I've always found Asian airlines to be a touch above American ones, from the super considerate service to the food to that extra touch of thought and care. I'd fly Korean Air again without a question. My trip to China with them was pretty smooth despite two layovers and I don't have any complaints (that said, after booking with them directly, I didn't need anything that required customer service so can't weigh in on that). My biggest regret is opting for the vegetarian selection in part because, even though I eat meat, I had heard that the vegetarian in-flight meals tend to be better. But now I can say that is not applicable here, because the vegetarian options were far and away inferior to the bibimbap (I had assumed wrongly they offered a veggie version and was looking forward to that; instead, I got, for my first meal, boiled lentils with tomato, spinach, and mushrooms, not bad but pretty tasteless, and for my second meal, what can only be described as extremely bland salsa over rice). So let this be a lesson that, unless you are actually vegetarian, don't get the vegetarian meals. One plus though is that you do get your meal way before everyone else but you're stuck eating boiled veggies. On my international flight, we got one meal right after takeoff, a sandwich somewhere in the middle (we even got corndogs on my flight back!), and another meal before landing. There are also complimentary snacks and drinks in the galley, including these ridiculously addictive digestive biscuits. If you download the KAL app, you can see what meals they offer ahead of time. Even though we were in cattle class, the economy seat on Korean Air seemed roomier than other airlines. Both crew and other passengers were very pleasant and considerate on all of my flights - while US flight attendants will watch as you struggle futilely to stuff your luggage somewhere overhead (probably due to some policy or law), the crew here pitched in and helped find overhead space for everyone, including doing some clever Tetris-style maneuvers. I will say that, of all the airlines I've flown, KAL's attendants were perhaps the strictest in enforcing the no-standing while landing/takeoff policy. Someone was trying to get to the restroom (because I think they were about to puke) and had to stay in their seat. At which followed some pretty bad barfing sounds. read more

This Korean Air flight review is for Economy Class from Incheon (Seoul) airport back to San Francisco (SFO). We loved the friendly customer service at the counters prior to boarding, the pretty ladies and just a touch of class & care that asian airlines have compared to others! We boarded the plane at 8pm. We sat in the last row of Economy seats. They're the 2 twin seats in the back that doesnt recline much but has extra space on the window area for your backpacks, etc. Upon arriving in our seats, we found a pillow, blanket and a goodie bag waiting for us. Inside the blue goodie bag, was a pair of white foldable slippers, a full size toothbrush and a mini toothpaste. Compared to many airlines, they do care about comfort! Headphones were also passed around if you need them. About 2 hours into the flight, we were served dinner. We chose the curry chicken which was quite decent. Actually all their meals were quite decent for airplane food! The curry chicken comes with mushrooms which were in a larger container separately so you can mix in the rice. The meal also came with pickled radish, a fruit cup, a pound cake and seaweed soup. I love that they serve drinks on the side at the same time and you dont have to wait another round for your drinks. I know that Korean Airlines have a spicy hot pepper paste called "Gochujang" which I saw on the carts they were pushing around. It is more for their bibimbap which I'm sad they didn't serve on this flight but would have loved to try it! After dinner, it was lights out for the next 6 hours. This flight unfortunately had much turbulence over Japan and over the Bering Seas for awhile. I would say on and off for hours but we were all safe thank goodness! We were woken about 2 hours before we landed in San Francisco. It's breakfast time! Breakfast consisted of a choice of porridge or scrambled eggs. I went with Scrambled eggs with bacon. It also came with water, yogurt, fruit cup and a muffin. I asked for OJ on the side. It was a great breakfast and filled me up. Overall, I thought the service, the food, the care from Korean Airlines was top notch. Seats could be a little more comfortable, possibly swapping the old cloth seats with leather seats and having recline for the last row would be appreciated. Otherwise, great flight. read more

The service, comfort, and good customer service were excellent. The flight attendant's uniform looked so cute. I was very happy with the airline. The moment I boarded the airplane I was welcomed with a friendly smile and greeting by the staff. They all left a good impression on me. I had a fifteen-hour flight to Thailand. The flight was as comfortable as it could get. I was given slippers, a comfy blanket, and a toothbrush to use. Everything was packaged very nicely. I liked the choices of games and movies provided by the airline. The food excelled my expectations. It just kept coming. The airline attendants kept checking on us making me feel very comfortable. It was impressive. On my flight someone got sick. We had bad turbulences. I watched the attendants quickly go into action trying to help him and checking on him constantly. That was good customer service and nice. I would definitely recommend this airline to anyone and use them again. read more

I intentionally purchased a round-trip ticket from Jeju to Narita--a flight that only operates three times a week (Sun/W/F). I flew into Narita on Sunday 02/02 with no problem, but when I arrived three hours early at the check-in desk in Narita on 02/07 I was told to be on standby due to poor weather conditions on Jeju. Eventually, they announced that they would be rerouting to Incheon Airport on the mainland. The airline staff advised to either 1. cancel the ticket (and wait until the next flight on Sunday 02/09) or 2. take the flight to Incheon. Little did I know I would have to fend for myself. After many back and forth between calling customer service, my booking agency, and the Incheon Transfer desk, I was completely on my own. Everyone involved said they couldn't help me because I boarded the plane to Incheon and that the only situation that would involve any kind of refund would have been a cancellation before boarding the plane to Incheon. But would they have even paid for accommodation until the next flight on Sunday? Not sure, but I'm going to take a guess--PROBABLY NO. Here I am back home on Jeju, oh but it just cost me almost $200 out-of-pocket costs. $50 for a one-night stay in an Airbnb near Incheon airport, $30 taxi ride to Gimpo airport (40 minutes away since Incheon doesn't have flights to Jeju), then another $90 for the actual flight from Gimpo to Jeju the following day. In summary, due to the decision to board the plane that was rerouted to Incheon last minute, I ended up paying almost $200 out-of-pocket expenses for an already pricy round-trip ticket from Jeju to Narita. Thus I repeat, Korean Air has embarrassingly poor service and faulty customer communication. Korean Air needs clearer policies regarding last-minute changes due to weather conditions for international travelers to and from an island such as Jeju which is known for turbulent weather. No accountability and shameless response from all in-person staff to transfer desk and call center. read more

Heres the problem...one of the turbine engines had an issue and gave a 40 minute delay. Which ended up causing my man to miss his connecting flight home!! I am not happy or pleased. But I mean i guess the flight was alright but still ruined the rest of the day. These problems should be fixed and addressed before boarding where it won't cause mess ups for continuing travelers. This is one of my favorite airlines! The economy seats are pretty spacious, the food is great, the service is helpful and kind. Upon entry they provide slippers and a toothbrush bag. Then there's a really cute K-pop safety video. The entertainment system has a lot of good picks. For drinks there's wine and beer to pick from. For meals a lot of people request special accommodations, they have limited options if you do not select this prior to confirming your booking. For special meals, they put a sticker on your seat and serve you first. The best part of all is the Incheon airport. This airport is great for long transfers as it has a transfer lounge with a lot of amenities. I'd pick Korean Air again for international travel. read more

Honestly a very good airline with great service in air. But be weary of paying right away for any rebooking or missed flight fees. Korean just implemented new policies for no show fees and rescheduling fees and in my case where I rescheduled directly through them got hit with a $1400 fee, the cost of booking brand new tickets would have been $1100. When speaking with an agent when I got back to my home they essentially implied that if I would have not paid there would have been something they could do to lower the fees or get it closer to the amount online... $1400 is the most I have every had to pay for any sort of rebooking, have heard of other airlines being more in the $200 - $400 range. read more

Terrible experience. Bought tickets on Korean Airlines through eDreams. Korean Airlines doesn't require Covid-19 negative test before travel. But, they use American Airlines to operate out of DFW airport ticket counters. And they require it. Wasn't allowed to fly lost $2k. EDreams should've had warnings on travel. Very Unhappy Customer EDreams responded and I excepted nothing more from EDreams but, to send a blowoff response. I was flying Korean Airlines not American Airlines. EDreams caused this issue by not disclosing that in the email. You guys can keep the the refund. This day forward I will never stop giving bad reviews or telling people how crappy you are. Korean Airlines has allowed this company to sell and represent there flights.. read more

Bimbibop anyone? You can count on this being offered during breakfast, lunch, or dinner service. It's served with seaweed soup too! Another staple dish would be rice porridge for breakfast. Service was good. FAs were very friendly! I've flown with Korean Air for about three round trips and have enjoyed every flight. There has never been any issues and their customer service is superb. There are amenities provided to you such as a blanket, slippers, and a toothbrush in the restroom. Not to mention, I liked the snacks offered in between meals. You can never go HANGRY (hungry + angry) on a flight with Korean Air. I definitely recommend this carrier for a smooth flight! read more

Don't book with Korean Air if you don't to risk your trip. We booked our first trip to Korea with direct flight, booked and planned for our hotels and trip 8 months ahead, but Korean Air just decided to cancelled our trip all the sudden without any reasons. We were forced to changed our flight to indirect flight, we have to take additional half day off, and cut the trip short. We basically lost half day of work pay and half day of trip. If you were parents, you know how hard it is to do connecting flights with young children, but seems like Korean Air doesn't care. Their customer services are not great. We get zero compensation. We are very frustrated, stress and disappointed, and Korean Air didn't help anything. Giving us "free" rebook is not compensation. We bought the tickets and paid in full 8 months ago. Rebook with flights that are closer to traveling dates... of course it will cost more, but we didn't ask for this. You surely did not understand how customers feel. read more

There's no Yelp in Seoul unfortunately, but I am happy to provide a review of the airline that got us there and back - Korean Airlines. I booked Economy seats near the rear of the aircraft where they had double seaters. Plenty of leg room and they offer water, headphones, blankets, pillows, slippers, and toothbrush/toothpaste. You have your own personal movie screen with free movies and a USB charge port. I almost felt I was flying business class with all these amenities. The stewardesses were all friendly and the food was actually decent. You normally don't see Bibimbap and Korean rice porridge among airline food! Our return flight from ICN (BTW - I consider it the finest airport in the world) had more hiccups - a painful 3-hr delay. They gave us $10/pp food vouchers along with apologies. Then upon boarding, each passenger got $50 Korean Air credit with a fancy card apologizing again. Dang - can you imagine United offering anything close to that?! read more

This review is regarding an incident on our flight home. We flew Korean Air roundtrip SFO - ICN - BKK; then HAN - ICN - SFO. On our return trip, HAN to ICN we wanted to spend down our VDN $. We purchased 2 orders of Popeye's fried chicken for a total of 6 pieces at $12 USD as we were planning to eat it on the plane flying back to SFO at some point. We selected the 2nd leg of the trip, ICN to SFO. We waited until the plane was in the air; then pulled out our fried chicken. I got through a chicken wing and hubby got through a chicken thigh. Before we knew it, a flight attendant approached hubby and whispered he couldn't eat the chicken due to the "pungent" odor. He was told to put the remainder of the chicken in the overhead compartment. We said no need. We're going to toss it out. Now you know. Popeye's fried chicken is more pungent than Korean fried chicken!!! read more

This is by far one of my favorite airlines to fly if I have to fly to Asia, the plane is brand new, the staff are all really friendly, and the blankets, and sandals, etc. they provide even in main cabin are amazing. I've flown Korean Air twice, one time to go to ICN, the next time was to SGN, I was really impressed with them, mainly because our flight to ICN was delayed by an hour, but they held the flight for us, so we did not miss our connecting flight to SGN. There is nothing worse than missing an international connection, who knows when the next flight will be? The flight attendants are all so helpful, kind, and always have a smile on their face. One of them was being scolded super harshly, and probably unfairly about her seat, I think the lady did not like her seat because she didn't have anywhere to put her purse. ( since she was in a bulkhead seat). The flight attendants very Kindly asked me if I would switch seats with her, and of course I did!! It was truly amazing, because I switched from an aisle seat, to a beautiful exit row seat with amazing amounts of leg room. The service from SFO - ICN included a lunch meal, choice of western meal or bibimbap, I chose the bibimbap. A warm bun was served in the middle of the flight, which was delicious and I could easily have had more of them. The last meal was your choice of western or Korean. I chose a western pasta dish with shrimp, the plate also came with some sashimi on it. I have never had sashimi on a plane, much less in coach. I was a little wary, because theres no way to tell how fresh the fish was, but it was delicious and I did not have any problems at all. If you have a choice, choose Korean air ! read more

Never will fly them again. On an Asian tour. Sat on a tarmac about half hour one of our tour passengers was crying because they won't feed us. I had a connecting flight back to the US and there was a delay to catch United. I asked Korean Airlines at the ticket counter what I can do they just shrugged me off. I ran like crazy at the airport and was the last passenger to catch my connecting flight. I boarded without my luggage. I was able to retrieve my luggage the next day at SFO. I agree with all the other commenters this airline don't give a SHIT about their customers' needs and are out to make a buck. No customer service at all. I flew many airlines and never encountered such rudeness. read more

I have travelled in many international flights in my entire career however this is one airline, i cannot forget due to the disappointment and harassments I have to face. Here are a few points I would want to share with everybody so that people can avoid this unprofessional airlines in their future travels- 1. No Wifi - Just before the web check in Korean airways claims that you can use the wifi, as it is clearly mentioned on their website. However. upon asking, the flight attendent refused saying there is no wifi in the plane. This looks pure deception to me as i wanted to watch my favourite match and even though i was ready to pay, the service isnt there. So why flash it on website wrongly? 2. No responsibility from flight attendant or airhostess- I requested the air hostess to kindly find me a suitable overhead cabin where i can put my laptop bag. She just smiled at me and said, we usually don't have any space in this place. Later, when i tried to check a cabin myself, she came again and said yes you can put it here. Every international flight has responsible attendants, who usually themselves help the passengers for their luggage. But I was shocked to see their attendants hardly caring for it. Honestly, it seemed i am travelling in a village bus. 3. The navigation screen given for each passenger is a mess. It doesnt have a good user interface for flight tour or map. It shows options for sky shopping and games, but the moment you open any of them, you see nothing inside. I even complained to one of the attendants about this, and he said they keep on updating this. So my question is for what kind of experience am i paying my hard earned money for if this flight has literally nothing to offer? 4. No proper food supplies - The flight had only beef curry in their evening menu by the time the food supplies reached me. The attendant adviced me to try the beef curry as there was nothing left on the food menu, which is extremely bizarre. I mean this is the first international flight i have experienced something like this. This airlines shouldn't not be rated more than 3 out of ten for the services i have received. 5. Harassment by the attendant- The flight attendant pushed me to have beef curry as they only had beef curry available. I told him that I don't eat beef and he said " don't worry, you will like it, you can try". I felt so harassed by such ignorance and such insensitive comments that I almost didnt feel safe for the rest of the flight and literally didnt even eat the next meal. People around me were kind to offer me their food because they could see the inhuman services however, no attendant was bothered. I mean, they could atleast share some substitue foods, snacks or even fruits that i could fill my tummy with, but to my surprise and harassments, nobody came. I was not being asked any food again for 5 hours approx. till the breakfast was served. Thats when i decided to tell the attendant that I need your name as soon as we land. Horrible. read more

Flew out of SFO to ICN to PVG, meaning a long day of being airborne. Check-In Staff (Elena) was helpful in setting up two economy seats together. Gate Staff did their best in boarding families first and rest of rows by ranges. But of course no one followed the rules except us. There were no more overhead compartment space by the time we got on board with our midship seats. Ugh! Food was okay by airline standards. Funny in that all meals came with metal utensils including a knife. Hard liquor also included. Choice of recently released movies thus binged on the entire flight with 4 movies and no sleep. Thor, Justice League, Chasing the Dragon and Star Wars. Sorry gals, I didn't watch any chick flicks although KAL has in their selections. Oh yes, for you frequent flyers, check your boarding pass for Pre TSA Approved in the top left corner. Definitely saves you a lot of time! read more

I flew with Korean Airlines for the first time earlier this year. I must say that I'm very impressed with this airline company! Korean Airlines offers excellent customer service from check-in to in-flight services. I'm very pleased with the customer service myself and my family received with Korean Air. At the SFO check-out counter, the gentleman who helped myself and my family check-in our luggage was very friendly and genuinely helpful. He was concerned at first when he saw that we wouldn't be returning on Korean Air (which was a huge mistake since we flew back & had a terrible experience on China Eastern Airlines), but all of that subsided when we showed our paperwork. The in-service flight attendants (on both flights) were also very friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. They were even impressed and encouraging me when I spoke the very limited Korean that I do know. Another great thing about this airline company is that they have K-beauty items in the bathrooms, specifically Korean skincare products. I'm a huge fan of Korean skincare products, so I was delighted to see various moisturizers and moisturizing mists to rehydrate my skin from the very drying recycled cabin air. They also offered hot towels to help freshen up a bit, which was very much appreciated. The leg room on this airline was average. I'm 5'11" tall, but I still had a little room to stretch out my long legs on both flights to ICN and to Manila. The seating can feel a little cramped if you're sitting next to someone that's on the larger side (tall or heavier) though. The in-service entertainment was little underwhelming. There weren't a wide variety of movies, shows, music, or updated games in-flight. They did, however, have a good selection of K-dramas and decent radio stations to help you fall and/or stay asleep. The main reason that prevented me from giving Korean Airlines 5 out of 5 stars are the meals offered in-flight. The food was a hit or miss, in regards to taste. I found that most of the food that was offered to me were a little bland, but they weren't too terrible. The portions were also on the small side; however, I do remember being offered snacks and drinks a couple of hours after meals. Overall, I'm very pleased with my flight experience with Korean Airlines. They have definitely raised the bar for customer service I have received by an international airline company. I just wish that they added a bit more seasoning to their food. I look forward to flying with Korean Air in the near future. read more

Review #017 - 2019 I've never flown Korean Air before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Although, I have been told that they are one of the best Asian airlines. On Sunday, February 10th, around 8 PM, we showed up for our 13-hour flight from SFO to ICN, to connect to our final destination to Laos. Korean Air is a great airline. Their staffs are pretty good, but the check in line is ridiculously long. There were about ten open counters, three of which are for VIP customers only, which makes no sense because there were only 2-3 people waiting in that line. Sadly, those staff members aren't allowed to assist us economy flyers so our line just continued to grow longer by the minute. Good thing I decided to ask an employee if I could use their drop off line since I wasn't sure as I was only able to check in to my first leg of the flight. He said it should be ok, which saved me about 30-45 minutes, I'm sure, as there were about 25 people ahead of me. Once we got on to our flight, everything was fine. Their seats are pretty comfortable. The one good thing about being short is I could sit comfortably on two seats since my daughter sleeps on my lap. Their airline is kid friendly, as they had a Pororo gift bag for each kid to keep them occupied during the flight. They have a few selections of free kids movies/shows as well. Our 13-hour flight was not as dreadful as I can remember from 2017, when we flew China Airline. Most of the air hostesses are very helpful & accommodating as well. Sadly, our connecting flight was through Jin Air, which was really crappy. They made me pay $2 for orange juice on a 5-hour flight. Shouldn't it be complimentary since it's not alcohol? I'll definitely fly Korean Air in the future if they fly to my destinations. read more

I have travelled to India on Korean air at least 6 times and the airlines have improved a lot. The first time we used Korean air was a horrendous experience where the air hostess asked us to vacate our seats and stand in the kitchen galley as our kid was crying. Fast forward and we see airhostess helping a young mother. So looks like we got a bad crew decades back and hopefully they were all fired. Now let's talk about the airline .. Check in: super helpful crew at SFO and Mumbai Plane crew: last experience: though they don't talk much English- very helpful. Food: if you like bibimbap and Korean food, then no issues. If your a veggie you don't have much options. And you need to get used to the seaweed soup smell. Kids meal - good. Do note I liked the food better than a recent Cathay flight. Not much snack options too. Bang for the buck: yes as this is a fastest and cheapest option to mumbai. 2.5 hrs break in between. Entertainment options: decent Sky pass membership - useless as redemption options are limited. read more

I loved riding this airline. Korea airlines where have u been all my life? I have flown on several different Asian airlines, but I must say this airline is my top 3 favorites. We took it from SFO to ICN to Bangkok then from Bangkok to ICN and then back finally to SFO. Check in took longer than expected since I had to present the original credit card that I purchased my tickets with (since I did this online). What sucks is that my Visa had just sent me a new card so the original one was long gone.. Anyways, when I finally got on board and into our seats as with any airline you have your blanket, toothbrush, and slippers. What was really nice is that they also had water bottles knowing that international Asian flights make you super dehydrated. I also go nice ear plugs and a sleep mask sweet. The leg room was ample for me and my 5'10.5" husband who is on the bigger side. The carry on luggage space was also pretty big so that we stored both carry on items plus a another bag and jacket. Let me just say I hate airplane food and most of the time I only eat the fruit. However, Korean airlines somehow managed to make a few tasty dishes that I was able to eat clean. Loved their bim bim bap! The other dishes were average to not so good. Again, overall much better than other airlines I have been on. They also had Shin? Cup of noodles as snacks or alternatives to meals which was also really nice. Like other airlines several drink options from sofa to juices and beers and wines. The attendants were very friendly and attentive and the movies were good, but I slept for most of the flight, but my husband enjoyed several of them. Overall, great airline. read more

I LOVED flying Korean air! Especially for the price point, it was a great flight. The food is really decent and it comes around a lot. They dont skip you on the beer or wine and overall service is good. Also, I have had a lot of landings at SFO (san Francisco) where we hit the deck hard. It was a pretty smooth landing. read more

After a few hours, they gave everyone sandwiches, which were my favorite. Definitely high quality airplane food. To finish off the flight, they did breakfast, which tasted pretty good. Drinks were served with every meal. The best part was the in flight entertainment. The screens in front of me were equipped with dozens of free movies, free services for TV like Apple TV and Hulu, and even an interactive flight tracker. I asked the drivers at the gate if they would kindly take me, and I was denied. I ran 20 minutes across the airport, and arrived on time but was told they had made the decision for me. My baggage was delayed by 2.5 days - they couldn't explain why it wasn't loaded on the next two flights. My meal was also no longer available since they had taken me off the flight. I was also promised reimbursement of expenses upon arrival. I had a large presentation the following day, and none of my expenses for that meeting were covered. I also had a very rude driver getting to the airport. Don't trust the airline, and definitely don't trust their layovers. It's really too bad - I was looking for a new primary airline for business travel, and it certainly won't be Emirates.

Headphones, pillow, blanket and slippers were provided. Additionally we received a nice kit which included a tooth brush, facial lotion and other accoutrements. Overall, this was a decent airline, and I would recommend.
