I've passed by Kooper's a million times and have eaten next door at Slainte but never actually went into Kooper's. This past Saturday I was invited there for brunch so I finally had the right opportunity. I like the look and feel of this establishment. It's fairly bright and airy near the front, but gets kinda dark and moody past the stairs, which is my vibe in a nutshell, lol. My group sat at a table tucked next to the stairs, farther away from the door. It was a nice table, surrounded on 2 sides by a bench, plus 3 seats on the other side. We had plenty of room. We were waiting for an additional person to show up to put in our food orders, but the waitress was attentive and brought our drinks and water over quickly. I perused the menu and was distracted by all the possible great options. I eventually ended up doing the fish and chips, because that entree usually never disappoints me. My plate, when the food came out, was a wee underwhelming. The fish were big but looked a little undercooked, and so did the fries...they were pretty light and I like a bit of crunch on the edge of a fry. Oh well, they were edible. The fish could have been fried harder as well and was a bit light on the seasoning, but some hot sauce perked everything right up! The highlight of the night was a cup of gumbo one of my party ordered to share with the table. It was slap ya momma good and I wanted to pour it over my whole entree! Came to Kooper's Tavern randomly for dinner while walking past it this weekend and ended up really liking it! The outdoor seating area is nice, the food is good in my opinion, and the servers are friendly - I (sort of jokingly) told our waiter that I liked heavy pours for my second glass of wine and he delivered! The food comes out quickly too which I appreciated. After seeing high praise for the truffle fries on Yelp, I ended up ordering the bison burger (Ricky Bobby) with the infamous truffle fries, and thought it was delicious! My friend ordered the Sumer salad (yes it's actually spelled that way) and said she liked it. Overall, it was a good meal, I would definitely go back. As a side note, I thought the glasses were really cute with the dog etched on them, I briefly thought about taking one home with me, but of course I didn't! read more

Stopped here for a bite to eat on a hot Saturday. The restaurant has a nice view of the harbor so we opted to sit outside. Our waitress, Shelby, was great. She was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. For entrees we ordered a cheese pizza and a burger. The pizza was just meh but the burger was good. The old bay chips that came with the burger were tasty. After reading some reviews I regret not getting the truffle fries so I'll be back to give them a try! read more

Came here on my first ever visit ever to Baltimore and this was the first restaurant I checked out. I went with an old college friend who is a Baltimore local and was curious himself to try it out. I ordered the chicken Sammy with sweet potato fries on the side. The chicken sandwich was immaculate really good blend of flavors and I felt it was cooked to perfection. It truly wasn't too greasy or falling apart like a lot of other chicken sandwich takes other restaurants have. The fries I think could have been a bit better they were a little too crispy to my liking but it seems Baltimore locals do prefer their foods to be crispier. I also ordered a beer with my order and don't recall the exact name but I do recall it being an oatmeal stout and felt as though it really went well nicely with the meal. If I were a local I would absolutely visit this place again for the location alone and great view within the Fells Point neighborhood and the food and awesome venue led me to sharing this hidden gem if anyone else is visiting Baltimore anytime soon . read more

Outdated review---gotta go back and try them again :) Stopped in on a cold Tuesday for the build your own burger half off special. Tried the Koopers beer which is brewed by heavy seas for Kooper's it was only $3. I had the veggie burger which was a bean burger (wasn't bad) and I added pickled onions mushrooms and goat cheese! My burger was under $10 and was fantastic. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our food during happy hour. I would definitely return for both food and drinks. The atmosphere was nice because it's themed around doggos and the walls were lined with pup paintings. They have outdoor seating and a heater outside for the cold days. So naturally dogs are welcome as well. It's right along the water front in fells point and just steps away from interesting shops and bars. read more

It took longer than expected to get water after sitting down and for our server to come by and take our order. Otherwise, the food came out fairly quickly and our server did check on us. The burger was pretty good. I was disappointed with the amount of fries given, especially since you pay extra for any upgrades. The sweet potato fries could use some salt or seasoning. We decided to visit Kooper's Tavern for a midweek outing because of the fair pricing and option for outdoor seating. The outdoor patio is cute and a nice option if you're looking to enjoy Fells Point. The Blueberry Mojito was enjoyable! Fresh and well-balanced. Unfortunately, the food leaves more to desire. The Blackened Ahi Tuna was the best thing I ordered here. It is tasty and has a nice balance of flavors. The Ricky Bobby Bison Burger with truffle fries is disappointing. It lacks flavor. The truffle fries could use more flavor as well. We ordered the Chicken Sammy (not pictured) which lacked flavor. When our order arrived, the side of fries were incorrectly plated. The service was okay. It took a bit for a waitress to come over and she did not check on us much during our visit. For the location, I wish the food and service were better. read more

*This review is for the bar only* We stumbled in here one night looking for a quieter bar in a rowdy area, and this seemed perfect. The music was exactly what you would expect at an Irish pub. Sitting at the bar, service was top notch - I just had water and they made sure it was full to the brim the whole time. We had been drinking all around Baltimore, and this was hands down the best pricing. Granted, my boyfriend just got a Jameson and coke, but cheap and heavy pour. Can't ask for much more. Simple bar, great staff. It is a pub in an area that is heavily frequented, so expect sticky counters and typical pub atmosphere, but was a wonderful surprise compared to everywhere else around it. I'm not sure if I would try food here, but if we lived in the area, we would probably be regulars drinking on Friday nights! read more

Had an overnite stay at Inner Harbor and were in the mood for crab cakes. The hotel highly recommended this location (they have a few more) and now we know why. The area was pedestrian friendly with many opportunities for other outside dining, so glad we had a destination in mind. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Flew in from west coast & with the 3 hour time change and sleeping on the plane, a smaller but very heavy suitcase full of wedding gear, I still couldn't check into my new hotel so I opted to bring it to lunch... no one helped me with my bag, no help opening the door or helped me with where to properly store it, (not that they are required too) but as an entering customer I was watched by the manager, a bar tender and the host struggle to bring it up the stairs & open the door. The bar was completely empty or I would have opted to ask to store somewhere else, I figured I'd put it between the seats. Then the worst part was the manager thought I was like homeless or something, and refused me service. I was meeting my friends there for lunch who were going to help me with my luggage after lunch. I was told to go somewhere else, had to lug my suitcase out with no help once again, no help with the door or anything. This place has terrible service and rude management. Go to Barcocina brunch/lunch for for better food & service & setting!!! I should not be judged or refused unless I do something wrong. You are the size of a small food truck, I would be nicer to your customers and thankful that they are bringing you business, I will make it a point to talk negative on your business -When dining at near by restaurants, I will be sure to make conversation with the bar tenders, servers, friends, family, business, and everyone else I talk to about local Fells restaurant reviews & recommendations. I have never been refused service in my life which should tell you something, I am a respectful adult and host myself well. Your manager is disrespectful & one day you will see how he is driving away customers & doing the bare minimum. You had an empty bar and at the end refused service to 4- generous 35 year olds. The bartender on duty was likely mad as well, as that was his income- he politely gave me a drink and food menu and then said he had no idea why the manager told him that, which is when I then asked for the manager and he had no reason either. I was was completely sober, dressed in a Fells point nice attire. He judged me solely based on my looks & suitcase. I had not even talked to anyone yet. Unfortunately, it wasn't until 10 mins. later we had to stop a server to ask for water. We then waited another fifteen mins. for that server or any server for that matter to attempt to take our order. We just got up and walked out when they finally came to take our order. My friend and I stopped in for drinks and apps on a weeknight. It was way more people dining in the restaurant that night (inside and out) then they expected because it wasn't that many people working. The bartender was also our server and at some point the back server. I ordered tequila (they didn't have Don Julio) on the rocks with a splash of Sprite and fresh limes. The pour was perfect. My second drink was a regular ole margarita. My old faithful. It was really regular and taste a lot like sweet and sour mix. Next time I'll stick with the tequila in the rocks with lime. My friend ordered they're specialty Mule and loved it! We starting with a half pound of shrimp. Tasty! I ordered the crab cake sandwich with regular fries. My friend ordered a chicken Cesar wrap with sweet potatoes fries. We both highly considered upgrading to the truffle fries but didn't. My crab cake had very little filler, pretty meaty, which is great. It also had very little flavor. Like none. From the taste and look of it the crab cake appeared to be a mix of lump crab and backfin meat. The sandwich needed Old Bay and mustard because it was so bland. It was also greasy and hard on the edges which made me think the crab cake may have been thrown back into the grease when I ordered it. My friend's chicken Caesar wrap was also bland and dry. She added salt, pepper, and asked for more dressing. My friend recommended this place for brunch, never been for dinner so we just gave it a try. I'd pass on dinner and try them for brunch because she said it's pretty good and features bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. read more

The service: We were seated immediately upon arrival. The server was quick to take our order and the food all arrived quickly. Our server and the other servers in the restaurant was quick to clear items from our table. They were also quick to refill our drinks. They all checked in on our table frequently. The food: Overall, the food was ok. I didnt like the old bay wings at all. I was quite sure what to expect of the old bay wings. All they did was toss the wings in old bay seasoning. So kind of using the old bay as a dry rub seasoning. But it didn't give the wings any real flavor. The burger and fries were really good. The burger is made to order and cooked to your desired temperature. But be advised that you have to pay for every topping, including pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes, which are standard on restaurant burgers. The fish and chips, my brother said it was ok. There was way more chips (fries) then fish. The battering on the fish was really thick. He ended up pulling the battering off. My daughter loved the BBQ boneless wings. Stopped by for dinner and drinks. It looked super cute while we were walking by. We waited a long time for anyone to come take drink orders. The hostess had to track down our server and let them know we were waiting. (She mentioned they were "chit chatting" in the back. I ordered wings and a steak sandwich with no cheese. The wings came out and they were fair could have used more sauce but fine. Shortly after another server brought another plate of wings and a steak sandwich WITH cheese. We let him know we already had the wings but needed the steak sandwich WITHOUT cheese. It took about 20 minutes to get a corrected sandwich. When it came it was bland and dry. Zero seasoning. No mayo. Just not very good. Service was slow and pretty inattentive. Also this place is NOT wheelchair accessible and none of the bathroom stalls have safety handles. Food was good. The service was terrible. From the host to the server. Host was rude and was more interested in their conversation with the bar patrons. My three friends arrived before we did and put in drinks, apps and entrees. They forgot one of their orders, so we flagged down the host to notify the server we were missing an app and drink after apps and entrees were already served (40 mins). We notified them and received the items but were treated as if we never placed the order. The order was read back to us and we confirmed them so we know the order was taken, just forgotten. When we received our bill, nothing was discounted or removed so I asked for a refund of the two items forgotten. They were clearly forgotten because they were at the end of the ticket. The server said they would speak with the manager. As they're speaking with the manager at the bar they turn around and announce loudly, "do you want anything else taken off the bill?" As if to embarrass us. We're not the ones who should be embarrassed. This is the first and last time we'll visit. read more

This bar has altered conditions due to covid and have plentiful outdoor seating although there were no visible sanitation stations and tables were sat next to each other. I didn't mind but I could tell some of the older patrons did. I came for drinks in the early afternoon. Kooper's is a beautiful restaurant and the environment they made outside to adapt to covid was more than comfortable. Service was fine, no issues there. Prices were a little high for drinks but the place is on Thames so I think that's just keeping up with the prices in the area. Around the block drinks are cheaper but the view from Kooper's is great. The white wine sangria that I ordered was $9 and was basically white wine, Prosecco and some strawberries. Very underwhelming. I think if you're going to offer a sangria at least make it legit. It was an overall great experience but I think the prices were just a little too high for me. I didn't have the food so I can't speak for that. I would come here again but only if the bars around the corner weren't packed as a half a block away the prices seem to drop. read more
