If you're on Oahu, Island Soul Shave Ice is easily one of our favorite stops. An absolute must before or after visiting the Bishop Museum (it's only 3-4 minutes away!). The rainbow shave ice was hands-down my kids' favorite out of all the shave ice spots we tried. They loved getting to decorate their own shave ice with three different flavors. It made the experience extra fun and personal. We also tried the cassava pudding and unique flavors like jasmine, taro, and pandan--something totally new for us. As someone coming from Los Angeles, it's actually hard to find something that feels truly different, but this absolutely was. Such a fun and memorable treat! The shop itself is such a vibe! Bright, cheerful, and filled with fun murals that instantly put you in a good mood the moment you walk in. Everything was spotless and well-kept, which I really appreciated. But what truly stood out was the hospitality. The owners were incredibly warm and welcoming. Genuinely above and beyond friendly. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back again. Highly recommend!

The best shaved ice in Oahau. The flavors were unique and carefully made by this amazing family. The service is amazing and their thoughtful attention to detail with homemade cane sugar, taro, etc of other items makes this place a true gem. The owner was so sincere and kind. At the end she gave our little boy a generous cute gift. We are from California but if we lived here, this place would be on our daily list. Stop by as this wonderful little place will not disappoint. Eveything is made from scratch. You leave feeling refreshed. No fake ingredients.

We stopped here to get some shave ice on the way to pick up our car and we're not disappointed! I was a little apprehensive since it's called 'shaved ice' and not 'shave ice' but it was really good! Super cute and family friendly interior, delicious shave ice and excellent customer service. We will definitely come back!

Hot day! Shave Ice is the answer!

Hot Day! Here is the answer.... good shave on the ice, just how I like it. Home made, no artificial flavors, real cane sugar. This is a really good choice for a healthier shave ice. Healthier because they make their own everything and no artificial nothing. Expect a slightly higher price shave ice or ice shave ( yesssss) but it is so much more tastier.

This shave ice place is different from other shave ice locations. They have set, special bowls, and all of their flavors are made in-house. All of the sugar candies are also homemade and hand cut. The inside is super cute! It's a mixture between beachy, modern, and clean vibe. There's a lot of colors, a large mural painting, and cute wood stools. The customer service is also great! They are very kind and the owner is so sweet. She's a cute, warm person and you can tell she has a passion/enjoys owning her shop. You can feel her pride in her work. I really enjoyed this location and I left full from all the fruit in my bowl.

This place is so cozy and adorable. Best customer service ! The fresh fruit, sweet and sour combo. The vanilla ice cream at the bottom was everything. Must try!

I was driving around Honolulu and had a taste for shaved ice. Yelp! to the rescue; found this spot and detoured. Now customer service, friendly. They helped me choose, gave recommendations for offerings they thought I would like and alternatively, a couple to avoid that they thought my non-local tastebuds would not enjoy. I opted to add ice cream even after I saw the price tag without it. It's a nice treat but I paid $17 for shaved ice with fruit and a scoop. So treat indeed because I feel it's a few dollars overpriced. Plus it was good but I didn't really enjoy it like I had hoped. Liquidity syrup at the end and the fruit wasn't that sweet but all in all, I'd give the shaved ice 3.5/5. The shop is cute, aesthetically pleasing and lively. Definitely meant to be a fun space. It's small and easy to miss in the little shopping center, I definitely had a little trouble finding it since I didn't know what it looked like from the outside.

Wanted to get shaved ice before we headed back to the airport. Never have had true Hawaiian shaved ice so my review is less of is it authentic to shaved ice but more of my experience and my thought of this version in particular. Immediately I was impressed by the cleanliness and interior design. 10/10 in regard to those. Super kid friendly, great spots to take pictures etc. The gentleman who made our shaved ice was very friendly and very helpful in helping us choose what we wanted. He even had a toy chest that my daughter enjoyed. Nothing to complain about here but I did have some possible suggestions that could improve operational effectiveness. I believe the items we received looked incredible but the pictures on the menu did not do it justice. Maybe an update to that could help with customer selection. And the only other suggestion would be to improve the curb appeal. It should be apparent that there is a incredible and fun shaved ice place only 10 minutes from the airport! Overall loved my experience and would recommend!

Great service & flavors were on point! My kids loved the organic sugar rainbow (build your own) and we loved the #4 the strawberry & salted lemon syrup flavored one! It was the best of both worlds! Sweet & salty but worked so well together! Definitely recommend visiting! All the syrups are organically made as well!

    The best shaved ice!!

Delicious shaved ice and so pretty!! Very friendly service with excellent recommendations. The artwork inside was fun and colorful and great music to match the vibe. I also loved that they make their syrups in house! The pandan shaved ice with coconut ice cream inside, topped with coconut cream

An amazing eating experience! I have never seen this type of shaved ice eating experience. We ordered the #1 and you got to self pour all these different type of homemade organic syrups and add all these fun fresh fruit toppings! So fun to control each bite with all of the different syrups and toppings. The owner was amazing and you could tell he really wanted to make our experience amazing. I am so sad we discovered this place on our last day in Honolulu! But we will be back on our next trip! The ambiance of the place was just fun and inviting!

Amazing shaved ice. We just stopped here to kill time before heading to the airport and so glad we did. It was so refreshing on a hot day. We got the lychee shaved ice 10/10. Get it with the coconut ice cream inside and it makes it even better! Customer service was also amazing. Def recommend

Standard generous portion for a bingsu location, notably generous for an Ala Moana location. The location itself was free of insects despite being on a ground floor location with sugary desserts everywhere. Meh: The $14 (including 15% tip) dessert tasted too light and ice-like and appeared more translucent (rather than opaque white) than expected, leading me to think the milk was watered down, which may be how the establishment can make up the cost for the portion size while maintaining a spot in Ala Moana, especially given milk prices in Hawai'i, even if you're buying from Costco or direct from farmers. Also, tables were not cleaned after each party departed; that transparent puddle on your table might not be condensation and may instead be drool drops from the toddler who sat there before you. Overall: Good (not outstanding) experience. Knocked off 2 stars for combination of suspected diluted milk + unclean tables.

Another colleague and I jumped at the opportunity to tag along on a Friday early afternoon. Located down Umi Street not too far from neighboring New City Nissan on N King Street, Samurai moved to their current location in 1995 serving Maui style sherbet, popcorn and other local snacks. They also expanded to Samurai Snacks Aiea for an impressive 20+ years before closing its doors in May 2023. We arrived shortly after lunch time where we pondered at the menu wondering what to get. It's not fancy here at Samurai - - the storefront is basic and nothing fancy with a few seats patrons can sit on if they decide to eat their treats on premise. Morale has been low at the office so I decided to get some convenient prepackaged 4oz assorted Samurai cups to cheer up the staff. My colleagues also picked up some bags of buttered popcorn with mochi crunch and furikake for an informal office party to welcome the much needed weekend. Because we were already there, we also got some soft serve cups to cool down before heading back to the office. My colleagues had the classic strawberry and blue vanilla swirl and I selected the mango. My colleagues enjoyed their selection but the mango didn't live up to my expectations. The color was vibrant and enticing but sadly the mango flavor did not come through. Each cup came with a sugar roll cookie that was delicious. After our cold treat we headed back to the office with our surprise for our colleagues where it was a big hit. There were many happy faces standing in line grabbing some popcorn and a 4-oz cup of Samurai. Overall, a much better experience with Samurai that's deserving of an update with higher marks. It has been noted in my books to stick to flavors I'm already aware of and avoid trying new ones for that possible disappointment that often happens to me.
