Marker 37 is a hidden Chester gem! Right on the marina, the water and boat views were beautiful. We headed there for a late dinner and it was perfect at sunset and was able to take some great pictures. Inside they had a live band with music which I thought was lovely but we decided to sit outdoors for the views instead. We sat down to and i started with the watermelon spritz to drink and it was refreshing and so pretty! It came with a flower on top and it tasted like summer in a glass. Since it was late I wanted something light to eat and found the scallops and succotash. They were absolutely exactly what I was looking for. The waitress was so kind and checked in multiple times during our dining experience. There was corn-hole and games along the water and extra picnic tables where you could extend your stay a while. The whole evening was so relaxing and I didn't feel rushed. But to be honest, The only thing that rushed us out was the beetles that came later at night, lol so just something to think about when eating outside by the water. Other than that, the evening was just what a summer night should be!

Mixed feelings... I was so incredibly excited to try this place that had been on my list for a year. I was seated on the patio with INCREDIBLE views all around me at 6:15. And then waited...20 minutes.... Nobody had greeted me at my table so I got up and went to the hostess stand (which I feel is absurd but whatever) and kindly said I wanted to check in with her because nobody has stopped by our table and it's been 20 minutes. She said she'd take care of it so I went back to my seat. Shortly after someone stopped by and we said we'd like to start with water and the calamari for now. Calamari came out like 10 minutes later. Still no water on the table as I'm eating fried hot peppers with my calamari app. At this point I want to order a cocktail and food and our waitress is nowhere to be found. Finally around 7 (45 minutes after arrival) our waitress came back and asked if we wanted to order. I asked if there was a backup in the kitchen or what was going on because we still hadn't gotten even water at this point. I was told things were backed up and everyone had come at once. We didn't feel confident we'd get drinks or food anytime soon so I politely said we understand but I think we're going to grab the check. After another 15 minutes of waiting for the check (which never came) and she never came back, we left cash under a plate at 7:15 (an hour after we arrived) and walked out. I have never in 30 years just had to walk out of. a place. Luckily there's a whole downtown of restaurants that will serve you quickly in Chester. In summary I'd say views are spectacular, calamari was good. If they could get it together this would be a top tier, unmissable restaurant in CT.

We went to lunch on Marker 37 for my husband's birthday. It wasn't a perfectly sunny day, but it was warm and a really nice day to be outside. The patio ar Marker 37 is covered, and has a nice view of the river, and the boats coming in and out of the marinas. The food was great, but our service was very slow!! My husband asked for "2 more minutes" to review the menu to order, and our server didn't come back for probably 25 minutes. It was busy, but not that busy. She was checking in on her other tables and then walking away without coming over or making eye contact with us. It was so bad that we almost went back to the hostess to ask to move to a different server's section! But, she ultimately figured it out. The side salad portions were sizeable for $8. I got the Mediterranean summer salad, which was great and loaded with yummy toppings like hummus, artichokes, tabbouleh, feta, and Kalamata olives. My husband got a Caesar salad and was happy with it as well. My tuna tacos were tasty, two was a sufficient portion especially with the tortilla chips on the side. My husband's lobster Mac and cheese was large, the Mac and cheese was creamy and good, and a decent amount of lobster. I'm glad, since I later found out MP was $42 lol. It was worth it for what he got. We were going out again later, so didn't have dessert. We will definitely go back again to try more of their dishes. Definitely call to make a reservation as it was pretty busy even on a cloudy Wednesday at lunch. Once the nicer weather is here, I'm sure it will be packed every day.

TLDR; Beautiful location, great service, great cocktails, decent food. It was a nice day so we took a drive to find somewhere nice to grab a drink and some food. My friends and I had never heard of this spot but it checked the boxes for what we were looking for. They have a large outdoor seating area including some couch areas. Apparently these are a separate service from the regular tables. Because there were only two servers for the entire restaurant they said could not provide service for the area but we were welcome to sit there and order at the bar - so that's what we did. The house old fashioned is delicious! It has a nice oaky flavor and lasting cherry sweetness ( not too sweet! ). The bourbon smash was good too but the OF was better imo. We ordered calamari to snack on because we decided to go elsewhere for dinner. It was fine. Small portion, a little chewy and it seemed like it is not made fresh there. Ended up hanging at the bar and even tho the bartender (Alex) was swamped he still carried conversation with us, shared some laughs and made us feel welcome. Overall we had a great time. I can definitely see us coming back here to grab some drinks enjoy the views.

Second time here to see if the first time was representative. Excellent short rib grilled cheese. Calamari is fresh and definitely not from Sysco! Service was prompt and personable. And the location is outstanding. Definitely on our short list of places to revisit.

e was an adorable waitress and the fish and chips were literally the best my husband has ever had. It was a whole fish, very fresh and fried in a very tasty crust. You can't beat the outdoor patio with the view of the water and gentle breeze.Unfortunately the pork taco proved inedible . Besides being very fatty, the meat seemed to be sprouting hair! It was disgusting. The restaurant still gets 4 stars as they took the $18.00 off the bill and apologized profusely. I encourage people to come to this spot, but don't order the pork taco!

Honest mistake of wrong menu being given, but it helps for customers to know what ingredients are in things like that when dealing with food sensitivities. The server never checked in to ask how the meal was/if I needed anything. I was a server for over 10 years and I know that's the first things I do after dropping off someone's food to ensure everything is good. There was food left on my plate, fries. I am absolutely obsessed with everything here. I made reservations for 5:45 pm on a Monday night…read more We actually came a little before 5:15 pm, because I was absolutely starving, and they were so kind/accommodating. They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Parking is pretty difficult around here. I would probably just Uber if I was coming here on a weekend. I need to come here for breakfast at some point.

I really didn't want to write this review, but potential patrons should know what they can expect…read morewhen working with the event staff at Shipwright's Daughter - if they plan to have a private dining experience and event there. My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Both were very tasty expressions of the season. Our table raved over the tagliarini with a local beef, pork and veg ragu and a shellfish version with a spicy puttanesca. The menu changes regularly to highlight the best of the season and local producers. Sometimes it's nice to eat delicious food with no blasting music, at reasonable prices (app/salads: $12-16, most entrees high 20's to $36) just hanging with happy well fed adults enjoying conversation. It would have been 5 stars but for the forgetting of complimentary bread service until we asked for it during the entrees. The bread was mediocre and chewy. We were ready to order for 10 minutes and she still hadn't checked in with us. I told another employee that we wanted to see our server. She shook her head and we waited another 5 minutes. We finally were able to order. Then people who arrived after us, and ordered after us, received food first. Multiple tables. Through multiple service issues, there was no recognition from the employees about the issues. Our primary server asked how things were going when she first checked in with us. I told her the truth. And she didn't seem like she cared. She was apparently hoping that I would just say "good". The food was mixed. My son and I split a burger and an order of chilaquiles. The chilaquiles was good. The burger was medium rare rather than the medium we asked for. The burger was underseasoned. It may not have been seasoned at all. The bottom part of the bun was cut at a weird angle. As the juices flowed from the burger, it soaked the short side of the burger bun so that it was unusable. My Dad said his salad featuring peaches and nuts, barely had any peaches or nuts. What began as a tiny oyster shack quickly became a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, introducing countless people to the art of shucking and enjoying fresh local oysters. Over the years, a loyal community formed around their welcoming, family-like atmosphere and genuine "come as you are" attitude. The memories made there--and the children who grew up with this beloved seaside fixture as part of their lives--are truly impossible to quantify. Fortunately for all of us, Little Creek Oysters embarked on a new home that allowed them to continue their vision while expanding it in exciting ways. Their new location at 211 Carpenter Street offers an inventive menu, an exceptional selection of local seafood, and a beautifully curated modern-rustic seafaring aesthetic that feels both fresh and authentically North Fork. Today, guests can enjoy the experience across two floors, plus an inviting outdoor patio complete with fire pits, good company, and the unmistakable charm that made Little Creek special from the very beginning. No visit to Greenport is complete without rubbing elbows with local fishermen, residents, and visitors while enjoying some of the finest local oysters around. Little Creek Oysters captures the spirit of this waterfront village better than just about anywhere else--and that's what makes it such a special place.

From the variety of oysters to the delicious crudo and ceviche, chill waitstaff and generally good vibe. I could go there every night. Hot dogs are good, too, though - no offense, but as good as they are, seafood is the reason for coming. By the way, I also had a great na Paloma- details matter and paying attention to the na folks matters (thank you, Little Creek).

Cheese and bread were good! I asked if they add a tomato soup or something to go alongside it and they said they didn't however they threw in a free side of lobster bisque to dip the grilled cheese in! That lobster bisque was very creamy and paired really well with the sandwich. Afterwards they even threw in a free chocolate ice cream when we finished! That was the S tier customer service and easily gets me to be a repeat customer! Definitely worth checking this spot out. Food(50%): 9.2 Staff/service(25%): 10.0 Value(25%): 8.0 Overall: 9.1/10

Oh how we missed Skippers in Old Saybrook, CT!! We even placed it better than Johnny Ad's, a viable…read morecompetitor. So, since the Old Saybrook location closed, we set our sights on visiting the Niantic location, looking forward to what we missed so much. Sadly, this was one of the worst experiences we have had! Our order consisted of a kid's hot dog platter, an adult hot dog, side of onion rings, 2 small coleslaws and a side of clam strips. Let's begin with the hot dogs...Both the kids and adult hot dogs were the same size in different buns. The adult in a foot long bun and the kids in a regular bun. Again, same size hot dog inside. Moving on to the onion rings...for $7.00, I counted 19 shoestring onion rings. Not a nice pile, but flatly 19 and shoestring ones are incredibly deliciously thin. The kids platter arrived with just the hot dog on it. No fries. When I went back, I was told it did not come with fries. I disagreed and after some time, curly fries were placed next to the hot dog. I asked about regular fries and I was told that they did not carry regular ones. The nice boy behind this all stated that they did and it was corrected. Hot dog was now ice cold. My side of clam strips for $14 consisted of maybe a cup of clams. Sad portion! We ate what we could shaking our heads in disappointment. So sad our expectations were dashed! When we left, it was decided that a short walk (and I mean short because my mother can't balance for long) might be nice in order to forget the fiasco at the restaurant. As soon as we stepped away from the car, we were chased by their parking guard who said that we could no longer park there if we left the car. I explained that we had just spent almost $70 in their establishment and would be taking a short walk. She continued to chase us. We kept walking. Our walk took approximately 7 minutes. Upon our return, the man parked next to us entered his car with 2 bags and coffees from Sift Bakery. Obviously NOT a Skippers customer, yet he was not chased! So, sadly, we will NEVER again be visiting Skippers in Niantic. Johnny Ad's is meh, but this was way worse. I hope that they can fix things so that others can still enjoy eating there.
