Tried Cooper's Hawk for the first time and I didn't realize there was a huge wine bar/tasting bar when you first walk in with some retail items. It was about 5:30 PM on a Wednesday and the place was Poppin! The bar was completely full and it was loud!. We did not have a reservation and the only open seating was at the bar or high tops in the bar area. We were quickly greeted and our server was incredibly on top of it! I noticed that the main menu had a line at the bottom that stated a gluten-free menu would be available upon request. I did ask to see this menu as gluten-free is my dietary preference, not an allergyand I was brought a complementary gluten-free bun instead of the pretzel bread. I thanked our server and told him not to worry that it was just a preference and he told me that he treats all gluten friendly requests as an allergy. I really appreciated the care and concern he had for my health and well-being. This is unprecedented at most restaurants. They had a very extensive gluten-free menu and I can't wait to go back and try so many more items. We did try the Leonard burger and made quite a few modification requests - all of which were 100% accommodated. This burger was so incredibly juicy! My entire hand was dripping by the time I got done eating it. Everything else we tried was delicious. I've been to Cooper's Hawk twice now. My most recent visit was on Easter Sunday. My husband and I had a lunch reservation around 1:30 pm. The restaurant was busy as expected. We were greeted as soon as we got to the hostess stand and were seated a few minutes later. Service was great. We were handed several different menus: Brunch and bubbles menu, Baja-inspired chef recommendations, their regular menu, and later, the dessert menu. I can understand one additional menu for their seasonal items but three not including the dessert menu seems a lot. My husband and I ordered the following: Asian ahi tuna sashimi Soup and salad: tortilla soup and wedge salad Parmesan crusted Mahi Mahi Carrot cake (Easter special) The ahi tuna sashimi was light and fresh. My entree, the parmesan crusted mahi mahi was delicious and filling. I had it with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I'm pretty sure I ordered it during my first visit as well. My husband opted for the soup and salad combo and chose the tortilla soup and wedge salad. I didn't try either, but they looked appetizing and he enjoyed them. I saw that their seasonal dessert was carrot cake and I couldn't resist! I don't usually go for carrot cakes and was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved theirs. It was three layers of moist goodness! No notes. And the frosting was perfect. I'm still thinking about it months later! Upon entering you're greeted by a large wine tasting area and retail space. Jovial, lively, and brightly lit. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Impressive wine list. Be sure to get a complimentary tasting of their house blend. When I saw a pic of the caprese flatbread I just knew I had to have it. The balsamic glaze plays perfectly off the fresh heirloom tomatoes, and the cheese serving is generous af. Delicious. The Caesar salad was nicely dressed. Hints of pesto. Our mains arrived before our wine, so there's that. Braised short rib was delicate and flavorful. The roasted vegetables each played a role in highlighting protein, a v strong dish indeed. The husband ordered the surf and turf: crab-encrusted medallions and shrimp Tempura. Of this, he said it was good but not incredible. Reminiscent of a chain steakhouse meal, not an upscale independent eatery. Better than Outback. That's really too bad bc I quite enjoyed my short rib. I came here for a wine tasting and we loved it so much that we stayed for dinner too. This is my second time at the Gilbert location. I live in Chandler so I typically go to the Chandler location. The Gilbert location has a little bit smaller tasting room and restaurant, but the food quality is just as great. The wine tasting because it was so busy and is smaller was a little bit slow, but that did give us time for our girls group to talk and catch up after the holidays. After our winetasting, we went and ate in the bar area. We started with an appetizer of the brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were cooked to crispy perfection with a delicious sauce on top. For my main course, I had the salmon which was also divine. The glaze on the salmon dish is mouthwatering and the wonton salad that accompanies it made for a perfect perfectly paired combination. I could do without the wasabi on the mashed potatoes would be the only change I might suggest . I love the dessert, wines here and had a glass of the chocolate noir as an after dinner delight. We had the most fantastic time. Everyone raved about the food. The food here is always amazing no matter what you get, you'll be impressed! Overall, a great experience! The restaurant is clean and well kept, though the layout is a bit odd and the patio is pretty small. One funny thing - we saw several people struggling to find the front entrance depending on where they parked. I actually came in through the patio to meet my boyfriend, while he entered through the front, which he said was really cool and filled with their wine products. We walked out that way later and it definitely was worth seeing. We went on a Thursday around 5pm. At first, we were the only ones on the patio, but within an hour both the patio and the inside were completely full. The front area was also busy with people buying wine or picking up orders from their wine membership. We came for happy hour since it's much cheaper than the regular menu, and everything we tried was very good. Pleasantly surprised by the food and drinks! The only downside was the frequent push for their wine membership. Our server mentioned it almost every time she stopped by and even left a brochure. Not overly aggressive, but noticeable. The membership makes sense if you visit monthly and drink wine often; otherwise, it may not be worth it. I brought my best friend here for her birthday lunch. She and I have birthdays that are one day apart (May 28 & 29). As I am a member, I receive certain perks and decided to share them with her. First of all, it was a very calm and beautiful environment. The seating was perfect and the temperature wasn't too cold for her as we were there in the lunch hour. Our waitress was exquisite, knowledgeable, and very attentive. As she had a birthday dinner later that evening, we decided to only indulge in wine and appetizers. Needless to say we both ended up very full and feeling very hydrated, lol. I was able to use my four wine tastings, which gave us essentially two glasses a piece. She ordered the flatbread and I ordered the lettuce wraps and potstickers. Thank goodness that we didn't order the entree's or we wouldn't have been able to finish it all. I indulged in an additional glass, and we both enjoyed a delicious crème brûlée birthday dessert. Every single item was flavorful, hot and beautifully presented. The music, as always, created a wonderful ambience. All in all we spent $42, so of course I left a gracious tip because the service was top-notch! He gave us the speech and I said thank you. Neither of us are wine drinkers. Ordered lunch and a diet soda. I wasn't given a refill on my soda. He just picked up my glass and walked away. Okay so it was my first time in tonight, my boyfriend has a membership here which he usually goes with friends! I was finally able to come in because it was Tuesday, which happened to be my birthday. Our wine steward was Hannah, I have nothing but great things to say about her. As a bartender myself with 8+ years of experience, this girl impressed me. She wasn't only amazing and personable, but she knew how to build rapport. My boyfriend and I were really vibing with her, she answered all our stupid questions and was super knowledgeable. As we were talking, one of the other wine steward Justin made a comment to her to basically quit "chatting" with us, and it definitely rubbed us the wrong way. Hannah was the best. What a cool restaurant! You are greeted with a sweeping wine bar the second you walk through the door and it really promotes a social vibe with all of the other diners. You walk through an incredible dining space with hard wood furniture as you're seated and the abundant inverted glass decanters used to serve the wine is such a signature touch. I had their gluten-free: - Summer berry spritzy sangria (limited time offering) - Complimentary gluten-free bread - Dana's parmesan-crusted chicken (gluten-free) $26.99 - Dessert wine & truffle pairing with blueberry, rhubarb and passion fruit wines and an orange, chocolate and white chocolate truffles. (On the gluten-free menu only.) $17.99 The dessert was big enough for me to split with my husband. The truffles are huge! This is a chain restaurant with locations in the Phoenix-metro area, Florida and the Midwest USA. I wish there was one in Las Vegas where I live. I personally ordered the gnocchi carbonara but would skip it next time and the steak medallions and many of the sides were so-so. Super attentive, great personality and professional throughout our entire dining experience. Started with some complementary pretzel bread with whipped butter which was super delish. Some in our party had a few cocktails and some others (including myself) had lemonade. They offer several different flavors of lemonade that's freshly made in house. I had their peach lemonade that I really enjoyed. Meal wise in our group we ordered a variety of things. I had the seafood bisque which was really devine and one of the chefs special for that evening, that was crispy rice with spicy tuna. It was so fresh & delicious. A few pasta dishes a burger, soy ginger salmon & parmesan crusted chicken were ordered and everything looked and tasted good. Note- A few plates could have had a bit more portions for the price like the chicken dish. My son wasn't full from his main course. At the end of dinner, we had to order their salted caramel crème brulee. This wasn't the best we've had, but it was good. The birthday girl also received some beautifully crafted chocolates to celebrate her special day. If you are a wine connoisseur this is a grape spot for not only pairing your wines with your meal, they also have a lovely front of house area to browse their selections, many gift options & a lot of fun wine accessories to explore. We stopped in to grab a GC for the parents and decided to grab a drink and an appetizer off the HH Menu and sit at the high top by the bar. Hubby loves getting an old fashion when we go places. He asked our waitress if they use a large ice cube and she confirmed. We ordered and we were able to see the bartender making the drink. It was made in a glass full of ice cubes and sat for a few minutes. Why.....this is absolutely not how you make a old fashioned. The drink was then strained into another cup and the single icecube added. Hubby has had alot of old fashioned and this was on the bottom of the list. I ordered a Dirty Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and it hit the mark. The app we had was delish and our waitress Heidi was attentive and had the best positive attitude. We made a reservation because it is the time of year when things are filling up and we didn't want to wait forever. We started with the tomato bruschetta which was a great way to start. I the had the Gnocchi carbonara and it was excellent. It's seams to reason that gnocchi should be GF but most places add flour so I can rarely order it. They also had GF bread for me while the rest of my family got a basket of regular bread. We also shared a variety of desserts and each one was great. The menu looked promising and the wine list was appealing, but the experience quickly went downhill. Despite a timely arrival and ordering without delay, the pacing of the meal was unacceptable. Appetizers came out first, but it took at least 45 minutes for the main courses to appear -- and even then, they didn't arrive together. Several of us sat waiting so the table could eat at the same time, only to be served cold entrées when everything finally showed up. One friend ordered the Gnocchi and found it bland, underwhelming, and overpriced for what was delivered. Service throughout the night was equally disappointing. Our server was largely absent, rarely checked in, and didn't even keep water glasses filled. For a restaurant positioned as an elevated dining experience, the lack of attention was glaring. Bottom line: Cooper's Hawk failed to execute on both food and service and clearly struggled to handle a typical Saturday night crowd. The emphasis seems to be on selling wine rather than delivering a well-run dining experience. For a special occasion in Gilbert, there are far better options that won't leave you feeling let down. read more

I took Michele to Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant for her 60th birthday, and the entire evening was unforgettable. We started with the Shrimp Tempura appetizer, which was light, crispy, and full of flavor. Michele enjoyed a tasting of several Sangria wines, each one better than the last. For dinner, Michele ordered the Prime Churrasco Grilled Steak with Drunken Shrimp, and I had the Parmesan‑Crusted Filet Medallions paired with the Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon. Both dishes were outstanding -- beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and served hot and fresh. Our waiter, Scott, deserves special recognition. He was professional, attentive, and genuinely added to the experience. His service was exceptional from start to finish. At the end of the meal, he surprised Michele with a delicious chocolate dessert that made her birthday feel even more special. We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and two bottles of the Strawberry Rhubarb wine to take home -- a perfect ending to a perfect night. Best restaurant dinner we have had in 5 years. We didn't have reservations but the wait was enjoyable. They have a tasting bar and shopping area to entertain yourself with. Clean and friendly environment. Service was amazing. Food was so incredibly delicious. We haven't had steaks cooked so perfectly in years. Fun and relaxing environment. Wine is ALIVE AND WELL!!! That's my takeaway from my visit to Coopers Hawk for dinner last night. Glad I had a reservation because the place was completely packed for a Tuesday night. This included both the front bar area and spacious dining room. Because of that the noise levels are a bit high, but it's a great energetic feeling in this place. For an appetizer, I tried the candied bacon and cheese plate. It included a couple different kinds of cheese and a nice mozzarella and tomato offering. With it, I paired the red wine flight which included a pinot noir, a super Tuscan, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and a petite Syrah. A really great start to our meal. For my main course, I had trouble deciding there's so many good looking entrées on the menu, but I landed on the surf and turf which included some fillet mignon tenderloins, and I went with the blackened Aji tuna as my surf add. I punted on the mashed potatoes and doubled up on a really good roasted vegetable mix. My date ordered an outstanding shrimp risotto. The service was great throughout the meal and we punted on dessert even though there's a beautiful list of things I'll go back to try. There's plenty of parking around the facility and it includes an outdoor patio that I believe is dog friendly. Dinner for two including a glass of wine or two and appetizer will run you about $100 pre-tip. I actually think a great value for your experience here. We had a lovely lunch at Cooper's Hawk on a Saturday. It was a nice surprise to see they opened early on the weekends for brunch (10am). They also had $5 brunch cocktails so I got a Sangria and it was delicious, and a substantial size for $5. We got the calamari and potstickers to start. Both were great, although, I would probably ask for the sweet and sour sauce the calamari with on the side. I also go the bruschetta and tortilla soup. Both were amazing, and my friend's French dip looked amazing. Our server was hilarious and very attentive. I didn't realize how large the place was but it looked like they had tons of seating.
