My great aunt and her sister in law come here once a month! They are treated so well, staff is friendly, remembers their order and remains very attentive.

Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti and marinara

Great restaurant! Don't let the neighborhood fool you; elegant interior, excellent service, truly upscale food. An unexpected gem in a shopping center. Even the bathrooms are reflective of a Well worth a visit even if somewhat out of your way!

Ray was our server who is evidently brand new, but he was just the right level of attentive! This was our first visit but we will be back. The restaurant was small but tables were nicely spaced so you don't feel on top of others and the tables were a little larger I felt. Atmosphere was nice! I would imagine if it was full it would be noisy but we arrived a little after 5 and there were maybe 5 tables and a few at the bar. My husband got the lobster bisque and really enjoyed it. I had the chicken piccata and it was amazing! The flavor of the chicken and sauce was very bright and tasty. My husband got the pasta Alex which has crab and sausage, he said it was very good and filling. We both had leftovers! We also enjoyed the complimentary bread and oil. Overall a great experience, nice find without the drive. Prices are also very reasonable.

Super friendly staff and bartender. Food was excellent. The fried green tomato was the only dish I wasn't really a fan of. The sauce was great but I wished they slice the tomatoes thinner and then fry it, the only place I've had good fried green tomatoes was rouxpour, and they don't serve it anymore . The other dishes we ordered were amazing. We had the seafood pasta, the snapper, Brussels sprouts, and the waygu burger, the carrot cake and chocolate cake.

Sea bass with veggies instead of risotto.
Carmen S.

Sea bass was so good... it was cooked perfectly. It had a crust on outside that was so good & the inside was just buttery like a well cooked sea bass should be. It was lightly seasoned so if you only ate the sea bass by itself you could say it wasn't seasoned enough. However, with the fish sitting on top of grilled vegetables (instead of risotto per the menu) and root veggies, plus the sauce, the flavors complement each other so well. Also it was a nice portion size. I ate every morsel & I was full. Full bar & decent wine list by glass & by bottle. Wine bottles are poured into a nice glass carafe & placed on the table. Server was attentive. Casual decor inside, yet had table cloths. Lots of art pics on the walls. This is a great neighborhood dining spot.

Wonderful surprise in Missouri City! Had the Alex's Pasta with crab and sausage which was amazing. Husband had the brisket ravioli also with excellent review! Very quaint and nice service staff.

Hangar steak, fries and roast brussel sprouts.

Really very, very good and highly recommend. This is a cute little place located at the end of a strip center. They have adorable chandeliers, a small bar area and a few televisions. I ordered the Hangar Steak, with fries and roasted brussel sprouts (which were fabulous and the only ones I have found that I loved...thus far). The steak was perfectly cooked, medium rare and was delicious! Oh, and the bread and olive oil were also super on point! Drinks were good and service impeccable. I will definitely return soon!

I absolutely love Alex's Kitchen. Discovered this spot a couple years back. I'd describe it as "casual fine dining" within the neighborhood in Missouri City. From the exterior, it is very unassuming. Once you enter, it's like a nice cozy sit-down restaurant that is not too formal, but not too casual. I'd say this would be a great date spot, while also being family friendly. Service is always the best, attentive, courteous and accommodating. We just mentioned that our kids would share the ravioli and they just brought it out on two separate plates. That was a very nice touch. My favorite go-to is the Pasta Alex and my bride loves the Cioppino, which is a seafood stew. The kiddos love the Braised Beef Short Rib Ravioli. Parking is ample and convenient. The only issue is it's a quaint place and not too large, so it gets quite busy during prime time. We tend to go earlier with the kids in tow anyway, so we've never had to wait. I cannot recommend Alex's enough. Support local, support the neighborhood, support good food.

I don't know what happened but my dish was salty as heck. Everyone else I was with I tasted it and it was good except mine. I didn't want to tell them but I should have.

Lucky I had this great clam chowder.

I really, really wanted to give this place a 5 star rating. I love to see family owned businesses…read moresucceed, but things just didn't work out that way for us today. They have a few service kinks that need to be worked out and the consistency of the food seasoning needs to be checked. When we entered we were greeted by a sweet lady we later found out was Miss Mary (the owner and chef) herself. She seated us and let us know that since it was the first time she'd ever been open on a Tuesday, she hadn't prepared the full menu. Hubby ordered the smothered pork chop, broccoli and cheese, pinto beans and ranch dressing on his salad. I ordered chicken fried steak, broccoli and cheese, and cabbage. Unfortunately, they did not have bleu cheese or thousand island dressing, so I settled for ranch dressing on my salad. After eating my meal I ordered banana pudding for dessert. Here's how it all turned out: *salad - fresh and handmade , not from a package, had pieces of chopped strawberry that added a tasty twist, plenty of dressing served on the side which I like because most places are skimpy and I have to ask for more * pork chop- very good, great flavor, best part of hubby's meal, it also came with white rice that was not mentioned on the menu, but was fluffy and had good taste * pinto beans- no bacon, salt pork, onion, tomato or any of the typical things you find in beans. Just bland tasting beans and after two bites he didn't eat any more *broccoli and cheese - broccoli was perfectly steamed with crisp texture, but cheese sauce was from a jar or can and ruined the taste so we didn't eat it *cabbage-perfectly steamed, good flavor with a little kick that burned my tongue, but I like spicy so I enjoyed it *chicken fried steak- a real piece of meat not a preformed patty, however it was tough and had several pieces of gristle that I could not chew, it was covered with generous amount of white peppered gravy that was way too salty *cornbread- dense and dry *banana pudding - unlike any other banana pudding I've ever eaten, it had a browned meringue on top, excellent taste and my favorite part of the meal Before and during our meal, Miss Mary and our waitress disappeared to the back for long periods of time. I know Miss Mary was cooking, and our waitress must have been helping or something because there was no one to ask for ketchup or tea refills. Our meal came out one bowl or plate at a time, which I guess was a good thing because each one arrived steaming hot, but all of my husband's food came out before mine. I sat and watched him eat for a bit because I told him not to let his food get cold. We ended up with 8 separate bowls/plates on our table for the two of us by the time it was all said and done. This was after our waitress came out to ask us what else we had ordered because they'd forgotten what our second side order had been (broccoli & cheese). After our meal, we visited with Miss Mary for a bit. She apologized for being scattered and explained that she had not really been prepared since it was the first Tuesday she was open and had not expected to have any business. She was a wonderful lady and we will return in a couple of weeks to see if things have improved.

My personal preference would have been the chicken and waffles but since.I also had the buffet I will review that. Cornbread was to sweet for my taste but the steak was seasoned extremely well with some kind of black pepper and other urbs. Service was kind of clingy due to a low customer turnout on a Sunday. Unfortunately due to a bad location in my opinion this place probably won't be around for very long.

There was plenty of room for pups to spread out, and I saw dogs enjoying themselves both outside and inside the restaurant. It felt like everyone was welcome. Naturally, I ordered from the Pup Menu. I chose the grilled chicken and rice bowl, and I can confidently report that it was excellent. Fresh, simple, and completely disappeared within minutes. The humans seemed happy with their meals too. They ordered a strip steak, salmon, and a salad, and I didn't hear a single complaint from their side of the table. The staff were incredibly friendly and made a point of welcoming me as an actual guest instead of just someone's dog. Between the dedicated dog menu, the spacious patio, and the warm service, it's easy to see why this place is so popular with pet owners. If you're visiting Houston with your dog, Lazy Dog is an easy recommendation. Dogba's verdict: Five paws. Excellent chicken. Outstanding customer service. Finally, a restaurant that knows to hand me a menu first.

My wife and I have been to WC several times before for lunch, happy hour, and dinner but this was our first time for brunch. We had 1pm reservations and the sky looked like it was going to pour down ran any moment. Our hostess was very kind and let us pick the table we wished to sit in order to get a good view of the bar and windows to keep an eye on the weather and the arrival of our family members. Our server, Dane, was in top form and gave us suggestions for a starter. We were torn between the Jalapeno-gouda biscuits, Candied Bacon and other tasty sounding dishes and quickly agreed the Goat Cheese Fondue. The dish arrived shortly after our whole party was seated. Dane had great presentation as he drizzled olive oil over the steamy, bubbling cheese dish that looked amazing, smelled wonderful, and tasted even better. Melted goat goat cheese with a blend of olives, roasted tomatoes, garlic confit and thyme that we generously spread over warm toast points. It was all devoured in no time. Dane returned to clear our plates and took our order. The brunch menu is an exploration in so many things to suit your breakfast or lunch craving. We ordered the Strawberry Short Stack, the Hangover Burger, Brunch Sandwich, and the Steak and Egg Hash. Out of curiosity we also ordered a side of the Green Chile Cheese Grits. My wife and I love to share so the Strawberry Short Stack and Brunch Sandwich were perfect for dividing. Those pancakes are picture perfect, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Interestingly, Dane had asked if we wanted the toppings of strawberry compote, vanilla anglaise, whipped strawberry butter, and lemon shortbread crumble on the side so we could control the sweetness. For us that was the perfect suggestion as we were able to individually taste each accoutrement to build our perfect bite. The Brunch Sandwich was fantastic. Sometimes a breakfast sandwich can appear to be unwieldy but in this case it was manageable to cut in half and handle appropriately, The everything bagel was the right vehicle for this savory bite of fried-medium egg, layered with applewood smoked bacon, pickled Fresno peppers (for nice pop of spice), greens, american cheese, and a garlic-basil aioli. I didn't taste the Hangover Burger nor the Steak and Egg Hash, perhaps because I was a bit gorged on the pancakes and sandwich but the dishes looked amazing and I have a mental shortlist for the next time we dine at WC. Oh, and I did mention that we were curious about the Green Chile Cheese Grits. Out of this world! Those grits stole the show. We all kept commenting on them. Get them. You will be rewarded. When we dine we always expect good food. For us, service is the reason to come back. Dane was an outstanding server. He had personality and hospitality which is rare these days. He was conversationally engaging. He never lingered too long, always seemed to anticipate what we might need, politely asking to clear plates. Hat's off to Dane. Thank you Whiskey Cake for delivering a great dining experience to kick-off Father's Day weekend. We will be back.
