Excited to try this. I was not disappointed, but I wasn't excited to have in the future. The cone is made from dough balls - so not frozen crust. It rolls through a special oven - on a conveyor belt. The top and bottom were good - and molten hot. However, the big blob in the middle stays cold. We bought 3 and this was the case with every one of them. So a few bites were just cold cheese and sauce - which isn't a deal breaker but was surprisingly built into the design. Wasn't anything the vendor did. These were $12 each for a slice of pizza. So one dude can make them fresh and put in conveyor but basically all slice of pizza. I don't normally pay $12 a slice so not excited to have again but happy I tried it - was on our list to try. Only 4 types - cheese, pepperoni, chicken parm, and bacon ranch. For fair food it was good. Fair prices $12 each. Gouge much compared to their prices a year ago? Should be a $6-8 item - then I'd be down to try again. Clean truck - structured process - accepts credit cards with tap. But $12 geez. read more

I tried the jalapeno pepperoni cone a few weeks ago during a food truck festival. Overall, I would say it was a pretty satisfying slic-cone, but I definitely got it more for the novelty than anything else. It really is just a slice of pizza but rolled/wrapped up like a cone, so actual taste-wise, it wasn't anything new/bizarre. $8 seems a bit steep to me but I also just accepted that going into the festival, and compared to some of the other trucks/offerings, it was one of the more reasonable items. Service was fast and friendly and if I recall, the truck had a pretty high healthy/sanitation rating. If you're like me and looking to try something new, I'd recommend crossing this one off the list! read more

Wow I enjoyed eating pizza out of a cone way more than I thought I would. The cones are substantial and hold layers of ingredients. They do retain a lot of heat so give it time to cool in between bites. I appreciate the layered ingredients so that you get the best bite of pizza each time. One cone is surprisingly filling and costs $8. We chose the pepperoni pizza and Buffalo chicken. It is pricier than I would like, but worth it for the quality and taste. Price point and wait time is similar to other food trucks. I recommend eating them right away as they do not travel well. The cones ordered to go were placed in a paper bag and leaked a lot of grease. Overall, we enjoyed our pizza cones and would purchase them from here again! read more

Tasty and unique alternative to the same old slice of pizza. Kona takes the humble slice of pizza and turns it on its side. A cone is formed of pizza crust. It's filled with cheese, sauce and toppings. The whole thing is baked & voila you have a kone of pizza. Never to be confused with a high quality slice of pizza at your local pizzeria, the kones are the taste and quality of a good supermarket pizza. The kone is much neater to eat than a slice and is very portable. Also tried a cannoli kone. Same pizza crust kone, this time filled with sweet, creamy cannoli filling. Pizza cone was good, I ordered just the cheese but it cost the exact same as if I were to have pepperoni or chicken added. Wish it cost less than 9 dollars since my total ingredients price was less. 8/28/21: I visited this food truck during an International food festival in downtown Raleigh today. I loved the concept of pizza on a convenient cone. We ordered a pepperoni one. It was yummy. The sauce was just right and it was piping hot. The staff were kind of friendly. Not over the top bubbly or anything. Just kind of like...blah. Outside of that, I truly enjoyed the Kona pizza cone & we will visit again if we see them out and about. We totally recommend. read more

Pretty tasty I must say! I found them on instagram first and had been keeping an eye out for them in case they were ever in the area. Then it happened, I just stumbled upon them and I must say, I was excited. I ordered a pepperoni cone which was made to order and took about 5 minutes. The cone cone out piping hot and ready to eat! That first bite was amazing! My only nitpick with the pizza cone is the grease. Since the cone is filled with pepperoni and cheese then cooked, there is no where for the grease to go other than to stay trapped in the cone. Not much you can really do to fix that that I know of but it was still tasty and a unique experience to boot! If I see them out and about again, I'll definitely be stopping in! read more

Kono Pizza, as per the owner of the food truck, is NOT a rolled up piece of pizza. It is quite simply a pizza taking the place of an ice cream cone; and boy is it tasty. Imagine an ice cream cone made out of pizza and all the pizza toppings baked inside, i.e. a pizza cone! I visited Kono Pizza during their opening weekend at Trophy Brewing. Lucky for me, all pizza cones were $5, but typically run anywhere from $4 (for a cannoli cone) to $7 (for the pepperoni or chicken parm cone). I'd recommend getting two for a meal, one for a taste. They are a little smaller than I imagined (especially for if paying the full $7 price tag). The great thing about pizza cone is the crust is delicious and because of the cone shape the pizza stays hot even on chilly days. I tried the chicken parm cone, and boy did it taste just like chicken parm but with a crispy pizza dough shell. I don't think I'd seek them out but I'd definitely get a pizza cone if I ran into their truck at a festival, worth a try. read more

$7 for one cone feels steep - it was really good though! I called them to verify they'd be in my office park because I couldn't see them from my office windows, (due to my vertically challenged nature (hahaha) and the hedges) but they didn't answer the phone. It was very cold and raining hard - there were a lot of us huddled together under the tarp provided. I ordered a chicken parmigiana cone. There wasn't tons of chicken in it but it was pretty tasty. When I got back to the office I made quite a scene with my cone - everyone wanted to tell me about their favorite ice cream cone dessert and ask about my pizza cone. It was a sight for a rainy day. The cone part tasted like sour dough, interesting, no? I was sorta confused by the whole experience. Part of me really liked it but the portion wasn't larger than a slice of pizza - usually purchased for a lot less money. It was a novelty and I certainly didn't mind it this once - I'm not sure that I'd commit to it weekly. read more

I love the concept but $7 for one is kind of crazy. They're about the equivalent of one slice of a med/large pizza at most restaurants. I could get a whole pizza from somewhere else for $7. The pizza itself was pretty tasty but due to its cone shape it was difficult to eat at times with all the grease in one central location. I definitely would go back if I happened to run across them at a festival or something but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. read more

This truck is a perfect example of why I hate food trucks. It's way overpriced for what it is and actually makes the experience of eating pizza worse. A cone is $6 which is supposed to equate to a regular slice. Well for $6 you could easily get 2 or maybe even 3 slices from a regular pizza joint. Maybe I could understand if they had some exotic ingredients but it's just standard pizza - dough, cheese, sauce, and meat. On top of that, like some other reviewers said, it's actually fairly complicated to eat without burning your mouth. As you get into it it starts squirting hot, molten cheese and sauce into your mouth like a HotPocket. My mouth is sore even 2 hours after eating one. I mean pizza is like the most tried and tested food there is. You really can't improve on the delivery process into your mouth. We got 4 of these and 2 desert cones for a family dinner that came to $34. For $34 I could have gotten 2 whole large pies. Just save yourself the trouble and your wallet with this one. read more

Pretty yummy! The cone is not just a slice of pizza rolled up. It's actually quite substantial and more rigid to support the inside toppings. Has a nice crunch too! The inside cheese and tomato sauce is hot and gooey when you get your cone. I really enjoyed this! But....def not worth the $7 price tag. read more

Great concept!!! I had one on the Wildwood boardwalk and thought it was pretty good. Like other reviewers mentioned it is tough to eat when you get to the bottom of the cone without sauce coming out and burning yourself. If they could remedy this issue i'd say it's a great fair food. read more

Very friendly staff!!! I have gone a few times. My daughter said the Cannoli Kone was her favorite which I didn't taste. Easy to eat. I really enjoyed Kono!! The food itself was delicious. I got a chicken parm and cannoli Kono - with tax and tip paid $12. Would have been able to eat two chicken parm kono's especially if I didn't get the cannoli. Wish they have a discount if you bought 2. Were slices of pizza suffering from a mobility problem? I don't think so, but even if they were, a cone is definitely not the optimal delivery mechanism for pizza. It's awkward to eat, toppings squirt out, you burn yourself . . . in short, eating one of these is a royal pain in the ass. Got two of them today and paid $11.91 for it. Not terrible, but 2 regular slices of pizza would have been much cheaper. Got the chicken parm and the plain one. First off, the chick at the window had no clue what "plain" meant. Where is she from anyway? Secondly, eating it was a pain in the ass. The toppings were spilling out all over the place, I burnt myself, and some of the cheese and pre-cooked chicken were not warmed all the way through. As for the taste, I've had freezer pizza that tastes better. Wouldn't go back. Save your money and go and get an actual pizza that tastes much better. read more
