We recently stayed at Sunset Inn in Islamorada and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the room was clean and well-maintained, and the check-in process was very smooth and hassle-free, which we appreciated after a long day of travel. However, we felt that the property is quite highly priced for what it offers. Unfortunately, our comfort was affected by a few issues in the room--the bed made noticeable noise even with slight movement, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, the air conditioner was quite loud, adding to the disturbance. Well known and respected member of the community, the Sunset Inn was an interesting stay Easy with check-in, parking was a breeze, and the unit was accessible to physically challenged. The hotel itself was very clean, and the room looked like it was recently remodeled. The bed had a European style bottom on it where I kept hitting my ankle and toes. The mattress was kind of soft, but the pillows were really nice and comfortable. The bathroom looked rather old, and the shower itself didn't have a door on it. So you risk getting water onto the bathroom on the floor when you're just taking a normal shower. I liked the rear room door which led to the pool area. The pool was a saltwater type and very inviting. This was a major plus for this Inn. Get the towels from the front office and pick a nice spot around the pool. This area really was well done Shopping is a breeze with the Publix grocery store just one mile south. Many great choices for restaurants are all within 2 miles. There are no places to cook inside the unit, but there is a microwave outback in case you wanna warm something. A small refrigerator is provided along with a coffee maker and Keurig coffee pods. Try not to book a room facing the street, as it gets rather noisy at night. Also, foot traffic during was rather loud up until midnight. There is a great value in staying here as the price for rooms are very reasonable. I think I paid $136 for the night. The two women at check-in were very polite and attentive to my needs. Questions were answered, I think I would stay here again if I didn't have a room up against the highway. Be sure to inquire first. read more

A cute little motel right on the highway in Islamorada. The outside doesn't look like much, but the rooms appear to be newly remodeled. They are simple but modern. They have a pool area which was really nice. All of the staff we encountered were nice as well. The only downside is that there are no elevators so beware if you have heavy luggage! read more

We've stayed 5 nights here and can't wait to visit again. Spacious totally updated room with kitchenette, comfy beds & linens, awesome trendy bathroom with beautiful subway tile, gold fixtures and cute decor. The pool is salt water, super nice deck furniture, towels provided also.We brought our boat and there was great parking. Coffee maker, full fridge & microwave was a bonus. There's beach cruisers and lots of restaurants close by. The staff goes above and beyond with there awesome service. I highly recommend the Sunset Inn! read more

Chris showed us great hospitality, and the location, rooms, and ambiance are wonderful. It is hip but also traditional. It is a motel but with all the amenities you need (pool and AC especially) and a delicious breakfast spot next door. I would recommend it as a perfect stop between Miami and Key West. The sunsets nearby really are awesome. And, you must stop at the Blond Giraffe just minutes away for the best key lime pie. read more

This resort hotel is very cute. It has a long history in the community. The room was very comfortable. The only problem I had with the property is the fact that we didn't have any closet space, not even a rod on a wall. And only 3 small drawers. We were on a road trip so we had a loaded bag, it would have been nice to unpack a little instead of digging around in my bag each day for whatever I needed. This was a nice boutique hotel with a great pool and lounge area. The front desk service was great, and they offered the use of their hotel bicycles. Their bikes were nice, and even included an optional basket for each bike. We rode the bikes all over the area. Plenty of places to walk to, even if it takes 15 minutes. Our hotel room was decent. It was clean, had two queen beds with a dividing wall in between. A small fridge and AC was present. The beds and pillows were comfy. We definitely used the AC unit as it was humid. Since the AC unit was primarily on one side, it didn't really cool the other bed area due to the wall divider. There were definitely a few things I wasn't pleased with. The shower didn't stay hot for a long period of time, so it was hot and then cold after a few minutes. Also, if you're a light sleeper, you can absolutely hear the road noise day or night. Our room was closest to the main road, so you can hear it all. I think if the windows were replaced with dual pane windows, it would help with the noise and keeping room stay cool. Overall, I might stay here again, but not in the rooms close to the main road. read more

We only stayed for one night but what a hidden gem. We absolutely loved it here. It's small but felt very modern & tropical. We enjoyed the pool the most. It was clean & warm enough for my picky 2 year old. It's close to restaurants too. The staff was very friendly in fact, I accidentally locked my keys in the room after hours and a staff member was kind enough to come open it for us at 10pm. We will definitely be back. read more

Overall, the sunset inn is great and good value. The place has recently been remodeled to be very modern, clean and comfortable. Room is clean, updated, lovely. We had 2 queen beds, a tiny bit softer than I'm used to, but comfortable nonetheless. Pool area is the best feature along with the sitting areas outside. Super charming and naturally beautiful. Mangrove Mikes Cafe next door is also amazing with a ton of gluten free and vegetarian options. I took off one star for the following: - room was facing rt 1 so trucks all night going by. Not a huge issue. - AC has a SLIGHT moldy odor when fan is running but it's very mild and I'm super sensitive to scents. - Lobby is still being remodeled so it's a tiny bit off-putting in regards to being welcoming. But check in and check out were both easy. I recommend staying here if you want a really decent place with a pool, a great place to eat right next door at a good value. read more

Takes 6 week to get paid as a Contractor, They also won't pay after Electrical Inspection, Bank has to Inspect, I have nothing to do with Bank, Repeat, like Payment when Services Rendered. Assured me 2 Weeks, again. When I get the checks they are dated AFTER, he said they had been sent. He says US Mail from Miami to Keys may take 8 days. Sent a text showed Tracking Yes, don't know what that means, A Tracking number would be more helpful. You can't get a Tracking number if you don't send. Then abusive when asking "Where's the Check?" My husband and I stopped at the Sunset Inn on our way to Key West. There was plenty of parking and the front desk attendant was very pleasant. She also had suggestions for dinner restaurants. The room was easily accessible and the parking spots were directly in front of the room. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were as well. I should've asked for extra pillows. 4 wasn't enough for my husband and I. I personally believe that the previous people that left not so nice reviews just needed something to complain about. read more

Lovely, clean & quaint. Simple, thoughtful decor. Room and toiletries smelled fresh & crisp, nice open layout with natural light and cozy amenities and outside communal layout. I was able to work from my room, borrow a bicycle to stroll 4 minutes down the back street to watch the sunset at the pier, and rest easily here. Front desk and GM, extremely friendly and helpful. The Sunset Inn is very competitively priced and nicely remodeled. I've stayed there several times. Were it not for the Inn's billing practices, I would give it a 4 star, maybe even a 5 star. I give the Inn a two star because the accounting is dismal. Last year I made a reservation through booking.com, and had to cancel because of Covid travel issues. The refund was within the time limits, and should have been automatic via booking.com. However, the refund was not made, and the only reason I even got it was because I noticed it on my Visa, and called the hotel to request the refund. A few weeks ago I stayed again for 3 days. I made a reservation last October, and the first night's deposit was charged to my Visa. When I checked out my first night's deposit was not credited to the final bill. Fortunately i checked my Visa bill and noticed no credit. It has taken several nonresponsive emails and a phone call to straighten out an error that should never have occurred, and should have been easily fixed. So my advice to potential guests is: enjoy your stay, but review your bill VERY CAREFULLY. read more

Cute little hotel in Islamorada. It is very close to a lot of the great attractions the area has to offer. This hotel just had a remodel and it looks great! Very simple yet modern look with the white & orange on the outside of the building. We had a room with 2 beds. First glance, super clean and larger than expected. Bathroom was clean and had a very up to date feel. One thing to note about the bathroom is you do have a window in the shower area (at least in my room) and it is frosted but you could still see inside, from the outside. ‍ Pool area is very nice, picnic tables and grills are available to use. The ambiance outside is great. Although the pool closes at 8pm you do have a nice outdoor area to sit if you didn't want to be cooped up in your room. They also advertise an ice machine but it has been out of order for a couple of months. (Based on other reviews I've read.) They also offer bike rentals which makes it convenient to check out the nearby breweries. Would recommend! read more
