a waffle topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce

They came to my apartment complex and I got the breakfast waffle from them. It was good. Prior to that I got the we scream for ice cream waffle and it was excellent! I'd recommend checking them out.

These are the five waffles I got and all were Delicious.

The Belgium Waffles food truck comes to our apartments about once a month. Thank god it's only once a month or I'd weigh four hundred pounds. The waffles are so good and the owners are so nice. First time here, I got almost one of everything so I'd know what to get next time. The only problem was everything was awesome. You really can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. This last time I got it down to four items. Chicken and Waffles, Oreo Cookies And Waffles, We Scream for Ice Cream and the delicious Speculoos Sensation on Liege Waffle. The owner gave me a Dulce de Leche as a bonus. Now I have to rethink my four core pick because the Dulce was excellent too.

Update 7/28/16: I tried the Belgian meat pies today. They were delicious... A nice big meat pie topped with a perfectly buttery flakey pie crust. I chose the steak, sausage and cheese pie filling and it was simply delicious. Though it was well seasoned, I must confess I had to amp up the spice level to truly enjoy it. Two thumbs up for introducing more savory options to the truck! However this brings on another dilemma- whether to buy something sweet or savory since both are a meal on its own. I do wish they offer the option of choosing a half sized portion of the signature waffles so customers can enjoy a savory dish and then indulge in a little dessert! ________________________________________ Excellent waffles!!! The consistency is amazingly crunchy on the outside and just the right amount of chewiness on inside. I've tried the Fantastic Fruit waffles twice so far- the first time I tried it with ice cream instead of whipped cream based off of Yelp reviews ( at no extra charge) and was completely blown away by how amazing it was! A great waffle topped with a generous portion of fresh strawberries and big firm blueberries. Earlier today I tried it yet again but with whipped cream and I must confess to be slightly disappointed. The waffles though hot and fresh were not as crunchy as the first time. And the whipped cream is definitely something I will substitute with ice cream in the future. I must say I am tempted to try the savory waffles each time I go to this truck but my sweet tooth wins each time!

We Scream for Ice Cream waffle

I found this truck by random one Friday morning. I had just picked my cousin up from the airport, and we were headed to my home before embarking on our weekend of gluttony when we passed the truck parked on the street in front of a parking lot. A quick conversation ensued, in which we decided to modify our morning plans a bit, to include a stop at the Marcel Belgian waffle truck. We eagerly backtracked from my home to the truck, where we stood in front of the menu board, quietly discussing the various options. As we stood there, an older gentleman (who we took to be the owner) approached us to ask if we had any questions. He then took a few minutes to run us through the different options, and ended with a couple recommendations, before backing off to give us a chance to decide. We wanted to share something, so we went with the "We Scream for Ice Cream", which was basically dessert at 8:30 am. One Belgian waffle, topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled in chocolate and caramel sauces, and finished with a large dollop of whipped cream. All that for $8! Weeelll...it was $8 on the menu. I paid the man with a $10 bill, and he came to the window to ask, "Do you live in the area?" Taken off guard, I paused a second before answering to the affirmative, and he went on to tell me to come back tomorrow for my extra dollar, as he didn't have enough change to give me $2 back. What, now? This is a truck that's been in existence for a while. How do they come down to San Diego (for the first time ever, if the guy can be believed) without enough change to do business for a morning? At any rate, I told him to keep it, and that was that, but still...seemed odd to us. The waffle came out quickly, and it was light and flaky and delicious...and super sweet. I'm glad we decided to share one order of something, as we had a long day of food consumption ahead of us. I think the waffle we ordered would be too much for me on a regular day, but it was the perfect start to our morning. One final note. As we were perched on benches, happily consuming our waffle creation, one of the guys from the truck came running up to ask how it was. We gave him an enthusiastic thumb's up, and he departed...only to come back about a minute later to ask if we'd mind if he took a picture to "post on his site." We looked at each other, and decided, "why not?", and posed for a quick pic. He gave us veto power, thanked us profusely, then ran back to the truck. To date (almost two months later), the picture has not surfaced anywhere...

Food truck at work today... Serving it up even on a rainy day
    Jessica S.

This food truck rolled into my work today... It's been on the schedule and I was pretty excited for some waffle delight the morning of. It appears this is family owned and is run by a husband and wife who are actually from the country of Belgium. The graphics on their truck also indicate that they are approved by some prestigious minister of waffle affairs. Whether this is legitimate or not, their waffles are easily delicious. I ordered the Fantastic Fruit which included blueberries, strawberries, whip cream, and a chocolate drizzle. The waffles were very fluffy and sweet with a little bit of crunch. The fruit and chocolate also added to the sweetness factor. Too bad it was rainy and cold outside because the waffles were a tad cold by the time I was able to bite into them. For $9, I'd say I was mildly satisfied as I was barely full but the waffles themselves were still very astounding. My other gripe would be the lack of variety in the menu. Most of their options are on the sweeter side and while I enjoy this at times, I was really hoping for something more savory. Also, I'm not sure how waffles are traditionally served in Belgium, but these waffles tasted more like a dessert than a breakfast item (no syrup here!). Their waffle dishes do seem to lean more to the dessert side since they also offer a 'We Scream for Ice cream Waffle'. Marcel's definitely has some authentic Belgian waffles, but expect to pay a lot to receive a little and beware if you aren't into sweeter dishes.

Waffles are my absolute favorite!!! My personal favorite is located inside the Liberty Public Market. Everyone should definitely check that out- it'll change your lives :) With that said, I was stoked when I heard about Marcel Waffles! This place is subpar at best. We ordered a savory and a sweet waffle to get a taste of both worlds. As my best friend put it, the way they cooked their eggs was lazy. For a gourmet type of food truck, I would have appreciated more effort. The bacon was overcooked. As a whole, the waffle itself was too sweet to complement the savory contents on top. The plain waffles, with powdered sugar was okay. Nothing worth getting excited over. For your waffle fix, go to Liberty Station - they're open 7 days a week, and you don't have to hunt down a food truck for mediocre waffles.

Amazing waffles - perfect balance of flavor and sweetness! Not too sweet and served fresh and warm and very fast. Service was amazing and they're always up for a chat and helping you decide what to get. Definitely enjoyed this and I'm so grateful they came to our apartment building for a yummy treat! Looking forward to trying more of their menu - I'll do the churro waffle next!

Welp, the waffles are as good as they sound! The service was quick and the waffle man was helpful. The waffles are sweet and rich, the fruit was fresh and ripe, the waffle was cooked perfectly. I wouldn't say that it was enough to substitute for breakfast, but it's a great treat! Pros: picture perfect delicious waffles Cons: hard to track down Overall: if I drove by, I'd stop... but I wouldn't hunt it down (again)

I'm so happy they came to my work! I ordered the special. Delicious scrambled eggs, bacon and crispy waffles. The eggs were super flavorful. Pure happiness! Super filling! My co worker got the strawberry love. Awesome food. :)

    Lili L.

Food was fast to come out. But then again, they weren't busy. The man was kind enough to explain between two different types of waffles they had. They were delicious, but definitely over priced. I walked away feeling like I paid more for overhead than the wages themselves. Two original waffles, one with powdered sugar for $12.

This food truck is at UCSD medical center about twice a month, and today I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed with my order and the service. The couple at the truck were so sweet and attentive, very helpful when I asked for recommendations. I decided to try one of the specials of the day, banana nut dulce de leche waffle, but I ordered with no nuts. Presentation was beautiful and the taste was phenomenal. Would definitely order again!

Had a Strawberry Love waffle at the Chula Vista Harbor Festival today. It was SO good! the waffle was perfectly cooked! Strawberries were fresh and the little scoops of ice cream and whipped cream really topped it off nicely! Best part about it was that it wasn't heavy. So, move over funnel cake... Marcel Waffles is where it's at!

Had a strawberry waffle with my family and it was exactly what you'd expect. Found them at the Balboa food truck Friday's! We will try them again soon!

Ham and cheese savory. Free coffee with like and checkin.

Ordering was quick, but an overly dusted churro waffle was not worth the ONE HOUR wait to receive it. Way too much cinnamon sugar.

You can't come to Richard Walker's and not get the Dutch pancake. We went with the Apple Pancake (the fan favorite for a reason) and it was honestly out of this world. It's got that perfect contrast with super fluffy in the middle but with those amazing crispy edges. We also tried the Belgian waffle, which was exactly how it should be: crunchy on the outside and delicious throughout. What really blew me away, though, was the service. Despite it being one of the busiest days of the year, the staff was absolutely superb fast, friendly, and totally on top of it. If you're in Downtown San Diego, this is a must-visit for a solid, convenient breakfast. Highly recommend!

The interior is super organized, and I loved that they have a full bar area as well. We started with some mimosas, which were fantastic and the perfect kickoff to breakfast. For food, I ordered the Vegan Tres Leches Pancakes, and they were incredible. They were so naturally flavorful and moist that they barely even needed any maple syrup; the combination of the pistachio brittle and vegan buttercream on top was perfect on its own. My friend ordered the Shrimp and Crab Cake Benedict and loved it. He said it was packed with flavor, not dry at all, and didn't taste overly fishy; just perfect in every way. It's street parking only, so can be challenging depending on when you come. I stopped in during the week, as I walked from the nearby Padres stadium. It wasn't very busy when I came in around 11:30, but after I ordered it really picked up. They do have a counter where you order the food, and also a bar that you can sit at that appears to have a pretty good selection of alcohol. There are a few tables to sit at. After I place my order I decided to sit at the table with the Ronald McDonald statue, because why not? I asked the very nice server about the menu, and she let me know what was popular and answered my questions. I decided to go with the muffaletta as it was on focaccia bread, which I really love. The sandwich was huge, and I definitely needed someone to share it with. They do cut it in half, so it is actually perfect for sharing or taking the other half home. It is filled with several different types of Italian Meats, including salami, sopressata, mortadella, some cheese and arugula and onions, and a sauce they use. I've never had a muffaletta before, so I can't speak to how authentic this is, but I can tell you it was a very good sandwich. I loved all of the flavors and the way they came together, and the fact that it was on focaccia bread just made it all the more perfect. Overall this is a very cute place to grab breakfast or lunch, I believe they are only open until 3:00 p.m.. The decor is very cute, with several different statues, disco ball, and a music area , and I think kids would love it as well as adults.
