Service was good - the shaved ice itself was really lacking in flavor. We tried black sesame and jasmine milk tea, neither of which had much discernible sesame or tea flavor. Honestly without the condensed milk added, I don't think the ice would have tasted like anything at all on its own. Toppings were fine. I was impressed with how well run the shop was with just two people making bubble waffles, drinks, shaved ice, soft serve, etc. But the shaved ice itself was disappointing - especially since that's their claim to fame. read more

To order, you choose a size & a flavor ice that the worker shaves for you. Then, you get to add as many toppings to your bowl was you would like. The price is by weight, so make sure you wisely choose what to include. The jasmine milk tea shave snow is still a favorite! It's light and fluffy with a perfect floral flavor. The boba was a bit hard and chewy this time. Note that a small with no toppings will start around $9-$10 for just the shape snow. Plan accordingly so you're not surprised at the end since there are no prices on the menu. My friends and I were craving a sweet treat after lunch, so we decided to come here because one of my friends mentioned that they really enjoyed the Nutella flavor snow. My other friend and I got the affogato -- they got the Mighty Matcha and I got the Purple Yammy (Ube) one. My affogato was good, it wasn't super sweet, and the use was thick, so I had to mix it in with the snow base as best as I could. I thought it was really good overall though. I would say that the boba peals do get hard in the affogato because towards the end, I was trying to avoid the pearls. I hear it can get pretty crowded in here and in the parking lot as well. However, I went on a random Friday afternoon, so there was no wait, and there were plenty of seating available. read more

Quick stop after a friend's dinner at Dumpling Inn. It helped that we already had parking and could walk to Iceskimo. When we walked in, the store was empty, so we had a chance to chat about their offerings and ask the two employees for their recommendations. We ended up each getting a different cup, with different flavors and toppings, and freely shared spoonfulls of desserts with each other. The ices were refreshing and light, and the toppings were perfect for the frozen treats. Our choices ranged from chocolate to fruity bases, with almost every topping they had available. They started to get very busy while we sat at three tables sharing our desserts. The shop was clean and bright, with decent seating (we did spread out but tried to consolidate our space as more people came in). We all enjoyed our post-dumplings desserts and agreed it was a good find. read more

Our first visit to Iceskimo and it was a perfect treat after sushi. We had two kid cookies n cream shaved ice and one ube soft serve. The shaved ice was very unique in a great way. It had the creaminess of ice cream but the lightness of shaved ice. The ube soft serve was refreshing and delicious. The young lady helping us was very kind and patient as we figured out what we wanted and did a wonderful job making the treats look as good as they tasted. We will be back! read more

Came here after dinner with some friends. I wasn't planning on getting anything until I saw they had a seasonal soft serve that was pumpkin spiced. It was a pumpkin spice waffle with vanilla soft serve, biscoff cookie, cheesecake bites, and caramel sauce for about $13. Seemed pretty pricey but honestly I would get it again. We got waffle creations; they let you choose flavor of waffle, ice cream, and choice of 2 toppings as well as condensed milk/chocolate/caramel drizzle! Rating is mainly due to getting order wrong and the long wait time as we saw people behind us in line get their orders before we did. Me and my kids love this place. They have my favorite mixture for desserts, warm waffle and cold ice cream. I automatically fell in love with all the matcha afogatto. I already filled out 2 stamp cards. Yes, I am addicted. And am thinking about when to come here again tomorrow. The mighty matcha is milk ice with mochi balls, almond jelly, a butter wafer cookie, condensed milk, and of course, hand whisked matcha. They make the ice for you, add the toppings, and give you the matcha in a separate cup which you pour over yourself. My husband was a huge fan of the dirty horchata which was horchata ice, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, condensed milk, cheesecake bits, a butter wafer cookie, and a shot of espresso. Yum. Besides already made desserts on their menu, you can create your own milk bowl. They offer 3 sizes and tons of flavors. Everything is by weight. They have a lot of toppings which include Cinnamon Toast Crunch, fruity pebbles, cheesecake bites, boba, mochi, different flavor jelly, home made panna cotta (SO GOOD!!), home made mochi (also so good but my husband heard the employee tell a customer that the home made mochi is only available on Friday. This place is one of my favorite places to get a late night sweet treat. I usually get the shaved snow here with condense milk. My favorite flavor is the lychee rose, it is pretty refreshing. There are a lot of topping options but I like to keep mine simple usually with mochi balls. Parking can be rough but if you come after 9pm, parking is do-able. They do have a stamp card so be sure to grab one if you visit frequently! read more

I've passed by Icekimo so many times during various forays into Convoy but I've never actually been till recently. I swung by as I was craving an after dinner sweet treat and wanted to grab a drink for the following day. The shop was clean and service was friendly. I didn't know their shaved ice was like froyo, where you choose your own toppings, but I actually LOVE that since you can get a bit of everything. They have great Asian flavors for their shaved ice and my jasmine milk tea ice was strong, smooth, and sweet. I would skip on their Vietnamese coffee next time though. Maybe because I had it the next morning, but I was not super impressed. It didn't taste that strong. Will definitely come back for the shaved ice though! read more

This location and their sister place in Carmel Valley serve the absolute best artisan shaved snow in town. Hands down, the very best! My husband and I have been to both locations many times, both on our own and with grandchildren and other guests as a happy excuse. Every one of them raves about it and I understand why. My favorite flavor is nutella (to die for); husband loves the Vietnamese coffee (also excellent); and grandkids go for strawberry (dreamy too). They have other items too, such as soft serve, waffles, and toppings fit everything. I just can't bring myself to stay from the shaved snow because it's addictive. If you have a chance, try it. My husband and I just got married last week at the Japanese Friendship Garden (JFG) in Balboa Park. For our wedding, we really wanted to celebrate and represent each of our cultures through food. Since my husband is Vietnamese, we had a Pho Bar (catered by Pho Me Up--highly recommend!! You can look them up on instagram :)), and since I'm Taiwanese, I was so excited to have found ICESKIMO in San Diego! We made several "excuses" to bring our family to the Convoy location for tastings, and we've probably tried nearly every flavor by now. We ended up choosing black sesame and ube/taro for the wedding, and it was a huge hit with our guests! A big thank you to Robert and the team for doing such a phenomenal job and helping make our night so memorable! P.S. The bubble waffles are amazing too! It was our first time visiting iceSkimo. As we walked in I notice the shop was filled with an amazing smell of sweet fresh waffles being made. The restaurant was clean and organized, every topping they offered was stocked up & looked fresh. The staff were very friendly and patient and made our first experience really great. We got an order of the snickerdoodle waffle creation, Tiger soft serve with Oreo, bubble waffle, soft serve swirl with toppings & Vietnamese ice coffee. Everything came out delicious especially the bubble waffles and waffle creation was made fresh and came out warm, soft, crisped and nicely built together! We'll definitely be back. Iceskimo makes really aesthetic and creative desserts so they get a lot of points for that! Their soft serve and their shaved ice is pretty good, but their drinks and their waffle creations are just okay. I found their matcha latte to be super bland, with a very, very subtle matcha taste. Their waffle was also just okay, the texture was really good, but the taste was also a bit bland. The soft serve was really good! Overall, they get about 3.5/5 stars because the inside didn't look too clean, and the way the topping bar was arranged didn't seem super sanitary. The food is great, staff has my concerned... this was my second time to this locaiton. Pros: Fun options, bubble waffle is great. The food product is great and love the Ube. Cons: Staff member in the red shirt was at the register to the right of the toppings picking the polish off her nails where is landed on the counter.. Right next to the food...ewww. Then both workers went toward the back (seen in the picture) where she continued to pick the polish off her nails next to the top load freezer where the food is kept. when a customer came in and she then served them she put on gloves, but didn't wash her hands. really grossed me out.......... We came here after sushi across the street because they have vegan options whereas Bing Haus does not. I ordered the mango vegan option and it was phenomenal. Everyone in our group of 5 ordered different options: my mango snow, a soft-serve, a waffle, an affogato, and a waffle creation, so we got a good look of the different offerings. The toppings were abundant and the prices reasonable. Everyone loved what they got. I'm marking down for service. We were there midday; only one table was finishing up their ices. The two girls taking orders were just having a great chat session with one another while we waited for our order to be prepared. Another worker came through at one point behind the counter and that person and one of the girls disappeared behind a door for a good 3 minutes. We were baffled. After we got our orders and sat down, one of the girls sat up on the back counter and the two continued their chitchat. The garbage can was overflowing with trash on the floor - we had to set our empty containers on a counter near the can because literally nothing else could be shoved in there. There is a saying in food service, "if there's time to lean, there's time to clean." I don't expect everyone to be cleaning all the time, but if the trashcan is bursting out onto the floor, take care of that before the chat, kids. Heck, chat and empty the trash at the same time - just don't leave it so messy. Excellent treats, decent value, yikes service. read more

Came here for an after lunch great, loved the snickerdoodle creation without banana, the waffle was still warm even with the ice cream and it stayed crispy for a really good long time! This combo was just perfect, not too sweet and just so yummy! I stop in here very often after a ramen or KBBQ dinner because it's in such a convenient spot in relation to so many other great places! They do their version of a waffle coma which is always warm and fresh. The ice cream is awesome and presentation is always fun and fancy. They were very busy when we went tonight and staff was still very helpful and set waiting expectations which were totally reasonable. Great after dinner dessert spot! read more

The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

One would think that, in such dark times, one could still find even a glimpse of hope in an ice cream cone. I was proven wrong, and my outlook on the current state of affairs only dimmed further. I ate my ice cream in two bites. Twenty dollars for two cones, four bites total. I didn't even bother feeding my son the pup cup. He deserves better. The world deserves better. Bigger portions. Bigger smiles. Makes perfect sense, in my humble opinion. I suppose your employees do not agree.

I asked the staff why it was $42, and they told me it was because of the automatic 20% gratuity listed on the menu. I checked the menu, and it was written in very small fine print. I even told them, "What if someone doesn't notice the fine print?" It honestly felt misleading. Also, the food just isn't as good as it used to be. Five years ago, this place was much better. I'm sorry to say this, but after this experience, I won't be coming back.

My wife and I also wanted some drinks while we were here. I had a hot chocolate. My wife had hers with espresso shots. Good espresso in pure chocolate will never not be good. They are family owned and they only add chocolate, sugar, and oat milk to make their bars. Overall, this was a fun place to check out at Little Italy, and they also had a stall at the Farmer's Market.

FYI, they have a new location up north in Scrips Poway, it's cute but slightly different aesthetic (umm more industrial) and is in a strip mall, so, way more parking!
