cilantro pesto chicken burrito with rice and beans--delicious, generously filled, and perfectly seasoned. My girlfriend had the mushroom enchiladas, which were hearty and earthy, though a bit more seasoning could have brought out the full potential of the dish, as it seemed like it was just unseasoned mushrooms in a tortilla. Overall, Sayulita remains a solid choice with consistently good food, friendly service, and a lively vibe. A reservation option would make it even better--but until then, arriving early is the way to go!

So, since the Old Saybrook location closed, we set our sights on visiting the Niantic location, looking forward to what we missed so much. Sadly, this was one of the worst experiences we have had! Our order consisted of a kid's hot dog platter, an adult hot dog, side of onion rings, 2 small coleslaws and a side of clam strips. Let's begin with the hot dogs...Both the kids and adult hot dogs were the same size in different buns. The adult in a foot long bun and the kids in a regular bun. Again, same size hot dog inside. Moving on to the onion rings...for $7.00, I counted 19 shoestring onion rings. Not a nice pile, but flatly 19 and shoestring ones are incredibly deliciously thin. The kids platter arrived with just the hot dog on it. No fries. When I went back, I was told it did not come with fries. I disagreed and after some time, curly fries were placed next to the hot dog. I asked about regular fries and I was told that they did not carry regular ones. The nice boy behind this all stated that they did and it was corrected. Hot dog was now ice cold. My side of clam strips for $14 consisted of maybe a cup of clams. Sad portion! We ate what we could shaking our heads in disappointment. So sad our expectations were dashed! When we left, it was decided that a short walk (and I mean short because my mother can't balance for long) might be nice in order to forget the fiasco at the restaurant. As soon as we stepped away from the car, we were chased by their parking guard who said that we could no longer park there if we left the car. I explained that we had just spent almost $70 in their establishment and would be taking a short walk. She continued to chase us. We kept walking. Our walk took approximately 7 minutes. Upon our return, the man parked next to us entered his car with 2 bags and coffees from Sift Bakery. Obviously NOT a Skippers customer, yet he was not chased! So, sadly, we will NEVER again be visiting Skippers in Niantic. Johnny Ad's is meh, but this was way worse. I hope that they can fix things so that others can still enjoy eating there.
