Never take your car to get serviced here!! I dropped my car off in the morning after making an appointment. When I didn't hear anything by 5 pm I called to check on it. They never had any record at all of my car being there! I was put on hold for 20 minute before being transferred to another person and had to explain everything all over again. The employees were rude and did not seem to care about the fact that they inconvenienced me at all. I will never go back here!! read more

Koons Sterling Ford consistently provides the worst auto service experience I have ever seen. They do not have a sufficient number of loaner cars to service their client base, so you usually cannot get a loaner unless you make a reservation weeks in advance. Even then, they LIE about the availability of loaners. Three days ago they confirmed that they had reserved a loaner for me to cover a service appointment today, and again yesterday. When I arrived on time to drop my car off for service, their nasty service advisor revealed for the first time that they don't give loaners for oil change appointments. Why did they promise a loaner on the phone, repeatedly, when they were told the appointment was for an oil change? They are so screwed up it is beyond redemption. And their service reps are unapologetically nasty when you drop your vehicle off for service. They are also big on selling you service you really don't need once your car is in their shop. Overall, a horrible, hostile, rip-off operation. I have used them in the past solely because I live nearby, but their really bad attitude and disdain for customers has pushed me past my limits. We stop by July 4 for an appraisel and because i want it to trade in my jeep wrangler for an explorer. So we got there and Will assisted us and explained how the process work. Im not going to lie but Will customer service was really good. So we waited 5 hours for nothing- the financing guy asked me if my SSN was real if i was a green card holder or a citizen"( i was kind of confused because no one had ever ask me this type of question". So the next day i Stop by with my SSN card and my four last paystub and guess what i waited another 5 hours for no nothing the only answer that i got from them was "i need a co-signer with areal "SSN" green card or citizenship certificate or passport; something that proves that the person is legal in this country" (apperantly my credit score was too low and i don't get pay enough). I left Because i was so mad. I am sorry but im not new in this business and i know how things works. (I own a house). If i own a house in this country its because im legal!!! They were asking for so many Sh*** and its not like i was buying a house or a Bently or a raptor. Like Wtf! It was a $27k explorer. I felt do descriminated!!! I would never go back to this place. After sending a letter and pictures to the owner, the General Manager of Koons Sterling Ford (Steve Brown) in Virginia contacted us. He was apologetic and he made everything right! He gave us a full refund on the vehicle including the shipping cost both ways. He had the car promptly picked up. Originally the sales team were totally unethical and a bunch of liars selling us a garbage vehicle while calling it showroom condition. So they deserve a zero out of 5 stars. When we finally were able to get GM Steve Brown's attention things improved. Mr. Brown customer service was exceptional as he gave us a full refund on everything. So he deserves 5 out of 5 stars. I took my Edge in for the first time to get an oil change and tire rotation. Overall it was a good experience. I called and got an appointment the same day which was great. Took it in but when I got there it was a little confusing where I was supposed to go in the service area to get help and initially there was no one to help me...hence 4 stars and not 5. It took about an hour and a half which I thought was reasonable. I Just went to the mall next door for lunch while I waited. Got an email when it was done...very convenient. The price was reasonable with the Works package and they even sent the rebate in for me. I'll be back again. read more

Do not go there. If there was any way to give a no star rating I would have given it. Went to Koons Ford Sterling VA. looking to buy a new car. Their ad, both on TV & the internet, offered 125% above Kelly Blue Book for your trade. We have a 2011 Ford Escape in great shape with only 61,000 miles. We bought it new in 2011. On their web site they had a link to calculate the value of your trade (Kelly Blue Book / Koons Sterling web site). So I used it. Put in year, make, model, trim line, & mileage. It asked what condition I thought it was in (Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor) & offered questions to figure it out like body damage if any, interior damage if any, condition of the tires, etc. I answered all the questions & their web site said the car was in Good condition. I consider it to be at least Very Good but I went along with Good. It came up with a trade in value of $7,800 which I thought was low. But I figured I go with that since they were offering 125% over Kelly Blue Book which should be about $9500. Well when I got there they offered $5,300. What????? They said that it's 125% of Kelly Blue Book's Fair rating. What????? They said the fact they use the Fair rating is in the small print. They also said that no car is in the Good, Very Good, or Excellent range. All cars are either Fair or Poor. Also, once they determine the Fair value then they deducted more for any damage or wear & tear. What????? I thought that was taken into account when they rated the vehicle Fair. But no!!!!! They rate the vehicle Fair based on the damage & wear & tear & then they deduct more for the damage & the wear & tear. The tires on the vehicle aren't new but they still have about 20,000 miles to go on them. But Koons said they will need to be replaced & rated the vehicle Fair based in part on the tire condition & then deducted another $1000 because they said the tires needed to be replaced. They rated the vehicle Fair based in part on the scratches & nicks in the paint & then deducted another $300 for the scratches & nicks in the paint. What a rip off. The sales manager even said that they don't use Kelly Blue Book (KBB) to appraise car values because KBB don't know what vehicle values should be. They said they use their own standards to appraise vehicles. If this is the case why do they put in their advertisement 125% over KBB. Needless to say we drove home in the same vehicle we drove down there in. But I did learn something. Don't believe all the great sounding advertising because they are ususally lying. I am giving Koons Sterling FORD one star because that is as low as they will let me. My salesman J-ROD was OK. he pretty much knew exactly what I wanted [2018 MUSTANG GT PREM ] I called him on JULY 13 and told him to get the car ready I want it. My wife and I drove four and half hours from central W V to Sterling VA. The car was there waiting for me when we arrived !!!!!!! It looked like it was ran through a quarter car wash and they used only one quarter ! You would think a $46000 car with 22 miles on it would be cleaner than that ! After going through a brief walk through with J-ROD about all the bells and whistles on (MY DREAM CAR) I was sent to ALEX (I believe that was his name) the finance manager!!! That is when the experience started going south! He started the conversation by telling me what a great credit score I had and he could get good rate. I told him I had a long drive home and I wanted to get on the road. I said I would pay cash. He did not like that at all ! Then he tried to sell me a extended warranty ! I said I did not need it let me pay you so I can get on the road, Then he lowered the price on the warranty . I asked him what didn't he understand about NO!!!! I was just about ready to hit him in the nose ! But I didn't realize this was just the beginning of the worst buying experience I ever had. The next day I decided to clean my new mustang inside and out. I discovered that the engine compartment was really dirty and did not look right. The motor appeared to have corrosion on the block! After further inspection I discovered that the underside (floor pan, drive shaft, transmission ) all had rust and (salt) corrosion on it. I called Koons Sterling Ford and told them what I found . The sales manager said it just sand and blew me off. I said no its salt- I tasted it and it was salt ! They had my money and they got rid of a piece of shit and had nothing to do with me after that. BUT WAIT PEOPLE !!! YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT WITH THIS KIND OF CRAP FROM KOONS STERLING FORD ! There is a ford customer relations number in your owners book. I called it and explained everything that I wrote here to a very nice gentleman named R D. He said he was going to put me on hold for a few minutes and gave me his direct number in case we got disconnected. R D got back with me in few minutes and said the sales manager at Koons Sterling Ford will be calling me today!!!! IMAGINE THAT ! There is someone out there that actually puts the customer first ! Well about 15 minutes later I got a call from my salesman J-ROD not the sales manager but that's ok . He probably not happy with me because I turned him to ford customer relations . Like I give a shit ! But guess what???? J-ROD said that Koons Ford is buying my car back and will send a driver to WV to pick it u p with a full refund! PS I got my dream car LOCAL Nov. 2 2019 . Paid a little more but got a whole lot more. I think in a few months (on my 70th birthday) I will have my RUBY RED METALIC MUSTANG GT supercharged !!! Every kid needs at least one 900 HUNDRED HORSEPOWERED toy in their life! OH! by the way! Koon's service department has impressed me over the past two years. I bought my truck there with an extended maintenance warranty (which includes a loaner car) in 2010. At every servicing interval, they have honored the loaner request and have never charged me for the covered work. They communicate regularly with you by phone and email to ensure the appointment is remembered and the scheduled servicing is correct, then apprise you of progress on the servicing the day of the work. In one case that required work over several days, they provided the loaner for the entire time. read more

I came to Koons for Service on a Ford Explorer that I lease. The screen for the radio had gone out and I had to get something replaced. They told me up front it would take a few days to get the part. I had an oil change at the time too. Joey was helping me that day and he said no problem, just pay us for that when you come back for the other service. No big deal, but I thought this was really nice. I came back as scheduled and got the repair done without any issues while I waited. The one suggestion I would make is that they need someone or several people to take the responsibility to greet customers as they show up and acknowledge them and make sure they are in the right place and let them know how long a wait they may have. I sort of stood around a bit to try to get someone to talk to me at first. I am not shy so I just introduced myself to someone and had them address my needs, but if I hadn't I am not sure how long I would have had to wait. read more

Keep the service staff; thank them and fire the call center ! I purchased and have had my F250 SD serviced their since. Avoid the call center at all costs. Schedule DIRECTLY with the service department. The service staff is fantastic; th service quality and price is great; the ownership has crippled them with an incompetent call center. The service staff helps over the phone and gets service done on time - but the call center has a different computer system and cannot 'see' what is scheduled on any day. I will not bore you with the details but I know because of a specific incident. While frustrating, it got resolved by the service staff and I will continue to go there and would recommend anyone there. When I first started taking my truck here back in 2012, I was really disappointed with the service/customer service I was receiving. That is when I met Joey Stickman; he noticed my look of disappointment and asked what the issue was and immediately did everything he could to ensure I was satisfied. If it wasn't for Joey Stickman's excellent customer service; I would not have brought my truck back. Even when I have a bad run in with a service tech or am unhappy with the services provided; he immediately responds and remedies the situation. When he first took over as service director/manager - he was taking over a team in disarray, dealing with conflict and stress. It takes time to change an entire departments overall team performance, working relationships and well-being - but Joey is going to be the one that builds a stronger more effective team. Since then my husband and I have always went back to Joey for any service related questions/concerns... This past Saturday I dealt with Joe Hopson because Joey was not in and he demonstrated excellent customer service even though I know he had to be stressed because it was a very busy, hectic Saturday! Honestly I think most days are hectic, I always see the service department/waiting area FULL of people and cars for service - with that being said; I am giving 5 stars because I know this service department is going to continue to improve!! read more

Koons is a great source for Mustangs! It was a difficult choice finding the right Mustang, but after searching the DC area - Koons Sterling Ford had the selection. I felt I needed to be prepared with my prices though, since you pay for this selection if you aren't ready to haggle a bit. Overall the salesman, Paul Walsh, was outstanding; and I recommend the dealership. And, the financing beat my credit union which isn't easy to do. I can't speak to the service department, but I can say that I have had an excellent experience buy two vehicles from this dealer. In both instances, there was no haggling and I received what I thought was a far superior price on the vehicles. In fact, in both instances, I negotiated the price via email after I had done all of my research and knew about what I could expect to pay. Both times, Koon's was responsive and came back with a great price. My most recent experience was with Ben Kayisbudak. He was extremely nice, responsive, and pleasant to deal with. We bought a new F150 King Ranch this weekend from Steve Arnold and we've honestly never had a better car buying experience. We got an amazing deal! One of the best things is that everything is very fast and efficient and at no time did we ever feel like we were being strung along or BS'd. Everyone knows how long it can take to go buy a car, but from walking in the door to being walked out by Steve and handed the keys, we were there a total of about three hours. I was simply amazed! We had our children with us, one of whom is only 16 months old, so being that fast and efficient is a huge plus. I just can't say enough good things. Steve is one of the nicest guys we've ever met, not just the nicest salesman. He has forever earned our business no matter who he works for!! Thanks Steve!! And thanks Koons!! I went to Koons to sell them my Jeep that I had listed online for a while. I was given an internet offer contingent upon a visual inspection, so I took it in. I was greeted by JC who got me set up and got the process started. Within five minutes one of the used car managers was taking a look at my truck, and the inspection itself was done in less than twenty minutes. I expected there to be haggling on the offer due to the condition of the vehicle but there was none at all. The used car manager was straight forward and held to the offer. JC was helpful and patient despite us being on hold with my credit union for a while, and was professional the whole way through. If it wasn't for a mistake of mine pertaining to the lien on my truck, the process would have taken less than an hour. I dropped my Ford pickup off at Koons to have the front brakes checked and a couple of other small pieces of work done. I specifically asked if there would be a charge for an estimate on the brakes and was told no -- no estimate charge. In fact I was charged a $99 estimate fee. The estimate for the brake work was $1700. I refused to let Koons do the work and took the vehicle to another car repair shop. They did all necessary work on the brakes for $410. In my view, Koon's service department is dishonest, plain and simple. read more
