Over Memorial Day weekend, my family and I stayed with another couple at the Islander Bayside Villas. We love the Islander and have stayed there many times. Unfortunately, this time our wonderful weekend was left tainted. I am currently almost 5 months pregnant and due to medical reasons, I am monitoring my blood glucose levels. I brought my Vitamix Blender so I can keep up with my protein shakes that I need to keep my blood sugar stable. We accidentally left the blender at the unit. As soon we arrived back in Miami, approximately two hours after leaving the unit, I noticed my blender was forgotten and immediately called the resort. They said they would contact housekeeping and get back to us ASAP. I gave them my personal cell phone, as my name was not on the reservation. No one called me back. They texted my friend whom the reservation was under, saying "we have not located it yet but we will be in contact tomorrow once we speak with the housekeeping manager". No one called or reached out to either one of us the next day, therefore I reached out again. This time I had to speak to a new person and explain the situation again, she was familiar with the lost blender and told me "oh yes, I was texting you but I guess I was texting the wrong number. Yea its not there, they searched the unit." Mind you, this is a large heavy blender that was sitting right on the kitchen counter. It is not a small piece of jewelry that easily can go missing and hidden to the eye. I told her I would like to speak with the manager and she told me she will leave him a message and he will reach out most likely tomorrow morning. Well, tomorrow morning came and went, and no one called me. I reached out again in the late afternoon, after much pleading I was finally transferred to a manager by the name of Stuart. Stuart was under the impression that I had left back a small personal sized blender, such as a magic bullet. This is not the case. Stuart assured me he would go and check the unit again and speak with housekeeping and would return to my call. I don't want to blame or insinuate that it was stollen, perhaps housekeeping thought it belonged to the unit and it was placed in a kitchen cabinet. If that were the case, then it would have shown up when they allegedly went to re-inspect the unit. Nonetheless, Stuart said he would go check it again. It is now Thursday 5/28, I have been dealing with this since Monday. Stuart has not returned my call, just like the other staff who "promised" to return my call. I am fully aware that leaving behind a personal item is my fault and things can get lost. But, we are talking about a large heavy item here, and how could it possibly go missing within two hours of leaving the unit. Moreso, I am highly disappointed in the lack of customer service and accountability of the staff. I would have expected someone to actually make an effort to speak to housekeeping, search for the item, and return my call as promised. I understand that the item may be gone, but it really seems as though I am jumping though hoops just to get an answer or even a call back. Its disappointing, especially coming from a resort that prides themselves on being upscale and providing excellent accommodations and customer service. You would think that after paying the prices we paid to stay at this resort, that someone could at least show some remorse and at least return my call as promised, rather than brush me off and say oh sorry yea its gone. This experience the last few days has been nothing short of frustrating and utter disappointment. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful and it feels like you are transported to a tropical island getaway! The property is stunning with so much to do, the mini golf is amazing! The staff has great attention to detail and truly cares. We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary, Christopher & Chef Van provided us with an amazing dinner experience and a complimentary dessert that was so beautiful, I felt bad messing it up and eating it! We had an incredible stay at Islander Resort! This was our first time to Islamorada and Islander Resort was the perfect place to stay. The staff was incredibly friendly, the property was beautiful and well kept, the rooms were newly renovated, and the amenities amazing. We booked our reservation a few months prior. The website wasn't super user friendly but the reviews looked great so we went ahead and booked. The pictures don't do this place justice. We were able to check-in an hour early. The person who checked us in was so welcoming and had many dinner and activity recommendations for us. We then found our room. I loved the layout of the resort. You can park right in front of your room. There are about 6 rooms per block. Everything looked new, the room design was so modern and comfortable, except for our bathroom. I would have thought the shower would have been more updated. I loved that each room had their own private patio. The bed was incredibly comfortable, they had a great AC unit, overall great. My only complaint was that the shower hot water was inconsistent. Sometimes it would take minutes to warm up and the first night we never got hot water. From our room you could walk a sand path down to the pool and beach area. The grounds were stunning, everything is so well maintained. They have a great restaurant, couch seating area with ocean views, beach lounging, pool, dock, basketball court, bikes, and golf putting course right on the water. The two pools were so nice. They have endless fresh towels, an outdoor bar, and the cleanest outdoor style bathrooms I've ever been in. The outdoor bar had a good menu but not the most helpful or efficient bartenders. They had everything you could imagine. They also had pickleball courts which we used many mornings. They also offer fun activities such as movie night on the beach, painting coconuts, science expo, trivia, etc. The resort is a great size. It never felt too crowded, it's not too big, and the quality is very noticable. Overall an amazing stay, we can't wait to come back! read more

Great secluded spot in the Keys. Multiple pools, beach access with free access to paddle board & kayaks, and arguably the best key lime colada I had while on my Florida Keys vacation. Unfortunately when we arrived, there was some sort of maintenance issue in one of the rooms we originally booked which delayed our check in time by a few hours. In reading the reviews, it sounds like maintenance issues are somewhat common. But the customer service was great; they were apologetic and gave us a couple drink coupons for the beach bar (where I discovered the delicious key lime coladas). When the maintenance took longer than expected, they ended up just upgrading one of our rooms to a premium suite. We ended up with probably one of the best rooms in the whole resort- beachfront and equipped with a full kitchen, living room, separate bedroom and soaking tub. Really turned around our day after having to wait several hours to check in. Overall had a lovely stay and even our other basic room was comfortable and spacious. read more

Stayed here again in August 2025, and we got to see the place after all the construction was done, and it was great. The pool that they were working on was great and so were all the activities that were put on the grounds. Every resort should have the golf cart that takes you around to surrounding stores and restaurants. A little disappointed they didn't give the free sunglasses or alcohol like last time. read more

This was our first time here and we will certainly be back! The rooms are renovated and decor is beachy and cute. The rooms have a small desk, mini fridge, TV, couch and a closet with bathrobes. The back patio area is very spacious with a table and chairs for eating as well as a few loungers. The room felt more like a private villa and we loved it! The beach area is rather large with a dedicated swimming area and beach chairs. They have kayaks and paddle boards available, free of charge. They also have bikes which we used and enjoyed. They have the beach setup for cornhole, volleyball, ping pong, basketball, etc. The swimming pool area has two pools- saltwater and chlorine, as well as hot tub. They were undergoing renovations but they still had a bar available and Rachel was making amazing Mai Tais! They have dedicated activities on each day but I believe they may all come with a cost, which wasnt indicated on the daily sheet they provide. We showed up for tie dye and it cost us $20 per shirt. I wasn't thrilled about that but you live and learn. read more

We recently spent 10 days at the Islander Resort in Islamorada, FL; it was our first trip to the Keys after many years of vacationing near Sarasota on the Gulf side of the state. Suffice to say that it was an awesome and wonderful surprise to discover what we have been missing all this time! We arrived right after a complete renovation of both the grounds and lodging had been completed; the results are magnificent! It is a tranquil, lush tropical paradise with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. Our room was a 'poolside cabana room' that gave immediate access to the pool, as well as easy access to the beach & restaurants. The room exceeded all of our expectations, and included a coffee maker, fridge and in-room safe. Waking up to bright, golden sunrises over the ocean each morning never got old! The property is large and affords everyone room to relax while looking out over the ocean in your own personal space without feeling crowded. At night fire pit tables and plush seating areas are a cozy place for a night cap or star gazing. Additionally, one end of the resort offers guests recreational activities such as miniature golf, bocce ball, basketball, bicycles, kayaks, etc. The activity in this area is far enough away to not interfere with the beach & pool serenity. The two beautiful pools offer poolside bar service. Islander Resort offers two on site restaurants Drift & Tides along with a food truck. Tides is a fun, lively outdoor pull-up-a-chair bar scene where casual food is served, while Drift offers a more formal opportunity for breakfast and dinner while enjoying uninterrupted views of the water. All the employees we had the pleasure to meet during our stay made sure we were well taken care of and happy. The resort accommodations were fine, the food was average the drinks were watered down and the service was inconsistent at best. The staff was willing but untrained and unsupervised. The biggest negative was our final bill. Errors and over billing for items included in our "Almost Inclusive" package. Reviewing my bill I found that they had missed a day of food credits and never included the pet fee which is noted in the reservations package. I emailed twice, called twice received a partially corrected folio but they never applied the refund to my credit card. Sloppy, annoying and not worth getting agitated . Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return again myself. July 5th follow up: I received a call from a manager at the Islander today as a follow up to my stay. He (Stuart) apologized, explained that this was a new package they had rolled out and resolved all of my billing issues. I appreciate the follow up and the resolution. Given this current response I am amending my rating to a 4 stars . It's obvious that ownership has invested a lot of $ to enhance the Islander. I believe that with a continued investment in developing the service team they will achieve success. Thank you Stuart for the follow up, service recovery = customer loyalty. We'll be back. read more

We were originally booked for the Bayside villas, when we arrived we were greeted by a large cockroach!! We went back to the Islander front desk and were immediately helped by Angela. She absolutely SAVED our trip!! She did everything she could to make sure we were satisfied. She went above and beyond and was so kind. We were travelling with another couple. She was able to work some magic and get both parties into separate rooms right at the resort. We both stayed in cabana rooms which were great! The only down side was there was no adult pool. We booked a house at the Bayside villas, not realizing that they were almost a mile away from the actual resort. We asked the management if we could switch to a room at the resort, since we have a small child and thought it would be easier than driving back and forth for the pool, restaurants, etc. The staff advised that this was "not fair", even though the we paid more for the villa than a we would have paid for a suite at the resort. This property should be more transparent about the setup of the property. However, the location is convenient if you want to walk to some restaurants and Allison at the front desk of the villas was really helpful and delightful. read more

First time staying at Islander Resort as we wanted a mini getaway. Upon arrival at the lobby, it is clean and service was attentive. There are two pools and a hot tub that overlooks the beach. We didn't try the restaurants as we brought our food. Overall, we had a nice time. Im rating this place a 4 stars as it appears they are super strict on the check in time for 4pm. Our party arrived at 1pm and I was hoping our room would be ready by 2pm since check out is 11am. Suggestion: more umbrellas are needed by the pool area. read more

I recently stayed at this resort and, while the property itself has potential, my experience was unfortunately overshadowed by an encounter with what I believe was a supervisor named Brianna. On the morning in question, around 10:55 a.m., I was seated across the bar, enjoying my coffee and participating in a very important business call. Out of nowhere, I heard her loudly exclaim, "This is f**ing bullshit! If they want me to be a bitch, I can be a bigger bitch."* The language was not only unprofessional but also shockingly inappropriate for a hospitality setting--especially coming from someone in a supervisory role. It was disruptive enough that I had to physically move away to continue my call, which is not what I expect when paying to stay at a resort. As someone in my late 40s who has traveled extensively for both business and leisure, I value professionalism and a welcoming environment. This interaction was neither. Management should be aware of the type of language and demeanor their leadership displays in front of guests, as it directly impacts the reputation of the property. read more

This resort was fantastic! My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. The resort was clean, staff was friendly, room was great and atmosphere was awesome. Their shuttle service was great as well, the gentleman was friendly and it lets you explore everything in a 3 mile radius without having to drive or rely on ride shares. The bar and restaurants were very reasonably priced too! Many other resorts price gouge but they didn't. We did have a couple minor issues but the staff promptly fixed them and were courteous and polite. The only real "problem" is the shower had very little pressure. My wife said it took a while to wash her hair and for me, rinsing the sunscreen off took longer. But overall, not a big issue. We loved it here and cannot wait to return! Highly recommend! read more

Major props to the banquet crew. We were having issues up till the day of the wedding and Zach and Joe were professional and accommodating and saved the day. I do not even know where to begin! We arrived at the resort last Sunday for a one night staycation. In all of the times I have driven to Key West over the years, I must have passed by this place 100 times and never stayed. From the moment we exited the car, we felt like we are at a 5 star resort. I hear they recently renovated, and it shows! Our bungalow was nothing short of spectacular and had a large patio which was perfect for the happy hour charcuterie we enjoyed. The private beach is peaceful and clean, with attendants making sure the sand was nice and the beach was seaweed free. Both pools were relaxing and had comfortable lounge chairs, while the bar area was fully stocked along with a great lunch menu. We had dinner at their restaurant, Drift which was also excellent. I wish we could have stayed a week! I highly recommend coming here if you want a luxury resort- there is no need to leave the premises. I cannot wait to go back! read more

I have to call out Jessica at the Tides outside bar. She was exceptionally pleasant, efficient, and helpful. I highly recommend this resort. I came with my husband to celebrate and enjoy our anniversary and we love it. We wish we had arrived a little earlier to enjoy all the stuff they have inside their resort. Starting for the check-in was easy and the entrance was clean and pretty. The people and service were good, the reception was pretty nice and informative. Parking is easy and close to the amenities. The pool area and beach area were perfect. Enough space, the water was just at the perfect temperature, and the hot tub was nice too. We tried some Po boy fish sandwich at the bar and was perfectly cooked and fresh, the chickennchiplote chowder was good too. The drinks were good and the prices were excellent. Is a perfect place to go for a day or weekend of relaxation, as a couple with the whole family has everything you need in the resort, bikes, volleyball, kayaks, paddleboards...you don't need to go anywhere because this resort is well equipped. read more

We had a very nice stay here. It was supposed to be 2 nights but due to a death in the family we could only come the second night. The staff was very understanding and I truly appreciated it. Upon checking in to the lobby I was greeted by 2 lovely staff members and told about the property. Our room and bathroom were clean, large and very comfortable. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the recent experience my partner and I had during our stay at Islander resort . Our visit, which was meant to be a relaxing getaway, turned into a series of unfortunate incidents that showcased the hotel's severe shortcomings in both customer service and overall management. Upon check-in, we were allocated a room that the staff and management were well aware had pre-existing issues. The TV was malfunctioning, the phone was inoperative, and it was evident that the room wasn't in a condition fit for guests. When we raised these concerns, the offered solution was an inconvenience beyond measure. We were compelled to abruptly relocate rooms in the middle of the night, disrupting our sleep and necessitating the inconvenience of repacking all our belongings. Throughout this ordeal, the lack of proactive assistance or even basic consideration from the management was glaringly evident. There was a profound absence of willingness to rectify the situation or provide any form of compensation or gesture to alleviate our inconvenience. The overall attitude of the staff, especially the management, was not only unhelpful but also dismissive and frustrating. Despite being assured that the manager or the GM would reach out to me daily during our stay, not a single attempt was made to contact me, let alone offer an apology for the inconveniences we faced. In summary, our stay at Islander resort was marred by substandard customer service, a management team that lacked accountability, and a glaring disregard for ensuring guests' comfort and satisfaction. I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts the necessary improvements in your establishment's operations and service delivery to prevent others from enduring similar experiences in the future. Located in the beautiful Keys, but I honestly think everyone working here hates their job. The service sucks, room cleaning sucks, we have a $1000 a night room and the house keeping leaves trash outside. I called to have someone pick up the trash, they never did. I asked 4 time far a chair to be brought to the room, it never was delivered. The bar tenders out loud complain about making drinks calling them pain in the ass drinks. The towel girls are as friendly as a rock. And there is NO beach to speak of. The beach area feels like some concrete with hard packed sand on top. Needless to say, don't waste your time or money here. Rooms are very small for the price. Lastly sitting outside on our porch and all we can smell is the people next-door smoking. Took our concerns to the hotel management and they were useless. Wanted to know the specific times and people we spoke to. Like we keep a conversation log while on vacation. We just got back from vacation and the ocean side we ordered didn't have ac. We moved to the Bayside for there to be bug and beer cans in the room. Or room keys locked us out multiple time which we had to wait for the maintenance man from ocean side. The fire alarm went off at 9pm and 12am untill the local fire and police showed up. I had to clean the pool the 3 days my family wanted to swim. We went down to grill when my son opened the lid and a rat jumped at him. So yes the place is eventful. read more

My family of five stayed at the Bayside Villas. While about a mile from the islander on the bayside, there's a convenient shuttle to go back and forth. We enjoyed the amenities at the Islander for sure--pool, beach, pier, sand vb court, basketball court, bocce ball, etc. Bayside Villas provide easy access to most of IM. Beds were comfy, views gorgeous and Alison at the front desk is amazing! Website describes kitchens as being gourmet--better than the worst Airbnb we've stayed in but gourmet is off the mark--worked for our daily breakfast anyway. I lived in the keys for 8 years. I worked at Playa Largo Resort, Three Waters Resort and Islabella. I remember when the Islander was being built. We were all so excited. I couldn't wait to see what kind of Resort service it was going to bring to the community. I live in Naples now and was going down to the keys to have a vacation. So I booked the Islander. The place and the service was ok, but only ok. We had a problem with our room. It wouldn't lock. When they tried to move us to a different room, it was a downgrade.They did not offer to upgrade and with it being off season, it was not a full resort. So they promised to fix it and we stayed in the original room. It was never fixed for 3 days. We had to go through our back door even though anybody could go in at any time and still our belongings. Then while we were there we never got cleaning services. Front desk probably didn't communicate to their own staff. That they would have to go through the back door. Our family members didn't get cleaning in their room either but they didn't have a problem with their door. In the end, they took the resort fees off of our room, but not our parents' room.
