Royal Hawaiian Center 2nd floor food court. I know shaved ice is very popular but hands down give me the Dole whip 10/10 times instead. Order: Dole whip was light fluffy and extremely satisfying. I could eat it by the gallon! Great flavor and texture. Overall: Don't walk here..run as fast as you can. You will not be disappointed!
Located on the 2nd floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center (in the food court), this spot offers a unique dessert if you want something other than shave ice. It's comparable to "Somi Somi" where they have soft serve, fresh waffle desserts, and other sweet treats. The cashier was extremely helpful and made sure all of our questions about the menu were answered. I highly recommend!
Stumbled on this place that is located in a shopping area within a food court. At first we thought no one was there but they came out to take our order. I had to try the Shaka boom with the pineapple dole whip and it comes with two toppings. We also ordered a sweet iced tea. It was all good and came out quick. The waffle cone was a little soft but still good and it does come with an ample amount of ice cream. Since it is in the food court it was very busy, loud and crowded so make sure you grab a table quick if you plan on sitting down to eat your ice cream.
Royal Hawaiian Center is bustling, on the second floor there is a food court and Kokoro, which has Dole Whip Soft Serve Ice cream. I had to get away from the crowds for a bit and went straight to Kokoro. I ordered the Dole Whip in a small cup and it was creamy and delicious. It was really warm that day that I had to hurry up and take a picture before it melted! I liked Kokoro so much I came back two more times (once for Dole Whip and once for the Shaka Boom) and each time I finished it in 6 minutes flat! The Shaka Boom had vanilla/chocolate soft serve, Oreos, Pocky sticks and shaka waffle was fun to eat. The owner or Kokoro is a really nice guy and we had fun chatting about football (apparently there was a big game that my SO was watching).
We came for the Shaka... and it did not disappoint. It's a light crispy waffle on a mountain of ice cream and filled with ice cream. We also had the pineapple dole whip. Both were great but what was a pleasant surprise was the service. The owner made our dishes and he had such a passion for what he was doing and was beyond friendly. I'd go again just to see him!
Came here for dessert after eating breakfast in Waikiki. It's a small stand in the Royal Hawaiian Center. Menu consists of ice cream, soft serve, mochi pops, or juices. You order on a tablet at the stand. The worker was super nice & answered all my questions. It takes a bit for them to make because they put the decorations on it so perfectly. They're known for the Shaka Boom & you can choose your soft serve that goes with it. I chose the dole whip with fruity pebbles on top of the Shaka waffle. 8/10. The dole whip is tart & also creamy because of the vanilla in it. The waffle is kinda hard near the fingers but everywhere else was softer. Melts pretty fast so has to be eaten quickly. My husband got the Oreo sundae, 6/10. It was a vanilla soft serve with Oreo crumbles, fudge drizzle and an Oreo. A little bit too sweet for my liking but it's a large portion so definitely shareable!
Maybe their ice cream and soft serve is okay... but what really got me upset was their use of canned pineapple. I'm coming to Hawaii, so I'd want the good fresh stuff. Not sad watery bits of fruit remnants. Certainly not giving them another overpriced 10 bucks for this tragedy of a dessert. Service was kinda slow and it's in a cute mall. Good luck finding a table Saturday night.
Such a cute spot with so many options. It is located on the second floor of a shopping center I forgot the name. They served pretty quick, I'm pretty sure they serve dole whip at this location. I would definitely try something on the menu. read more
Boom Shakalaka!! Kawaii!!!! Omg the ultimate treat...they totally had me at Dole whip then to have the added choice to make it into a twist in coconut into a Shaka waffle cone that's filled with your choice of cream and top it with two free sprinkles of your choice how in the heavens do you resist that!? I sure didn't and had to have one and wow so perfectly refreshing on this Hawaiian summertime afternoon. This adorable cafe is located in the food court of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki on the second floor building B, easy to find and lots of seating which makes it the perfect rest stop to take care of whatever you need for that break in the day. It's not too sweet at all just the right amount of flavor that I've always love and if they add Matcha to their soft serve that's a whole level of excitement...hint hint!! Thank you!!! read more
Located on the 2nd floor in the food court area. - Shaka-Boom: For flavors, we got half Pineapple Dole Whip and half Classic Vanilla with red bean as the filling and Oreo cookie powder and chocolate pocky sticks as the toppings. The flavors were very mediocre and bland and the red bean was very liquidy. The waffle cone tasted pretty good for what we could eat since most of it was very hard--we gave up trying since it would have been too messy if we tried to break it. 2/5. - Pineapple Dole Whip in a Waffle Cone: Basic waffle cone with the flavor being quite bland. 2/5. The desserts weren't terrible, but it's not something I would recommend unless you want a picture for the gram lol. The service was great though and the girl working was very patient since my mom did take some time to decide what she wanted. read more

I don't often think about ice cream when I visit a new destination, but Kokoro Cafe looked cute enough to spark interest for a quick bite before lunch. Who says we can't have dessert before an actual meal? Location: inside the food court of a sprawling shopping complex across multiple buildings on the center most of what I would call the Waikiki strip (think of Las Vegas where the northern side is a bit busy, and the southern side is more relaxed, with the center being an epicenter for eating and shopping). Why did we come here? Well, we were looking for lunch and most places were closed by 2PM in preparation for dinner service and we were waiting until 2:30PM for a reservation at a nearby spot. The ice cream looked interesting, in particular the shaka-boom; think of a taiyaki but in the shape of a Hawaiian hand symbol. I customized mine to include a pineapple and vanilla soft serve, matcha powder, li-hing mui powder (preserved plum), and coconut cream. The service was very attentive with the preparer of my dessert applauding my choice as it emulates the tropics of Hawaii. My friend ordered a quick snack as well; a mochi lollipop, similar to a mochi doughnut but in the form of a waffle on a stick. We both enjoyed our afternoon snacks very much. read more
We wanted a unique dessert and saw the pictures of this and knew we had to go! It's tucked into the mall in a food court. There were only 2 people working and an endless line of people, so once we ordered we waited about 20 minutes for our dessert. But the shaka was adorable and tasted like a fortune cookie and the froyo was good. read more

The pit stop here was post Ramen so goodness knows how it's solidified the fat in my belly! Anywho, it was for the 8 year old who was keen for a boba initially then we saw this! She initially wanted the waffle on a stick thing but then the Shaka boom was too enticing to skip! Chocolate loaded with choc/vanilla soft serve, sprinkles, Oreo cookie crumb and chocolate sauce, the Shaka booom was definitely epic! It was bigger than I imagined and delicious to eat as we sat chillin' and people watching! Not much to service but friendly enough. read more

It's a quick place in the Royal Hawaiian Center for something sweet. It's hot! Not cold. It's like a mini Mochi waffle on a stick. Our was a little burnt, but still tasty and gooey. If you're wanting something sweet and cold, I would recommend the Shaka Boom. It comes with Ice cream on top of a "" Mochi waffle. read more
I've been wanting to try this place for years after seeing their cute shaka waffles. I finally made it a point to stop by on a Saturday afternoon. Located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, parking was a bit of a struggle since the lot was pretty packed. They're a Japanese inspired dessert shop so they have mochi waffle pops, drinks and they're famous shaka booms! It's basically like taiyaki, but instead of a fish shape, it's a shaka. You get to choose your filing for the shaka, soft serve flavor and two free toppings. I got our shaka filled with haupia with dole whip soft serve topped with lihing powder and fruity pebbles. You can't beat the pineapple and lihing combination and the shaka waffle was nice and crispy with the creamy haupia filling. The worker did such a good job making it look super cute. I was also worried about the portion, but I didn't realize they not only add soft serve in the cup, but soft serve on top the shaka as well. It was good enough to share between two people (if you're not too hungry). Definitely recommend if you're looking for some cute, instagram-worthy desserts! FLAVOR (5/5): We loved the consistency of the soft serve! The texture of the hand was also very soft. They have a good variety of toppings, we chose white chocolate drizzle and a powder dusting. A ting of sour to cut the sweetness is exactly what we wanted on a hot afternoon! INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): I mean look how darn cute it is! It definitely made it on my foodie page @duyoufeelhungry. They spent a lot of time to make it aesthetic even with the placement of the cookie! SERVICE (5/5): We got there right when they opened. The cashier girl was super friendly and helpful! Very fast service as she had to make our ice cream too. TAKEAWAYS: A cute dessert located in the food court! A bit out of the way if you're trying to find it. You need to cross the bridge, go down a level and make it to the food court. read more

I'd like to add this place as one of the places that took advantage of Covid for everything. They refuse to give you a sample of the ice cream "because of Covid". And of course it's not the poor server's choice. It's the owner!! Hey, owner, I realize you think location location location... and you are probably right. But seriously, how much would the samples cost you? Also, very strategic to leave an entire hole in the middle so that you serve less ice cream to people. NOT COOL DUDE! read more

It was hard to say which ones were my favorite since I liked them all! I would've gotten the Dole whipped float but I already had some desserts before coming here. The dole whip was fantastic I had the mango pineapple swirl. If you need a dole whip fix without having to go to the dole plantation this is the place for you. I am from Long Beach so I had always thought the only place where you could find dole whip would be at disneyland at the Tiki Juice bar but I couldn't be more wrong. If you just go on yelp or google, you will find so many shaved ice restaurants and other places who sell dole whip. Not only do they have regular dole whip but they will have dole whip in a variety of other unique flavors like mango, lemon or orange. I digress. I am knocking one start for the taste of the shaka boom waffle. Like many other reviewers have noted the waffle was NOT GOOD. It was a bit hard and not fluffy and did not leave a good taste in my mouth. Also the option to put toppings on the dole whip is a little weird. My gf put fruity pebbles which does not go well with the dole whip. I thought they were going for a somi somi vibe how they have their fish but they are nothing like somi somi. The shaka boom waffle at least photographs well so I would recommend it one time for the instagram photo but other than that I would just go here for a cup of dole whip and nothing else read more

We love Dole whip, so we're always looking for ways to get it without having to drive all the way to the north shore! This place has dole whip, and it's floating in a POG (passion orange guava) slush! Topper off with pineapple chunks. It's so refreshing! You can also get a cup of dole whip with many different toppings, including fruity pebbles! So delicious! read more
Ee ordered the Mochi stick with fruity pebbles. I dont think this is my style of dessert. When i bit on it, i can only tasted the fruity pebbles and chocolate syrup, i dont really taste the mochi waffle. I like it better when it's plain so it can keep its original flavor. read more
Located on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center, you'll find Kokoro Cafe. A small counter operating dessert shop on the corner inside of the Pa'ina Lanai Food Court. The funny story is that I've wanted to check them out after seeing pictures of their Shaka-Boom years ago but never got around to it (I still haven't tried it yet). Kokoro Cafe caught my eye with its simple yet extensive unique dessert menu. They offer their famous Shaka-Boom as well as soft serve, floats, drinks, and Mochi-Pop. For their desserts, you're able to customize your own or choose from their set menu. Since I was somewhat full from dinner and had never seen a Mochi-Pop before I had to try one! I opted for the Paradise Dreams Mochi-Pop which came with Haupia Cream, Coconut Flakes, and Passionfruit Sauce. The Mochi-Pop is relatively small and served on a popsicle stick on a plate which I found necessary. The waffle came warm and was soft, chewy, and a bit flimsy. I needed to use a fork to cut and eat it so having the plate was perfect. It would've been nice if the waffle was a bit firmer. Aside from that, it was packed with shredded coconuts and a delicious sweet, tangy, and flavorful passionfruit sauce. Although a bit sweet, I found it to be the perfect amount! My friend got their Oreo Sundae which was a daily special. I had a bite and it wasn't anything special--just vanilla ice cream and crushed Oreos. The small cafe is popular and the workers do a good job managing the crowds. Considering the desserts are made to order, service was relatively fast and friendly. They also validate parking if you park at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center parking garage. Everything looked delicious on their menu and I love that the combinations are endless for their desserts. It's a little pricey for what you get but super tasty! I'd be interested in coming back to try their other Mochi-Pop flavors as well as their Dole Whip since it's dairy free! read more

Our son's very first ice cream was here six years ago! Gil, the proprietor, still remembers our family, even though we only visit about once a year. We think it's great ice cream, the staff is always nice and it's usually easy to find a seat somewhere nearby. read more

I was craving something sweet after having lunch today. We decided to check out the food court area and spotted this place. I decided to go with a the Oreo mochi waffle and a pog dole whip float. I really enjoyed the mochi waffle! My husband enjoyed the pot dole whip float. It was a perfect for a little sweet craving. read more

Update: 10/23/22 The Dole Whip served at Kokoro Cafe is deliciously refreshing and spot on to the Dole plantation's Dole Whip. The difference is the cost for a small cup is $4 and a large cup $8. The price is pretty steep for this dessert. So when you realize that they serve the Dole Whip with a very large hollow center (see pic), you'll feel pretty ripped off (-2). The explanation the worker and manager gave is that the only way you can get the swirl presentation is you have to start the swirl around the edge and work your way up to give it the swirl shape. That being said, as many of us have experienced getting soft served ice cream from a machine at a buffet restaurant is that you can start the swirl from the center and work your way around the edges and and repeat for the perfect volume and swirl shape. Why can't the workers at Kokoro cafe do the same since the price is so expensive for what you get? The manager was understanding when I about my concerns and offered a small ice cream to make up for the large hollow center (+1). I've had the Dole Whip Float in the past here at Kokoro and it was very good and refreshing. The hollowness in the center was present but not as large volume as I saw today. If your concerns are similar to mine, then avoid ordering the Dole Whip or any other soft serve desserts. They have other desserts to choose from including ice cream. read more

located inside the royal hawaiian center...2nd floor food court...deciding to cool down and get couple cones...soft serve ice cream with a small selection of choices...chocolate, vanilla, chocolate/vanilla and dole pineapple...other items like dole whip floats and mochi-pop to novelty treats like the shaka-boom (shaka cone)....taking the basic soft serve on a waffle cone...$5 each...ordered 2 cones, but worker must have misheard my order...ended up getting a 3rd cone for free to correct the misunderstanding...great customer service...the soft serve and the waffle cones were great...great smooth texture and tasted fantastic....can't go wrong with a dole whip soft serve...chocolate and vanilla soft serve was velvety smooth... read more
While at the Royal Hawaiian Center we visited the food court and decided to try the Shaka-Boom at the Kokoro Cafe. I got the soft served chocolate in a waffle hand. It was so delicious because it was sold and creamy. It was sweet enough but not too sweet. The staff was very nice and the location was nice and clean. Such a fun cafe. Definitely love the Shaka boom dole whip or you can pick yummy chocolate swirl with toppings. They have yummy sundaes and mochi bits if you like that too. Their waffle treats are delish. We went a couple times to try different treats and the workers were sweet and helpful with it being a popular busy location at times. Kokoro is located in the Paina Lanai Food Court on the second floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center. This place is pretty cool because it serves their shaka-boom! It's your choice of soft serve in a shaka-shaped cone. It also has the addition of your choice of filling in the cone! I went ahead and got my shaka-boom with mango-pineapple soft-serve with li hing mui and coconut haupia filling. The dessert was well-presented and tasty as well. The coconut haupia filling added an unexpected extra dimension to the dessert. Overall, a pretty cool and unique dessert in Hawaii. read more
Definitely something different from home! Although, yes it's still ice cream, however the presentation and uniqueness was what brought me here. I met up with my brother and we walked around the shopping area and I was craving something cold and sweet. Cute little shop in the food court area and I got the Shaka-Boom with the Dole Whip flavor and some matcha. Absolutely delicious with that sweet and sour flavor! Hubby and I had a hard day of walking and decided to have something to cool us off. We were walking in the Royal Hawaiian Centre and found Kokoro Cafe and had a Shaka boom. We both had Dole whip in a Shaka shape waffle. Was so smooth and full of flavour! This place was well worth the stop wasn't really busy. Great instagram photo!! read more

I am in love with the mochi pop and dole whip float! Honestly, I would love to have mochi pops at my wedding next year but unfortunately I live in CA. If Kokoro was in CA, I would definitely come back, and if they offered catering services for events I would for sure email an inquiry! This place is located at the food court at the Royal Hawaiian Center. When we went, it was not crowded at all and the staff was fast and efficient! My fiancé loved the dole whip float and I really liked the mochi pop! I think we got the paradise flavored mochi pop? It was soft and the flavor had a pineapple/coconut taste which was sooo delicious! I feel like Kokoro doesn't get enough attention that it deserves, but this is a place to stop by for the mochi pop and dole whip float! I wish we could've gotten the shaka boom because that looked really good too- if I come back to Waikiki, I'm for sure making a stop to Kokoro ! read more
