First time here and was really impressed by the service from the front to the bar. Getting seated was super quick. We opted to sit in the bar versus at a table instead. The vibe here is casual but upbeat. This is a place you can come just to hang or to celebrate. I love when places have charcuterie boards...this one did not disappoint. Had a great experience at Whiskey Cake in Stafford yesterday. My family treated me a fantastic brunch for Father's Day weekend. My wife and I have been to WC several times before for lunch, happy hour, and dinner but this was our first time for brunch. We had 1pm reservations and the sky looked like it was going to pour down ran any moment. Our hostess was very kind and let us pick the table we wished to sit in order to get a good view of the bar and windows to keep an eye on the weather and the arrival of our family members. Our server, Dane, was in top form and gave us suggestions for a starter. We were torn between the Jalapeno-gouda biscuits, Candied Bacon and other tasty sounding dishes and quickly agreed the Goat Cheese Fondue. The dish arrived shortly after our whole party was seated. Dane had great presentation as he drizzled olive oil over the steamy, bubbling cheese dish that looked amazing, smelled wonderful, and tasted even better. Melted goat goat cheese with a blend of olives, roasted tomatoes, garlic confit and thyme that we generously spread over warm toast points. It was all devoured in no time. Dane returned to clear our plates and took our order. The brunch menu is an exploration in so many things to suit your breakfast or lunch craving. We ordered the Strawberry Short Stack, the Hangover Burger, Brunch Sandwich, and the Steak and Egg Hash. Out of curiosity we also ordered a side of the Green Chile Cheese Grits. My wife and I love to share so the Strawberry Short Stack and Brunch Sandwich were perfect for dividing. Those pancakes are picture perfect, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Interestingly, Dane had asked if we wanted the toppings of strawberry compote, vanilla anglaise, whipped strawberry butter, and lemon shortbread crumble on the side so we could control the sweetness. For us that was the perfect suggestion as we were able to individually taste each accoutrement to build our perfect bite. The Brunch Sandwich was fantastic. Sometimes a breakfast sandwich can appear to be unwieldy but in this case it was manageable to cut in half and handle appropriately, The everything bagel was the right vehicle for this savory bite of fried-medium egg, layered with applewood smoked bacon, pickled Fresno peppers (for nice pop of spice), greens, american cheese, and a garlic-basil aioli. I didn't taste the Hangover Burger nor the Steak and Egg Hash, perhaps because I was a bit gorged on the pancakes and sandwich but the dishes looked amazing and I have a mental shortlist for the next time we dine at WC. Oh, and I did mention that we were curious about the Green Chile Cheese Grits. Out of this world! Those grits stole the show. We all kept commenting on them. Get them. You will be rewarded. When we dine we always expect good food. For us, service is the reason to come back. Dane was an outstanding server. He had personality and hospitality which is rare these days. He was conversationally engaging. He never lingered too long, always seemed to anticipate what we might need, politely asking to clear plates. Hat's off to Dane. This looks to be a great business / client meeting spot. With a wide open bar area and plenty of room this building can easily host large parties while still maintaining intimate space for date night couples. Great ambience and seating areas off the lounge if they get on a wait. While we were immediately sat the hiccup occurred a few times with service. Off the start no one came to the table for over ten minutes and then only to pour us water. Wasn't even sure was the server as no introduction or welcome was made. Same person returned about 8 minutes later and grabbed a drink order(1 beer. 1 NA beer) which arrived ten minutes later. We put in app order at that point and were not given the chance to put in dinner order. Apps candied bacon and Brussels sprouts were excellent and during check back we placed dinner order. Service missed drink refill ask. Had to flag down a different person to get second round of drinks. Believe a manager. Those drinks came out about 5 minutes later but only One beer. Server arrived with entries about ten minutes later and I pointed out I did not get the NA beer. Entree was pork chop and burger. Both again were excellent. Overall had services been on point easy five star and I definitely would be back to entertain good clients as this is a good experience but not at high end steak house prices. The atmosphere was surprisingly calm and quiet for the evening, which made it a great spot to hang out and catch up with our group. Our waitress was such a sweet and helpful person--super attentive and made the experience even better. We had a larger party, so we got to try a wide range of dishes. I ordered the steak frites with a side of Brussels sprouts and an order of the crab fritters. Overall, the food was pretty solid. The steak frites came with a really nice chimichurri sauce that paired well with the dish. The fries were on the soggier side, but that's more of a personal preference. The only real miss for me was the Brussels sprouts. They had a strange vinegar-like aftertaste that just didn't hit right and honestly felt like something that shouldn't be consumed. We visited this establishment on Sunday July 30. We sat at the bar and were waited on by the bartender/waitress by the name of Shawna. Shawna was very rude and condescending when servicing us. She took more than 15 minutes to even give us our menus and would stop by periodically to let us know that she'll be with us in a moment. Before placing our order, we asked to have the countertop cleaned because it wasn't wiped down from the last service. She appeared to be irritated by the request. It was all downhill from there. The appetizers were good as well as the drinks. My entrée was questionable. It just didn't look appetizing and it wasn't what I expected based on the description described in the menu, I was very disappointed. My main dish and favorite is the salmon in an oyster brother cooked medium it is so warm and light just the BEST. However the company continues to switch out the best salmon dish with another that I could do without and the waiters agree but they try to us variety so my hats off for the attempt. Staff is fantastic the drinks tasty and the comfort level for dining or just sitting with friends to share appetizers and a drink is just perfect. I went to Whiskey Cake Stafford TX so excited as this place has great food, whiskey and people working. Husband and I were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The menu is smaller now, but it has some really good items on it. This specialized deviled egg was French onion flavored and it was so good. The French onion burger and fries were also delicious. My husband liked his drink! Pasta- a bit bland, one of the ingredients was Thai Basil but they didn't cut out all the stems so they were hard to chew. I wish they also cut the basil a bit more to make it easier to chew. My plate was 1:3 mushroom and basil and 2:3 pasta, there was also these crunchy pieces that were really salty like little toppings. I wish it was a bit more mixed in. We decided we needed to try the whiskey cake- the cake was delicious, warm, caramel, topped with pecans that are candied. It came with a separate bowl of homemade whipped cream which was delicious! First thing after a hard morning, being very hungry, search the map for a place close recommended for good burgers. I chose this one. It was on my way home. being an older female alone, entered the restaurant in mid afternoon four Ish, quiet time of the day. I noticed they had happy hour from early afternoon until six with small burgers and I thought that would be good for me as I'm a small person. The water came , later the lemon after a bit, the burger shows up on the plate with some very hard crumbs of french fries beside it. They looked and tasted like the extreme salty bottom of the barrel that's left over after earlier . the waiter finally shows up again, asked hostess to bring him. I explained the french fries seemed very hard and dry looked like scraps . I noticed other customers plates came a different way with which I posted a picture of mine versus the way they were normally served. He said OK and left a little while later he shows up with more french fries this time in the nice little cup. They normally come. A burger was mediocre at best , very dry even with cheese and whatever they put on it french fries still were not outstanding. By the time they got there, the meat was already cold.. Felt like very unwelcome. I would not recommend $18 on a simple, not very good burger and fries less than a fast food restaurant. Sorry I had wanted to try this place for a long time. Which causes the bottom of the bun to become soggy right away. Who wants to eat a soggy burger? Not me. The better idea is to have the beef jus on the side. My salmon was solid, it tasted like lemon pepper salmon. The fish was cooked just fine and it was buttery & flaky. I was not a fan of their chowder broth that was in the dish. Flavors were odd and it had a bad sour aftertaste. Chelsey saw the disappointment on my face & offered to bring out the same dish without the chowder. I told her I'll just put my fish and potatoes on a separate plate. The cake was fairly decent but a little too dense for my liking. It was sweet but their house made whip cream balanced it out. It also says that it has whiskey in the cake, I didn't really get that at all. At the end I decided to stay since Chelsey provided amazing service & ordered one of their cocktails. I got the Manhattan & my friend had their Long Island ice tea. Presentation wise it wasn't pretty. I expected since the restaurant has "Whiskey" in their name that they made a manhattan look better.
