This is a cute little snack shop located in Kaneohe next to the DMV. Honestly I'm never out in this neck of the woods, but my daughter was trying to get her drivers permit which was delayed several months due to COVID-19. Anyway, I digress. The snack shop looks like it has quite a variety of treats, but the actual shop is closed and you can only buy things through a window now. I get it since the owners are older and don't wanna get sick from people coming into their tiny shop. Anyway, it was such a hot day and we're at the DMV for literally three hours. I ended up buying bubble tea. I purchased the regular milk tea which was delicious and a much thicker consistency than I was used to having. More like a smoothie than a water down drink. Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely come back to get another bubble tea if I'm back in this neck of the woods!

Smoothies are pricey but the acai & the pitaya I know for sure are made from the actual frozen fruit. They use just the right amount of sugar, not too much. And I love how they tie the napkin around the cup. I call it their signature napkin tie. Very tasty & refreshing ! The couple are friendly & always nice.

Now that I live on the Windward Side of Oahu, I'm appreciating Ko'olau Center more! It's very close to Windward Mall - just a few minutes' drive on Kahekili Highway and you're there! It's across from the entrance to Valley of the Temples and Kyoto-In Temple. Just look for McDonald's, turn in to Hui Iwa Street, and turn left. Times Grocery Store will be on your right. Consolidated Theater will be straight in front of you. There's also a karaoke place, a Driver's License office, Subway, Ninja Sushi, Chinese Food, and Times Coffee Shop. Other businesses include a nail salon, Hina Mauka and a dialysis center. There's a great variety of shops here. The only drawback might be the access. Kahekili Highway is a bottleneck since there's only one lane of traffic each way. Just avoid the going home rush and you'll be fine!

Mr. And Mrs. Lee of the former Lee's BBQ continue their top notch customer service at the Koolau Snack Shop. They are the kindest Asian business owners I've ever met!! Not just great business people but also after getting to know them the many times I've visited, I can honestly say I don't think there's anyone whose stepped in their shop and not had a good experience. I love seeing the happy little kids that go there with their parents after school for their treat and on numerous occasions the Lee's are so kind that they "hook up" =p their little customers. One time I saw a mom and her little girl come in for a soda and the little girl was sad asking her mom if she could get an icee and the mom said no because she didn't have enough money with her and I guess Mr and Mrs Lee knew them so Mr Lee have her a cute kid sized icee! The little girl was so happy!! The Good- Always fast and friendly customer service! The Better- They suggested different bubble drink flavors every time I visited, depending on what mood I was in for the day, eventually finding my perfect flavor- Honeydew and Taro mixed bubble drink!! The Best- After tasting every bubble drink that has received good reviews on the Windward side, Koolau Snack shop is #1 for me and almost every person I refer!!

Super sweet owners! Love coming here, especially on hot days. If you're lucky you'll get a Shaveice, recently the "no shave ice" sign has been up. Icee and bubble drinks are also delicious. One of my favorite shave ice spots on the island. Always soft and tasty! Must try the lihing mui and melon flavor

Everything tastes authentic and full of aloha, but my favorite has to be the poi ice cream with warm poi at the bottom. That mix of warm, earthy poi with cold, creamy ice cream is something so unique and unforgettable. It's the kind of dessert you can't really find anywhere else, and it really shows the beauty of traditional Hawaiian food with a modern twist. The whole experience feels special, from the food to the laid-back, old-style atmosphere. Please open more locations in Honolulu town we need this kind of local flavor closer to the city!

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. The kalua pig was dry, and the laulau lacked flavor, rice was hard like it was sitting in the pot all day. The poi was white with chunks throughout it and did not have the fresh taste we were expecting. Overall, the entire plate tasted like it wasn't fresh, and the poi was especially disappointing. We had heard good things about this place from friends and were excited to try it, but our experience did not live up to the recommendations. Sadly, we will not be returning.

It was so yummy, I love the fresh warm bubble waffle. I could eat it plain for how good it was. And the service was quick, from the time we ordered I would say it took 10-15 minutes for us to get our order, and in between that time a family was getting theirs too. So if it was empty I think it would've been faster

This is a very interesting ice cream/boba spot…read more It's actually a pretty small shop, but there are a few bar stools and bar table (6 in total, I believe). Upon entering, there is a table with an ordering menu that you fill out for the ice cream. There are no cones and no "parlor" for ice cream- only written options. The standard flavors of vanilla, creamy strawberry and chocolate are available as base choices. There were two "special" flavors of the day that was kona mud pie and another unique option. You can check off on the menu PER item how you want your ice cream in regards to toppings, syrups, in a cup or bubble waffle, single scoop or multiple scoops, etc. Hubby ordered a boba tea that you don't need to fill out on the menu sheet. I'm personally not a huge fan of boba, but he enjoyed it. The lime grape boba tea was what he ordered. As for ice cream, we ordered the following combinations: -Red velvet bubble waffle "cone" with kona mud pie ice cream and chocolate syrup - Classic bubble waffle cone with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and rainbow sprinkles - chocolate bubble waffle cone with creamy strawberry, oreo cookie crumbs and chocolate syrup The red velvet and classic bubble waffle were my favorite. The creamy strawberry ice cream was really good but the other flavors were on the sweet side- no additional toppings were necessary- in fact, I think it was overkill (though beautiful in presentation. I would probably come here again with the kids, but these are a little challenging to eat, in all honesty. The bubble waffle as a cone is nice, but not sturdy. The ice cream is nice, though options of flavor are limited. The ordering process is a little tedious when ordering multiple items, but it's understandable in order to get each one right. Cool stop if you're in the area. We walked there from Whole Foods Kailua main road (back) entrance.

Birthday treats in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii…read more.. Today (August 8th) is Brown's birthday. He's the bear and main character in the Korean version of Sanrio, called Line Friends. To celebrate Brown's birthday, I searched my Yelp app and found Napoleon's Bakery. Located inside of Zippy's, this bakery is convenient, has free parking, lots of variety, and has friendly service. We chose a Pianomo Roll, a chocolate-filled donut, and a famous Apple Napple. The Pianomo Roll is great for simple palates because it's a soft cake, rolled in butter and granulated sugar! For chocolate lovers, the chocolate-filled donut is just right because the fluffy yeast donut surrounds the rich center to balance it. Rounding out our sugar rush, we got the flakey Apple Napple. The crunchy exterior and fruity filling helped to satisfy our sweet tooths! If you haven't had anything from Napoleon's Bakery, other recommended items are the Long Johns, Chantilly cake, and Dobash cake. If you're celebrating a special occasion, they can write a greeting with icing on the cake! They also have mixes such as cornbread, pancake, and mochiko chicken batter mix so you can enjoy fresh goodness at home or send/bring to friends/family on the mainland. Just browse and you'll find something for anyone!
