Nice place overall, and the staff were super nice and helpful. We stayed in cottage #16, but probably wouldn't choose that one again. The patio was a bit dark and dingy, with a dirty table, broken blinds inside, and a door and screens that needed fixing. The best part though was the end of the dock -- loved the little Tiki area where you can sit, fish, or just relax watching the boats go by. read more

Don't give these people your money. Rude Hispanic lady at the front desk, nothing but attitude from her. We had to practically beg for extra bath towels. There was a large black scorpion in the sleeper sofa and red ants in the beds, they didn't seem to care when we mentioned these things. We have an 18 month old with us and we are lucky she didn't get stung or bit. Wall AC units had dirty filters and the floors feel like they were cleaned with maple syrup. Overpriced for the quality of room too. Not enough silverware in the efficiency units, so bring your own. Awful, we wouldn't stay in this place again if they paid us too. The only nice thing about it is the view and the hammocks in the common area. read more

For the price and waterfront location you'd really have a tough time beating the Keys atmosphere and accommodations of Kon -Tiki Resort. It's kind of a 1950's time toss back to the individual cabin days before the advent the common wall constructed motor court motels. And best of all, these cabins are big, clean, peacefully quiet and comfortable. My cabin had a complete kitchen with a high chair bar setup, good sized bedroom with double queens (that's queens as in "bed size," not the boys) living room with TV and sofa, large refrigerator and simple but adequate bathroom. The office staff are most pleasant and have sales of ice, water and varying soda. The areas for parking have extra-large spaces. So no need to worry about getting your car dinged by others when loading or unloading. read more

Can't say enough wonderful things about this place! It was the absolute perfect spot and we can't wait to come back. We came for a wedding and we're able to get connecting rooms with some of my family. That was such a bonus! The beds were very comfortable, staff was awesome. Stay away, we had to leave after two days of a five day booking due to filth, worms and ants. Should be condemmed by Board of Health. Killed over 60 ants, bugs and worms (In bed too) after first day. Shower had 10-12 ants in it as well as black mold as my wife went to shower, then after talking to the lady at the front desk, she just laughed and said things are what they are. To many other good places to stay in Islamorada so do yourself a favor and go some where else. read more

Came down from Boston a week before Thanksgiving. I'm writing this review as a blizzard rages on outside, just dreaming of the weekend my family and I spent down there. The resort was incredibly clean. Customer service was great, super helpful. There are awesome hammocks to chill out in under palm trees by the heated pool. The beds in the room could definitely use an upgrade, but otherwise the other amenities were acceptable. There were plenty of dishes and utensils in our room, A/C was good too. The best part of staying here for me (aside from the perfect weather, beautiful view, amazing pool) was the wildlife. The first night we were there, we were sitting around the table by the end of their docks where there's a spotlight on the water (good spot for boats, my cousin had his docked there for our stay). A 4 foot stingray was hanging out in the water over there. The next night we went down and we saw a shark, twice! So cool! There's also a bunch of mini jellies in that area, and some were in the little closed off lagoon area they have, too. There are iguanas running around and there's cranes, too. I'm not going to see any of this around here unless I go to an aquarium or the zoo. My family and I are definitely planning our next trip back here for some time this year. I am definitely missing it right now as the snow continues on outside. read more

Kon-Tiki is a great find. A real old fashioned, family Keys place. They have several buildings scattered across the property surrounded by beautiful landscaping. Most of the rooms are in two unit buildings on the ground floor. We stayed in a one bedroom bay-front unit with a screened porch and a deck. It was heaven. They have their own boat ramp and docks so there are a lot of fishermen staying there. They also have a pool, a small beach area, and a nice palm grove with picnic tables, bbq's and hammocks. The room was extremely large and could easily accommodate 4, two in the bedroom and two on the foldout couch. There was a full kitchen and two bathrooms. One of the bathrooms was a little funky with a 60's era huge whirlpool grotto. Very Northern California. The resort (and I use that word loosely) is within easy walking distance to the Green Turtle Inn and the Islamorada Fish Company. They are not big on service, the office closes at 7:00pm and after that no one is around. But if you can manage without room service the place is great. read more

Since we live in Ft Lauderdale, we go to the Keys quite often. Con-Tiki Resort was always our go-to place to spend a night or two. Besides looking like it hasn't had a good cleaning in a while, there was a coffee pot in the bathroom. Figuring we'd get up and make coffee in the morning, I thought we were good-to -go. Was I ever wrong. There was nothing there except the pot. Went down to the office and they didn't open till 8 AM. Really? We had to go out to the store a few miles away and buy coffee, creamer and sugar. Upon leaving the hotel, I went to the office and asked the girl if there was a change in management. She was very rude and couldn't care less. That was the last time we will step foot on the property. read more

This place is perfect! We are in apt space #4 and we have a great room, screened porch, and deck!!! All looking out on the great little lagoon pond and pool. The management took care of things to help my son and I when we needed help!! I felt cared for And, for anyone who knows about water pressure in the keys/-- this place has better pressure than anywhere I've been down here....I was able to actually rinse the shampoo out- down here with long hair like mine- it's like a goldmine!! I've been going to the Kon Tiki for decades, & just got back to the eternal snow of northern NJ last Friday. Except for the cold snap, it was spectacular to swim and paddle board every day, and the word is that they may get kayaks for guest use. I've stayed in the "older" units, but there are some that have fully renovated kitchens and updated baths. Units 15 and 16 are the ones I'm familiar with, but ask at the desk when you book to see if others have been renovated. It's great - really like old Florida, and dockage is a rarity. The manager, George, can seem a bit heavy handed, but he's really just looking after the guest security and keeping interlopers out when he stops to check on you. The place has had it's ups and downs, but the grounds are currently in beautiful shape. Oh yeah, and a free washing machine a dryer behind the pool. So nice! We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, it was clean and nice. The grounds are perfectly kept and we enjoyed a swim in the heated pool. Hammocks on the beach, a dock for watching the sunset. Very low key resort. Very old school Florida Keys resort, but that's what we were looking for. We stayed in a basic unit which had two beds, a bathroom with shower, a microwave and small refrigerator. They also have larger units with kitchens, etc. The Wi-Fi was strong and accessible all over the resort. If you have a boat, you can bring it here and they have a dock and a boat ramp. They have a heated pool which we didn't use and a shuffleboard court. The dock has lights on it which allowed us to view lots of sea life. We saw lots of fish, squid, a crab, a cuttlefish and a nurse shark from the dock at night. They don't have an ice maker, but sell bags of ice onsite. The resort was quiet, although I imagine that it may be a little noisier when the resort is full. Only issue was that I asked for no room service because we didn't need it, but they came in anyway. I would request a do not disturb sign next time. The location was in central Islamorada on the bay side. We would stay here again. read more

Favorite spot to stay in the keys! Great boat ramp, floating dock, sunset views & good vibes!

Our family has been going to the Kon-Tiki Resort since 1995. Although there have been several managers throughout the years, they were always friendly, willing to accommodate your needs, and most importantly make your stay pleasant. This kind of hospitality deserves five stars. That has now changed. I recently called to inquire about vacancies and available dates to take my boat and family, and the current female manager was extremely rude. When I asked her about specific dates, and vacancies, she answer very rudely and immediately hung up the phone. I then called back, and although she identified her self as the "manager", she continued to be very rude and unwilling to help. Is a shame, to have someone with this kind of an attitude and rudeness be in charge of such a beautiful place. Is time for another change!! read more

Great Mom & Pop/Old Florida Keys style resort. They're located on the bay side and have a number of different buildings and rooms available. They also have a dock so it is accessible by boat as well. If you're looking for the Ritz, this is not it. If you're looking for a no-nonsense, very Keys-y place to hang your hat while you're gallivanting around Islamorada, this is it! I lived in the Keys for 3 years and after hearing about all the damage from Hurricane Irma, I wanted to take a visit to support the community as I heard the tourist population was way down. My parents and I stayed at the Kon Tiki Resort from 21-23 December 2017 and were very happy with the stay. Jennifer greeted us on the 21st and was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in unit 11; which was clean and large enough for the 3 of us. It has a nice screened in porch, the furniture inside the unit was clean and didn't smell of smoke. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. It is a great place for someone who has a boat as they have their own place launch and keep your boat while there. We did not have the opportunity to use the pool but did check out the area and it was very clean. The only drawback was the A/C in unit #11 is very loud! It did cool the place down but was super noisy. Of course the "piss ants" as I call them never fail to show up. As long as we kept the counters dry and clear of any food (we stored in the fridge and microwave) we were able to control them. We did not see any other bugs and I know after living in the Keys that these teeny, tiny ants are everywhere. I would recommend staying here and would definitely come back for another visit. read more

Woman at desk was not very friendly and threatening when the number in our party changed. Told us they were sold out. Base on what we saw the next morning more than half of the complex was empty. She acted like she was doing us a favor by having another room available and honored no discounts. She ruined our opinion of what was one of our favorite places. Had to beg for two extra bath towels. My son opened up the sleeper sofa and found a live scorpion where they baby was sitting earlier. The next morning my son-in-law complained about something crawling on him in the bed during the night. Pulled the sheets back and he found a red ant. Have the pictures to prove it. George we're sorry you weren't there, you provided us a much better experience. read more

One of the "cheaper" places on the island, however not worth the expensive price. Nice management, quiet, and clean location. But there was a major Ant problem in the bathroom, no soap or shampoo offered. Very old furniture and appliances that look worn and dirty. Wifi did not work at all. Air conditioning unit was sputtering. Kitchen unit had minimal dishes for preparing a dinner but not enough. Bay waterfront view is nice, lounge chairs are old and dirty. Pool bottom looks moldy and makes the water look dirty. Lots of fish, birds, and wildlife around. This place is comparable to a camping cabin but shouldn't be at 5times the price! read more

My Wife and I plus our 2 children with some friends, stayed at this wonderful Keys Resort to celebrate my wife's birthday for 4 days before our kids went back to school in August (15th to 19th), we brought our boats, we live in Ft Lauderdale and visit the keys often and for many years, but had never stayed at the KonTiki. It is the quintessential Florida keys location, with everything that you need to get the best of the Florida Keys with great restaurants close by, the Morada Bay was fantastic and right next door to the KonTiki, we had my wife's birthday dinner there out on the sand, everyone loved it. The rooms were spotless and the staff was really friendly and welcoming,George the manager and the young lady in the office were fantastic and made our stay memorable. They have a boat ramp plus boat trailer parking available. This resort is really well located close to the best fishing, diving, both bayside and ocean, our 12 year old caught her first lobster and was so excited, our children loved this place, they caught fish from the dock in the evening and loved the pool also. We loved sitting out at the end of the dock in the evening watching the sunset across the bay with our cocktails. This resort has it all, we will return often, we cant wait to go back. Just stayed 2 nights end of Feb 2014. Seemed expensive but is Florida Keys in high season. Beautiful setting and notwithstanding some minor things like no shampoo, the people operating this resort are both real & very genuine. They will treat you well & you will feel special. Of course leaving my glasses behind but getting them through their superb efforts a couple of days later has nothing to do with my comments...:-), right? This place is horrible! i knew it was a problem when i made the reservation and the young lady that i spoke with stated the office would be closed at night and that the keys to our room would be located in the mail box of the main office and to just check in the next morning. I dont know where the word resort comes to place in this hotel. No bars no exiting things going on in this place and basically like walking through a graveyard all day and night. I think if i were 70 years old i would see value in this hotel. read more

We were nervous based on the recent bad reviews, but we were happy to find this small retro style resort as nice as it was many years ago. (Our last visit was over 10 years ago) The new staff was so nice! The grounds were well manicured. The room, bathroom and pool were clean and well maintained. A good wi-fi signal all around. There's a shaded palm tree lawn with charcoal grills, picnic tables & shuffleboard. Plenty of hammocks, lounge chairs and quiet places to spread out and relax for the day. We found the Keys and traffic have become so congested, so we really enjoyed the spacious & uncrowded property!! If you're looking for frills and amenities then this is not your place. But, if you want to simply relax the old fashion way... ( a good book or fishing pole and plenty of peace and quiet) I think you've found your happy place. read more
