They had all kinds of small souvenirs, t-shirts, leis, and plants at very great prices. The owner was so friendly with Aloha vibes. No need to go to Hawaii. Everything Hawaiiana is right here at Konishi Plumeria in Cypress CA. It was by pure luck that I found David posting his knowledge of the plumeria plants and flowers on FB. I was totally intrigued and was looking for an appropriate dish or vase to preserve the fragrant blossoms of my plant in the backyard. I immediately saw the donut looking ceramic vase in assorted colors. After chatting and getting to know more about the plants and Hawaiian articles as well as colorful clothing, I learned that my plumeria is most likely of the sweet fragrant "Gardenia" type. It was suggested that the shiny black donut dish would serve me best. The lovely missus will love the sample 5 petal flower I received with my purchase and I will get the vase filled with my own at home. With so many Art and articles and just Hawaiian fun things/souvenirs, I was shown by Arlene behind the counter, a "Cook Street" Hawaiian print shirt of great value that for sure will fit me. It was a real pleasure to have visited Konishi Plumeria and I know we will return. Hmmm, good to know that Konishi Island Fair is on 28th September. read more

What a hidden treasure! I stumbled upon this shop after dropping by the post office. The shopping center is hidden behind el pollo Loco. My neighbors all have plumeria trees and I've been wanting to get one myself. One offered to give me a piece but I never got around to it. Luckily I saw all the varieties of plumeria plants KONISHI's had. They have all sorts, colors, and sizes. Im all for shopping small/local. They had quite a few plants outside on a rack with healthy branches & leaves. Surprisingly they were priced at such a great value $12. They have larger plants inside for different prices but all very reasonable. The owner was very friendly and I will definitely be back for my plumeria needs. Fabulous place! The owners are incredibly knowledgeable about all things plumeria. I learned what I was doing right--and what I could improve--with my own plants. I even picked up another small plumeria to take home! Beyond the plants, the shop has a fun selection of Hawaiian-themed items like shirts, salt & pepper shakers, tikis, and seashell leis. They have specialized things, like proper soil ingredients and tested fertilizers, plus other critical things that are hard to find like big perlite and stubby pots. And yes, they sell lots of plumerias themselves. But it's not just a store - David will sometimes sit in there actually potting up plants all day long, so you can see from a real expert how he does it and ask for advice. Most garden stores are huge and unfocused, with staff who are at best generalists. This story is focused and cozy, and won't sell you anything that isn't right for your plumerias; they will help you succeed without breaking your checkbook. Absolutely love this place. David is one of the friendliest small business owners you will ever meet. I don't write a lot of reviews, but once in a while, I get hit with inspiration. I have been here a few times and each time has been better than the last. If you love plumerias or Hawaiian themed decor, this is definitely a place I think you should check out. Good prices, great conversation and even advice if you have a question on how to care for your plants. Lots of products at great prices: Coir for cutting & potting medium, rooting hormone, lots of pots, I could literally go on forever. He has some products he ships as well. David Konishi is an amazing person and I highly recommend Konishi Plumerias. My wife and I visited his shop and David explained that he prices his plants affordably because he wants more people to be able to enjoy growing plumerias. We bought some fertilizer, and he followed us out to the car and gave us a free plumeria cutting. There is the Real Aloha Spirit exuding from this guy. David also came out to trim my parents' plumeria trees for them this spring, and although I'd texted him about it to coordinate the tree trimming, I'd never met him in person. He immediately recognized my wife and me from the Facebook plumeria group and even recalled that he'd cut my parents' trees. Great guy and great shop! read more

Love this shop! The owners David and Elaine are so kind and I love chatting with them when I stop in. They make you feel so at home and are happy to answer all your questions! They have every supply you need too, not just plants. I discovered them while searching for Jungle Jack plumerias closer to me than going all the way to San Diego. Cypress is still a long drive from Burbank but they always have a great selection and get new plants regularly. And if you want a specific JJ plant that is not in store, they will even offer to pick up one up on their next trip if it's available. Choosing your plant can be a very personal thing for fanatics, but they have always picked beautiful and the best plants for me --or-- not at all if there weren't any that looked good that day.
