She also ordered hot tea and got to choose her tea bag from a lovely box, which was a cute touch. The only thing I might say is that the owner was a bit brusque/gruff. I understand being businesslike and I know customers can be a pain in the food industry, but his attitude was just not very welcoming I suppose. Still a good experience overall though! Although it appears to be a typical full service restaurant, there is no server to take your order. You begin by ordering at the counter. Afterward, you find a table and your order will be brought out when it's ready. I ordered: The McFancy (substituted the sausage for a tomato slice) $7 - The biscuit had a crispy, golden exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. You can tell they bake it fresh in-house. It was VERY buttery but also very finger licking good. Blueberry Pancake (without powdered sugar) $12 - Their pancake is truly unique and unlike any other I've ever had. The deep golden brown edge around the pancake is crispy and give it a satisfying crunch, similar to the edge of a grilled cheese sourdough sandwich. While it's quite greasy, it's also incredibly satisfying to eat. Both dishes 5/5. Where I felt the experience fell short was the service. Although the young dark-haired gal who was clearing and setting tables was very friendly and pleasant, the lady at the counter taking my order wearing a chef coat, who I presume may be the owner, wasn't particularly warm or friendly. I asked if the sausage in my sandwich could be substituted for something other than meat since I don't eat meat. She begrudgingly said, "the best I can do is a slice of tomato." I was perfectly happy with that substitution but her demeanor was disappointing and very off putting. Overall, Oliver's Gourmet has a nice atmosphere and good food but the service was inconsistent during my visit. A little more warmth and friendliness from the owner would have made this a 5 star experience.

For a dish with so much promise, it was surprisingly bland and desperately needed a trip to "flavor town." Not many restaurants serve sweet potato tater tots, so whenever I'm craving them, this is one of my go-to spots.
