    Mobile treat truck
    Conrad R.

We attended a kiddie bday party. This Kona Ice independent franchisee arrived to provide icy treats. As the mobile truck backed into the driveway, anxious kiddies began to form a line behind the bday boy. The two-person team running the truck were very friendly and helpful as they quickly got set up and handed out cups filled with shaved ice. It's neat that the flavored syrup dispensers are set up on the side of the truck to customize your own ice. If I remember correctly, the price was $150 for them to provide 50 servings to your private party. A cool option for your next bday, fundraiser, or other sweet reception.

We hired Kona Ice Coronado for my son's birthday & we have 0 regrets! The owner was very friendly & his truck was clean & in good shape. All of his flavors worked & the kids loved being able to make their own flavor creations! Definitely recommend!

This is a nice place to get some cool desserts to cool off the San Diego heatwave that has hit…read more(summer 2026). They have a nice selection of different desserts. We ordered a Strawberry Shaved Ice, Banana Strawberry Chocolate Parfait and a Mochi Cloud Cone. Everything tasted delicious. Ingredients tasted fresh and while it was sweet, I feel like it wasn't overly so. The parfait had cornflakes along with fruit (bananas, strawberry, mandarin orange and a cherry). I was unsure about the cornflakes, but it actually worked adding another texture to the parfait. Everyone else enjoyed their dessert. There were a total of 5 in our party and it was more than enough to share. The have plenty of other options including dairy free, Kawaii Cups, GO TO cups, and drinks. The decor is cute. My group loved the art of various desserts liked shaved ice hanging around this little dessert cafe. We all enjoyed the art they put in their tables as well. Our favorite was probably the table with the ducks surrounding the polar bear. There is a fair amount of seats and tables were clean. Service was good, the ladies here were quite friendly. With the amount of detail and careful attention they put, I would say everything came out pretty quickly. One negative I can think of is the parking situation. The Convoy area can get very busy and parking can become scarce. They have a small amount of parking and do charge after 2 hours (if I'm not mistaken). It looks misleading because if you aren't paying close attention (and read the sign) you may just download the app and pay for parking when you don't need to. The only other negative I can think of is pricing. It is a little pricey here, but what isn't these days. I would say that portions are decent and most desserts could probably be shared. We like this place and will definitely return. 4.5 / 5: Desserts 4.5 / 5: Service 4 / 5: Cleanliness 4.3 / 5: Overall

WOW!! This place is legit! Happened to be in this area and was looking for great place to get some…read moreomurice and stumbled into this little gem of a place!! First, street parking only but don't let that deter you from coming coz every inch or foot that you spend walking to this place is all worth it. Secondly, love the ambiance. Reminds me a lot of those ikazaya pubs in Japan but a little more chic and modern. They have bar seating of about 10 and 6-8 tables inside. But they also have outdoor seating. So I came at exactly 11 am and I was the second guest and they sat me at the bar. By 11:30 am, the entire resto was full, not granting it was a Saturday morning but people prolly got smart to come here early before the lunch crowd gets bigger. So for the food, I had to order their Hayachi Omurice and Chef Soichi's Chicken karage and both were BOMB! 11/10 each! Love the flavor of the rice and nice touch of thin slices of meat and the egg was perfectly made. I just wished there were heapings of those egg. The sauce was slightly tangy but love the flavor. The other star of my meal was the karage. Prolly the Top 2 karage I've had. I liked how they sliced in lengthwise and there not too much coating. And it wasn't oily and very juicy inside. Well seasoned and it came with lemon wedges and kewpie mayo. All I did was sprinkle some Nanami Togarashi for an added umami flavor. Overall, this should be on your top 10 restos in San Diego. Service was excellent, the servers were all friendly and always smiles!! Kudos to you guys!! I'll be back for sure!!

Unique taiwanese shaved snow place. there's no other place like this in San Diego that i know of…read more It's a small business that has been around for at least a decade. Very busy friday/weekend nights, lines usually long but if you go weekdays it's better. the snow is made with real ingredients unlike other places that use powders/syrups for flavor. The blocks of snow are already flavored (think of it like a big block or ice cream, just shaved in layers). Service is also generally good! I would recommend getting any dairy based snow with condensed milk layered! it brings out the flavor. the non dairy flavors are like sorbet but also very tasty (i like the lychee or super lemon which tastes like frozen lemonade). if you pick a build your own bowl, it's weighed (snow or softserve) after you get toppings. I notice it's usually between $5-$10 obviously dependent on weight but the minimum is 4.50 so if you are below that, they'll just charge 4.50. I'd recommend this place if you want a lighter sweet treat! Other places can be heavy but because this is shaved, it's easier on the tummy. they do also have waffle creations that seem good for couples to share~ (my favorite is the strawberry shorty, it has cheesecake bites and fresh strawberries, the waffle, and vanilla softserve). they have taiyaki too but it's not like somi somi where there's icecream inside, it's just filled or plain (the nutella one is really good). also their thai tea drink is really good

They offer other attractive connections as well, mainly various soft server and waffle based treats. Service at the counter is speedy. I just wish they'd pause to clean the tables more frequently. It's quite off putting to be frustrated in the search of a clean table time and time again.
