Bad service. Twice I have tried to spend money at this place but the staff was so unhelpful and rude that I have gone somewhere else. I agree that their cakes are good but other places compare and have helpful staff. read more

Thought I would try this place since i heard good things about it. I normally go to my favorite place in watertown 'Lilys'. Went to buy an assortment of birthday mini cakes but all the sales people were extremely sour and unhappy. Even my young kids picked up on their bitterness. They seemed annoyed at having to describe the different pastry flavors. But why don't they put up little signs? Very unprofessional with their service. They should make bitter angry things to eat definitely not sweets. Made for a very unpleasant experience. read more

Over 10 years ago, I had my wedding cake tasting here and everything was perfect. In terms of wedding service, Konditor Meister is great. Since then we have been coming to this bakery for birthday cakes, about 3-4 times per year. EVERY SINGLE cake has been excellent. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the service. 90% of the time, someone is being rude, impatient or nasty. It is really tragic that the people working behind the counter and on the phone are not better trained in basic customer service. I literally dread when I have to call and order a cake. And God forbid I ask any questions like options for decorations, or how big a cake I should get to feed a certain number of people. It would be nice if the people working there would appreciate their customers a little more. Not every person who calls or walks in is a bad customer. Please be nice! read more

Myself and 2 guests signed in and were quickly seated in the "VIP" room for our appointment after a 1 hour commute. When we were walked back, there was a large group of couples tasting numerous cake flavors. I'm not sure why we were seperate, but we were glad we were. An hour before our appointment I called to ask about the flavors and was told the cakes made for tasting were already baked for the day, and we wouldnt be able to try any unless some extras were sitting around. So essentially, we were waiting for someone to tell us what the price tag would be. We decided to go anyway to price out my design. For a cake that starts at $3.50 per person (I have 80 guests) I should not have to call and choose 3 flavors to try. Either someone should've called me before my appointment or I should've been able to try all of them. After 45 minutes we got up and left because no one ever came in to help us with our (cakeless) cake tasting appointment. While no one checked on us, the group next door had more than 1 consultant working on their samples and more than 3 flavors. I was confused by this. We are all paying the same prices for our cakes. I went to the desk to ask when we would be helped, only to be given an attitude by the girl at the desk. When we walked out there were several employees standing at a counter and talking over coffee. 45 minutes of waiting and not one person asked if we needed help when we walked by. They did however look at us as if we were out of place (which we were) and move aside so we could get by. I got a call from the bakery 20 minutes into the ride home. So really no one noticed we were not being helped for over an hour, even after I went to the desk to ask for help. I do not recommend this bakery for your event. read more

I normally wouldn't spend so much money on a birthday cake but it was for a nice party. I had no problem ordering online and the cake did look nice in the store. However they do not give you a regular bakery box with a cover. When the rude woman just handed me the cake I pointed to the window and said look at the weather - I can't carry this cake like this outside - don't you have a cover? And she yelled "not for a cake like that" and walked away and helped another customer. I don't know what she meant because it was nothing special - just a single layer 9 inch birthday cake. I should have made a bigger deal or left the cake there and asked for a refund but it was so crazy and chaotic in the store and frankly none of the employees looked like they cared at all. Needless to say, between the humidity and rain of that day the cake looked warped by the time I got it home. I emailed management and explained all of this and they did not respond. I'm not the type to get furious over a birthday cake but it was $65 and I could have had a cake from Shaws that would have been $10 AND would have come with a cover! I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company because they did not provide the product I paid for. A box with a cover is not too much to ask for when buying a high end cake. read more

We have used Konditor Meister many times and we didn't have a bad experience until recently. I was told to send an e-mail and my order would be taken care of. I sent a detailed e-mail with pictures, type of cake, and size. Once the details were worked out we thought we would be all set! The day the cake was picked up not only was the cake design ignored but so was the cake type! We payed close to $200 for the cake and it was not even close to what we had written in the e-mail. In hopes of the situation being alleviated we called Konditor Meister to see if there was anything more they could do for us. The manager DAVE would not admit to his mistake but actually said he could not do anything for us. He was so unhelpful and on top of it rude. He said he was a manager but would not let me speak to any other managers or the owner. I am sure it was because he was covering his OWN mistake. I would have had more respect for him and the business if they were more customer service friendly and at least admit the huge mistake they made! We have used Konditor Meister for numerous events including birthday parties, bridal showers, weddings and cannot believe the way we were treated. We will never go there again and suggest you never work with Dave. Next time it may take less time to admit a mistake then fix a nasty review and lose customers. read more

I have always been nothing but pleased with both the cake and the service at KM. I have purchased many special occasion cakes there over the years, and have always been very pleased. Strawberry grand mariner and the lemon citron are my favorites. I have done two wedding tastings there (mine and my niece's) and they were very professional. My cake was very simple, white flowers on top with light green leaves. The associate went so far as to give me a color copy of the exact shade of green that we had discussed. The room is small, there are lots of people in there, and I found some of the behavior of the other brides shocking. After seeing some of these women in action, my husband to be had a whole new appreciation for my un-bridezillaness. The demands of some of the brides were amazing. One bride literally had 12-15 different shades of purple in front of her, and NONE were to her liking. Puh-lease it's a wedding cake, not world peace. I think it's amazing that these people keep their cool as much as they do based on what they're dealing with. Please know going there that it will be busy. Know that you will have to wait in line. We drive to Braintree from the North Shore, that's how good their cakes are! read more

I used to LOVE Konditor Meister. I came here for everything! I always got the Strawberry Grand Marnier from here. I am not sure what happened, but the cakes have gone downhill. In the past couple of times that I have purchased a cake (pre-ordered!), they have been dry and I could tell they were not fresh. Are they not making their cakes completely fresh anymore? Due to numerous disappointments with the cakes, I no longer order cakes from here anymore. I do, however, venture in once a while for their mini pastries. The size of the mini pastries as quite large compared to other bakeries in the area for similar prices. I have not had a bad experience with the mini pastries, such as stale product or product lacking ingredients. I do think the staff is often rude and always in a hurry. I understand that it is busy, but you should never rush a customer! I will definitely give their cakes another try (their buttercream is my absolute favorite!) read more

I went here with my sister for a wedding cake tasting. I've heard great things about the cakes and the place was packed at 9am on a Sunday so I figured it had to be good. It was not. Since it was a wedding cake tasting, we tried every kind of cake they can make. I was not impressed. They all sort of taste the same and really bland. They don't even make real red velvet. It's just their standard chocolate cake with red food coloring. Some of their fillings (strawberries, strawberries and peaches, raspberry, lemon) were really good, but filling can only do so much if its in a cake that tastes like nothing with a slight butter after taste from the frosting. We also sampled 12 different pastries and they all, again, tasted the same! I'm not even sure how that's possible. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because I thought their carrot cake was well done and the woman who was helping us with the tasting was extremely nice and attentive. read more

I ordered a cake for my 2 yr old niece and sent a picture. When I arrived to pick up the cake, it was nothing compared to what I requested. I requested a purse and the purse on the cake was a flat rectangle with the upper corners turned in. It looked like a grandma's purse, not a 2 yr old's! Also, there was minimal decoration on the cake. I paid $20.00 for the purse and I was told it was rolled chocolate but it had a bitter after taste and was inedible. When I complained, the store clerks that looked like they were no more than 17 yrs old told me that the pic was not clear. I asked why I didn't receive a call if it was not clear. I was also told that I called the day before for the cake and they were doing me a favor. I was not told that and I told her if that meant a poorly decorated cake, then they shouldn't have taken the order. After going back and forth, I decided to take the cake home but I was still not satisfied with the cake I paid $70.00 for. I don't think I will trust them again. I was not satisfied and at no point did a manager speak to me. read more

I needed to buy a cake asap! And it had to be a cake for a foodie, so my stress level was above the limits. I came in, took them couple minutes to notice me, probably due to the closing hours, I came in 30-40 mins before they closed. The store looks gorgeous! The displays were full with all sorts of cakes, cupcakes and goodies. Someone in the reviews said it was messy in the store, cant agree with that! It was definitely one of the cleanest places I've been. A very nice guy instructed me on each cake, what the flavor is, the cream all of it! When I was finally ready to order it took him not more then 2-3 min to write "Happy Birthday" on it, wrap the cake and bring it out. My whole experience was amazing. And the prices! The prices for cakes like this I've never seen around! $34 for a 10". Loved it. It tasted and looked great! The cake definitely made an impression, everyone kept talking about it.
