Never had my car repaired but I would not recommend based on the nasty reception received at the desk. I stopped by asking for an estimate on New Year's Eve. Three staff members were sitting there twiddling their thumbs. I asked to have my car looked at, one said "For what?" with a sneer. I said for body damage (duh - WTF?, I thought). Continuing with the attitude they replied we do not do estimates without an appointment. I left with a little snicker. There's only about a million other body shops out there (with better ratings I might add). I would not recommend this shop for service based on the nasty attitude from the jump. Fantastic experience in every facet. Took the car in to have them assess the damage, was quick, they were informative and very clear of the expectations. The rental facility is on-site so it could not have been easier to drop the vehicle off on the date for repairs and secure a rental. I only had to cover my deductible, but the amount charged to the insurance company was extremely reasonable. I will preface this by saying that I've been to Koons Collision Repair two times prior (with no issues) and this last time has been a complete nightmare. Would NOT recommend this repair shop. Customer service is beyond terrible! I came in February 2022 to get an estimate on a side-mirror replacement for my vehicle. I notified my insurance and Koons Collision, as they are partners. I had an appt set for March 8; came in, only to learn that the two businesses did not communicate so the mirror was not ordered. OK - honest mistake. I made another appt for March 18...took the day off from work and brought my car in; dropped it off and got a call an hour later from the shop saying 'sorry, the mirror didn't arrive.' Made an appt AGAIN... this time for March 24 (as I was told they should definitely have the mirror in my 3/23). I called the shop the day before my appt to confirm the mirror arrived, spoke with Ryan who said he 'was looking at my file and about to call me' (total BS) and he'd check on the status of the mirror and call me back in 10 minutes. Ten minutes came and went, no call from Ryan. I finally called again this morning (day of my appt) and was told to make another appt for a week from today when 'the mirror should arrive.' At this point, I am livid. I've now taken off three days from work only to be told the mirror is still not here. I would have appreciated a call from THEM, rather then me calling them to get an update. Please go elsewhere. This place sucks!! I will never, EVER...EVER do business with them again and will steer my friends away from this body shop at all costs. Save your money. There are a hundreds of other repair shops in Alexandria that will value you and your money. read more

About a 3.5: Making an appointment for a collision repair with Koons was pretty simple. They have partnerships with various insurance companies, and I was told to make an appointment with them at a date/time of my choosing directly online. The dates/times available were of wide range, and, if there is any need in rescheduling, making the necessary changes was very simple. Due to me being an early bird, I did the first available appointment on a weekend. When we arrived, however, the building supposedly did not open at a later time (but, were let in after a few minutes past our appointment). I was slightly disappointed/annoyed that the scheduled appointment time was not adhered to, as we actually ended up waiting for a good additional 20-30 minutes or so for the adjuster/estimator (they had to get in as well as gather all the information prior to meeting us). The walk-through of the estimation was simple enough, giving time to answer any questions or concerns; I was told that I would be contacted with the final estimation as well as constant updates on the progress of my car. However, I didn't receive any calls, but instead, the hubs did (he was the other point of contact, but wasn't listed as a primary number; that was a little confusing). A disgrace! Shoddy work and failure to take responsibility for mistakes... They did work on my car in August and did a botched job. Fast forward to the last week where they did more work: 1) I return to find rust on the wheels of my 2 year old car. 2) The paint job where repairs were done doesn't match the rest of the car. 3) I pointed out where the trunk was botched from work that they did in August, and they took it back to repair it, but when they return, the items in my trunk are soaking wet!!!! I've had to throw away some things, but I haven't been able to assess everything yet! The manager Dave acknowledges my soaked belongings and does nothing! Now I've waisted time assessing and drying things, and even having to replace things! This place is the pits!!! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! read more

I had a fantastic experience using Koons Collision for repairs after being rear ended. This is a GEICO auto express location that also has an Enterprise car rental onsite. I made the appointment through GEICO and arrived early to my 7:30 AM appointment last Monday. I was warmly greeted and filling out documents by 7:25 AM and I was in my rental car by 7:35 AM. Throughout the process Koons was communicative and helpful. I was notified when they first examined my car, I was notified when they were having a second adjuster come out, and I was notified when they got the A-OK to repair instead of totaling the car. I was given a date of the following Friday for my car to be ready, but it was actually ready Monday so I picked it up bright and early today (Tuesday). The service was great from start to finish. If I had any self-created repairs needing to be made, I would definitely consider bringing my car here since the repair through the insurance company went so smoothly. read more

My car was parked near a shooting and took my car to repair 10/9/2021 and it took them until this date exactly to get my vehicle back. I took it in just for a window fix and took so long to get my car back and the fact that I was not able to get a rental up to this date is ridiculous.. I was informed my rental was expiring to apply to another one, I was left with no car meaning I could not transport to work. Overall, I am aware that the repair center has nothing to do with getting a car rental but the service here is real slow. read more

TL;DR If you value your time, your money, or your property. Do not ever come here. This is by far the worst body shop in the DMV. Not only did they cause about 50x the damage than the origin accident did, they lied, do horrible quality work, and a 1 week repair quickly turned into a 2+ month repair. Always check your vehicle BEFORE driving it off the property or returning your rental at ALL body shops. Especially this one. I brought my silver sedan to this shop around the middle of May. I didn't receive it back until mid July. I dropped my car off with a relatively small amount of damage when someone side swiped my car as I was parked at the metro. (Picture of damage included) I was told this would take 1 week to fully repair. I returned after 1 week to find that the small amount of damage had been repaired, but every single one of my doors, door handles, bumper, and front fenders were heavily scratched. My inside drivers door handles had been completely scratched and broken. There was polishing compound all over my windshield, drivers side window, rear window, passenger window, headlights, taillights, and my window seals. I did not accept my car and they said they would fix it. I returned no less than 4 more times to them saying it was done, to find no work had been done. I repeatedly asked to speak to the manager and was told "he isn't here" or "sorry he's not answering". Yet when i finally spoke to the manager he told me nobody had told him they did damage and this issue had happened. This was a major issue as he is supposed to write a report to my insurance company explaining why it wasn't fixed, and that Koons collision was supposed to have been paying for the rental car not my insurance company.(eventually Koons did retroactively cover the cost as they were supposed too) I thank god I have USAA as I never had a single issue getting anything covered and I didn't have to deal with anything myself. USAA took care of it all. I learned an important lesson here that just because a shop is brand name (Koons Collision) and looks nice. Does not mean they do anything other then shoddy, and downright deviant work. I wouldn't send anybody but my absolute worst enemy back to this place. read more

Here's the short version of the story... I'm driving down the street and a guy opens his door into my car. Crash, boom, shatter. Okay, maybe not boom, but it was loud and I had no idea what damage had been done. Said car door opener guy was in a company car so his insurance paid to fix my dented fender, ripped off/dangling by wires side view mirror, replace my right window and of course, repaint. His insurance agent called me within a few hours and an estimate guy came by office the next day. He said I could go anywhere but they have a guaranteed repair shop nearby and it was Koon's. I verbally agreed to come here and once I came back inside, I instantly yelped! (Duh....) Great reviews brought me here. And now I give back. Frank was my contact person and he was excellent. He was there when I dropped the car off on Saturday morning and gave me an estimated Wednesday pick up, Thursday at the latest. Tuesday I got an update saying the car might be ready early Wednesday. Frank notified me while at work that it was indeed ready so I picked my car up all shiny and new and not dented or broken that afternoon. The work was excellent. The paint job was excellent. My car rear hatch was crinkled and had to be completely replaced along with other damage done. They made the repair/replacement working with my insurance and my deductible. They found more damage when they opened Pandora's box but once again they worked with my insurance and I didn't occur any additional expenses. This is a solid body shop. A teenager merged into me during DC rush hour so you can imagine the damage was just some scuffs and scratches. The GEICO adjuster estimated $900. The Koons guys really took their time and it ended up being a $2,000 repair. The end result was a 9.8/10 from me. The only complaint I have is one of the new parts isn't adhered completely with the body. Maybe that's just how it has to be - I'm not a car body guy. I can see how the part is glued (or whatever) flush like new, but the very end is coming off just a bit. You know, like it was just sealed down in the middle, so the end is pliable if you pull at all, and come up off the body. I hope that doesn't result in long-term issues! But they did great work with the paint job. Perfect match. read more

I had massive damage to my car from a severe auto accident. They quoted me 6 weeks to repair it, which is longer than I had hoped it would take, but understandable since they practically had to build me a new car. They had the car ready on the date they said it would be done. There were 3 minor issues with the repair. One was a small (1 inch) spot of paint towards the bottom of the car that wasn't fixed. They offered to try to sand it out but that didn't fix it enough for my liking. I had to bring it back and they repainted the entire section and that fixed it perfectly. After that I noticed a very small imperfection in the paint on the door, and also a panel in the back that's not totally aligned correctly, but nothing worth bringing the car back over since nobody would ever notice it. After the repairs were all complete, I brought the car to a company that inspects cars that have been repaired after an accident to check the qualify of the repairs. He was very impressed with the repair quality and said it was done better than average, and most of the problem he sees in major repairs were not present. He seemed surprised by how good a job they did. Aside from the few minor issues, the only other issue I had was dealing with Greg Bills who was my primary point of contact. He seemed to have an unfriendly attitude problem every time I dealt with him and at one point I had to go over his head to the company manager because he would not give me an invoice/statement for the rework on the paint problem. If I ever went back there, I would insist on having the repair assigned to someone else. However when I did complain about him, the company's general manager was very friendly and apologetic and quickly addressed the issue. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP!!! Just because Geico tells you this might be the best shop closest to you, do not do it! Do your research first then take it. The adjusters don't listen to you no matter how much you might know about car repairs and force you to take your vehicle when your car isn't properly repaired even though they give you a GUARANTEE on the car parts and repairs. They also LIE and are RUDE! I even contacted a supervisor to make a complaint. Did I get a call back? Nope. It's a damn embarrassment to other repair shops and Geico as a company. The worst Mechanic ever! I had to replace a rim, a wheel and some tire mounts from an accident. The shop told me it would take about a week. A week came so I called and they said they needed to order a part and it would take another week. This happened every week for 6 weeks I finally get my car back 6 weeks later and go to put groceries in the trunk and all the old parts are just laying in the trunk. The car kept pulling to the right so I decided to check my air pressure. The air pressure was fine on all the tires but I realize they put the wrong size tire on. The tire was 4 inches bigger than the rest. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with their quality of work! read more

I only deduct a star because we started out rocky. We brought the car in Monday morning and did not hear from anyone until Wednesday evening, only to tell us that the appraisal was incorrect and a new part would need to be ordered. We were told the part would arrive on Friday and work would begin the following Monday. Well someone forgot to order the new part and have the claim adjusted and approved. The only reason we found this out was by calling that Tuesday. Once the part was finally ordered we were told it would take 2 weeks to arrive? Not having rental insurance we took the car back, with almost 2 weeks of being carless. The only reason we went back to Koons to have the repairs done was because of Tye. He was very empathetic and helpful. He told us to bring the car back whenever we could and he would have it done in 3 days. He was not just saying that to make us happy either. We brought the car back about 1 month later and it was done in 3 days exactly. The work they do is immaculate. From the paint matching/blending and jam gaps. There was no sign of any repair, and the car looks original. I honestly could not have been happier with the job that was done. Like most reputable collision centers they do warranty their work for as long as you own the vehicle. We would recommend working with Tye, as he keeps his promises and gets the job done! I will not go back to Koons and will not recommend this shop. I took my truck to koons because the insurance deals directly with them. I thought it was a no brainer because of the Koons name and simple repairs needed. WRONG. The estimate called for replacing my driver side tail light and rear bumper on my 2008 Yukon. Simple. It started with getting them to do an estimate. I went on a saturday - no insurance adjuster. I return on a monday, the system is down. I return the next week , after making an appointment & dropped off my truck. i get a voicemal the FOLLOWING DAY asking me if I was still bringing in my truck. WTF? The next week after dropping off my truck , I needed a rental car. I had to argue with the receptionist because she WANTED Me to BRING BACK the truck (a fourth time) for repairs. NOW, this simple repair was becoming a huge hassle. I won that arguement and got my rental vehicle. After repairs were complete, i went to examine it. What did i find? My bumper's paint was blemished underneath both tail lights. This tells me it was a RUSH JOB that yielded poor work and probably hoped that i wouldn't notice. I did notice and let them redo the work This was a simple repair job but they made it an exhausting experience. But, yes my truck is back to normal read more

There are better Collision&Repair shops in the DMV area. Just do some research and don't let GEICO pick whatever repair shop is convenient (and cheaper) for them. GEICO and Enterprise work out of this location as well. Work here took almost a month when it should've only taken 2 weeks. I was called to pick up my car and was unable to leave with it because someone forgot to put my new tire on (tire was in the shop). i then waited a few more days to get my car and had to return again a few days later because there were parts rattling in my door that was supposed to be fix. This was after 30 days of it being in the shop. It was a 5 series BMW so maybe they weren't familiar enough with my car but either way I wouldn't return here. read more

Some kid ran his truck into my vehicle in DC on a Sunday afternoon. A friend highly recommended Koons for the body repair, said their service was top-notch (location near my house also a plus). When I dropped off my vehicle, I was greeted by a nice lady who was very helpful, and I met Lionel from Koons and Chris from Geico, who both walked me through what was going to happen. I had even planned to just take the bus to work from there, but they insisted on letting me catch a ride with a different Chris to the nearest Metro station. This was on a Wednesday before Memorial Day, and I kind of needed my vehicle back by the weekend but told them I'd understand if that wasn't possible. Chris called me Wednesday afternoon and said I should have it back by Thursday or Friday ... and Lionel called me Friday morning to say it would be ready by 1pm. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, I was met by Gigi, a friendly lady who carefully went over my bill and took care of wrapping up my paperwork. I had a chance to thank Lionel and Chris again before I left. The work was great -- the bumper is good as new, as is the license plate bracket. And they even washed and vacuumed it -- an unexpected bonus. A few years ago, one friend dealt with Koons and had a disappointing experience. This other friend who recommended Koons this time around said his experience was completely opposite of that, and I can see why. The staff seem to like their jobs, they are all quite professional and efficient. I hope I never have to go through this experience again, but if I do, I know where I'll go. read more

I am hard pressed to find a negative trait about this business. They are quick, friendly, detailed, and invariably helpful every time I have interacted with them. Xenia was the front desk clerk and always greeted me with a smile. She also offered me coffee while I waited. Laura was equally as good. Quick, service with a smile. She even came to work under the weather so that her "coworkers wouldn't be stiffed with the workload." Pretty selfless if you ask me. They sent me text updates about my car's completion date. They, along with Enterprise, with whom I rented a car next door, understood that I could not return the rental by New Years weekend, allowing me to return the car without additional charges on the next business day. Laura gave me a detailed walk around and showed me pictures of the repair process, showing just how far the damage went. She was also communicative, calling me and being easy to reach when information needed conveying. Onto the repairs. The car looked like new when I picked it up. They even fixed and straightened out my novelty Red Sox license plate! I was disappointed thinking that it was bent beyond repair. Only a few MINOR downsides. I would have hoped that they could gas up the tank, as I brought my rental back with a full tank, although I understand that this isn't their responsibility. Also my rear view mirror was a bit foggy. In the end, great experience! I recommend them for your repair needs, although as I haven't interacted with other employees, I do recommend Laura to any potential customer. I got rear ended a few weeks ago, and it only caused minor damage to my bumper. From the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be different, but I wasn't sure it would be for the best. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed and was greeted promptly by receptionist. She took my information and told me about the free coffee and to have a seat in the waiting area. I was greeted by the Geico adjuster (Kristin) a short time after that. She was amazing. She was very helpful and took care of all my questions and explained things step by step. She walked me over to Enterprise Rental Car (in the same building), and everything was all set up for me to get a car. The guys over at Enterprise were great too. Very professional. I'm a tall guy and Geico had originally had me renting a "standard size" vehicle. The Enterprise member noticed my size and offered to talk to Kristin about upgrading to a larger car. I was thrilled because the standard size car is a little too small for a guy well over 6 feet. Kristin once again surprised me, and approved a larger vehicle. I received updates throughout the repair process via phone calls, text messages, and e-mails. That was awesome. My car was fixed to perfection in a very short amount of time. I can say now, with certainty, this place being different was for the best. This is how every place should be and act. Other auto body shops need to copy this model they have here. Pleasure dealing with Frank and Tic in the beginning .. ( I even thanked them both ) until I had to come back to advise them about a few scratches I didn't have on my car before ... (which neither of them would admit fault originally) until I got my claim advisor involved . Fast forward to them fixing the damages they made and I never received a courtesy call from Tic or Frank to insure I was satisfied with the result . They're great when it comes to fixing damages (from a car accident , etc) but when it's their fault and they mess up it's another "attitude" you receive.
