I made reservations in advance to guarantee a table outside on the beach. I'm traveling a hour to eat on the beach after all. Making the reservation over the phone was easy and the individual I spoke to answered my questions and was very polite and pleasant. One of my questions was what happens if it we're to rain. I was told that I would not lose my reservation and that they would move us inside the covered patio. Fast forward: we parked in the Kokomo parking lot, handed our key over to the valet then walked steps to be seated. We did not wait long at all before we were greeted and seated. Here's where things got tricky. We were given instructions to scan a unique QR code that they provide and then we create an account, view the menu online then order our food and beverages. We were told that there would not be a wait staff taking our order. Sadly, many of the menu items were "sold out". I eat gluten free foods only so this proved a bit of a challenge. I thought I had placed our order but after waiting nearly an hour I asked a waitstaff to check my phone to see if I had placed the order correctly. I had not, however, the food arrived quickly once the order actually went through. My seared cod was cooked perfectly as were the asparagus and rice but sadly there was an over use of cayenne pepper which hyjacked the authentic taste of the cod and asparagus. We did not order dessert even though we would have loved to but it's difficult to order something that is not available. The view and atmosphere of the beach made up for the mishaps. The Resturant's beach, although fenced, seemed to attract beach goers to pass through which meant while eating dinner I had the pleasure to also watch nearly naked people walk by me... I mean bikini top that only covered a woman's nips. I kid you not. Awkward much? Not so much for me but perhaps for others. The valet had gone missing when we went to get out car fab to leave. So we waited patiently for about 10 to 15 minutes for him to appear on a golf cart before we walked steps to our car. I would recommend Kokomo Restaurant for the experience of dinning on the beach in CT but that's about it. This restaurant has great potentia! Do better Kokomo! I'm rooting for you! read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! A group of 4 of us waited for a literal 2.5 hours from the time of ordering before we decided to finally leave. Two times our meals (and the appetizers) was given away to the wrong table. it took nearly an hour upon arrival to get the first drinks. every little detail in addition to the big ones was wrong. asking for straws (mixed drinks were missing them) led to being brought too few. drinks barely had alcohol if any at all (this problem is a theme if you look at enough reviews). throughout the time we waited, numerous people from various tables continued to leave due to lack of food showing up. we overheard a number of people complaining about no food coming. people complaining about prices ($23 for a burger). we finally just paid for what we had and told them to cancel the rest of the order. somehow it still costs $118 for 4 mixed drinks, 2 mixed drinks that were half a normal drink, and a single beer. please save yourself the trouble and don't go here. read more

Well I finally got to this wonderful establishment to check it out while here beaching it at Sound View. It gives you vibes like your on the islands on vacation. It has palm trees, loungers w umbrellas, cabana rentals but alittle to pricey $200. The location is perfect on the beach. Totally right next to the Pavilion. You can purchase food and drinks of your choice. Also they have the real pineapple or coconut $15 upcjsrcd ans get any drink of your choice for put in it for the he cost of the drink. Had rhe pins colada and buffalo chicken wrap which as very delicious. Also there is a surcharge of 20% added flat your bill even just to have a drink while summing on the loungers. Today my friends and I checked out Kokomo's for the first time in Old Lyme. It's right on the beach and the vibes are amazing! We got lounge chairs looking right out to the water and had such easy access when we wanted to take a dip in the water. In addition our service was wonderful! Rosalyn, our server, was so attentive the entire time we were there. I ordered the lobster roll and fries which were amazing and also the watermelon frozen margarita, which was very yummy ! I highly recommend Kokomo's for a wonderful day at the beach and great food! read more

HORRIBLE. Lots of yellow jackets/hornets were flying at the tables making the atmosphere unenjoyable. Food was trash and bland. Lobster sliders literally tasted like dry rubber and bread. Pina coladas tasted bland and I questioned if they even added alcohol. Hand helds like the burger and chicken sandwich has no flavor and were dry. The fried chicken sandwich tasted like oil they fried the chicken in so did the fries. Service sucked. We were never even brought waters nor did our server attend to us other than to take order and deliver food. It's a bummer the location is awesome but the execution is abysmal. Disappointed!! We will definitely not be returning. We drove almost an hour, because of the multiple false videos I saw and false reviews I read. What bothered me the most of the experience was the pre-packaged frozen, over fried seafood dishes we ordered with pre packaged sauces. This is beach front property!! I cannot say enough amazing things about this restaurant!! We had a party of 6 come here for my sisters bachelorette weekend and we were so accommodated by the manager, Kelly who was so lovely. We got right in on a Saturday afternoon and sat at a fire pit seat with the ADK chairs with a beautiful view of the ocean. The vibe here is 100%. Just so on point! The manager came up to us and kindly explained how the QR menu system works and it was flawless. We ordered our drinks and food through it and it was all promptly delivered. The staff/servers are constantly walking around so if we needed something from someone we could grab anyone passing by. The tables and chairs are literally in the sand on the beach so you can order your food and drinks and while your waiting you can dip in the water! The drinks were SO good and the food was delicious! We had also asked for an off item menu and Kelly surprised us at the table with it!! She was so personable and friendly. Thank you to her and the chefs! I can't recommend this spot enough. Absolute horrid. Servers were inattentive, drinks took 30 minutes to come out, food took over an hour and was some of the worst seafood I've had. It was both somehow over cooked and under cooked at the same time. At the very least if you are spending $30+ per plate you would expect house made tartar sauce and cocktail sauce.... NOT this place. Lobster Mac and cheese was pretty good, besides the spicy red pepper flakes. Not sure why they're making all of these typically non-spicy foods spicy and then especially not writing it in the menu. Husband's fish and chips was the best dish we all got. Fries were good. My son said he didn't like his hot dog, so didn't eat it. Also, they automatically add 20% to the bill. Came here last Fall, while they had the Fall Cabanas, which were so cool! I've never eaten in an igloo/cabana before. The restaurant is located on the beach down a side street. It was really quiet and aside from the 2 other couples in the cabanas the place was empty. I believe because it was an off time of year, I hear it's great in the summertime. The waitress was attentive and they had some fall festive food specials on their menu. The food was good and it was definitely an Instagramable experience (being in the igloo). The worst experience/meal my family has had, possibly ever. The hostess was unsure she could seat us when the restaurant was empty and there were open table reservations available. She wanted to seat us at the bar- which normally we love but this bar was not serviced and used as a dump spot for employee drinks/trash, gross. You have to order your food online, but nobody came to offer water for the table, and beer bottles were brought without offering a glass. For a full service restaurant on the beach with menu prices like theirs, it's shocking they don't wait on you and take your order like a classic restaurant. Now to the food. The fish and chips was extremely overpriced for 1 piece of small fish that had way too much batter on it. It was unable to be cut with a fork- strange. So I cut it open with a butter knife but struggled. Inside was a disgusting piece of fish that was grey and had a ton of cartilage maybe bone running through it. The waitress was nice and got the manager but the manager said "fish and chips- not your thing?" And never apologized. I always order fish and chips so it is my thing, this was just foul. She reluctantly said she'd take it off the bill. The other people in our party got the burger. It was like a hockey puck- black and dry. And the lettuce and tomato were like the size of a slider and were soggy and rotten. We had the empanadas as an appetizer which tasted like they were frozen out of a box, they tasted horrible. These and the French fries all had a very concerning looking drizzle of sauce which was like congealed thick mayonnaise. The fries were hot and crispy, I'll give them that. Overpriced and they auto enter a 20% tip. We would have been better off at literally any other fast food joint. Such a shame- this could be THE spot if they improved it! Really nice spot beachwise. Was quiet for a Friday afternoon. Drinks were not good. I got $15 mojito and it was syrupy sweet. My reservation was for 11am and I waited 45 min for my umbrella which I had reserved online. I was told the staff wasn't there yet to set it up. I reserved Chair #1 but there was already someone in it and they clearly hadn't checked in as they didn't have a orange wristband. I hate to say I went to Kokomo's last Saturday evening and was very disappointed by the food. The view is pretty- love a spot on the water. Staff was friendly- no problem there. But the food was just not good. My husband ordered fish and chips that looked like pre shaped Long John Silvers fish and it was just Uber $30!!!!! He said it was awful. Fries are basic at best. My chicken sandwich was fine but nothing to write home about. I really want a place on the water in OL to be great or at least good but it wasn't. All drinks & food are ordered online and then someone brings it to your table. It's a little tough to navigate and would be awkward with a bunch of people. They have 3 Cabana's that can be rented for the day. Awful idea- When we went there were 2 families with a ton of kids. Kids were running, screaming, playing, etc. and 2 adults then got into a fight. Staff had to break it up. Not what you want when you're drinking & eating out. Lose the cabana's and make it a 21 + over place. Food is nothing to brag about. Drinks are very VERY watered down. Came in with a simple desire: to have some expensive ($24.99) fish and chips that I hoped would live up to the price. We arrived and the guy at the bar took our order and handed up two bottled waters. He asked if we'd like to sit in or outside, so all things being equal, we figured outside on the beach might be nice and went to sit down. The fish and chips were good enough but not worth the price - they were two thin pieces of fried fish with fries and a packaged container of tartar sauce. After we finished our food, we sat and sat. No one came to check on us. We could easily have just wandered away, but I went in to pay. When I did, I was given a bill that was $10 more than the $25 I paid for the food. When I asked why, I was told that there's an extra charge to sit on the beach. When I pointed out that I would have appreciated being told that so I could have decided whether to not to pay that charge, there was no attempt to make it right. Just the equivalent of a shrug. I understand now why there's an automatic tip: with nonexistent service, there's no incentive to tip. I certainly wouldn't have tipped 20%. read more

We were sad that there was no open table for toes-in-the-sand dining, but we ate under the covered outdoor bar area which was nice too. The view was awesome and we loved the vibe with the palm trees! My friend loved her short rib tacos and the cocktail of the day, which was called the ocean breeze. It was cool that they gave a souvenir glass too! I liked my lobster bisque but could've done without the micro greens on top. I saw a lot of things on the menu that I wanted to try, so next time I'm coming with a bigger appetite! On the plus side, the location on the beach is great. Food is meh. Not worth the price but you're paying for the location. On the minus side, the service and dining experience is nearly nonexistent. You are forced to scan a code and order online. Have a question for your server? Forget it! You don't have one. The food and drinks were dumped on the table with no ceremony. No one checked if we needed anything. I ordered my burger pink and it was overly well done. I mentioned this to the manager who paid lip service but you could tell she didn't care. The kicker for poor food and nonexistent waitstaff is a mandatory service charge of 20%. I would have tipped 10% if i could for this level of being ignored. I could have ordered to-go and eaten on the public beach and at least I wouldn't have felt like i was getting screwed. As a resident of town, we were super excited for this restaurant. Had lunch here last month and tonight decided to try dinner. The location is great. Love being on the beach. The food was okay for lunch, had burger and fries. Tonight for dinner, our party was pretty pleased with dinner, but portions was small, esp the Cod. In addition, no free table water????? Instead changes for Voss water... I had the pina colada tonight and it was mostly foam for $10. Another person in party had a Tito's drink, which according to the table signage was half price on Friday's, however when we asked the server, she said it was only after 9pm...this was not posted on the signage for the advertisement (picture below). the Customer service is terrible. first time I went it took a while (10-15 mins) to be seated on the chair rentals. also rented an umbrella and it was never brought out to us after asking at least twice. We just burned in the sun. the food was good (only tried the lobster roll) but pricey. We decided to give it a second chance and this time rented a cabana. called to inquire about raining days and how it works. it was impossible to reach a live person. After several phone calls finally reached a live person, but only to be greeted with rudeness and condescending tone. I was told I was wasting their time on the phone. The server I spoke with refused to give me their Name and ultimately lied and said it was Peter. found the experience strange. As a paying customer you'd think you'd be treated with some decency. I guess that's not the norm anymore. the beach itself is pretty. I did notice some waves and it was a bit rocky. The restaurant directly next to us was pretty noisy with a large crowd, but it didn't bother us. Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and wow! The view from Kokomo's is unmatched! You sit right on the beach with your feet in the sand with the ocean right in front of you. This is one of my favorite restaurant views in all of ct. the food here was also good, the Bahamian Conch Fritters were just ok but I would definitely eat here again and try a different appetizer. Kokomo's has also just rolled out a ton of new items including their wine, beer and martini flights. These look amazing and I can't wait to try! read more

Definitely an overrated place to eat- this place is beautiful and you definitely don't feel like you're in CT with the beach and palm trees, but the location and decor is all this place has going for them. Overpriced is an understatement. We got the ceviche which was $14 and 1/4 of a cup of not-shrimp nor traditional ceviche ingredients. I spent $16 on a small bowl of romaine lettuce with a slice of tomato a tablespoon of guacamole and 1 oz of grilled chicken all of which were room temperature/warm which means it was bad, I asked for lobster meat on it so it ended up being $30 for a salad that was not worth it- the lobster meat was room temp and not good. Of you charge $28 for a lobster roll at least make things fancy and don't make ppl thinking they're eating at a food truck. The only thing that was appetizing were the fries. served with ketchup packets. This $80 meal was so overpriced I would highly advise against eating here for a quality meal.
