Having been here a handful of times after going to its sibling Tornado Burger for years, this place always hits the spot. Whether its their birria tacos or their street fiesta tacos, it's packed with flavor every time. I will say though, the bold flavor also means it's quite greasy and heavy. They make Taco Bell and Taco Cabana feel like "clean eating". There is some outdoor seating, but I've never seen anyone out there. This is pretty much exclusively drive-thru only. Depending on when you go, there could be no one there or a line wrapped around and out onto Murphy/FM 1092. Why so low? We ordered two items and one was frankly awesome. The chicken taco made with chicken beast. Ordered two and really well done. My friend, she ordered a bowl. Specifically all the veggies no mushroom. Now sauces except guac. Especially no sour cream, no queso or liquid type cheeses. What did we get? Mostly queso with some lettuce. I ordered one breakfast taco with egg, cheese, potato, and beans. The lady who took my order asked if I wanted mild, spicy, or bold salsa- I went with spicy, which was a green salsa (tomatillo I think?). The taco was kind of bland. I was worried it would be overly salty but it was quite the opposite. The ingredients, however, did taste fresh and of good quality. The tortilla was also very good. Normally good. Today I ordered barbacoa tacos and asked if they included pinions and cilantro with them and I'm guessing Daniel who was taking our order said that they charge a dollar for that. I mentioned that I've never been charged before for cilantro and onions and he asked if I had a receipt to show that. SMH! Ridiculous! Let's start with star of the show... the food* we came to get their birria plate, one burrito, and a beans and rice... The burrito: beef, rice, beans, pico Flavor profile: salt and pepper (very much pepper steak from any Chinese restaurant) just as soft but also oddly chewy... Presentation: burrito was about 2-2.5 inches wide wrapped in a 12 inch flour tortilla a bit on the small side for the price but no complaints other than that. Final take: the flavor of any beef in a Mexican/tex Mex taco spot should not be heavy black pepper and salt... it should have nuance, some garlic paprika even cumin... this had none of that the rice had the color none of the flavor and the beans were flat... Birria plate: beef birria quesadillas, side of rice, side of charro beans* The birria quesadillas: cheese beef birria fried corn tortilla. Flavor profile: grease forward salty but at least had flavor, that being said the flavor wasn't the best, the only saving grace was the hot sauce that I added, the rice was once again disappointing, and the charro beans... one word (mush) Final take: these are almost good, once again the rice and beans fell flat, but they're also the reason I didn't give a 1 star review. Beans and rice: once again... flavorless Final take: my daughter likes the cheese sprinkled on top. Stopped by for lunch on a whim and I am glad we did. Had the street tacos with no complaints. The spicy salsa is actually spicy, and the little tacos had plenty of meat (barbacoa, ground beef, pork). My boyfriend and I came across this place while driving home the other day and decided to give it a try. I ordered the fajita nachos and my boyfriend ordered birria quesadillas. The nachos were a 10/10 with the meat being so tender and flavorful! The birria quesadillas on the other hand had a weird aftertaste. Either the consome or the birria itself just left a weird taste in both of our mouths. It was tender and you could tell the flavor was there but we couldn't get over the aftertaste. Now for the horchata- honestly this was the worst horchata we have ever had. It was so sweet and tastes just like condensed milk and cinnamon. The color was light brown/tan rather than white which is different than any other horchata I have had. We will definitely give this place another try and just not order the horchata or anything with birria in it. I definitely want to try their burritos and would get the fajita nachos again read more
