Had a great experience at Whiskey Cake in Stafford yesterday. My family treated me a fantastic brunch for Father's Day weekend. My wife and I have been to WC several times before for lunch, happy hour, and dinner but this was our first time for brunch. We had 1pm reservations and the sky looked like it was going to pour down ran any moment. Our hostess was very kind and let us pick the table we wished to sit in order to get a good view of the bar and windows to keep an eye on the weather and the arrival of our family members. Our server, Dane, was in top form and gave us suggestions for a starter. We were torn between the Jalapeno-gouda biscuits, Candied Bacon and other tasty sounding dishes and quickly agreed the Goat Cheese Fondue. The dish arrived shortly after our whole party was seated. Dane had great presentation as he drizzled olive oil over the steamy, bubbling cheese dish that looked amazing, smelled wonderful, and tasted even better. Melted goat goat cheese with a blend of olives, roasted tomatoes, garlic confit and thyme that we generously spread over warm toast points. It was all devoured in no time. Dane returned to clear our plates and took our order. The brunch menu is an exploration in so many things to suit your breakfast or lunch craving. We ordered the Strawberry Short Stack, the Hangover Burger, Brunch Sandwich, and the Steak and Egg Hash. Out of curiosity we also ordered a side of the Green Chile Cheese Grits. My wife and I love to share so the Strawberry Short Stack and Brunch Sandwich were perfect for dividing. Those pancakes are picture perfect, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Interestingly, Dane had asked if we wanted the toppings of strawberry compote, vanilla anglaise, whipped strawberry butter, and lemon shortbread crumble on the side so we could control the sweetness. For us that was the perfect suggestion as we were able to individually taste each accoutrement to build our perfect bite. The Brunch Sandwich was fantastic. Sometimes a breakfast sandwich can appear to be unwieldy but in this case it was manageable to cut in half and handle appropriately, The everything bagel was the right vehicle for this savory bite of fried-medium egg, layered with applewood smoked bacon, pickled Fresno peppers (for nice pop of spice), greens, american cheese, and a garlic-basil aioli. I didn't taste the Hangover Burger nor the Steak and Egg Hash, perhaps because I was a bit gorged on the pancakes and sandwich but the dishes looked amazing and I have a mental shortlist for the next time we dine at WC. Oh, and I did mention that we were curious about the Green Chile Cheese Grits. Out of this world! Those grits stole the show. We all kept commenting on them. Get them. You will be rewarded. When we dine we always expect good food. For us, service is the reason to come back. Dane was an outstanding server. He had personality and hospitality which is rare these days. He was conversationally engaging. He never lingered too long, always seemed to anticipate what we might need, politely asking to clear plates. Hat's off to Dane. This looks to be a great business / client meeting spot. With a wide open bar area and plenty of room this building can easily host large parties while still maintaining intimate space for date night couples. Great ambience and seating areas off the lounge if they get on a wait. While we were immediately sat the hiccup occurred a few times with service. Off the start no one came to the table for over ten minutes and then only to pour us water. Wasn't even sure was the server as no introduction or welcome was made. Same person returned about 8 minutes later and grabbed a drink order(1 beer. 1 NA beer) which arrived ten minutes later. We put in app order at that point and were not given the chance to put in dinner order. Apps candied bacon and Brussels sprouts were excellent and during check back we placed dinner order. Service missed drink refill ask. Had to flag down a different person to get second round of drinks. Believe a manager. Those drinks came out about 5 minutes later but only One beer. Server arrived with entries about ten minutes later and I pointed out I did not get the NA beer. Entree was pork chop and burger. Both again were excellent. Overall had services been on point easy five star and I definitely would be back to entertain good clients as this is a good experience but not at high end steak house prices. Went to Whiskey Cake last night for a late dinner and really enjoyed the overall vibe. The atmosphere was surprisingly calm and quiet for the evening, which made it a great spot to hang out and catch up with our group. Our waitress was such a sweet and helpful person--super attentive and made the experience even better. We had a larger party, so we got to try a wide range of dishes. I ordered the steak frites with a side of Brussels sprouts and an order of the crab fritters. Overall, the food was pretty solid. The steak frites came with a really nice chimichurri sauce that paired well with the dish. The fries were on the soggier side, but that's more of a personal preference. The only real miss for me was the Brussels sprouts. They had a strange vinegar-like aftertaste that just didn't hit right and honestly felt like something that shouldn't be consumed. We came in on a cold Sunday afternoon and so had the place almost to ourselves. It was very quiet. The service was excellent and Dane is an amazing server. He is entertaining and professional. Only change would be the fish not be placed directly on the fries due to grease dripping on them. Other than that no changes! Omg and the cake was so good! We were so full we didn't even finish it. I went to Whiskey Cake Stafford TX so excited as this place has great food, whiskey and people working. Husband and I were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Carl was our server and he continued the great hospitality that Whiskey cake is known for. We started with the Goat cheese fondue with toasted bread. All ingredients are sourced locally. Great location! We were seated right away and with a smile as soon as we entered. The table was clean. There was a large group next to us talking loudly, but that was fine. The menu is smaller now, but it has some really good items on it. This specialized deviled egg was French onion flavored and it was so good. The French onion burger and fries were also delicious. The steak free with the Parmesan fries was spectacular. Hands-down, I would get that again. And we finished off with some whiskey cake as we couldn't pass that up. And it was delicious as always. The Candied Bacon tasted exactly like how it sounded like it would taste: amazing. The Bone-In Pork Chop was huge but perfectly cooked. It was tender, and the carrots were flavorful. I did go later in the evening but still a chill vibe. Started with their Deviled eggs, I probably wouldn't get them again. It had a lot going on for my preference. Everything came out in a timely manner- they were super busy but we had a good server and greatly good service. The mocktail was good- I wish it had more ginger beer but not bad! And it was larger than I thought it was going to be for $5 My husband ordered the Smokey old fashion which was pretty cool, the waiter added smoke to it but setting this skull thing on fire . My husband liked his drink! Pasta- a bit bland, one of the ingredients was Thai Basil but they didn't cut out all the stems so they were hard to chew. I wish they also cut the basil a bit more to make it easier to chew. My plate was 1:3 mushroom and basil and 2:3 pasta, there was also these crunchy pieces that were really salty like little toppings. I wish it was a bit more mixed in. We decided we needed to try the whiskey cake- the cake was delicious, warm, caramel, topped with pecans that are candied. It came with a separate bowl of homemade whipped cream which was delicious! Melt in your mouth! Overall, whiskey cake is not the best for vegetarians!! I wish they had more options, the one option was too bland for me to come back. We stopped in for dinner before a show at Stafford Center. Since it is a chain restaurant, I was expecting a decent if not necessarily special dining experience. We ordered the fish and chips, and boy was I surprised! It was fantastic. The general manager had stopped by our table after we ordered and described how they make the f&c with haddock, beer batter and homemade malt vinegar. I have had this dish many times, including in the UK, and the f&c at Whiskey Cake is the best I've ever had. Highly recommend! And their Whiskey Cake is not to be missed. We will return. read more

The batter was crispy and seasoned well, the dipping sauce was tangy. My friend burger was decent but I don't like the idea of the sauce drenching around the burger. Which causes the bottom of the bun to become soggy right away. Who wants to eat a soggy burger? Not me. The better idea is to have the beef jus on the side. My salmon was solid, it tasted like lemon pepper salmon. The fish was cooked just fine and it was buttery & flaky. I was not a fan of their chowder broth that was in the dish. Flavors were odd and it had a bad sour aftertaste. Chelsey saw the disappointment on my face & offered to bring out the same dish without the chowder. I told her I'll just put my fish and potatoes on a separate plate. The cake was fairly decent but a little too dense for my liking. It was sweet but their house made whip cream balanced it out. It also says that it has whiskey in the cake, I didn't really get that at all. At the end I decided to stay since Chelsey provided amazing service & ordered one of their cocktails. I got the Manhattan & my friend had their Long Island ice tea. Presentation wise it wasn't pretty. I expected since the restaurant has "Whiskey" in their name that they made a manhattan look better. The drink was strong but lacked in elegances. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't amazing either, however I'll definitely return since our server was awesome. read more

My sandwich was "just ok" and I ate about half. Wife indicated that her chicken was good but the veggies were overcooked. Service was haphazard and we were not offered drinks "just water". Noticed later that several folks were enjoying soft drinks. Then came the supposed star of the night - the whiskey cake. Turned out to be somewhat dry and the whipped creme non-existant. However, the bar is beautiful, and from my vantage point, they had the type of whiskies a girl like me would enjoy. The food was traditional with just enough of a twist that it makes you curious enough to want to come back. I was very pleased with the service when my husband and I went here as the waiter was excellent and now a days it's hard to find decent waiters.
