My auntie from England was visiting and staying at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort, so we decided to dine her for a Sunday breakfast. Sunday Breakfast Buffet: Pros + Great selection of food that was kept at good temperatures (common buffet concern) + Omelettes made to order and can get eggs to order as well + Coffee carafe left to refill coffee to avoid running out until you consume the whole thing + Stunning golf course views + Slow in July, so a quiet atmosphere for the family to catch up Cons - Parking is hard to find on a Sunday at 9am, likely lots of golfers - Slow in July, so have to wait for staff to notice you to be seated and to be served at the omelette station - Room temperature was warm, but could be due to 84° + 60% humidity Overall, we enjoyed the breakfast and always love an omelette station. Additionally, here is a dinner review as we returned to try dinner later that week. When we entered, we were shocked to see the same server who recognized us. Great to have a friendly face to start our Friday evening catching up with family over a martini, or in my case two. What We Ordered (pictured): - Dirty Vodka Martini: loved all the options for vodka and really enjoyed with Belvedere. - Fish & Chips Friday Special: I tried a piece and a little too breaded for my taste, but my dad throughly enjoyed. He said he'd return again as two large pieces and $14.99 was an excellent price point. - Crispy Wings: My mom said these were okay, but nothing special as she prefers ATL Wings. - Onion Rings: Both my auntie and mom raved about these, and were the highlight of the meal for them. - New Orleans Salmon: A bit pricey, but I enjoyed the burre blanc sauce with the shrimp. Very delicious and great sides served alongside. Not sure a do over for the price point ($35), but very delicious for likely frozen fish. The food was delicious. We had the mahi mahi fish tacos and lunch special 1/2 sandwich and salad. The mahi was charred on an open flame. The bacon was nice and crispy and the tomato slice was thick .The service was fast. There is a nice view of the mountain on one side or the v golf won the other. I'm sure it is gorgeous at sunset. Been at this establishment many times since 2013, I thought it's overdue for a review. This visit a few days ago was with three friends. The view is like none other. Never fails to impress and the entrance to the Golf Course and this establishment has a lot of laid back Arizona character. Unfortunately this visit was during a very busy time with live music on the outdoor patio so the kitchen was slow but our waiter, Andrew, was unfailingly polite and extremely apologetic. The food pictures were an afterthought as we had waited quite a while for our orders and couldn't wait to dig in! We ordered the Crispy Coconut Shrimp which we had before and it never fails to please. Delicious. The Artichoke and Spinach Dip with Deep Fried Pita Bread was also a winner. The Caprese Salad was perfect and we opted for the night's special which was perfectly cooked prime rib with a melody of vegetables and mashed potatoes. My wife and I went on Valentine's Day and I can understand that things may not run smoothly but it wasn't busy enough to excuse how poorly it went. We sat down and we didn't see a waiter until 20 minutes which he then finally came and brought us waters. We then placed our order which the food did come out fast but the food was so mid. I got the chef choice steak and it was so disappointing I've had better steak and less expensive restaurant it was 29 for that steak. It truthfully was not that busy we barely saw our waiter he never came back to refill our drinks and it was really disappointing especially on Valentine's Day. I work in the food industry so I'm Pretty understanding so the level of poor service and food to make me download yelp and write a review says something. If I had spent more than $100 I would have talked to a manger. I spent $74 before tip and I felt pressure to tip because when i was paying he gave me this machine and stood right next to me and I didn't wanna be rude and give him less then 18% but he didn't deserve it won't be coming bad here read more

As a resident of Gold Canyon I've been wanting to try dinner at Kokopelli's. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. We went with another couple and thought it would be a fun evening out. They had the fajita special, you could get better at a Taco Bell! I had one of their salads, it was basically a large bowl of dry salad greens with a couple slices of beets, a few pecans and a barely there sprinkle of goat cheese. For $19 I'd expect much more than greens! Then there was our waitress, Mariana. I'm not sure what her attitude problem was but she had no reason to take it out on us. She never came back to see if things were ok and never asked if we wanted another drink or anything else before rudely dropping off our checks. Food is just mainly 'Meh' for the price. There are great views but nothing of real interest on the menu.

Of course it's a little pricy.. but you know that when you go eat at a golf resort. My husband and I enjoy it as a date night or even for a family lunch or dinner. Do keep in mind our two and half year old is very well behaved. So we don't worry about taking him anywhere. He loves the giant T-Rex metal statue. For what it was, it was severely overpriced $200 for 4 people is a little extreme when we didn't even order steak. We had a pizza, a salad, a burger and pasta. 4 alcoholic beverages and 1 appetizer. The dining area was great. The view was great. Service was good, server was great. My salad was tiny and had 4 pieces of steak that we paid $11 extra dollars for. Not worth it. My full sized salad was as big as my husbands side salad. So unimpressed. read more

I visit the area every 2-3 months, and always stop in for dinner. I love the patio, the views, and although some dishes have been better than others, I have never been disappointed. The service is friendly and the other patrons all seem to be enjoying themselves. The food and atmosphere here was better than I expected given our experience with the resort. The coolest part is that there are three separate restaurant areas, each with a completely different ambiance/vibe, but all the food served is the same. You have the classier indoor restaurant, the outdoor patio with lots of umbrellas, and the indoor lounge area connected to the golf shop. All three areas look out in the golf course. Our server was friendly and helpful with questions on the menu and drinks. Food was pretty tasty too with the exception of one somewhat comical incident. My chicken quesadilla came out looking pretty damn loaded and fabulous. I picked it up, took a bite, and realized something was off. They had burned one side of the quesadilla and instead of trashing it, they just put the burned side down on the plate. If you can't see it, then it doesn't exist, right? Haha besides that, everything was great. The wagyu burger was juicy, fries were fresh and crispy, and that peanut butter mudslide dessert pretty much got inhaled. Nice little spot with pretty views. Very disappointing. Although the view is amazing the food was not good. I had salmon that was very dry if not for a little dab of sauce. they ruined my Valentine's Day . the worse service ever not to mention lack of professionalism from the moment you walk in and check with the hostess . we made a reservation that was not honored but they were taking walk ins first . so I asked her so what's the point of reservations if u don't honor it . I got nowhere with her instead when we finally got sat and ordered our food took about an hour plus . guess what when the food was delivered the plates were thrown on the table by the wait person . my wife and I looked at each other and said let's leave if she can throw our meal at us she might even have spit in it . The bartenders and staff are amazing. The dinner menu does not have a great selection. We took advantage of the 40% off and it is good we did not have to pay full price. The Salmon was over cooked over spiced and the mash potatoes next to the salmon was just a huge scoop of flavorless potatoes and boring broccoli as a side. May husband had the ribs which were okay. The fries were bagged coated frozen fries. Nothing we ate would bring us back to enjoy a full priced dinner. Very disappointed. Gold Cayon needs a great restaurant this is not it. I ordered a simple Southwestern Salad with turkey , ham , avocado . There was no turkey, about 3 tiny pieces of avocado. The worse salad ever, not crisp not cold. When I mentioned to the waitress that there was no turkey she acted like that was ok, I said I wouldn't of ordered it had I known. She acted all put out and I had to ask for a manager. My wife and I stayed at the resort with a group of friends. We had a long day so we decided to stay on the resort and try Kokopellis Restaurant. There were only two other couples in the restaurant eating at the time. The Mahi Mahi tacos were recommended so we gave it a try. We placed our order then the long wait commenced. It had taken a long time to get our drink order and for our server to even stop back to check on us. We all sat there with empty drinks as we waited and waited for our dinner. Finally dinner arrived and guess what....everybody's food was cold from sitting around. We went ahead and ordered more drinks since the server was finally at our table and everyone was just about done picking at their cold meals before those drinks showed up. From our experience I wouldn't recommend this place. Service was bad as well as the cold overpriced resort food. If you happen to stay at the Gold Canyon Resort do yourself a favor and go off resort to eat. You will save yourself some money and hopefully have hot food and better service. read more

Completely overpriced disappointment. Met a friend for lunch. I had a Ketel 1 martini and a side of vegetables because I had already ate lunch. She had a Wedge salad with chicken added and a double vodka lemonade drink. (We were celebrating, so no comments on the booze please). My vegetables came drenched in butter and were almost inedible. My drink had grocery store bought olives. Her salad was big and she ended up taking half home. Then we got the bill. The Ketel One martini cost $18. Seriously? I could have spent less at Steak 44 in Scottsdale and at least got oversized, gorgonzola stuffed olives. Our total bill for the 1 lunch, 1 vegetable side and two drinks was $77. Contrast: Later, for dinner went to Carrabas. 9 oz Glass of Wine, IPA Beer, Mahi Mahi dinner that came with Cesar Salad, Bowl of Mussels, Caparese appetizer, Chicken wings and one dessert. The food was delicious. Our total bill for 2 drinks, one dinner, three appetizers and a desert: $66. Gold Canyon Golf Resort serves low quality food with mega high end pricing that they should be ashamed of. Save your $$ and head to Mesa. read more

This place is so shit hasn't been renovated in like many years, the food is CHEAP, the menu is OVERPRICED, The general manager is a dick and doesn't respect any of his employees unless he likes them, the pay for all employees is sad literally $12.15 an hour for a damn golf resort smh, McDonald's employees make more than that, the kitchen is old they need new kitchen equipment, when the sewage backs up there's sewage water leaking into the kitchen, the a/c units barley work there's a big ass hole in the roof where the big ass a/c unit is. Also half of the employees barley do the minimum for their job, they keep the shit workers and fire the hard workers, they pass around bullshit this environment isn't good they need to close down and remodel the entire restaurant get NEW equipment and so on. Along side the restaurant the hotel is kinda nice the people at the front desk are kinda helpful and somewhat friendly although some of the rooms leak when it rains and you got ceiling bubbles that start forming when it rains or leaks, the bellman kip doesn't really do his job he sits there and complains that he's being over worked when he clearly just sitting there not doing a thing, im also pretty sure the general manager pays the Health inspector to not say a word on how shit his kitchen is, so in other words as your reading this the place isn't your typical 5 star resort with all the fun that you expected they care very little about their employees to go off and fire them over a reason they can't come up with in all honesty this place is as equivalent as a normal 3 or 4 star hotel don't waste your time and money coming here you will be At disappointment other than the views of the mountains. I've eaten here a couple times. The first time was a couple years ago and I wasn't expecting low prices but was expecting good food for the money which I received. The second time was for Mother's Day 2021. We drove out from Gilbert because I liked the place last time and most places closer were booked. The Mother's day brunch was a decent buffet but wasn't anything unusual and wasn't kept full and ran out of items. The worst parts were that the buffet was $45 or $50 PER PERSON for $25-30 buffet value, AND the orange juice I ordered was rancid!! I told the waitress and she said that it was the same orange juice they used in the mimosas. I had to ask repeatedly to remove the orange juice from our bill and there was no offer to remove the mimosas, which I should have demanded. Brunch for 5 cost $300 with mediocre unfilled buffet, spoiled orange juice and mimosas!! Incredible!! read more

Don't waste your time, they lost my reservation for Thanksgiving dinner, so they sat us in the bar and grill instead of the nice dinning room. I've had a better meal out of a Marie Calendar TV dinner. Why does the staff ask if they can bring you anything else, and you ask for more bread, or ice cream for your apple pie, and it never shows up? For the price we paid to eat a turkey dinner here we could have gone anywhere else, and had a better meal, better service, and paid half as much. Kokopelli's is one of our favorite restaurants to spend a beautiful evening. It was our anniversary last week and what better place to go ? We sat in the sun on the patio for drinks to start. It overlooks the greenery of the golf course & the mountains. It was lovely weather, about 75 degrees and we watched as the sun set and shades of orange and pink filled the sky. After that we moved inside the restaurant to have dinner, which turned out to be scrum.delicious and even better than it usually is.! My husband had the spareribs, which melted in his mouth and I had calamari & a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing & bacon. Both outstanding dishes as well as excellent service. We told the manager how much we had enjoyed the evening and the food. We made sure that he walked into the kitchen to tell the chef how great our meals were.. "Kiss the cook" is my motto !! Apparently the chef is new & only 25 years old ! Very impressive indeed. We spoke to 2 other couples while we were eating .. a friendly place. One couple from Wisconsin in for a wedding and another couple celebrating their anniversary, as we were, They also told us their food was extremely tasty. read more

Not bad for a buffet. They have an omelet bar and plenty to choose from, but we weren't expecting a buffet. There have eggs benedict, bacon & sausage, pancakes, crepe puffs, mini muffins, fruit and cereal. The views are really nice as well, no matter where you sit. Service was good, buuuuut, its a buffet. Kokopelli's is the restaurant at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. There's just not a whole lot to choose from in terms of restaurants in the Apache Junction area. My boyfriend and I were staying at the resort for a long weekend and we were pleasantly surprised with our meal at Kokopelli's. So much so that we returned a second night. In the summer there is live music several nights a week. Both nights there was a large group of golfers and presumably their wives staying at the resort who weren't shy about dancing to the music under the stars. There's a very friendly atmosphere happening on this patio. We met lots of interesting people, mostly in a different place in their lives than we two twenty-somethings. But it was really refreshing to be around so many friendly, talkative people. And really, the food was delicious. Will had a steak the first night we were there and he couldn't stop talking about how good both it and the brussel sprouts were (roasted). I had a grilled chicken salad with strawberries, bleu cheese and a citrus vinagrette. It was huge a delicious. The next time we went back, I had fish over angel hair pasta and it too was delicious. And the service was so friendly and attentive. There's probably little to no reason that you would ever be "passing through" Apache Junction, AZ. But if you do, and you need a place to grab a bite, hit Kokopelli's. read more

Had breakfast twice and lunch once while staying nearby. Staff is friendly and experienced enough to see or know what's needed rather than having to be told. My omelette on both occasions was delicious. I especially liked their country hash browns as they were nice and crisp the way I like. I noticed others seemed to like them as well with no unfinished golden potato nuggets left on their plates. The chicken chipotle sandwich was also delicious although the lettuce was wilted and I removed it. The fries were again cooked appropriately, light and crisp. Used to like this place but tonight we waited 1 hour for a table (when we were told 10-15 minutes). Once we sat down we waited 20 minutes for someone to even take our drink order. After waiting another hour we asked her to check on our food. Her response was "you didn't get your food yet?" and then she came back to inform us what I had ordered was sold out--- after waiting AN HOUR. Was it sold out an hour ago when I placed my order?! It's been 2 hours now and all we've gotten are drinks. Never coming here again.. At least for dinner. Maybe try the lunch hour. This is such a wonderful find! We spent the weekend at Gold Canyon Resort for our anniversary and the food was SO delicious. DO NOT MISS the green lip mussel appetizer ($3 off from 3-5pm). The sauce is wine and with just a hint of lemon and butter, and the bread is grilled and perfect for dipping. We also had the Wild Game of the Night, which was an Elk Tenderloin (ask for the gnocchi side), and the salmon over their daily homemade pasta. read more

Funny that there has not been any yelp reviews on this place.....Oh well, I will offer my two cents. Last Sunday, I was looking for a place to have Sunday Brunch, out Apache Junction way. That far east of Phoenix, there is not much available at all. So in searching the internet, I found this place. So I called and spoke with a very friendly woman who seemed very nice and knowledgeable. I asked her if this establishment served a Sunday Brunch. She said yes, and told me the following. Brunch is served from 6 am until 1 pm. And the price was $15.99. I said why are they opened so early and why are they closed at 1 pm? She said they open early for the early T time golfers but she did not know why they close at 1 pm. I asked if this brunch had not only breakfast items, but meats, entrees, salad, desserts, and all that kind of items for a Sunday brunch. She said, Oh Yes, and they serve Champagne too! But the meats and salads only come out after 10 am. So I thought that this would be perfect. We got there around 11 am and I was very disappointed. They only had breakfast items. Omlette stations, breakfast meats, toast, muffins, bagels, french toast, etc. etc. So I asked the manager about what I was told and she said that she has no idea as to why I was told that since they never-ever had a Sunday brunch there! Really funny that I got all that detail but none of it was true. Maybe the girl was just pulling my chain for the hell of it!! Incidentally the breakfast buffet was OK but not worth $15.99 -- maybe $9.99 at the most. read more
