Sul & Beans is pretty known for the bingsu. The parking here very small and limited so it's best if you come during off peak hours (noon/afternoon). The interior does have a good amount of seating but because it's so popular, there might be a little to none and it also gets really loud. There was music playing, but we couldn't hear it because of how loud it was so I wouldn't recommend coming here to study. You order at the front and they will yell your name, but it was hard to know when you got your food because of how loud it was. We ordered the strawberry cheese and it was good, but it just melted really fast that it became sweet soup towards the end. So I probably wouldn't get the Bingsu again unless there's more people to eat it quickly with. Their toast does look good so I'll be coming back to try that. The woman's bathroom also does have two bathrooms, which is nice. But for the strawberry cheese bingsu, it does taste good. It's just shaved frozen milk with strawberry chunks and also cheesecake and they do give you condensed milk, but it was very watery.

My kids love their food, their friendly service and casual welcoming ambiance! We will be back!

Ok so my friends and I have this rule, "always leave room for dessert," lol. We'd just had a big meal but still decided to pop in here because honestly, why not? This place is lowkey one of the best spots in Convoy for Bingsoo. It's right next to Somi-Somi, and they also do Taiyakis which is a nice little bonus. I got the Injeolmi Bingsoo and omg, where has this been all my life?? For anyone who doesn't know, injeolmis are basically the Korean version of mochis but with this nuttier vibe so good. The bingsoo ice itself was super light and fluffy, not too sweet either which is totally my thing. My friends went for the strawberry bingsoo and nutella taiyakis and they were obsessed. No complaints at all. The spot wasn't packed when we showed up, the space is actually pretty roomy with tons of seating, and the service was fast too like no waiting around forever. Basically if you're anywhere near Convoy and need a dessert fix, just come here. You won't regret it!

Every night is hopping. Came for a quick $15 bingsoo and could barely find a table. It's light, fluffy, refreshing, and the mochi is consistently soft and chewy -- probably why it's always packed. Definitely a young crowd, very Asian dessert vibes, and being right next to Somi Somi makes it a full sweet-tooth zone. Parking is a challenge, but honestly it's worth the wait. Glad there's so much energy and happy vibe there!

Sul & Beans is the left half of the Korean dessert complex at a small plaza in the Convoy District. Parking in this lot can be challenging, but if you come at an off-peak time like I did, then open spaces will be available. Plenty of tables were set up in the dining area if you wanted to hang out. I think you may still need to request a temporary password at the service counter to use the encrypted WiFi signal. This side of the suite offered different flavors of injeolmi (Korean sweet rice cake/toast), bingsoo (Korean shaved ice), and boong uh bbang (Korean goldfish bread). Coffee, tea, and some hot/cold beverages were available for drinks. My order was a Green Grape Ade and two flavors of boong uh bbang, matcha custard and red bean. The goldfish bread was prepared in the common kitchen area shared with Somi Somi. The drink was ready first. It was a meager serving size of 12 oz for $5.75. At the very least, the cup should have been 16 oz for such a price. The grape flavor was also diluted from the ice cubes. The bread was like a light crispy waffle. Both fillings were not too sweet. The red bean had a more prominent taste which I preferred over the matcha custard. Compared to other dessert options in this neighborhood, my Sul & Beans experience was at a three star level.

Sul & Beans is always a reliable go-to for bingsoo. We stopped by the Convoy location after dinner nearby and satisfied our sweet tooth. We ordered the Taro Bingsoo ($13.95), Strawberry Bingsoo ($13.95), and the 5-piece Boong Uh Bbang ($9.75). The bingsoo portions were a good size and definitely shareable. Both flavors were excellent - the strawberry tasted fresh (though a bit tart), and the red bean + taro combination was especially satisfying. Extra cups and spoons are conveniently available at the pickup area. As with most plazas in Convoy, parking can be a bit of a challenge.

We LOVED this dessert spot! They had refreshing drinks and Bingsu. We've been looking for a place in Northern California where they serve Bingsu and no one has it! We were determined to fill our craving when down in SD. Mira mesa has the best Korea spots for dinner and dessert. We got the chocolate Bingsu and two Boong uh Bbang filled with red bean and Nutella. Both desserts were delicious!!! The restaurant had many tables to sit. Sul & Beans share the space with Somi Somi which sells similar products. We've had Somi Somi before but it doesn't rival Sul and Beans we would definitely prefer Sul and Beans. I highly recommend this spot over all the others. Parking is the only downside. You'll have to get lucky in their strip mall parking situation. You also have to pay after the first hour. You pay by QR code using your phone. There is also street parking.

Had a lovely visit to this dessert café! The ambiance was clean, well-decorated, and welcoming. definitely gives off cozy café vibes. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and they seemed to know the menu well. There are so many options on the menu that we had a hard time choosing! We ended up going with their new chocolate banana bingsoo. It was delicious and more than enough to share between two people. It was around $15 - maybe a bit on the higher side, but totally worth it for the portion and quality.

When the weather is warm, it's always a nice treat to have some shaved ice desserts here. The ice is flavored and the texture of the shaved ice is like snow melting in your mouth. My favorite is the berry one that comes with fresh strawberries and blueberries. The tartness is the fruits is a nice balance to the sweetness of the shaved snow and condensed milk that is drizzled on top. It's a very satisfying dessert that doesn't leave you feeling heavy. Satisfy the sweet cravings without compromising too much on the calories.

Check out this insulated to go bag that came with my order. Awesome.

I really like this place! We came in to try the SomiSomi next door but ended up here because the display case looked so delicious. We got the Strawberry Bingsoo and it was so light with the perfect amount of sweet to it. The ice was like snow! So fluffy and good. The girls at the counter were very sweet and even asked if we have any allergies when ordering which I think it's a great move on their part. The place is clean and has a relaxing ambience to it. We got it to go and it came in a really functional insulated bag with an ice pack in it . You don't see this type of service and dedication to the customer anymore. This place really hit the spot!

Just wanted a drink without caffeine and the sweet potato latte sounded nice. I've had Sweet potato latte back in south Korea but in a hot version so I wanted to try it with light ice. As expected, it did remind me of the one I had but def. Would've been better in a hot version.

Love the boong uh bang! It's the Korean taiyaki (fish pancake) and they have many fillings to choose from. You can do an order of 2 or 5 and they don't have to be all the same fillings. I tried the red bean, black sesame and hotteok and they're all good. My favorite is the hotteok and it's the best when it's fresh and hot. Highly recommend it. My friends enjoyed the shaved ice and there's a lot of variety of the shaved ice that you can enjoy. The service is quick. Place your order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. It may be hard to get a table during their busy hours.

    Tim T.

Nice Korean coffee, tea and dessert place on Convoy, prompt service and spacious atmosphere connected to a SomiSomi ice cream / taiyaki place. Their iced honey lemon tea is also great. Met up with a good lawyer and screenwriter friend of mine who works for the City of San Diego, Brian Byun. Recommended!

Small selection of coffee and tea drinks as well were available. There is almost no service interaction, self-clearing tables and kiosk to order. The humans were in back making desserts and calling out numbers. The seating area is cute but only has about 8 tables inside and 2 outside. We order Hawaii cups, one serving size, matcha, matcha non-dairy and peach. Matcha with dairy was the best flavor. It had whipped cream, a large serving of matcha flavored shaved ice, extra sprinkle of matcha, scoop of ice cream and jellies on the bottom. All cups are cutely decorated with deformed bear faces.

Very busy friday/weekend nights, lines usually long but if you go weekdays it's better. the snow is made with real ingredients unlike other places that use powders/syrups for flavor. The blocks of snow are already flavored (think of it like a big block or ice cream, just shaved in layers). Service is also generally good! I would recommend getting any dairy based snow with condensed milk layered! it brings out the flavor. the non dairy flavors are like sorbet but also very tasty (i like the lychee or super lemon which tastes like frozen lemonade). if you pick a build your own bowl, it's weighed (snow or softserve) after you get toppings. I notice it's usually between $5-$10 obviously dependent on weight but the minimum is 4.50 so if you are below that, they'll just charge 4.50. I'd recommend this place if you want a lighter sweet treat! Other places can be heavy but because this is shaved, it's easier on the tummy. they do also have waffle creations that seem good for couples to share~ (my favorite is the strawberry shorty, it has cheesecake bites and fresh strawberries, the waffle, and vanilla softserve). they have taiyaki too but it's not like somi somi where there's icecream inside, it's just filled or plain (the nutella one is really good). also their thai tea drink is really good

I would have liked one more row of candy topping options, as the ones I chose (brownie bites and mini Choco cups) weren't very sweet. The shaved ice cream itself comes out in long piece which isn't as satisfying to me as smaller crystals like in kakigori or even harder pellets like dip n dots. Icekimo's shave texture just did not enhance the dessert eating experience for me. That said, I did enjoy the flavors - lychee was light and refreshing while the Thai ice tea flavor tasted exactly like the drink.
